Bonnie And Clyde Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Bonnie and Clyde" presents its own set of challenges, as it
requires a delicate balance between historical accuracy, cinematic interpretation, and the
exploration of the complex personalities of the infamous criminal duo. The difficulty lies in
capturing the essence of their tumultuous lives, understanding the socio-economic backdrop of
the Great Depression, and dissecting the cultural impact of the Bonnie and Clyde narrative.
Research is a crucial aspect, demanding a deep dive into historical records, biographies, and
academic analyses to uncover the layers of truth and myth surrounding Bonnie Parker and Clyde
Barrow. Extracting credible information from various sources and discerning fact from
embellishment can be a meticulous process. Moreover, navigating through the different cinematic
portrayals of Bonnie and Clyde adds an extra layer of complexity, requiring a critical
examination of how filmmakers have shaped public perception over the years.
Crafting a compelling thesis that goes beyond a mere retelling of their criminal escapades is
another hurdle. The essay must delve into the psychological dimensions of Bonnie and Clyde,
exploring the motivations behind their actions and the societal conditions that contributed to
their criminal path. This necessitates a nuanced understanding of criminology, psychology, and
sociology, adding to the intricacy of the writing process.
Moreover, maintaining a coherent narrative that seamlessly weaves together historical facts,
cinematic interpretations, and academic analysis requires a high level of organization and clarity
of thought. Balancing these elements while adhering to academic standards and maintaining an
engaging writing style can be a daunting task.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Bonnie and Clyde" demands a thorough and
multidimensional approach, involving historical research, critical analysis of cinematic
representations, and a deep understanding of the socio-cultural context. Navigating through
these complexities requires dedication, research skills, and the ability to synthesize diverse
sources into a cohesive narrative.

Black Friday The Metaphorical God Of Consumerism
Black Friday, the metaphorical god of consumerism. The time of year when
practically all things purchasable in stores are dramatically reduced in price. Some
people, such as journalist Mark Walsh, hate this day of the year, equating it to a
black hole that sucked everything into its terrifying abyss, where all substance is torn
to shreds and obliterated . And while there may be some merit to this stance, Black
Fridayis not an evil day. Black Friday provides many good things and does not
exclusively exsist for excessive material gain. While drastically reduced prices act as
a very effective lure to people looking to get something good for less expense, it also
provides an opportunity for families or individuals who are poorer than most
Essay On 19th Century American Entertainment
During the 19th century, American had long working hours and have awful working
condition because of the American Industrialization. In order to relieve their stress,
entertainments were necessary. There were many forms of entertainment that were
performed throughout America s history. Two of the popular entertainment at that
time were minstrel show and freak show. Minstrel show was also known as the
blackface, which was a theatrical show that was mainly performed by white people
with blackface makeup on. Another popular entertainment was the freak show. It was
an exhibition of human with unusual body part. Some of them looked different
because they were from cultures, while some of them had genetic mutation or
diseases.
The minstrel show was a musical stage show performed by mostly whites. The
performers blackened their faces and perform music, comic skit and dancing. Jim
Crow was one of the popular character which represent a stereotype career slave. He
was originated from a popular song called jump jim crow. Another character was
Zip Coon, who represent the free blacks. The black face shows used these characters
to make fun of blacks and provoke laughter. Since the show was rather racist, it
became unpopular near 1950s as African Americangained power in political.

Both of the two popular entertainments, blackface and freak show, targeted their

Sara Baartman was degraded and her large breast and buttlock were used to entertain

