George Washington s Effect On The French And Indian War
In 1753 George Washington, who was 21, went to confront the French in the Ohio country by
Lieutenant governor Dinwiddie. Washington s journey to the Fort Le Beouf made Washington
famous on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1754 Washington made a surprise attack on a small
French army at Jumonville Glen. This helped to make the French and Indian war. In the
following year Washington joined Major General Edward Braddock on his march to Fort
Duquesne. Following the British failure to capture Fort Duquesne in 1754, British men
assigned General Edward Braddock the task of going to the Forks of Ohio and removing the
French from the region. Joining Braddock on the expedition was Washington. Washington played
an important role in saving Braddock s army from death during the French and Indian War. This
restored Washington s reputation as a good leader after his defeat at Fort Necessity. The march
to Fort Duquesne was slow and Braddock left about one third of his force to bring the supply
train, while pressing on through forest country with perhaps 1,500 men. They found rude
messages left by the French on the trees that were stripped bare of bark. On July 9th, after
crossing the Monongahela River ten miles from Fort Duquesne, Braddock s army was proceeding
through the trees then was surprised by an enemy force close to 900 men.... Show more content on

The Battle of Monongahela lasted several hours and witnessed the near destruction of Braddock s
army. Braddock realized retreat was his only option and made orders to that effect. Moments later,
a bullet struck Braddock s right arm and pierced his lung. When Braddock was lying on the ground
he made Washington to effectively carry out Braddock s orders and make the

Citizenship As A Citizen Of A State
A broad description of citizenship is to be a citizen of a state. This can entail numerous
responsibilities and opportunities. With that in mind, it is easier to think of citizenship not just as
something that is owned and held, like a piece of paper, but instead is a responsibility that holds
positive consequences if a citizen upholds their end of the deal. Not only is it a responsibility, but
it is a type of contract between the individual and the state. By making it a contract it holds those
responsibilities and rewards that both sides obtain and uphold at an equal matter. Although some
freedoms are often given up for citizenship, there is an understanding that the contract between the
state and the citizen is not lessened. With the idea of a contract, it is interesting to explore what are
the rights and responsibilities of both the individual and the state, and also how far does the state
extend in the sense of citizenship as a contract, it is possible to have global citizenship. When
discussing any sort of contract, an individual is generally more interested in how it benefits
themselves. These benefits are known as rights. For these purposes, rights are something that are
given to a citizen when they receive citizenship. In the United States, these include things such as
the right to vote or the right to own a gun. What makes rights and freedoms different is that a right
is not automatically assumed by a person what this means is that, a person can buy a gun for

Brook continued his work in television and as a result continued to make character that would

The Enchanted Bluff Essay example
The Enchanted Bluff
The Enchanted Bluff , by Willa Cather, takes place in the bare cornfields of Nebraska during the
early 1900 s where only rivers liven up the landscape. Six boys delve into the idea of a city on
top of a bluff in the desert, they become captivated with the idea of visiting the bluff. The boys
eagerly discuss ways of dominating this mystifying bluff: throwing up a ladder, or using a rocket.
All the boys vow to get to the bluff some day. Twenty years pass and none visit it. One of the
young boys tells the story to his son and his son thinks of nothing else but the bluff. The author
does an excellent job of providing vivid imagery throughout the story, which helps the read to
capture a real sense of the town. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader gets a sense of how the boys lived when Cather mentions how, Tip worked hard in his
father s grocery store every afternoon, and swept it out before school in the morning, even his
recreations were laborious (Cather 413). When reading Cather s works, there is a feeling that she
taught the best of all philosophies, that of love, hard work, and courage (Wells) . Through the
tone of this story, the reader easily senses that this old fashioned town run with hard work and
honesty is careless. The author does an excellent job of describing individuals in the town such
as, Percy Pound who took half a dozen boys story papers and was always kept in reading
detective stories behind the desk (Cather 413). Cather s writing style shows an unhampered zest
for enjoyment (Wells). The reader gets the feeling that the character Percy Pound is a young laid
back inquisitive boy who likes adventures. Willa Cather not only uses local color to show
descriptions of the characters in the story but also in conveying the setting.
Willa Cather provides vivid imagery throughout the story to set the relaxed tone. The reader
imagines a very descriptive portrait of the boys hometown when the story mentions how the
oblique rays of the light made a dazzling glare on the white sand about us (Cather 411). Realities
and fantasies...her art is a method of preserving the wonder of youthful happiness (Wells). When
reading this Willa Cather paints a vivid portrait of where the six

My Experience Of Volunteering At A Local Nursing Home
I signed up to volunteer at a local nursing home. Because my father works there, I have been there
many times before. However, volunteering there was very new to me.
I had to understand the circumstances in which people were in and how interact with residents
respectfully and compassionately which provided opportunities for personal growth by practicing
integrity, justice and good stewardship. Though I was a bit hesitant, my experience has been very
positive. Just being a volunteer without any related experience or skills, I was unqualified to help
and many ways. The few menial tasks that I was able to do seemed to be met with much
enthusiasm and appreciation. Simply helping someone to their seat bringing them a cup of tea or ...

