In order for a film to be British it must come under a
certain category these categories are…
• Category A- Film made with British money,
personnel and resources
• Category B- Film co-funded but most are British
(Cast/Crew)
• Category C- Mostly Forerun money (not use) Invests
in a British input
• Category D- Film made in the UK with British culture
and content but played by an American actor
• Category E- American film with some British
involvement
 In this power point I will be writing about
British film companies Working titles. In
this power pint I hope that I will be bale
to show and prove the differences a film
can make when money and special
effects come into consideration.
Because of that fact that they will not be
a major Hollywood film.
 Working Title Films, co-chaired by Tim
Bevan and Eric Fellner since 1992, is one
of the world’s leading film production
companies. Woking titles is in synergy
with universal studios because they own
around about 63%. Universal studios own
67% of the company and there aim is to
get the American public more interested
in England and its heritage.
 Paul was a film created by working titles and
cost around $40,000,00 to make. The film how
now managed to make $98,000,000 million at
the box office which in comparison is not that
much to other films that they have created but
could be a life changer for a smaller company
like warp.
 Greg Mottola was the director of the film Paul
and was American and would still class as an
British film if they wanted two but only because
it comes under one of the categories
(Category E- American film with some British
involvement)
Distributor: Universal Pictures.
Cast: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jason Bateman,
Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, John Carroll Lynch, Jane
Lynch, Kirsten Wiig, Sigourney Weaver, Blythe
Danner and Jeffrey Tambor
Director: Greg Mottola
Screenwriters: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost
Producers: Nira Park, Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan
Genre: Comedy
Rating: R for language, sexual references and
drug use.
Running time: 104 min.
Release date: March 18, 2011
 From the money and profit that they
have made and the categories that
they fit in this could be classed as a British
film because of its funding and the
actors that are in the film its self. This
would be a good example of a hit British
film, But if you were to class this as an
American film it would only class as an
average if not a poor film .
