- Good morning(afternoon). We are here to share with you how we are literally building the future and why you should join us in that journey.
- It is an industry that represents 11% of total global GDP. An industry projected to grow (by almost 70%) to $12 trillion by 2020. (Check McGraw-Hill Construction Outlook) And to keep growing to support a global population that will hit 9 billion by 2050, that will require three times more buildings than exist on the planet today. With 70% of people wanting to live in urban centers, this growth is equivalent to adding a city the size of London every month for a century. (Source: IHS Global Insights and McKinsey Research)
- But why exactly Newforma? And why the need for transformation?
- Today, the industry is broken. 85% of projects either finish late or run over budget. It’s fragmented and inefficient. It’s running on razor-thin margins. And it’s incredibly conservative, resistant to change.
- The amount of waste in our industry is simply unsustainable. 85% of projects are late or over budget. Here are just three examples: - Chicago Millennium Park: 3 years late and $258 million over budget - The BBC Headquarters in London: 4 years and 110 million pounds over budget - NY’s Metropolitan Transit Authority’s East Side Access project: 10 years and $4.4 billion over budget Unfortunately there are LOTS of other examples. - And the capability to build the world’s tallest modular building - the $4.9 billion Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn, NY.