Throughout their history, their mission was always to provide quality care with respect and dignity
to the elderly.
I had my moments of success and happiness when I was able to help someone along and see how
appreciative they were. There were also times that were saddening and uncomfortable. When
visiting rooms, I did encounter people who were losing grip on their mental and physical abilities.
I felt a heaviness because even though they were taken care of, there wasn t that could be done to
make them better. It was inspiring seeing nurses and family members continuing to care for them
and keep dignity.
I do believe my action had an impact on the residents. When assisting with activities for the
residents, we were able to spend less time setting up less time residents needed to just sit and wait
for the activity to being. The impact made was I was able to get services to the residents (who can
and do get impatient when waiting to play bingo.) I also think that simple gestures of kindness
were enough to brighten someone s day which in and of itself makes it worthwhile.
From this understanding, we as a people have a responsibility to unite in the pursuit of justice in
order to make all voices heard and recognize those who are in the greatest need. Practice of these
teachings would undoubtedly promote the common good. When seeking out suffering and seeing
to it that injustice is overcome

Solo: Stay Safe But Don t Stay Home.
Women are frequently warned about independent international travel. Unfortunately, it is true that
women are much more likely than men to be the victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault. In
virtually every country I have visited I heard from female travelers and volunteers who had been
subjected to frequent come ons, unwanted touching, or inappropriate comments, in the words of
one Peace Corps volunteer. Harassment and assault range from verbal harassment, to crude
propositions, to groping (especially by men in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

strategies from local women. In Mexico, for example, women often sit together, even if they don t

Be careful about letting your guard down while on vacation. Travel with a group at night.
Before you leave home, talk to other women who have traveled in the countries you plan to visit.
The in country program director cautioned us against looking or staring at the men for too long
at a time; this could be misinterpreted since the women in the local villages were taught not to
make eye contact with the men. Be ready to give up some freedoms that you are used to at
home. Females must take care with their dealings with any male older than 14 and younger than
75. I was often misunderstood at first and didn t realize that plain speaking and looking at a man
directly when speaking to him could be misinterpreted as flirting. I learned quickly to be very
formal and to always involve several people in any conversation. Don t be afraid to ask about the
security situation where you are posted and find out about any prior incidents that may have
occurred in the area. When it comes to your life, you can t be too cautious. No matter what you

Theme Of Marriage In Shiloh
Marriage is Like a Battlefield The central idea for Bobbie Ann Mason s Shiloh is that sometimes
people in a relationship want completely different things. Leroy was in an accident that broke
his leg, causing him to have to stay home. His wife Norma Jean didn t want him there. Norma
Jean started to become independent and the supporter of the family. After some drama about
their dead son, Randy, Norma Jean s mother, Mabel, told Leroy that he needed to take Norma
Jean to Shiloh. She said that that was where she had her honeymoon and it would help Leroy and
Norma Jean s marriage. Norma Jean and Leroy went to Shiloh, while there Norma Jean told
Leroy that she wanted to leave him. He told her that he wouldn t let her, but Norma Jean said she
was going to do it. She walked through the cemetery, stopped and started doing chest exercises.
After his accident, Leroy started to want to go back in time and redo everything. He wanted a
version of his past that he never had. Leroy thought that his wife would ve been ecstatic that he d be
home all the time, and that their marriage would thrive since they got to spend more time together.

Globe Theater Essay
Unlike today s spectacles, a Shakespearean playhouse goer really had to use their imagination;
there were no backdrops, no lighting to speak of, horrific acoustics, and few, if any, props (
Shaking it up with Shakespeare 4). You really had to imagine a performance going on in the Globe,
you weren t just going to sit down and watch you had to think about what was going on. When the

with the people around them and taught them a lot about literature. The Globe theater was one of

Even though it was a good growth between the connection of the social classes, there was some

Chicago Bears Case Analysis
The 2016 season was a disappointment for the Chicago Bears. They finished with a record of 3
13, Quarterback Jay Cutler and wide receiver Kevin White were both dealing with injuries, wide
receiver Alshon Jeffery was suspended for four games due to PEDs, and the defense struggled.
Despite all the bad moments the Bears had last season, there were still some bright spots such as
rookie running back Jordan Howard rushing for 1,313 yards and wide receiver Cam Meredith
becoming a playmaker in the Chicago s offense. Out of the two scenarios, Meredith becoming a
viable option was not expected before the season began. The expectation was that Jeffery, White,

Out of three, Cutler has the strongest arm but he only played in five games. Meredith s best
games happened with either Barkley or Hoyer under center. Last season, he had four games of
100 plus receiving yards, including his first ever start, which happened in Week 5 against the
Indianapolis Colts on the road. The 6 foot 3 Meredith dominated in the Bears 29 23 loss, playing
opposite Jeffery. He had nine receptions (12 targets) for 130 yards and a touchdown. His
touchdown came in the second quarter after Howard ran for 57 yards. On second and goal,
Hoyer found Meredith who faked Colts cornerback Patrick Robinson into thinking he was
running a curl route and put on a double move for a touchdown in the back of the end zone. https:

against the Washington Redskins. Even though the Bears lost 41 21, Meredith put on a show with
nine receptions (12 targets) for 135 yards. The potential Meredith showed last season should make
the Bears feel comfortable about potentially making him the No.1 wide receiver. But that may not
be easy because White is still there and they are probably hoping the former seventh overall pick
can stay healthy and put together a productive season. Not to mention, over the offseason, Chicago
added wide receivers Victor Cruz, Markus Wheaton, and Kendall Wright. None of

