Marketing Strategy Of Nokia
Background
Nokia was the world s largest mobile phone maker for 14 years. The company was once acclaimed for
its marketing strategy success for changing mobile phones from just a communication device to
everyday fashion accessories. However, in today s global smartphone market, Nokia has only 3% of
the market share and is declining. The company s decreasing sales was an obvious sign of
vulnerability leading to the selloff of its mobile device business to Microsoft in 2013 (Surowiecki,
2013).
Marketing Concept
The marketing concept is the philosophy that companies analyze consumers needs and then develop
products or services to satisfy them ( Marketing Principle , 2012, p. 11). For Nokia, before Microsoft
acquiring its business unit, mobile phone was its number one offerings. The company was able to
create and define the market from its superior smartphone designs and early adoption of technologies
such as operating systems, Global System for Mobile communication (GSM), and built in camera
(Khedekar, 2012).
Marketing Strategy Shortcomings
One of the most significant factors of Nokia s decreasing footprint is its failed marketing strategy. The
shortcomings of Nokia s marketing strategy include the lack of early recognition of its opportunities

SWOT analysis is a crucial tool in understanding internal and external factors contributing to the
product s marketing strategy and the overall business strategy ( Marketing Principle , 2012, p. 41).
The areas that could have changed the history of Nokia are opportunities and threats. On opportunity
side, Nokia did well in recognizing growth opportunity in Europe market. For threat, Apple and
Samsung were clearly the biggest threats from competition standpoint. Nokia had technology to fend
them off, but due to internal pressure and bureaucracy, the company was unsuccessful in maintaining
its market

Critical Analysis Of Faces Of Japan
Bias and preposterous assumptions about a foreign society are a detriment to the image of that society.
Creating a burden to the future comprehension of said society. Doctor David C. Unger, former foreign
affairs editorial writer for the New York Times, has stated and debunked said stereotypes in his
editorial titled Faces of Japan. In it, Unger argues that Japanese stereotypes are utterly incorrect and
the presumptions surrounding Japanese culture are outdated. Japan s culture is not static, Japanese
people are not spending every living moment in remorse after the events of WWII. Unger argues this
point through the explicit comparison of Japan in 1992 to Japan in 1945. The goal that Unger is trying
to achieve is to compel the audience to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its young people are highly educated, fashion conscious and remarkably well traveled. Unger has
depicted a visual of Japan s youth in the minds of the audience. The audience is focused on the idea
that Japanese people live just like any other society and establishes that there are now more
similarities between the reader and Japanese people. Imagery is an irresistible form of rhetoric to the
audience, it also helps the audience sympathize with Japanese people through shared experiences:
travel, education, fashion, etc... This imagery is effective on the audience, it paints a picture in the
reader s mind and is appealing to a feeling of commonality. In the minds of some Americans, Japan is
a; ...crude caricature, drawn from half digested sound bites and painted in racist hues. Unger is
describing the biased, and incorrect, ideas that surround Japan. The Japanese are portrayed as faceless
and conformist, their real feelings impenetrable to non Japanese. This supposedly monolithic society
is explained in terms of Japan s militarist traditions, its consensus style of politics and a shared
national anxiety over scarce resources. These are said to produce people committed to work
unceasingly so that Japan can dominate the world economically, and perhaps militarily too. ...
There are Japanese who think like that, but fewer than there used to be. Meanwhile a newer, youth
oriented leisure culture is emerging everywhere, from the nightclubs of Tokyo s Ginza and

Comparison Of Terry Fox And Maurice Richard
Terry Fox and Maurice Richard Canada s history is rich with leaders willing to bring change. Terry
Fox and Maurice Richard are two different notable Canadians who both had similar historical
significance and leadership abilities. This essay will be addressing their historical significance through
the quantity of lives they affected across the country and the durability of the impacts still evident
today, and their leadership ability of displaying determination by showing resilience in the face of
adversity. Terry Fox affected the lives of many across the country. For instance, Terry Fox helped
cancer patients by increasing their chances of survival with the money he raised from the Marathon of
Hope (terryfox.org). Terry also gave cancer patients courage, and inspired hope to see that cancer does
not kill their spirit (rw.runnersworld.com). Furthermore, Terry is an inspiration to cancer researchers,
scientists, clinicians, and countless students across the country. Cancer researcher Dr. Ling, who wears
a Terry Fox T shirt as his pajamas as a reminder of who he is and what he s done, told VICE Sports.
That is the impact that he had on myself (sports.vice.com). Evidently, Terry affected virtually every
Canadian s life. Almost one in every two Canadians is expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their
lifetime, and one in four Canadians will die from the disease (cbc.ca). This means that nearly every
Canadian will be diagnosed with cancer or know someone with

Analysis Of James Overcoming The World
James Chapter 1: 13 18 (State this twice)
Overcoming the World (State this twice)
There are times in our lives when our own lust leads to spiritual death. When such occurs, conceived
lust is sin which results in death, but God allows us to choose life.
The book of James was written by Jesus s Half brother James also known as the holy brother
(Matthew 13:55). He is also the brother of Jude. It was written about AD 50. and known as the letters
or the epistles. What picked my interest is James did not believe in Jesus mission on earth. He later
became an Apostle through Paul and was prominent in the church (Acts 15:13 22). James was writing
to the Christian Jews at that time who were being persecuted which took place in Palestine. He

In Romans 12: verses 1 2 states: I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And
do not be conformed to this world, be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may
prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. A mind that is not renewed in God s
word eventually becomes reprobate. Reprobate means unable to make a Godly judgment. This causes
you to reject God and the worldly things begin to make sense to you. (Romans 12: 1 2; Romans 1:28;
Psalm 81:11 12). If there is no hunger for the word of God in our lives, this leaves the door open for
evil, sin, and lust to come in our heart. In Jeremiah 17: 9 it states the heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked; who can know it? When we hear the word of God we must be doers of the
word. Let the word (Jesus) transform you into what he has called you to be. Act on the word for it is
truth not bondage to the believer. God s word that is implanted in our heart is liberating to the soul and
has the power to save us. We are God s prized

