•A device that computes, especially a
programmable electronic machine that
performs high-speed mathematical or
logical operations or that assembles,
stores, collerates, or otherwise processes
information.
•is recognized as the third revolution in
education.
1st was the invention of the printing press.
2nd the introduction of the libraries.
3rd the invention of the computers.
Through computer technology, educators saw
the amplification of learning along with
computer literacy. Much like:
Reading, the modern student can now
interact with computer messages; even respond
to questions or to computer commands.
Writing, the learner can form messages using
computer language or program.
What is ICT?

• Covers any product that will stores, retrieve,
manipulate, transmits or receives
information electronically in a digital form.
Ex. personal computers, digital television, email,
robots.
Advantages:
• Self directed learning
• Learn more and more rapidly
• Privacy helps the shy and slow learners
• Individual attention
• Self pacing-allow student to proceed at their own pace
• Freedom to experiment with different options
• Great motivator
• One to one interaction

• They are generally costly
• Decreases the amount of human interaction
• Availability and development of software or
computer programmes
• Instructions tend to be boring and repetitive.
• Expensive , time consuming and may require more
programming expertise

• Over use of multimedia may divert the attention
from the main content.