Devotions In Catholic Religion
The Catholic Church has many devotions that popes, bishops, priests, deacons, and lay people
say and do in their everyday life. Devotions are practices of piety which is not part of the Liturgy
of the Church but is part of the spiritual practices of Catholics. Some examples of devotions
Catholics practice in their everyday lives are the Mass, the rosary, novenas, adoration in front of the
Eucharist, veneration to the saints, the Liturgy of the Hours, wearing scapulars and wearing
medals, and many others. Devotions are made to help people grow in their faith and love for Jesus.
The Liturgy of the Hours has three names. The three names are The Liturgy of the Hours, the
Divine Office, and the Breviary. The latin word for The Liturgy of the Hours is Liturgia
Horarum. This consists of mainly Psalms, added by hymns, readings, and other prayers. The
Liturgy of the Hours is the official prayer of the church, said many times in the day in order to
sanctify it. Clergy and religious officials have an obligation to say it because of the Canon Law as

Robert B Palmer Apology For Medea
In Robert. B Palmer s article, Apology for Jason, Palmer argues the treatment of the Greek hero
Jason from Euripides Medea by discussing the context for the time of the play and also the
importance of the terminology used.
Palmer begins his argument stating that critics of Greek tragedies, especially those by Euripides, all
consistently agree with the notion what Jason is an unlikeable hero. Palmer disagrees with this and
brings forth his argument that the 5th century audience would have been more understanding
towards Jason than the more recent critics of the 19th and 20th century (49).
Drawing on the the opinions of other commenters such as Bates and Norwood, Palmer strengthens
his argument that Jason was not written to be an unlikable character (49). It is at this point that
Palmer begins to explain the normal fundamental aspects of a Greek tragedy which are present in
Medea, however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pro Medea faction, which is made up of persons from oppressed groups (Corinthian women,
the nurse and the schoolteacher), are the only group which refer to Medea with language which
would point Medea as a gunГЁ, a legal wife to Jason (52). Palmer mentions that despite this
language used by the pro Medea group, Medea shows signs of knowing herself that she is less
than a wife by referencing how she was carried off from a distant land, much how a concubine
would have been (52). Palmer has done this to prove his point that Medea is self aware of the
situation she has put Jason in, thus should understand the circumstances. However, Jason takes
responsibility for his connection to Medea and admits that her children are his but adds that he is
not married to an Athenian woman but to a barbarian (52). Palmer concludes the issues surrounding
the terminology, stating that the different use of language cannot conclusively argue Medea s
position in relation to Jason

Speech On Self Confidence
Self Confidence... Something every girl lacks at some point in their life. When we see other
girls laughing and smiling and dressed in the cutest outfit and totally rocking it, we
automatically think bad about ourselves and how we don t like the way we look or feel. But we
don t always deal with self confidence in the same way others do. Some put more makeup on,
some put fancier clothes on, and some do the exact opposite of that and wear no makeup and
only comfy clothes. What really is Self Confidence? In the Urban Dictionary the definition of Self
Confidence is to be content with who you are mentally and physically. Studies have shown, the
level of self confidence that you have in yourself can tell others many things about you. But how
do we really build our self confidence? How do we become that perfect girlthat we all see and want
to be? The truth is, is that we will never ever be the girl we see across the room that is
surrounded by everyone laughing and looking like she has the perfect life. It is impossible to be
someone else. Of course, you could maybe dress like her, talk like her, and maybe even do the
same things she does on a day to day basis like her. But, in the end that will get you nowhere. You
will realize that it doesn t really work and you still aren t happy with yourself, and that is
because you tried to be someone you are not. Instead of focusing on something or someone we
can t be, we have to learn how to focus on being the person we can be and the person we are and
how to modify ourselves for us and not for anything or anyone else.
So, how do we really build this personal self confidence that we all want? The truth is, it s not an
easy fix. It is one of those situations that take effort and time to see change. The first thing we
are going to look at is our appearance. For this self confidence study we are going to call it
beauty self esteem . Studies have proven that when a women wears clothing that they personally
pick out and are comfortable in, they feel more happy and confident and ready for the day to
come. Try to start picking out things that you like, it doesn t matter what the style is as long as you
like what you have picked out. Today, the style is self confidence and

Belief Systems In Australia Essay
Introduction: Belief systems have positively affected society, as can be seen in Australia,
Switzerland, and my home country Indonesia. Although conflicts happen because of belief systems,
such as the discrimination of indigenous peoples ( United Nations Declaration on the Rights of
Indigenous Peoples, 4 5), it will continue to affect the world this way unless certain actions are
taken, but I am hopeful that beliefsystems will continue to be a positive impact towards the world.
Global Perspective: Belief systems play a positive role in maintaining peace in Australia, such as
Christians and Muslims sharing a safe haven together, but Christianity has 3 major positive
influences today in Australia: the well known international band Hillsong, and it can prove its
positive effects by attracting a few hundred thousand people to a camp or a Praise and Worship

Jefferson Vs Madison
In the election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson, a Democratic Republican, defeated John Adams of the
Federalist party which ignited a political panic within the Federalist party. In a final attempt to
maintain Federalist power, John Adams created several federal judgeships which included the
justice of the peace commissions which is the position that John Adams nominated William
Marbury for. Due to the late nature of these appointees the word did not make it from Secretary of
State John Marshall to William Marbury before the new Jefferson administration took over. Thomas
Jeffersonwas not going to let this sort of thing go unnoticed. Jefferson preceded to order the new
Secretary of State, James Madison, not to give William Marbury his commission.... Show more