The Theme Of Dreams In The Crossover
In The Crossover written by Kwame Alexander, there are many themes that readers can find in the
novel. One of the themes is that dream is very important for one to live a better life. This is also the
theme in the poem Dreams written by Langston Hughes. Having one s own dream is very important
because the process of achieving the dream is more of value than the result itself. Dreams can enrich
people s lives and lighten their inside world. In The Crossover, Josh Bell is fond of playing basketball
and his dream is to go to the University of Duke. In order to reach his goal, he practices so hard in
school and home. I let him win and get ready to practice harder, (Alexander 57). The coach says one
who runs the fastest does not need to practice. Josh Bell is the quickest on the team; however, he
deliberately lets Vondie win. This is because he wants to practice more and become stronger than
anyone else on the team. It is an example of how Josh tries to make his dream come true. In the
process of realizing his dreams, Josh not only improves his basketball skills, but he also fulfills his life
by making friends with his teammates. In the poem Dreams, the writer says that Hold fast to dreams/
For when dreams go/ Life is a barren field/ Frozen with snow, (Hughes 5 8). These lines show that
dream is what brings people joy of life. If one does not have his own dream to realize, one will not
feel any passion in life. According to the two pieces of text, dream lightens people s

Research Paper On Freedom Of Speech

Kneel for the Cause
The first amendment of the United States is Freedom of Speech. What exactly is freedom of speech?
Freedom of speech is Congress not prohibiting the free exercise or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a
redress of grievances . In the majorities eyes it means the people of the United States should have the
right to express their disapproval and speak out on social injustices. In the NFL today several major
superstars have used their fame and staked their name on standing for what they believe is right.
Collin Kapernick the ex 49ner superstar quarter back is an example of an individual willing to stand
up against injustices not done to himself , but to be the symbol that social injustices today is not okay.
His protest by kneeling on one knee and his fist balled into the air; a symbol of pride and unity has
paved the way for other athletes to follow his lead. From big city stadiums to small town high school
fields, those broad stripes and bright stars are the expected musical preamble to our ballgames. Today
the anthem is at the center of an angry national debate. Some believe the melody means respect for the
fallen among our military and police. Others believe it means the entirety of American experience the
(Brady, 1). The president of the United States Donald Trump wants to force NFL owners to

Off-The-Rail Rules For Amusement Parks
Off the Rail Rules for Amusement Parks
I don t want the public to see the world they live in while they re in the park. I want them to feel they
re in another world. ~ Walt Disney
Some amusement parks are adequately acceptable; some are gloriously great! But the most
exceptionally excellent amusement park must contain several key elements to transport you into a
world filled with adventure, enjoyment, and imagination. Without rolling rides, soul saving safety,
fantastic food, and willing workers, a park cannot be extraordinary. These critical components keep a
park in ship shape condition for attendees and put the amusement in amusement park.
Obviously, an outstanding amusement park must include adrenaline pumping rides. There must be
rides with heaps of thrilling turns that climb to astounding heights. Furthermore, an extravagant ride
must include breath taking drops, screaming turns, rapid corkscrews, gravity defying loops, and
sudden blackouts. Such features make your heart beat rapidly and add to the excitement of the day.
Picture the clinkety clank of the chain pulling your very soul up to the roller coaster s apex. Feel the
cold air kissing your face as murmurs of fear and anticipation fight in your ears with the sound of your
racing pulse. Now you have reached the summit. Time stands still. This ... Show more content on

Research Examining a Previously-Developed Domain Model...
Introduction An essential component of access control has been secure and safe domain which is
composed of a collection of end users as well as objects handled with a typical security plan and based
on an individual authority. Together with the rising of shared sources, unauthorized accessibility to
data by unlawful users additionally heightens, it has been essential to secure information via user
validation and access control procedures (Yang, 2007). Domain Name Service (DNS) The explanation
of domains usually presumes that there has been a system that allows a domain host to intercept
communications. This type of system might permit domains to always be added as well as removed
devoid of influencing the whole process of servers interior or exterior the domain. Preferably, this
could be achieved by supplying a safe system for the domain host to identify, within the IP routing
stage, that network visitors headed for a specific server should be directed via the domain. Sadly, no
such system presently is available. This paper provides some alternate systems as well as their weak
points (Condell, 1996). To be able to streamline our argument, we ll present a brand new phrase, the
path. A path has been a listing of domains via which some sort of request should travel to be able to
get to the specific server that may process the actual request. We ll enforce an ordering around the
domain names inside a path from most common to most precise. A domain has been much more

Comparing Marriage Proposals from Mr. Collins and Mr....
Comparing Marriage Proposals from Mr. Collins and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice
The story of Pride and Prejudice revolves around a mother of five daughters, Mrs. Bennet, whose sole
purpose is to marry off her daughters to suitable men. Jane is the eldest out of the Bennet sisters. Jane
is the closest to Elizabeth from the rest of her sisters, this is because they stand on similar maturity
levels, and
Elizabeth is the second oldest.
The main theme of the novel is based on the importance of marriage. It is important because a woman
will have to marry a suitable man who can support her when her father passes away, it is equally
important to men because it is important for them to keep their social status, they will do ... Show

I will begin by analysing the way in which Mr Collins proposes to
Elizabeth. This started because he was at an age where he was expected to get married soon, and he
wanted to marry one of Mr Bennet s daughters. He was at first interested in Jane, but as soon as he
found out she may be getting together with Mr Bingley he backed off and moved onto Elizabeth Mr.
Collins had only to change from Jane to
Elizabeth and it was soon done done while Mrs. Bennet was stirring the fire. Elizabeth, equally next to
Jane in birth and beauty, succeeded her of course . The main reasons why Mr Collins wants to marry is
because he thinks it will make him happy, but more importantly, Lady Catherine de Bourgh has told
him he must do so. Mr
Collins s character shows he is not actually very interested in finding a wife whom he loves and has
real feelings for, he just wants one so he can say he is married. This is why he is not the ideal husband
for Elizabeth, because she wants to marry for love. Later on, after he is rejected by Elizabeth, Mr
Collins marries Charlotte Lucas.
They marry because it is obvious they can satisfy each others needs because Collins needs a wife to
present to Lady Catherine and
Charlotte is in danger of becoming an old maid because she was getting older, and if she didn t get
married soon, she may not have married at all. Their contract of marriage was based on absolutely no

