This document describes the construction and working of an aqua silencer device. An aqua silencer consists of a perforated tube installed at the end of an exhaust pipe to break up exhaust gases into smaller bubbles. The tube is surrounded by activated charcoal and placed in a water container. Exhaust gases pass through the charcoal, which absorbs pollutants, before bubbles are released into the water. Some gases dissolve in the water while others escape, reducing noise and pollution. The document also discusses the effects of dissolved gases on water quality and methods to control water pollution, including lime treatment and absorption processes using activated carbon.

In general, the consumption of fuel is an index for finding out the economic strength of any country. In spite, we cannot ignore the harmful effects of the large mass of the burnt gases, which erodes the purity of our environment every day. The main pollutants contribute by automobiles are (CO), UBHC, (Nox) and Lead etc., Other sources such as electric power generating stations, industrial and domestic fuel consumption, refuse burning , industrial processing. So it is imperative that serious attempts should be made to conserve earth’s environment from degradation. An aqua silencer is an attempt in this direction, it is mainly dealing with control of emission and noise. An aqua silence is fitted to the exhaust pipe of engine.

It plays an important role in control the noise and emission of gases from engines. Air pollution causes dangerous physical effect on the human body, animal and environment. The main reason to use aqua silencer is because nowadays air pollution is increasing rapidly. This system reduces the dangerous exhaust gases from the auto.
These emissions are controlled by the activated charcoal layer around perforated tube and lime water. The charcoal layer having high capacity to absorb emission gases from engine. This type charcoal layer with lime water reacts chemically with emission gases and change the chemical structure of emission gases. The smoke or emission gases and noise level in aqua silencer is very less than the commonly used silencers.

As the world is hard pressed with the energy and fuel crises, compounded by pollution of all kinds, any technologies that bring out the solutions to this problem is considered as a bounty. In one of such new technologies, is the development of a new car called as compressed air car which does not require any of the known fuels like diesel, petrol, CNG, LPG, hydrogen etc. this works using only compressed air. This replaces all types of to-date known fuels and also permanently solves the problems of pollution as its exhaust is clean and cool measured practically as low as 5ºC. A proto type, a horizontal, single cylinder low speed engine was modified to run on compressed air. Since this engine runs only on high pressure compressed air, the exhaust of which is undoubtedly only air, making it a zero pollution engine. No heat is generated because there is no combustion of fuel, hence this car needs no cooling system and it result in reduced cost, weight, volume and vibration. Early cost analysis shows that it's very cost effective and the operational cost is ten times less than that of petrol or diesel. Experimental analysis were carried out on this modified car to find out its performance characteristics like brake power, mechanical efficiency, overall efficiency, air to Air ratio, volumetric efficiency, cost analysis etc. Though the efficiencies were low as the frictional forces were high for the proto designed engine, however the concept can be applied on a professionally designed engine to improve the car performance.
This is a presentation on the emission norms present in India i.e Bharat Stage and in Europe i.e Euro. it also has a comparison between the two as well as a timeline of the two.

Sound produced under water is less hearable than it produced in atmosphere. This mainly because of small sprockets in water molecules, which lowers its amplitude thus, lowers the sound level. Because of this property water is used in this silencer and hence its name AQUA SILENCER. Aqua Silencer is a modified version of a conventional silencer aimed at the reduction of toxic emission. Aqua silencer is one of the attempt taken in reduce the air pollution. It is fitted to the exhaust pipe of engine or system. These Silencers is used to reduce the noise and control the emission of dangerous gases. An aqua silencer is an attempt in this direction which is mainly dealing with control of emission and noise.
Raw water coming from different sources contains dissolved salts and un-dissolved or suspended impurities. It is necessary to remove harmful salts dissolved into the water before feeding it to the boiler.

The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

4. Aqua Silencer
Basically an aqua silencer consists of a perforated tube
which is installed at the end of the exhaust pipe.
The perforated tube -different diameters. purpose of
providing different diameter hole is to break up gas mass
to form smaller gas bubbles.
Generally 4 sets of holes are drilled on the perforated
tube. The other end of the perforated tube is closed by
plug.
Around the circumference of the perforated tube a layer of
activated charcoal is provided and further a metallic mesh
covers it.
5. The whole unit is then placed in a water container.
A small opening is at the top of the container to
remove the exhaust gases & a drain plug is provided
at the bottom of the container for periodically
cleaning of container.
Also a filler plug is mounted at the top of the
container. At the inlet of the exhaust pipe a non-
return valve is provided which prevents the back flow
of gases and water as well.

9. Working principle
As the exhaust gases enter into the Aqua silencer, the
perforated tube converts high mass bubbles in lo low
mass bubbles after that they passes through charcoal
layer which again purify the gases.
It is highly porous and posses extra free valences so it has
high absorption capacity.
After passing over the charcoal layer some of the gases
may dissolved in to the water and finally the. exhaust
gases escape through the opening in to the atmosphere.
Hence aqua silencer reduces noise and pollution.

The water is treated with the calculated quantities of
slaked lime.After mixing the heavy precipitates settle
down as sludge at the bottom of the tank are
removed from time to time.
Lime can neutralize any acid present in the water. SO2
, gases are removed from the flue gases forming
calcium sulphate.
The precipitates dissolved carbon dioxide as calcium
carbonate and converts bicarbonate ions into
carbonates..

Activated charcoal is available in granular or
powdered form. As it is highly porous and possess
free valencies. So it posses high absorption capacity.
Activated carbon is more widely used for the removal
of taste and odorous from the public water supplies.
Because it has excellent properties of attracting
gases, finely divided solid particles and phenol type
impurities, The activated carbon, usually in the
powdered form is added to the water either before or
after the coagulation with sedimentation.
17. ADVANTAGES OF ABSORPTION PROCESS
It increases the coagulation power of the process.
Its use reduces the chlorine demand.
The excessive dose of activated carbon is not
harmful.
The treatment process is very simple and it requires
nearly no skill.
The efficiency of removing color, odour and taste is
quite high.
It can be easily regenerated.
It has excellent properties of attracting gases.

The aqua silencer is more effective in the
reduction of emission gases from the engine
exhaust using perforated tube and charcoal,
By using perforated tube the backpressure will
remain constant and the sound level is
reduced.
By using perforated tube the fuel consumption
remains same as conventional system.
19. By using water as a medium the sound can be
lowered and also by using activated charcoal in
water we can control the exhaust emission to a
greater level.
The water contamination is found to be
negligible in aqua silencer.
It is smokeless and pollution free emission and
also it is very cheap. This aqua silencer’s
performance is almost equivalent to the
conventional silencer. It can be also used both
for two wheelers and four wheelers and also
can be used in industries.