Madison was incredibly important to the future of our government because it allowed the Supreme
Court to become its own political and constitutional branch of the government. The Supreme Court
case set precedence for judicial review which is still used within the court today. The power to
review federal legislation was a landmark decision and it has severed its purpose within our federal
government for over 200 years. John Marshall s decision allowed the Republican and Federalist
party to proceed without gaining too much political control. The decision also served as another
check which balances our federal government to ensure that there is no collaboration within
different branches to proceed with federal legislation that would violate the rights of individuals in
the United States. Without the power of judicial review, many landmark cases may have ended with
a different result. The Supreme Court has used judicial review to rule that the United States
government has certain implied powers under the Constitution, it has also ruled that police must
inform suspects of their rights before questioning, and that separate schools are not equal. Many of
the cases that the Supreme Court has ruled on using judicial review have been landmark cases that
have advocated for the rights of individuals and institutions under the laws of the constitution. It has
also ruled that the President of the United States is not above the law. Without the

the United States Census Bureau, Orange County inhabits approximately 770, 513 Spanish

Some immigrants have trouble adapting to a new lifestyle because of limited resources. Yet, other
immigrants who did not have much of a difficult time were able to integrate Spanish into a new
society. For instance, Areli Martinez, a Mexican immigrant studying Psychology at UCLA, moved
to the U.S. with her family in pursuit of better quality of life did not experience much difficulty in
adjusting. From an email interview (see email interview above), she mentions her experiences as a
Spanish speaker in California. Although it was not difficult for Martinez to adjust, her implications
included language barriers and weak cultural values (see email response below). Due to language
barriers and lack of cultural values, Martinez struggled with grammar and placing her thoughts on

Nikola Tesla s Accomplishments
Our world has experienced many bright scholars, inventors, and innovators. However, many of
them are not well known. A great example of one of these people is Nikola Tesla. Born in Smiljab,
Croatia, to Гђuka and Milutin Tesla, Tesla was bright at a young age. In addition, he outsmarted
Thomas Edison, had many great accomplishments, and had a quiet later life.
Even at a young age, Tesla was very intelligent. He was born on July 10th, 1856, and had four
siblings, although his brother, Dane Tesla, died after falling from a horse. His mother created
various appliances to make life easier, which may have influenced Nikola to want to become an
engineer. His father was not only a priest but a writer. The first sign of his intelligence was the fact

Organ And Tissue Regeneration And Organ Systems
In the human body, the integration of cells into tissues, organs and organ systems is the
propelling force behind maintaining homeostasis. Due to the intricate relationship of organ
systems with each other, a dysfunction in one organ might have a domino effect on other tissues
and organs within the body and since the human body is far from perfect, mutations, drugs, or
pathogens may lead to cellular damage at a microscopic level, which could then lead to the
deterioration of organs at a macroscopic level. In the past, organ failure was fatal and very little
could be done to reverse the process. However, thanks to the integration of various disciplines with
present day technology, organs and tissues can be regenerated through a multitude of distinct
procedures involving a team of individuals across various professions. Without the incorporation
of the works of doctors, mathematicians, physicists, material scientists, biochemists, and
molecular biologists, these life saving procedures may have not been possible. Organ and tissue
regeneration is prevalent in many aspects of nature, such as in the regeneration of starfish arms or
planarians. In fact, according to Mayo Clinic, the human liver is also known to regenerate itself in
response to mild damage. However, the damage to organs and tissues can be irreversible, such as
extensive liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis or excessive alcohol consumption or a severe
myocardial infarction that can lead to the death of heart tissue.

What Is The Role Of Sympathy In Wordsworth s Old Man...
Adam Smith and was a great 19th century philosopher whose famous analytical work on sympathy,
The Theory of Moral Sentiments , continues to be the source of much contemporary speculation
and debate. To offer a general viewpoint of the Smithian model of sympathy, the term to
sympathize means to feel and to be able to relate to the pain and the sufferingof others but only to a
certain extent.
The ideas of sympathy presented in the Smithian model play a significant role in supporting voice
in prominent works by offering a stage on which the narrator can persuade and provoke his
targeted audience. One notable work which possesses this structure is Wordsworth s Old Man
Traveling (1798). The poem Old Man Traveling is a metaphor that creates sympathy by presenting
the narration through a paradoxical loudspeaker: a man appears serene and nonchalant while
journeying with the burden of a personal tragedy. The work incorporates and presents the strengths
and weaknesses of the Smithian model to varying degrees. In order to evoke sympathy in the
reader, Wordsworth s narrator paints his subject as an enduring hero , creates a contrast in feelings
of the man and of those around him, and showcases the incongruences between the man s reactions
to his contemporary dilemma.
The narrator first opens the story with The little hedge row birds, / That peck along the road,
regard him not (Wordsworth 1 2), indicating nature s obliviousness to the traveler s presence.