Racism In Freedom Writers
Racism is as relevant an issue today as it ever was. Old wounds have opened, and the dark side of
America is being brought to light. Freedom Writers, a 2007 movie adaptation of the 1999 book The
Freedom Writers Diary (Freedom Writers), illustrates just how large an issue racism is in society.
Freedom Writers was directed by Richard LaGravenese and stars Hilary Swank, Scott Glenn, Patrick
Dempsey, and Imelda Staunton (Freedom Writers). Set in Long Beach, California, a first time teacher
educates her at first unmotivated students in English while giving them life lessons and showing them
the larger world around them. Those students live in an area that is a battlefield, many of them
embroiled in the ongoing gang wars. Freedom Writers deals with racism by showing the students that
they are all very similar and deal with the same problems, regardless of their race. The movie opens
with footage of the 1994 Los Angeles riots, then transitions to the childhood of the narrator of the
film, a Mexican American girl named Eva. It shows how racism and gang violence has shaped her life,
with her father being arrested for a crime he didn t commit and being shot at and beat up among the
various examples. We then meet Erin Gruwell, an enthusiastic young teacher, whose class is
comprised of Eva and other at risk teens. Gruwell has difficulty getting through to her students, who
self segregate into racial groups within the classroom. Many students stop attending class when she

Surrogacy Controversy
With the increase in the abilities and forms of reproductive technologies over the past 30 years, the
ethics of using them still needs to be further understood. An example of a new form of reproductive
technology is surrogacy. The act of a woman conceiving and carrying an embryo or fetus for an
individual or a couple is defined as surrogacy (White, 2016). The ethics of this method of
reproduction with the nuances of potential payment options and the effects on the parties involved, has
to evolve with the updates in technology and knowledge. The controversy surrounding surrogacy is in
relation to the legality and ethics of paying a surrogate mother to carry and birth a child for an
individual or couple.
Commercial surrogacy should be legislated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin, the use of commercial transnational surrogacy increases the complications of the legislation
in Canada. As the world becomes more interconnected, the ability for Canadian citizens to find
commercial surrogates in other countries is an expanding option. Unfortunately, due to rapidly
changing legislation around surrogacy in many countries, parents and their child born from
international surrogates may have difficulty leaving the child s country of birth together (Lozanski,
2015). This uncertainty of the safety for the children of Canadians, combined with the potential for
extreme exploitation of international woman due to a lack of regulations, results in an unsafe
environment (Lozanski, 2015). In addition, due to the decreased costs of surrogacy in Canada, as a
result of commercialized surrogacy being illegal and Canada s public health insurance, the costs for
people internationally to use surrogates in Canada is reduced. This may cause shortages of surrogates
in Canada and cause Canadian taxpayers to pay for international people to come to Canada to have
their children. As Canada s public health insurance covers the cost of the surrogate s medical
expenses, taxpayers are paying for international citizens to have their children in Canada. By
introducing, some form of commercialized surrogacy in Canada this could reduce the strain on the

Example Of Existentialism
Existentialism is a movement in philosophy and literature that began in the mid to late 19th and reach
its peak in mid 20th century, and was largely spread through the works of French existentialist like
Jean Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Simone de Beauvoir (Mastin L, 2008). There is no agreed
definition of existentialism, as those who are considered as existentialist do not share the same exact
thought on the subject though the starting point may be fairly linked. Jean Paul Sartre, defines
existentialism as a school of thought where one s existence comes before his essence. Being an atheist
existentialist, he argues that there is no God and that man existed first and defines himself afterwards.
Thus there is no human nature, because there is no God to have a conception of it. Man simply is

Eliza Binte Elahi (2014), explains that metaphysics deals with questions that can t be answered by
Science, like the existence of God or the difference between reality and perception thus questioning
the pure existence of human beings on earth. TS Eliot is considered to be a fine example of a
metaphysical poet as he wrestles with noumenal experiences using extended metaphor, as the Things

his famous poem The Waste Land , was written when he was facing some hardships in his life; his
marriage was falling and he was suffering of nervous disorder. The physical and mental distress of the
poet may provide an indication about the state of mind in which The Waste Land was written, which
seems to have greatly influenced the choice of the title of the poem itself. The sub title The Burial of
the Dead is equally troubling providing an obscure and dark atmosphere about the poem. It seems like
the titles chosen act as a foretaste of what is to come

The Effect Of Visitor Interaction On Primate Species In Zoos
In the wild, interactions between humans and animals are often limited. In captivity, this dynamic is
altered as a result of humans being allowed to be in close proximity to the animals while they are on
display. Zoos, especially in Europe and North America, strive to educate the public about their animals
and the conservation efforts to help save them in the wild (Hosey, 2005). In order to ensure that
visitors leave the zoo feeling as if they can make a difference, visitors need to feel a connection with
the animals. A way in which this is done is to design exhibits that put the public closer to the animals.
By doing so, it is common that animals in captivity can be subject to interaction with the guests,

Different populations have been seen reacting negatively, while others have reacted positively or
neutrally. In Wells (2005) it was suggested that crowd size had a negative impact on the gorillas at the
Belfast Zoological Gardens in Northern Ireland. The gorillas had increased aggression during large
crowd sizes and appeared less stressful during low visitor periods. However, some populations of
gorillas did not show an increase in undesirable behavior in relation to larger crowd size. In Kuhar
(2008) there were no significant findings that suggested crowd size played any role in the behavior of
the gorillas. In a study conducted by Ross and Lukas (2006) it was found that during crowds of high
density or low density alike, there were no significant differences in gorilla behavior. Interestingly, in
Wells (2006) the researchers suggest that some auditory stimulation, such as that from visitors, can be
a form of enrichment for the gorillas rather than a source of stress. Similarly, in Stoinski et al., (2012)
there were no significant effects of crowd size for some of the behaviors they analyzed. Other
behaviors they observed did change in relation to crowd size such as contact aggression and
undesirable behavior but those behaviors changes were not seen as significant and it is suggested that
crowds may affect some individuals and not