black women devalued themselves and only value their buttlock and
George Etienne Cartier s Legacy And Contributions
For my heritage fair I decided to research George Etienne Cartier, who if you haven
t heard about was a lawyer, rebel, politician and railway promoter whose
contributions to Confederation were on the same level as figures like John A.
Macdonald and George Brown(Sweeny). If you haven t heard of any of these
people, then don t worry I ll be going into length on all of them. Furthermore, if you
were wondering why I chose this topic to research, I would truthfully tell you that
the only reason I chose George Etienne Cartier was because he was as good a topic
as anything else, so personally I didn t care about the topic. But as I put more
research into the topic I came to realize just how important George Etienne Cartier
was to Canada. Not just in his efforts towards Confederation but also the work he
put into preserving French culture and identity in Canada to railway development.
Of course this isn t as exciting as many other topics, but without George Cartier s
legacy and contributions we would most likely not be where we are today. In this
report I will be covering the life of George Etienne Cartier, including his early life,
background, political life before and after Confederation.
Early Life and Rebellions
How did George Etienne Cartier grow up?
George Etienne Cartier was born on September 6th 1814 in Saint Antoine sur
Richelieu to parents Jacques Cartier (not the explorer) and Marguerite Paradis.

Italian Artaud Research Paper
Born in Marseille, France, on September 4, 1896, Antonin Artaud worked as an
actor onstage and in film with works like La Passion de Jeanne d Arc. He was
involved in the surrealist movement as a writer and came up with the idea known as
The Theater of Cruelty, which argued that drama must abandon its emphasis on text
and rely on more mysterious, primal expressions of sound, movement and light.
Considered among the most influential figures in the evolution of modern drama
theory, Antonin Artaud associated himself with Surrealist writers, artists, and
experimental theater groups in Paris during the 1920s. Antoine Marie Joseph
Artaud was born to Euphrasie Nalpas and Antoine Roi Artaud in Marseille, France.
At the age of four, he suffered from meningitis, which ultimately gave him an edgy,
short tempered personality throughout his adolescence. He also suffered from
stammering problems and clinical depression. In 1916, he was drafted into the
French Army and was allegedly discharged due to sleepwalking. After he was
discharged, he was admitted to a sanatorium for a while. During this time, he read
the works of Arthur Rimbaud and Edgar Allan Poe. In 1920, after being discharged
from the sanatorium, he moved to Paris, to pursue a career as a writer. It was there
that he realized his passion for experimental theatre. In 1921, he contributed articles

The air remaining in the lungs after a complete exhalation is called the residual
volume, normally about 1200 milliliters. Therefore, the total lung capacity (the
vital capacity volume plus the residual volume) is approximately 6000 milliliters.
All of these volumes (except residual volume) can be easily measured using a
spirometer. Basically, a spirometer is composed of an inverted bell in a water tank.
A breathing tube is connected to the bell s interior. On the exterior of the inverted
bell is attached a pen device that records respiratory volumes on paper. When one
exhales into the breathing tube, the bell goes up and down with exhalation.
Everything is calibrated so that respiratory volumes can be read directly from the
paper record. The paper moves at a pre set speed past the recording pen so that
volumes per unit time can be easily calculated. In addition to measuring the
respiratory volumes introduced so far, the spirometer can also be used to perform
pulmonary function tests. One such test is the forced vital capacity (FVC), or the
amount of air that can be expelled completely and as rapidly as possible after
taking in the deepest possible breath. Another test is the forced expiratory volume
(FEV1), which is the percentage of vital capacity that is exhaled during a 1 sec
period of the FVC test. This value is generally 75% to 85% of the vital capacity. In
the following experiments you will be simulating spirometry and

First, I completed a thorough review of the company s current business practices and
conducted several focus groups with employees to discuss their top five ideas and
suggestions for improving their productivity, commitment to the company and overall
job satisfaction. The results of these activities produced several areas of focus