Life And The Truth Behind Of Siddhartha, Phaedrus, And...
Part 1 Siddhartha, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and Oedipus the King, while
seemingly being very different stories, all have similar ideas about truth and meaning, knowledge
versus wisdom, and the impact of oneself internally, which all culminate into the realization of
value within oneself. To find the truth it has been said that one has to look within. It is within those
parameters that Siddhartha, Phaedrus, and Oedipus found what they searched so longingly for. On
the topic of Siddhartha, his search for enlightenment was more of a search for the meaning of life
and the truth behind it. As Thomas J. Schoenberg and Lawrence J. Trudeau put it, The novel, which

In Siddhartha, Siddhartha himself states that, any truth can only be expressed and put into words
when it is one sided. (Hesse, 129). meaning that truth can only be found on your side, because the
truth could be interpreted multiple different ways depending on your perspective. That point is
further enforced within Zen, as Phaedrus ponders existence. But no one is willing to give up the
truth as he sees it,... (Pirsig, 74). As for Oedipus, there is no exact quote available to support the
ideas of truth and meaning, however the development of his learning throughout the story, and the
moral of the story to be learned provide the evidence to support the existence of truth and meaning
within the story. Oedipus learns what he desires to know about Thebes and why it was crumbling
only by discovering his own history. And through that he learned why they must endure the trials
and tribulations that were brought about by the gods. So while these characters developed how to
come up with the truth, they still did not know how to apply it, which leads to the battle between
knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge, just knowing the facts, versus wisdom, having experienced
the facts firsthand, are two very different ideas. Knowledge itself is able to be taught, thanks to
instructors. However, wisdom is not able to be passed down, because people are unable to project
experiences onto other people. It is impossible to tell the story of your experience and expect the

There are some interest groups that are extremely powerful and exercise considerable influence
over the formation of public policy, whereas others are ineffectual and weak. (101). There are
various factors that make a group more powerful than the other. Financial resources determines
the group s power. Organizations representing large co operations are at a much better position
to raise funds. It is unfair for regular citizens because they would not be heard because of less
collective power and less money for campaign contributions. Citizens need to be heard too,
regardless of their financial capabilities. Powerful interest groups do not make it possible for the
citizens voices to be heard. The same applies to the groups that represent low income people, they
have it difficult raising the money required for lobbying. Overally, lobbying and interest groups are
in the best interest of democracy. A recent study by lawmakers of Wisconsin, found that lobbying
has a significant effect on legislative outcomes. Lobbying has a negative connotation for many

Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization
Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to
operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many
countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their
countries. According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately
35.6% of all clothing and shoes sold in the United Stateswere actually manufactured in China,
compared to just 3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the
globalization of the economy for not only domestic economic growth, but also international
economic growth. Some people think globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy
among people and nations. However, it creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First
of all, even though globalization has made the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer,
the globalization of the economy can influence many people positively. Through international trade,
people can acquire cheaper goods and services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour
are cheaper in developing countries, businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if
they were made domestically. As a result, we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies
which produce cell phones, televisions, and other electronic devices built factories in China and
Vietnam to manufacture their products. In addition to obtaining cheap goods and services,
globalization can contribute to more job opportunities overseas. Increased globalization influences
the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people can get new jobs which were not
popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific jobs, such as market
research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1 million people
because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows people to have
the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own country because of
world trade. Some countries do not have the ability to create certain goods domestically, such as
mangoes, avocados, bananas, papayas, etc.

What Is The Theme Of Paul s Case By Willa Cather
From the time of the Industrial Revolution to now, people have been on the hunt for wealth.
Those that are poor wish for riches, those that are rich only want more. Willa Cather wrote Paul s
Case back in 1905 with this same idea in mind. The question has been asked since even before
then, does money bring happiness? To those that have little would think that getting money will
solve all their problems but those with much can attest to having other types of problems money
cannot fix. In Paul s Case , Willa Catherdemonstrates that having monetary wealth does not always

This achievement occurred during the Age of Enlightenment. Smallpox could not be completely

Occupational health was also focused and several occupational ailments were understood and

The Importance Of Generation Gaps In The Workplace
Chapter Three
Introduction
Generation gaps in the workplace is nothing new. To be effective with all generations in the
workforce today companies must know each generation individually. This would include each
unique background, personality, preferences, and style. When companies know generational
information it adds tremendous valuable to the recruiting process of any company. (Miner, J.
B.2015) Lack of attention to each generational differences will make any company less attractive to
young recruits. This will result in higher recruiting costs and greater difficulty in finding the right
employees. (Lieber, L. D. 2010) Critical management skills will involve understanding generational
differences in order to strengthen work relationships between and among employees especially with
Generation X and Generation Y. By taking the time to understanding how these two groups
Generation X and Generation Y are actually coming together should help companies design work
/life programs that can help them train, develop, and retain employees. It should also lead to ideas
on how the generations can work together most effectively and efficiently. (Alverson, M. 1999)
Research context
My initial research question that lead this thesis was What are the different workplace motivators
for Generation X and Generation Y? which later lead me to narrow my paper to come up with
suggestions that companies can benefit from by understanding what motivates these two
generations. For the

Bucky Cantor s Heroic Struggle In Nemesis By Philip Roth
In the novel Nemesis, by Philip Roth, the central character, Bucky Cantor, has a personal desire
for some heroic challenge. This desire originated from his upbringing from his maternal
grandparents after his mother died giving birth and after his father left Bucky at an early age. His
grandfather in particular raised the young Bucky Cantor to embody and espouse the masculine
virtues. These virtues included bravery, accepting responsibility, and making the best out of what
is provided. With the life lessons of his grandfather, Bucky was able to grow up, in spite of
severely poor vision and lack of immediate parents, to become a young man of excellent physical
prowess and mental fortitude. One roadblock Bucky overcame was when he was barred entry into
the military, preventing him from fighting with his close friends and for a chance at challenging
gallantry. True to his grandfather s lessons during childhood, he made do with his circumstances
and fought another conflict of a different nature.
During most of the novel, Bucky Cantor was employed as a teacher and playground director of a

