Film4 Film4 is headed by Tessa Ross.  Film4 Productions is the feature film commissioning department of Channel 4. The company develops and co-finances film productions and is known for working with the most innovative talent in the UK. “We develop and co-finance smart and distinctive feature films.” Film4 is a founding partner of the Warp X digital studio.
Film4 They have developed feature films like the Academy Award winning Slumdog Millionaire, Mike Leigh's Happy Go Lucky and Shane Meadows' This Is England. Recent film4 films include: The Lovely Bones, Four Lions and Nowhere Boy Film4 films currently in production are: One Day starring Anne Hathaway, Paddy Considine's debut feature Tyrannosaur, starring Peter Mullan and a new film version of Wuthering Heights directed by Bafta 2010 Best British Film winner Andrea Arnold.

Working Title Films
Working Title Films Working Title Films is a British film production company that was founded by Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe in 1983.  It produces feature films and several television productions.  Eric Fellner and Bevan are now the co-owners of the company. NBC Universal is Working Title's parent company.
Working Title Films They have been one of the UK's most successful film production companies for over the past three decades, with more than 90 theatrical releases that have grossed more than $4.5bn (£2.8bn) worldwide. As of 2007, all of its films are distributed by Universal Pictures.
Working Title Films They have developed films such as Bridget Jones’s Diary, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually, Notting Hill, Pride and Prejudice and Atonement.  Recent Working Title films include: Green Zone starring Matt Damon, Nanny McPhee starring Emma Thompson and Burn After Reading starring Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand and George Clooney. Working Title films currently in production are: Paul starring Simon PeggandJohnny English Reborn starring Rowan Atkinson
Working Title Films They have promoted a range of English talent such as Keira Knightly, Hugh Grant, Simon Pegg and Colin Firth. Their most recent success is the launch of WT2, an offshoot designed to produce smaller budget films.  Its first film, Billy Elliot, was a huge success.
Working Title Films Although Working Title Films promote English talent and produce English Films, as of 2000 they have been owned by Universal Studios, an American film company, and have offices based in Los Angeles, making them not strictly a British company.
BBC Films BBC Films is the feature film-making arm of the BBC. It has produced or co-produced some of the most successful British films of recent years, including: Edge of Darkness (co-production with Warner Bros. and Icon Productions)  StreetDance 3D (Co-Production with Vertigo Films) Nativity! Aardman Aardman, a British animation company has a deserved reputation as a world leader in model animation. Aardman's first full-length theatrical feature film was Chicken Run which was later followed by Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit and Flushed Away. All films produced by Aardman have been funded by Dreamworks, an American company.
Heyday Films Heyday Films is a British film production company, founded by producer David Heyman in London in 1997. Its first feature film production was Ravenous, directed by Antonia Bird. However, it is most notable for producing the Harry Potter film series, based on the novels of J. K. Rowling. Other films they have produced include Yes Man, I Am Legend and The Boy In Striped Pyjamas.
British Actors Though many of these actors are British and even began playing roles in British Films, many of them are now taking on, or even went straight to having roles in American films. For example, Cillian Murphy is well known for his part in 28 Days Later, but since then has starred in films such as The Dark Night and Inception. Similarly, Ricky Gervais who both starred in and directed the UK TV series The Office, then went on to direct and star in The Invention of Lying and Ghost Town which were mainly American films. For example, Keira Knightley starred in Bend it Like Beckham and Love Actually before moving onto films such as Pirates of the Carribean and King Arthur.
Defining British Film Category A: films made with British, money, personnel and resources. Category B: films co-funded with money from Britain and from foreign investment, but the majority of finance, cultural content and personnel are British. Category C: films with mostly foreign (but non USA) investment and a small British input, either financially or creatively.  Category D: films made in the UK with (usually) British cultural content, but financed fully or partly by American companies.  Category E: American films with some British involvement.