The Assassination that Started It All
On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were shot dead in Sarajevo by
Gavrilo Princip, a member of a Serbian nationalist group called the Black Hand. The Black Hand was
derived from a secret Serbian terrorist organization called the Narodna Odbrana, which worked
towards the unification of all South Slavs in an independent, sovereign country called Yugoslavia. The
Narodna Odbrana was created because South Slavs living in Serbia, as well as in Bosnia and other
Slavic provinces, felt a strong nationalistic desire to unify all the members of their cultural group in a
new country called Yugoslavia. The Black Hand s commitment to Serbian nationalism led it to replace
the Narodna Odbrana, while adopting its purpose, organization, and terrorist philosophy. Members of
the Black Hand, driven by their desire to die as martyrs, assassinated Franz Ferdinand to quickly set
the tone for a revolution meant to weaken the powerful state of Austria Hungary and unite all South
Slavs in a Yugoslavic nation.
The ideology of martyrdom and self sacrifice guided the Black Hand s decision to assassinate Franz
Ferdinand. The first notable example of this ideology was the deed of Bogdan Zerajic, a man who
fired five shots at the governor of Bosnia and then committed suicide in Sarajevo. The Archduke s
assassins possessed a personal motive for the assassination a feeling of discontent with their own

Understanding The General Strain Theory On Crime
Understanding the General Strain Theory on Crime
Codie Bastress
University Wisconsin Oshkosh
Abstract This paper explores Robert Agnew s General Strain Theory by helping to explain what it is as
well as research that has been conducted to support it. A majority of the articles used in this paper help
try and explain or define what GST is as well as attempt to define its components. This paper will then
help better understand some of the research that has been done regarding GST. These studies will help
explain why certain types of strain lead to criminal acts as well as the effect of negative emotions
leading to crime. Another aspect introduces the matter of how people cope with certain strains by
committing crime and reasons behind it. The importance of strains leading to juvenile delinquency is
briefly explained. Next, some limitations on the theory are provided. These will include
recommendations for further studies on the GST along with explanations as to why policy applications
are difficult for this theory. Naturally, weaknesses of the theory will also be provided within the
limitations section. Finally, an application of the general strain theory will be provided for the film
Bernie.
Understanding the General Strain Theory An abundance of research has been conducted on how
Robert Agnew s strain theory can help better understand why crime is committed. However,
limitations to this to theory have come to the surface. Some suggest that

Social Class And Social Classes
Social classes play a vital role in dynamic of families. The definition of social class is ambiguous and
has no clearly outlined definition. However it is believed to be a combination of different aspects such
as one s life chances or resources, one s status group, or those who share similar lifestyles and one s
education level make up an individuals social class. Therefore, in an ideal set up there would 4 social
cases the upper, middle, working, and poor classes (Judge 2015) and these are the 4 that I will be
using to distinguish the difference in how parents raise their children across social classes. One main
influence that causes a polarization of social classes are parents economic resources and education
level, thus influencing the jobs parents have and the availability they may have to invest in their child
s life. However the key characteristics that influence the ways parent raise their children are how they
organize their child s daily life, the use of language around their children, and through social
interactions (Lareau 202). However the two main approaches across social class parents take in raising
their child are natural growth and concerted cultivation. Concerted cultivation approach to parenting is
when parents seek to actively enhance their children s talents, and opinions (Cherlin 2013). Parents are
generally college educated and have jobs that allow for financial stability within the family. Typically
this parenting style pertains to upper and

Rome Was Different From The Steppes
Rome was different from the steppes.
For one, there were more trees. Dense forests dotted the landscape back east but here in the west they
rolled on for miles and miles, making it harder for the large horde to travel on horseback. At least the
roads helped. Romans were meticulous about their roads, and their insistence about the width made it
easier for riders to ride two by two, as well as for the large carts to pass through unscathed. Roads to
the east were merely dirt paths carved over time, little more than dirt impressions winding through a
sea of grass.
Although grateful for them, Attila didn t need the roads. Despite the trees he could have navigated his
men through the thick forests, though it would have admittedly taken ... Show more content on

It was a damning piece of parchment. Her brother had been sending legions to the east to stop the
encroaching Huns. He would not have allowed his sister to write the letter and if he had been
entertaining the idea of an alliance, then he would have written it himself.
This was treason.
Yet the idea was intriguing. Attila had been married once before, but both his wife and child were dead
and buried alongside the trails in the steppes. With no legitimate heir to his dynasty, there had already
been quarrels amongst the host as to who should step in if, and more importantly when, the king died.
Some suggested one of his acknowledged sons from the trail women. Though not born of a proper
union, they were still his blood. Others said that he should pick from his most trusted generals. Attila
had made no decision either way, however. In fact the inferred idea that he would not sire any more
children offended him. He was a young man, not a lecher too old to rise to the occasion... He could
still father a true heir.
And who better than a princess from the west, beautiful and young, and considering the ring that Attila
had wrapped around his neck with a bit of leather, who was also eager to become his wife?
So the decision was made. Attila chose from the main host a few hundred men to accompany him to
Rome. It was dangerous riding into the heart of the empire but with a smaller group travelling with
him, it would be easier to avoid patrols and outposts.