As a first step, the professors organize students into groups of four to five people, balancing the
groups based on both academic major and performance in the class to date (including

is used to encourage students to learn from each other, to motivate students to consider alternative

Courage In Finding Forrester
Having courage to accomplish a new task may not only be extremely difficult for most, but also
harder for one to apply that courage to go out of their way to an unfamiliar place. In the movie

a paper that he wrote for Crawford s class, but the catch behind is that the beginning of the paper
is actually Forrester s work. This accusation on Jamal creates a new conflict not only for Jamal,
but also for Forrester. Jamals conflict is to either break his promise with Forrester or risk being
accused of cheating. For Forrester, his obstacle is to either overcome his fear or let Jamal suffer
from his mistake. Forrester builds up his courage and goes to read one of Jamal s writings to the
class, and prove that he did not actually plagiarize. Since Forrester secluded himself from all of
society because of his self guilt, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to go out into an
unfamiliar place, especially to a classroom with a professor who attempted to tear him down by
criticizing Forrester.Movielocity (2000) stated, It comes down to a moment of truth for both

themselves. For Forrester, it was to either remain secluded or to see the world through new eyes
and to help his friend. Since Forrester gained confidence from Jamal, it helped him to make the
right decision with his inner conflict and go to Crawfords classroom and see the world through

Taking a Look at Cupping
Cupping is a form of therapy in which a glass or bamboo cup is placed onto the acupuncture
points of the skin after heat has been applied inside the cup to create a negative pressure. This
pressure causes the skin and underlying tissues to rise into the cup. The purpose of this is to
make sure that all of the toxins escape the body and increase blood flow around the areas that
have been blocked. Cupping originates from China and is widely used to treat areas where there
are qi (vital energy) and blood stagnation (Leung, Xue, and Cheng, 40). This flow is interrupted
because there is an imbalance in the body. In this case, the imbalance causes musculoskeletal
problems, lung problems, as well as swelling. Getting rid of the imbalance allows the qi and blood
to flow freely in which diminishes any physical pain and illnesses. In the East, chinese healers first
practiced this type of therapy approximately three thousand years ago to treat specific illnesses.
They used animal horns because those were the only things that resembled a cup at that time. In
addition, this therapy was known as the horn method, (Xiaofei, 242) partially due to the tool that
they had to use. However, as technology advanced, bamboo cups replaced animal horns, and
eventually glass cups became the primary tool for cupping. Therefore, cupping became the common
name for this form of therapy. In the West, cupping originated in Egypt, around 1550 B.C. The
Egyptians utilized cupping to cure just about any

recognize their common sense; if they don t, they not only blaspheme the political heritage, they
ignore the common ties that bind all the Americans. She wants all the Americans to form or bound
together by common spirit, sharing in a common endeavor; or have the America become a divided
nation? She mentions that there is no law that require the American people to form a national
community; if people must do as individuals, there will be no president of the United States who
can veto that decision. She wants people that they cannot improve on the system of government
handed down to them by the founders of the Republic; there is no way to improve by that. There
will always be a way to implement that system and go for their destiny. According to Aristotle,
ethos means that the persuader convinces someone else of their character or credibility or appeal
to ethics; pathos means the persuader convince the audience of an argument by creating an
emotional response or appeal to emotions; and logos means that the persuader is persuading an
audience by reason or appeal to logic. Ethos can make a person sound fair or unbiased, person
could also introduce their expertise or pedigree, and a person could use the correct grammar and
syntax when it comes to using the appropriate language. Pathos can make an audience feel
sympathy from the persuader or to make them

A Missionary Is An Ambassador Of Christ
A missionary is an ambassador of Christ. Each must be yielded to the Lord, loving Him with all the
heart, soul, mind, and strength. Specifically, a missionary is one whom God sends through the
support of the Church to the unreached. All Christians, however, are called to be missionaries of
the Gospel. The Lord works through them to rescue the lost and hurting in this world. The lifestyle
is definitely not easy and is very extreme at times. Christianityis synonymous with a life of extreme
danger. Yet even though personal hostility, danger, and martyrdom may not be present in your life,
there is something else you are experiencing in your current Christian walk. Today in the world
there are hundreds of thousands of countries that are either... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While in the service Saint was dismissed from his dreams of being a military pilot because of an
incessant battle with an infection in one leg. It was during these hard moments of his life that God
started to reveal his plans for Saint, to be a full time missionary. Nate wrote, I ve always believed
that if the Lord wants a guy in full time service on the mission field, he would make him
unbearably miserable in the pursuit of any other end. This God did, through different affairs that
Saint pursued God continued to clarify this vision. It was in a short stint of plane repair in Mexico
that Saint demonstrated to others his unique mechanical ability in making repairs to planes in
difficult to impossible circumstances . Hard flying circumstances were not far off.
Eventually God had pressed Ecuador on the heart of Saint and his wife Marj, he later wrote of
Marj that the Lord surely knew that in this kind of work I would need a partner with a brain like
a filing cabinet and one incapable of saying can t . As they began their lives in Ecuador, the
purpose of the mission became clear, and was twofold: to provide adequate supply line for the
present work and make possible deeper penetration into the jungle for further work. Saint quickly
realized that there were only two types of landing areas in these areas, at the top of