Several responses indicated that they felt ill prepared to provide a high level of
productivity. Particularly when they first joined the company. Still others indicated
they felt that they had limited opportunities for career advancement. As a result of
this employees become frustrated and either leave the company or if they stay
become increasingly frustrated, which can result in lost productivity and poor
performance. Which will eventually lead to less than stellar product development and
ultimately a loss in revenue.
By implementing a training program for new staff, can start their jobs with some
idea of what they re supposed to do and how to do it (Section 7. Developing Training
Programs for Staff, n.d.) Additionally, it can show new employees the company is
serious about what it does, and therefore encourage them to be serious about it, too. A
solid training program can also significantly reduce mistakes that cost the
organization loss of revenue, production times, and the reputation of their products
(Section 7. Developing Training Programs for Staff, n.d.)
For existing employees a training program also has numerous benefits: It will help
them to continually improve their knowledge, skill sets and keep them fully engaged
in their work.
For all of the reasons I ve detailed I believe the implementation of these ideas will
result is improving employee morale, productivity, loyalty

beaker. Once clean, use the funnel to carefully pour the 100ml 1.0M NaOH
solution into the top of the burette (making sure the stopcock is closed and there
are no air bubbles) filling as accurately to 0.00 as possible. If not starting on 0.00
then record actual level as your starting point. Now place the conical flask
containing the 25ml of acetic acid under the burette and slowly open the stopcock
allowing for a steady controlled flow of NaOH into the acetic acid. Ensure you
swirl the flask containing the acetic acid as the NaOH is added. As you approach
the equivalence point slow down the flow of NaOH to drop by drop. The
equivalence point is the point at which the

These pieces were then nail together and a template was used to create the curved
lines for the timber tray and it showed how the pacific maple would end up like.
The two piece of woods were then trimmed with a jigsaw and further trimmed with
the band saw. The pacific maples were then sanded to remove the marks created
from the band saw. After that, two shorter pieces were chosen and the same steps
were applied. The two pieces were nailed and using a template the handles of the
timber tray were drawn. The drill press was then used to drill holes into the two
pieces and then the handles were made from using a jigsaw. The jigsaw sawed off
the wood in marked area from the template. The pair of handles were sanded to
take of any sharp edges and to make the handle smooth. Both pairs of wood were
taken apart so there would be four pieces of wood, two long and two short. Then
the finger joint were made using the finger jointing machine (trimmer router) were
when cutting the joint for the shorter pieces, the end of the longer piece was put up
against the shorter piece and then that was drilled to create the finger joints. Once
this process was done, the four pieces were joined up to create the timber frame.
This frame was then glued together using PVA glue. A plywood base was then
picked and the frame was marked on the plywood using a pencil. The base and the
frame were put together with a thin layer of PVA glue and then reinforced with
twelve millimeter nails. The base had four nails along the length and three nails on
the width. Nails weren t nailed in the corners because it could nail into the joint,
which would separate the joint and create a gap in the joint. Once the glue had dried
the timber tray was put on the linisher and the timber tray was sanded to remove bits
created by the linisher. After that, linseed oil was applied to the timber tray. Once the
oiling process was
Machiavelli The Prince Chapter 6 Summary
D.I.Y. Empire
In The Prince, Machiavelli discusses ways in which a ruler should obtain power and
maintain power, emphasizing the concept of gaining power through virtue versus
fortune. Virtue, or virtu in the original Italian, is defined as the masculine quality of
power, and not necessarily tied to ideas of morality as it is in the English definition.
Gaining power through virtue is the process of gaining power through one s own
ability, while gaining power through fortune is the process of gaining power through
means not related to one s own ability such as wealth or another s grace. In Chapter
6 of The Prince, Machiavelli discusses principalities gained through virtue and their
characteristics.

His enemies are those of the older order, who did well under it and are reluctant to
change to a new order. His allies are those who would do well under the new order
but are, as Machiavelli puts it, lukewarm and, therefore, aren t entirely dedicated.
This is in part due to their fear of the new prince s enemies, those who do not want a
new order, and in part due to their skepticism in the ability of the prince to impose
this new order.
As such, it is very dangerous to impose a new order where one may face attack by
hostile forces and have only lukewarm defenders of the new order. It is then
necessary to examine how the prince will utilize his virtue. If he is to beg and ask
others for help, he is then seen as week and cannot accomplish his goal. The
alternative is to use force , to arm themselves, and to literally force those who do not
believe in the new order to believe. After all, human nature is changeable and easily
changed, but difficult to maintain in a certain persuasion, after which force is
necessary to maintain it. And once created through great difficulty, it is then easy to
maintain, as under the prince s rule, the need for force will lessen, since those who
would rebel are eliminated and the ruler gains reputation and respect from his
subjects.
The examples of such principalities and rulers Machiavellie provides are of Moses,
Cyrus, Romulus and Theseus. In the first example of Moses, Machiavelli admits that
the lines are a bit