Toyota s Total Quality Management Process
During the identification stage for process improvement in the previous assessment, we were able to
identify that Toyota s failure to adhere to its own principles The Toyota Way in regards to the Toyota
Production System (TPS), more directly principle 5, to build a culture for stopping production in order
to fix identified problems and getting quality right the first time. Furthermore, leading to Toyota s
biggest crisis sudden unintended acceleration in their top selling models causing a number of losses
across the board. It is clear that Toyota must follow the TPS, precisely the Total Quality Management
process (TQM), in order to properly address and resolve any issues associated with the safety and

to encourage accountability and ensure the sustainability of this process. Thereby, enabling Toyota to
re build its brand, re gain consumer trust and confidence in their products and reposition themselves as
the leading automotive manufacturer internationally. During this assessment we will create a current

Could Schizophrenia be the Answer to the
Mysterious Vampire Legend?
The vampire legend and many behaviors and experiences of schizophrenics seem to share many
common traits. The traits that are most recognizable are fears of being enclosed, periods of
semistarvation or complete starvation, which can be associated with periodic gorging, reversal of the
day night cycle, and a preoccupation with or dread of mirrors (Kayton 304). Though the term
schizophrenia or demence precoce was only introduced in 1852 (Boyle 43), behaviors of people
affected by this illness have been documented much earlier.
The concept of a dead person returning in his living physical form and feeding on the living is
considered a vampire. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here is where an important part of the legend draws reference. According to Kayton, the vampire
(young suicide) was known to either devour or steal the hearts of his victims. When the heart was
stolen, it was placed over a fire to create an intense unfulfilled love in the bosom of the person it was
taken from (307). In Dracula we sort of get that sense the three vampire women wanted this from
Jonathan. Because when the Count told them that they could not have him, one of them boldly told
him: You yourself never loved (55). Also, according to schizophrenic suicide history the family
members who were often attacked were mainly members who showed their guilt over the oral
deprivation onto the fantasized vampire (patient) with a feared oral attack (Kayton 311). That would
be the logic of why the victims of the vampire are usually family members or persons they love; as we
witness this with Lucy as she tried to kiss Arthur a two different occasions when she became a
vampire. This theory also suggests that the parent s role is very important and their actions with the
child of either showing affection or rejection when the child attempts to become close to them
(McMahon 212).
Besides the removal of the heart, unmistakably, the most important part of the legend is that the
vampire attacks his victims by sucking out their blood. There are claims that the attack of the vampire
shows consistency with some of the unconscious fantasies of schizophrenic

All Behavior Caused By External Stimuli Operant Conditioning
All behavior caused by external stimuli operant conditioning). All behavior can be explained without
the need to consider internal mental states or consciousness. John B. Watson, Ivan Pavlov, B.F.

learner is essentially passive, responding to environmental stimuli. The learner starts off as a clean

After the meat powder and bell were presented together several times, the bell was used alone. Pavlov
s dogs, as predicted, responded by salivating to the sound of the bell without the food. The bell began
as a neutral stimulus (i.e. the bell itself did not produce the dogs. However, by pairing the bell with the
stimulus that did produce the salivation response, the bell was able to acquire the ability to trigger the
salivation response. Pavlov therefore demonstrated how stimulus response are formed. He dedicated
much of the rest of his career further exploring this finding. In technical terms, the meat powder is
considered an unconditioned stimulus and the dog s salivation is the unconditioned response. The bell
is a neutral stimulus until the dog learns to associate the bell with food. Then the bell becomes a
conditioned stimulus which produces the conditioned response of salivation after repeated pairings
between the bell and food. John B. Watson further extended Pavlov s work and applied it to human
beings. Around 1921, Watson studied Albert, an 11 month old infant child. The goal of the study was
to condition Albert to become afraid of a white rat by pairing the white rat with a very loud noise.
Behavior modification is a technique concerning the change in the undesired behavior and enhancing

Framing Theory Paper
The attendance quiz question regarding losing and saving lives exhibits the framing theory. This case
scenario defines the framing theory because of the obvious variance in the language used to describe
the same outcome. The framing theory is that by emphasizing a situation or title using a certain
context of wording will activate a certain shelf to influence someone s decision or thought process.
Therefore, framing is integral to this topic of because choosing to emphasize words such as saving and
will die will influence how the respondents process this moral decision that will block them from
seeing they have the same outcome. This studies framing connects information to our heuristic
knowledge and highlights what we regard as important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, 200 people will be saved versus 400 people will die is merely reframed it to sound more
appealing on a certain side. Therefore, this moral question about gaining or losing is focusing us to
think about our decision in the event of a catastrophic incident in which we need to weight the risk
with a negative effect of those dying and the rewards of those living. As the respondent reads the
question in the survey, our mind s natural shelf unconsciously highlights the positive parts while
interpreting the information. Most people as the study concludes, around ⅔ who took the survey
would rather see saving and triggered the conservative side with choosing the least risk option. The
strategy and outcome of framing the situation like this is to influence how we think about trade offs
and our own value system. In comparison, ⅓ chose the most negative cognitive outcome form the
surface letting 400 die. The question frames the situation for the respondents most likely choose the
most logical human condition option to save, and to frames a negative feeling about letting people die.
Although, the framed question leaves out that in both situations the same amount of people live and
die this situation illustrates how farming helps citizens make connections between their everyday

Why did farmers express discontent during 1870 1900 and what impact did their attitudes and actions
have on national politics. Manufacturing hit a huge growth rate during this period which cause
agriculture to decline, and cause farmers to struggle to make a living. The farmers were now being
abused by the railroad companies and banks. The documents in DBQ 8 show rationality for the farmer

The Nazi Regime Depended More on Broad Popularity Than...
The Nazi regime depended more on broad popularity than terror in the years 1933 39. Throughout the
years 1933 1939, the Nazis consolidated and strengthened their power over the German people in a
number of ways. The debate as to whether they depended on their broad popularity or on terror has
been argued by historians ever since. The view given by Gellately in Source 4 strongly agrees with
that in the question, whereas Evans, in Source 5 combines the terror and popularity aspects of the

the regime. This was added to by the reduction in unemployment throughout the period which made
many people think that the dictatorship would, in the long term have a positive impact on the country
and the position of Germany on an international scale. A further argument within this controversy is
that the regime relied on the selective nature of terror in the regime between 1933 1939. Johnson in
Source 6 says that Nazi terror lies in its selective nature . Though it is undoubtedly true that Nazi
terror had a selective nature, Johnson goes on to say that the regime dismissed expressions of non
conformity and mild disobedience on the part of other citizens . He is therefore implying that the
Nazis viewed active opposition as a threat but didn t see non conformity as an act of opposition.
However, this can be argued as members of the Swing Youth were punished and Himmler and