Greek Miracle Research Paper
The Greek Miracle was a revolution of thought that swept over Greece during a time of confusion
and fear of the unknown. During this time period, mankind realized what mankind was, and the
people of Greece began to change what had been originally thought and done. Although the exact
time of when this period took place is unknown, the ripple effect has been crucial to the world
today. The world became rational in the most irrational way. Writers during the time of the Greek
Miracle painted a picture of a world consisting of men with invincible strength yet a family and a
home life. Their gods and goddesses took the shape of conventional human beings. Although much
of literature has evolved since this time, the wild and spectacularly creative... Show more content on

The King of Sparta asked his brother, King of the Mycenaeans to help rescue her. This led to a
decade long war between the two empires that was recorded, if it is more than a myth, by Homer.
The most well known story of the Trojan War is the winning attack Trojan Horse. The Greek army
left a giant wooden horse outside the gates of Troy, the confused trojans brought the gift inside the
walls and left it overnight. When the sun went down and the streets were quiet, the army climbed
out of the horse and destroyed

Reflection Paper On Rock Of Ages
On 21 July 2017, I attended the Rock of Ages jukebox musical, which incorporated popular 1980
s rock music with the love story of an upcoming rock star and a hopeful actress. Apart from the
cast, dancers and ensemble, there was Ben Walley on keyboard, Phil Simpson on electric guitar,
Greg Fryhling on bass guitar, and Ben Chambers on percussion. The performance took place at
the CBC outdoor Diane Hoch Amphitheatre, which was set up to look like the Bourbon Room
in Las Angeles in the 1980 s. The walls were made of brick, with signs saying, Hollywood BLVD
and live nudes, with a sign saying girls, with an arrow pointing to a door. The audience dressed
casual, however, there were some who dressed up like the 1980 s. The performers, however,
were dressed like rock stars and waitresses, acting out the 1980 s. The performance was laid
back, the performers made jokes and the audience would laugh, and at the end of a scene the
audience would clap. The musical consisted of 2 acts, and in the following paragraphs I will
explain how the musicand the performance made me feel, the good and the bad.
The performance began with a beautiful introduction, followed by the beginning of the song
Come On Feel The Noize, by Quiet Riot. During the introduction, the music made me feel free
and alive. I could picture myself drinking a cold beer with a guitar in my lap. Immediately
following the beginning of the song Noize was the song Just Like Paradise, by David Lee Roth,
which flowed

