- 2. Artist Statement In the beginning of my concentration, the first picture (1) is a close up of a cracked egg symbolizing the start of a birds life. It then goes into a headshot of a young bird (2) in its early development focusing on its immature beak and baby feathers. The flamingo painting and duck (3 & 4) bring focus to the color and vibrancy, while (5) continues to follow a birds maturity and making the way for (6). This parrot (6) is sliced and blurred to symbolize the chaos in the transformation from immaturity to maturity. The sliced up pieces represent immaturity and the pieces laid on top and spread out show maturity trying to take over and the chaos it brings. The next photo (7) shows three pictures symbolizing moments that are captured in development. (8) Introduces cool colors and fades out the warm to show the settling of life and calming of emotions. (9 & 10) favor the color green to symbolize growth and then (11) displays hard colors and ice that show the complications of maturing through the seasons. Piece (12) is a close up of a fully matured bird that has been through all the stages of life and is now behind a cage, awaiting the final stage in a birds life. This piece (12) is black and white to symbolize age and full maturity.