Colonialism And Imperialism
The country s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until about
AD 800. (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city of
Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet for
the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after
Christopher Columbus landed on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish
King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and Cristóbal de Olid explored the country
and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to affect the
native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the nationalistic and racist
ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native peoples ways. An example of
this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the Spanish settlers. This battle was
fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further expansion of the Spanish ways and
exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards and their colonization set the scene for
a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were to come. Fast forward to 1821, when
Central America gained their independence from Spain. When they were granted independence Spain
was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in 1813. (history.com) Since Spain was
taken over and controlled by another country and one that had turned on them after being an ally they
were not too concerned with their colonies overseas due to the Napoleonic Wars. The colonies didn t
benefit France and their battles in Europe so they were granted their independence without a fight. The
brush off of these potentially new countries, did not set them up for a successful future. It left them
without much guidance and caused power struggles throughout the area, all due to the cut off of the
previous imperialistic ways. With no larger country to help them with their creation of a new country,
Honduras went through a couple more name changes and political power discrepancies.
Just after these Central American countries were granted independence, what is

TRIAL ESSAY Conflicts that arise from particular ways of seeing the world are made evident through
the shaping of texts. In Barry Levinson s film Wag the Dog and Michael Moore s documentary

particular conflicts. In both texts, the conflicting perspectives arise from the way the naïve public
views the world and the way that the government and media view the world through their particular

way in which particular political powers and the media intervene. In the film it is clear that the

though the audience is aware of his significance and power throughout the entire film, the fact that he

because I like animals and I want to stop animal extinction. I have been reading and learning about
animals for my whole life . when I figured out that animal extinction meant animals are going to not

What causes animal extinction? Well, what causes animal extinction is deforestation, greenhouse
gases, forest fires, and pollution. By burning fossil fuels, we are making hotter temperatures, melting

Colonial American Hardships
Colonial Americans faced many hardships as they came to the new land and established the new
country. These hardships were explained and told in the writings of John smith, Phillis Wheatley, and
Anne Bradstreet. As these writers were primary sources, meaning they experienced the suffering and
privation first hand, you can have a better understanding of what it was like for them, or the people
during that era. These colonists had suffered a great amount. Either these colonists did not know how
to hunt for game, they did not know how to farm correctly, they were slaves, or had troubles with
many other things. Which had led to many of these colonists having to suffer in many different ways,
such as from the lack of proper nutrition, being diseased, or from the vicious beatings of their owners.
Many colonist s lost their lives, starved, and did not know how to live when they found or were
coming to the new land. There were many different types of hardships that the people of that era
endured. Each writer had their own rough experience they spoke about in their writings.
One of the writers who wrote about the hardships they had experienced was John Smith. Captain John
Smith was a soldier and the governor of Jamestown. In Smith s writings, he speaks mostly about the
colonization coming to the new land. He and his men believed they were going to build a successful
colony. But due to disease, famine, and the occasional attacks from the neighboring Powhatan Indians,

Who Is Billy Budd A Hero
In his work Billy Budd, Sailor, Herman Melville portrays the protagonist, Billy Budd, as an excellent
sailor and diligent worker who is emotionally underdeveloped. Billy is written as being naive and
good natured, and fails to see the evil that lurks within people. Billy s personal attributes, his
impressment by the British Navy, as well as the wrongful wishes of other men upon his his ship are all
attributes to the Handsome Sailor s downfall. After reading this novella, I have concluded that Billy
Budd is a victim of many wrongful deeds done by man and by man s wars, but Billy is a victim of his
own naivety as well.
In the first paragraph of the novella, the narrator describes Billy Budd as being the Handsome Sailor
of his merchant ship, the Rights of Man. He was well liked by his crewmates and also well respected
due to previous confrontations, such as his brief fight with Red Whiskers. Captain Graveling, when

