Trumpets and
Cornets
These are the smallest
instruments in the brass
family which produce the
highest pitch.
French Horn
This is somewhat larger than
a trumpet so it is pitched
lower than trumpet.
Trombone
Unlike the French horn and
trumpet, it is considered
“low brass” and reads from
the bass clef.
Baritone
This instrument can be
considered as a double-sized
trumpet.
Euphonium
It can be considered as half-
sized tuba.
Tuba and
Sousaphone
They are the lowest pitch
and largest instruments of
the brass family.
Snare Drum
This is a percussion
instrument which produces a
deeper – sounding tone. It is
responsible for the twirls and
rolls in the band.
Bass Drum
It provides the pulse, tone
color, and dynamics, and it
generates excitement in the
musical performance.
Cymbals
They put accents to the
music being played by the
brass band.
Glockenspiel
This is the marching band’s
xylophone. It is similar to the
xylophone, but different
terms of its materials.