  • 2. George Washington s Effect On The French And Indian War In 1753 George Washington, who was 21, went to confront the French in the Ohio country by Lieutenant governor Dinwiddie. Washington s journey to the Fort Le Beouf made Washington famous on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1754 Washington made a surprise attack on a small French army at Jumonville Glen. This helped to make the French and Indian war. In the following year Washington joined Major General Edward Braddock on his march to Fort Duquesne. Following the British failure to capture Fort Duquesne in 1754, British men assigned General Edward Braddock the task of going to the Forks of Ohio and removing the French from the region. Joining Braddock on the expedition was Washington. Washington played an important role in saving Braddock s army from death during the French and Indian War. This restored Washington s reputation as a good leader after his defeat at Fort Necessity. The march to Fort Duquesne was slow and Braddock left about one third of his force to bring the supply train, while pressing on through forest country with perhaps 1,500 men. They found rude messages left by the French on the trees that were stripped bare of bark. • 3. Citizenship As A Citizen Of A State A broad description of citizenship is to be a citizen of a state. This can entail numerous responsibilities and opportunities. With that in mind, it is easier to think of citizenship not just as something that is owned and held, like a piece of paper, but instead is a responsibility that holds positive consequences if a citizen upholds their end of the deal. Not only is it a responsibility, but it is a type of contract between the individual and the state. By making it a contract it holds those responsibilities and rewards that both sides obtain and uphold at an equal matter. Although some freedoms are often given up for citizenship, there is an understanding that the contract between the state and the citizen is not lessened. With the idea of a contract, it is interesting to explore what are the rights and responsibilities of both the individual and the state, and also how far does the state extend in the sense of citizenship as a contract, it is possible to have global citizenship. When discussing any sort of contract, an individual is generally more interested in how it benefits themselves. These benefits are known as rights. For these purposes, rights are something that are given to a citizen when they receive citizenship. In the United States, these include things such as the right to vote or the right to own a gun. What makes rights and freedoms different is that a right is not automatically assumed by a person what this means is that, a person can buy a gun for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From an email interview (see email interview above), she mentions her experiences as a Spanish speaker in California. Although it was not difficult for Martinez to adjust, her implications included language barriers and weak cultural values (see email response below). Due to language barriers and lack of cultural values, Martinez struggled with grammar and placing her thoughts on paper when she was younger, but she was later able to persevere in learning English from cultural diversity and freedom to create her own values. Further, she also realizes that importance of Spanish in both the U.S. and Mexico (Martinez). • 24. Organ And Tissue Regeneration And Organ Systems In the human body, the integration of cells into tissues, organs and organ systems is the propelling force behind maintaining homeostasis. Due to the intricate relationship of organ systems with each other, a dysfunction in one organ might have a domino effect on other tissues and organs within the body and since the human body is far from perfect, mutations, drugs, or pathogens may lead to cellular damage at a microscopic level, which could then lead to the deterioration of organs at a macroscopic level. In the past, organ failure was fatal and very little could be done to reverse the process. However, thanks to the integration of various disciplines with present day technology, organs and tissues can be regenerated through a multitude of distinct procedures involving a team of individuals across various professions. Without the incorporation of the works of doctors, mathematicians, physicists, material scientists, biochemists, and molecular biologists, these life saving procedures may have not been possible. Organ and tissue regeneration is prevalent in many aspects of nature, such as in the regeneration of starfish arms or planarians. In fact, according to Mayo Clinic, the human liver is also known to regenerate itself in response to mild damage. However, the damage to organs and tissues can be irreversible, such as extensive liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis or excessive alcohol consumption or a severe myocardial infarction that can lead to the death of heart tissue. ... • 25. What Is The Role Of Sympathy In Wordsworth s Old Man... Adam Smith and was a great 19th century philosopher whose famous analytical work on sympathy, The Theory of Moral Sentiments , continues to be the source of much contemporary speculation and debate. To offer a general viewpoint of the Smithian model of sympathy, the term to sympathize means to feel and to be able to relate to the pain and the sufferingof others but only to a certain extent. The ideas of sympathy presented in the Smithian model play a significant role in supporting voice in prominent works by offering a stage on which the narrator can persuade and provoke his targeted audience. One notable work which possesses this structure is Wordsworth s Old Man Traveling (1798). The poem Old Man Traveling is a metaphor that creates sympathy by presenting the narration through a paradoxical loudspeaker: a man appears serene and nonchalant while journeying with the burden of a personal tragedy. The work incorporates and presents the strengths and weaknesses of the Smithian model to varying degrees. In order to evoke sympathy in the reader, Wordsworth s narrator paints his subject as an enduring hero , creates a contrast in feelings of the man and of those around him, and showcases the incongruences between the man s reactions to his contemporary dilemma. The narrator first opens the story with The little hedge row birds, / That peck along the road, regard him not (Wordsworth 1 2), indicating nature s obliviousness to the traveler s presence. Part 1 Siddhartha, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and Oedipus the King, while seemingly being very different stories, all have similar ideas about truth and meaning, knowledge versus wisdom, and the impact of oneself internally, which all culminate into the realization of value within oneself. To find the truth it has been said that one has to look within. It is within those parameters that Siddhartha, Phaedrus, and Oedipus found what they searched so longingly for. As for Oedipus, there is no exact quote available to support the ideas of truth and meaning, however the development of his learning throughout the story, and the moral of the story to be learned provide the evidence to support the existence of truth and meaning within the story. Oedipus learns what he desires to know about Thebes and why it was crumbling only by discovering his own history. And through that he learned why they must endure the trials and tribulations that were brought about by the gods. So while these characters developed how to come up with the truth, they still did not know how to apply it, which leads to the battle between knowledge and wisdom. • 31. Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their countries. According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately 35.6% of all clothing and shoes sold in the United Stateswere actually manufactured in China, compared to just 3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the globalization of the economy for not only domestic economic growth, but also international economic growth. Some people think globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy among people and nations. However, it creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First of all, even though globalization has made the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer, the globalization of the economy can influence many people positively. Through international trade, people can acquire cheaper goods and services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour are cheaper in developing countries, businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if they were made domestically. As a result, we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies which produce cell phones, televisions, and other electronic devices built factories in China and Vietnam to manufacture their products. In addition to obtaining cheap goods and services, globalization can contribute to more job opportunities overseas. Increased globalization influences the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people can get new jobs which were not popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific jobs, such as market research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1 million people because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows people to have the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own country because of world trade. Some countries do not have the ability to create certain goods domestically, such as mangoes, avocados, bananas, papayas, etc. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When companies know generational information it adds tremendous valuable to the recruiting process of any company. (Miner, J. • 38. Taking a Look at Cupping Cupping is a form of therapy in which a glass or bamboo cup is placed onto the acupuncture points of the skin after heat has been applied inside the cup to create a negative pressure. This pressure causes the skin and underlying tissues to rise into the cup. The purpose of this is to make sure that all of the toxins escape the body and increase blood flow around the areas that have been blocked. Cupping originates from China and is widely used to treat areas where there are qi (vital energy) and blood stagnation (Leung, Xue, and Cheng, 40). This flow is interrupted because there is an imbalance in the body. In this case, the imbalance causes musculoskeletal problems, lung problems, as well as swelling. Getting rid of the imbalance allows the qi and blood to flow freely in which diminishes any physical pain and illnesses. In the East, chinese healers first practiced this type of therapy approximately three thousand years ago to treat specific illnesses. They used animal horns because those were the only things that resembled a cup at that time. In addition, this therapy was known as the horn method, (Xiaofei, 242) partially due to the tool that they had to use. However, as technology advanced, bamboo cups replaced animal horns, and eventually glass cups became the primary tool for cupping. Therefore, cupping became the common name for this form of therapy. Reflection Paper On Rock Of Ages On 21 July 2017, I attended the Rock of Ages jukebox musical, which incorporated popular 1980 s rock music with the love story of an upcoming rock star and a hopeful actress.