  • 2. Marketing Strategy Of Nokia Background Nokia was the world s largest mobile phone maker for 14 years. The company was once acclaimed for its marketing strategy success for changing mobile phones from just a communication device to everyday fashion accessories. However, in today s global smartphone market, Nokia has only 3% of the market share and is declining. The company s decreasing sales was an obvious sign of vulnerability leading to the selloff of its mobile device business to Microsoft in 2013 (Surowiecki, 2013). Marketing Concept The marketing concept is the philosophy that companies analyze consumers needs and then develop products or services to satisfy them ( Marketing Principle , 2012, p. 11). For Nokia, before Microsoft acquiring its business unit, mobile phone was its number one offerings. The company was able to create and define the market from its superior smartphone designs and early adoption of technologies such as operating systems, Global System for Mobile communication (GSM), and built in camera (Khedekar, 2012). Marketing Strategy Shortcomings One of the most significant factors of Nokia s decreasing footprint is its failed marketing strategy. The shortcomings of Nokia s marketing strategy include the lack of early recognition of its opportunities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The areas that could have changed the history of Nokia are opportunities and threats. On opportunity side, Nokia did well in recognizing growth opportunity in Europe market. For threat, Apple and Samsung were clearly the biggest threats from competition standpoint. Nokia had technology to fend them off, but due to internal pressure and bureaucracy, the company was unsuccessful in maintaining its market ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Critical Analysis Of Faces Of Japan Bias and preposterous assumptions about a foreign society are a detriment to the image of that society. Creating a burden to the future comprehension of said society. Doctor David C. Unger, former foreign affairs editorial writer for the New York Times, has stated and debunked said stereotypes in his editorial titled Faces of Japan. In it, Unger argues that Japanese stereotypes are utterly incorrect and the presumptions surrounding Japanese culture are outdated. Japan s culture is not static, Japanese people are not spending every living moment in remorse after the events of WWII. Unger argues this point through the explicit comparison of Japan in 1992 to Japan in 1945. The goal that Unger is trying to achieve is to compel the audience to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its young people are highly educated, fashion conscious and remarkably well traveled. Unger has depicted a visual of Japan s youth in the minds of the audience. The audience is focused on the idea that Japanese people live just like any other society and establishes that there are now more similarities between the reader and Japanese people. Imagery is an irresistible form of rhetoric to the audience, it also helps the audience sympathize with Japanese people through shared experiences: travel, education, fashion, etc... This imagery is effective on the audience, it paints a picture in the reader s mind and is appealing to a feeling of commonality. In the minds of some Americans, Japan is a; ...crude caricature, drawn from half digested sound bites and painted in racist hues. Unger is describing the biased, and incorrect, ideas that surround Japan. The Japanese are portrayed as faceless and conformist, their real feelings impenetrable to non Japanese. This supposedly monolithic society is explained in terms of Japan s militarist traditions, its consensus style of politics and a shared national anxiety over scarce resources. These are said to produce people committed to work unceasingly so that Japan can dominate the world economically, and perhaps militarily too. ... There are Japanese who think like that, but fewer than there used to be. Meanwhile a newer, youth oriented leisure culture is emerging everywhere, from the nightclubs of Tokyo s Ginza and ... • 4. Comparison Of Terry Fox And Maurice Richard Terry Fox and Maurice Richard Canada s history is rich with leaders willing to bring change. Terry Fox and Maurice Richard are two different notable Canadians who both had similar historical significance and leadership abilities. This essay will be addressing their historical significance through the quantity of lives they affected across the country and the durability of the impacts still evident today, and their leadership ability of displaying determination by showing resilience in the face of adversity. Terry Fox affected the lives of many across the country. For instance, Terry Fox helped cancer patients by increasing their chances of survival with the money he raised from the Marathon of Hope (terryfox.org). Terry also gave cancer patients courage, and inspired hope to see that cancer does not kill their spirit (rw.runnersworld.com). Furthermore, Terry is an inspiration to cancer researchers, scientists, clinicians, and countless students across the country. Cancer researcher Dr. Ling, who wears a Terry Fox T shirt as his pajamas as a reminder of who he is and what he s done, told VICE Sports. That is the impact that he had on myself (sports.vice.com). Evidently, Terry affected virtually every Canadian s life. Almost one in every two Canadians is expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and one in four Canadians will die from the disease (cbc.ca). This means that nearly every Canadian will be diagnosed with cancer or know someone with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of James Overcoming The World James Chapter 1: 13 18 (State this twice) Overcoming the World (State this twice) There are times in our lives when our own lust leads to spiritual death. When such occurs, conceived lust is sin which results in death, but God allows us to choose life. The book of James was written by Jesus s Half brother James also known as the holy brother (Matthew 13:55). He is also the brother of Jude. It was written about AD 50. and known as the letters or the epistles. What picked my interest is James did not believe in Jesus mission on earth. He later became an Apostle through Paul and was prominent in the church (Acts 15:13 22). James was writing to the Christian Jews at that time who were being persecuted which took place in Palestine. He encouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Romans 12: verses 1 2 states: I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. A mind that is not renewed in God s word eventually becomes reprobate. Reprobate means unable to make a Godly judgment. This causes you to reject God and the worldly things begin to make sense to you. (Romans 12: 1 2; Romans 1:28; Psalm 81:11 12). If there is no hunger for the word of God in our lives, this leaves the door open for evil, sin, and lust to come in our heart. In Jeremiah 17: 9 it states the heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; who can know it? When we hear the word of God we must be doers of the word. • 6. The Theme Of Dreams In The Crossover In The Crossover written by Kwame Alexander, there are many themes that readers can find in the novel. One of the themes is that dream is very important for one to live a better life. This is also the theme in the poem Dreams written by Langston Hughes. Having one s own dream is very important because the process of achieving the dream is more of value than the result itself. Dreams can enrich people s lives and lighten their inside world. In The Crossover, Josh Bell is fond of playing basketball and his dream is to go to the University of Duke. In order to reach his goal, he practices so hard in school and home. I let him win and get ready to practice harder, (Alexander 57). The coach says one who runs the fastest does not need to practice. Josh Bell is the quickest on the team; however, he deliberately lets Vondie win. This is because he wants to practice more and become stronger than anyone else on the team. It is an example of how Josh tries to make his dream come true. In the process of realizing his dreams, Josh not only improves his basketball skills, but he also fulfills his life by making friends with his teammates. In the poem Dreams, the writer says that Hold fast to dreams/ For when dreams go/ Life is a barren field/ Frozen with snow, (Hughes 5 8). These lines show that dream is what brings people joy of life. If one does not have his own dream to realize, one will not feel any passion in life. Introduction An essential component of access control has been secure and safe domain which is composed of a collection of end users as well as objects handled with a typical security plan and based on an individual authority. Together with the rising of shared sources, unauthorized accessibility to data by unlawful users additionally heightens, it has been essential to secure information via user validation and access control procedures (Yang, 2007). Domain Name Service (DNS) The explanation of domains usually presumes that there has been a system that allows a domain host to intercept communications. This type of system might permit domains to always be added as well as removed devoid of influencing the whole process of servers interior or exterior the domain. Preferably, this could be achieved by supplying a safe