Brazil outlined its priorities and perspectives on emerging global health issues. It has achieved success in expanding HIV treatment and aims to eliminate mother-to-child HIV transmission by 2015. However, challenges remain regarding human rights and access to medicines. Non-communicable diseases now cause most deaths in Brazil and tackling their social determinants requires multisectoral responses. Brazil pursues technical dialogue to address challenges like these that individual countries cannot face alone.