system for the domain host to identify, within the IP routing stage, that network visitors headed for a specific server should be directed via the domain. Sadly, no such system presently is available. This paper provides some alternate systems as well as their weak points (Condell, 1996). Freedom Writers, a 2007 movie adaptation of the 1999 book The Freedom Writers Diary (Freedom Writers), illustrates just how large an issue racism is in society. Freedom Writers was directed by Richard LaGravenese and stars Hilary Swank, Scott Glenn, Patrick Dempsey, and Imelda Staunton (Freedom Writers). Set in Long Beach, California, a first time teacher educates her at first unmotivated students in English while giving them life lessons and showing them the larger world around them. Freedom Writers deals with racism by showing the students that they are all very similar and deal with the same problems, regardless of their race. The movie opens with footage of the 1994 Los Angeles riots, then transitions to the childhood of the narrator of the film, a Mexican American girl named Eva. It shows how racism and gang violence has shaped her life, with her father being arrested for a crime he didn t commit and being shot at and beat up among the various examples. To begin, the use of commercial transnational surrogacy increases the complications of the legislation in Canada. As the world becomes more interconnected, the ability for Canadian citizens to find commercial surrogates in other countries is an expanding option. Unfortunately, due to rapidly changing legislation around surrogacy in many countries, parents and their child born from international surrogates may have difficulty leaving the child s country of birth together (Lozanski, 2015). This uncertainty of the safety for the children of Canadians, combined with the potential for extreme exploitation of international woman due to a lack of regulations, results in an unsafe environment (Lozanski, 2015). In addition, due to the decreased costs of surrogacy in Canada, as a result of commercialized surrogacy being illegal and Canada s public health insurance, the costs for people internationally to use surrogates in Canada is reduced. The Assassination that Started It All On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were shot dead in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip, a member of a Serbian nationalist group called the Black Hand. The Black Hand was derived from a secret Serbian terrorist organization called the Narodna Odbrana, which worked towards the unification of all South Slavs in an independent, sovereign country called Yugoslavia. The Narodna Odbrana was created because South Slavs living in Serbia, as well as in Bosnia and other Slavic provinces, felt a strong nationalistic desire to unify all the members of their cultural group in a new country called Yugoslavia. The first notable example of this ideology was the deed of Bogdan Zerajic, a man who fired five shots at the governor of Bosnia and then committed suicide in Sarajevo. When the heart was stolen, it was placed over a fire to create an intense unfulfilled love in the bosom of the person it was taken from (307). In Dracula we sort of get that sense the three vampire women wanted this from Jonathan. Because when the Count told them that they could not have him, one of them boldly told him: You yourself never loved (55). Also, according to schizophrenic suicide history the family members who were often attacked were mainly members who showed their guilt over the oral deprivation onto the fantasized vampire (patient) with a feared oral attack (Kayton 311). That would be the logic of why the victims of the vampire are usually family members or persons they love; as we witness this with Lucy as she tried to kiss Arthur a two different occasions when she became a vampire. This theory also suggests that the parent s role is very important and their actions with the child of either showing affection or rejection when the child attempts to become close to them (McMahon 212). After the meat powder and bell were presented together several times, the bell was used alone. Pavlov s dogs, as predicted, responded by salivating to the sound of the bell without the food. The bell began as a neutral stimulus (i.e. the bell itself did not produce the dogs. However, by pairing the bell with the stimulus that did produce the salivation response, the bell was able to acquire the ability to trigger the salivation response. Pavlov therefore demonstrated how stimulus response are formed. He dedicated much of the rest of his career further exploring this finding. In technical terms, the meat powder is considered an unconditioned stimulus and the dog s salivation is the unconditioned response. The bell is a neutral stimulus until the dog learns to associate the bell with food. Then the bell becomes a conditioned stimulus which produces the conditioned response of salivation after repeated pairings between the bell and food. John B. Watson further extended Pavlov s work and applied it to human beings. Around 1921, Watson studied Albert, an 11 month old infant child. The goal of the study was to condition Albert to become afraid of a white rat by pairing the white rat with a very loud noise. As the respondent reads the question in the survey, our mind s natural shelf unconsciously highlights the positive parts while interpreting the information. Because of the severe environmental circumstances of the Great Plain region, the Homestead Act turned out to be less effective than anticipated. Throughout the years 1933 1939, the Nazis consolidated and strengthened their power over the German people in a number of ways. The debate as to whether they depended on their broad popularity or on terror has been argued by historians ever since. The view given by Gellately in Source 4 strongly agrees with that in the question, whereas Evans, in Source 5 combines the terror and popularity aspects of the regime and says that the German people perceived terror as being popular. This was added to by the reduction in unemployment throughout the period which made many people think that the dictatorship would, in the long term have a positive impact on the country and the position of Germany on an international scale. A further argument within this controversy is that the regime relied on the selective nature of terror in the regime between 1933 1939. Johnson in Source 6 says that Nazi terror lies in its selective nature . Though it is undoubtedly true that Nazi terror had a selective nature, Johnson goes on to say that the regime dismissed expressions of non conformity and mild disobedience on the part of other citizens . He is therefore implying that the Nazis viewed active opposition as a threat but didn t see non conformity as an act of opposition. However, this can be argued as members of the Swing Youth were punished and Himmler and Heinrich actually wanted to put the ringleaders into concentration camps. • 31. Colonialism And Imperialism The country s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until about AD 800. (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city of Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet for the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after Christopher Columbus landed on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and Cristóbal de Olid explored the country and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to affect the native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the nationalistic and racist ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native peoples ways. An example of this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the Spanish settlers. This battle was fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further expansion of the Spanish ways and exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards and their colonization set the scene for a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were to come. Fast forward to 1821, when Central America gained their independence from Spain. When they were granted independence Spain was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in 1813. (history.com) Since Spain was taken over and controlled by another country and one that had turned on them after being an ally they were not too concerned with their colonies overseas due to the Napoleonic Wars. The colonies didn t benefit France and their battles in Europe so they were granted their independence without a fight. The brush off of these potentially new countries, did not set them up for a successful future. It left them without much guidance and caused power struggles throughout the area, all due to the cut off of the previous imperialistic ways. In Barry Levinson s film Wag the Dog and Michael Moore s documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 , it is clear that the perspectives in which the audience views the world create particular conflicts. In both texts, the conflicting perspectives arise from the way the naïve public views the world and the way that the government and media view the world through their particular agendas. As Brean satirises the perspective of the outsider s the view in which the American people see the world is seen, especially through the use of the Albanian girl where the audience literally sees what the audience in the film sees and believes.