My Family Sociology Analysis
My paper talks about the five general sociology concepts that I learned to using my

group that would be more beneficial and knowledgeable to discuss regarding the
concepts. My family consist of a father, mother, two boys, and a girl, not including
me. My parents speak three languages and my siblings only speak one due to the
language influence while they were in school. Culture is very important to my family
not only the language, and attire but the values of what the culture teaches. Such as,

You are not necessarily conforming into something negative nor positive.
Assimilation means as minorities you adopt patterns of a dominant culture
(Maconois, 2015, pp 351). Assimilation isn t necessary a bad thing depending on
what perspective you look at. In my family as my parents moved from Tanzania to
the states they had to adapt to different things such as the driving, where in Africa
we drive in the left side. The dress had to change for not only church but daily dress
had to be modified. For church, usually the ladies would wear traditional attire
which was a skirt or dress with a head wrap/hat and the men would wear the same
thing. As seasons passed on while they were in the states they learned that it could
get colder than when it rains, like snow and how you can no longer wear skirts or
dress. Summary I think that this made me realize how things play an important
role in our everyday life. After completing the social group analysis project, I was
more aware of the importance of social groups and their role in society. My social
group helped influence who I am today by navigating different challenged each day
with a word of advice and encouragement. There is different concept that I have
learned that really reflect my social group. Each of these concepts are being used
every day, and without them society wouldn t function the way it does today. What

Oats In Canada
This article discusses the price movement of oats in Canada due to a shortage in
supply. Two major concepts present in the article is the law of supply and law of
demand. The law of supply states that there s a positive relationship between the
price and quantity supplied of a good ceteris paribus; as price increases, quantity
supplied increases. The law of demand, states that there s a negative relationship
between the price and quantity demanded of a good ceteris paribus; as price
increases, quantity demanded decreases. Both laws involve ceteris paribus; all
variables besides the ones being studied are constant. The main reason for the rising
price of oats is due to non price determinants of supply; any variables other than price
that causes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The change in supply results from a nonprice determinant; the rain and snow.
Because of this, the oat harvest has been delayed and farmers are unable to harvest
as much as they were capable of in previous years. Because oats are a primary
commodity; a product produced in the primary sector, they have a fairly inelastic
demand because they are a necessity without many substitutes. The change in
prices will cause a drop in profits for farmers and producers. The poor weather
conditions also affects the quality of the oats as a result, more oats end up as food
for the livestock instead of being sent to producers who manufacture oat products.
The supply curve shifts leftwards and leads to an increase in price from P1 to P2 and
a decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2.
Figure B: Supply and Demand for Producers of Oat Products Figure B shows a
leftward shift in the supply curve from S1 to S2 for producers who require oats for
production. Due to the non price determinant that caused farmers to acquire less
supply, this in turn results in a smaller supply for the producers. Furthermore, a
smaller supply means the prices of oats will rise and the producers will require
more money for production. This results in an increase in price from P1 to P2 and a
decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2.

Literacy Is The Most Important Quality Essay
Literacy is important. If you re not literate, how will you ever be able to function in
society? As someone who is literate, and barely functions himself, this is important.
There is quite a lot to think about here. For example, How does one become literate?
or, Is literacy even important? or, How does literacyopen and close doors? Yes that s
right, I said close. If one is literate they can do anything, or nothing. One can
masterfully piece words together in such a way that they anger people, sadden
people, and more. Literacy is the most important quality a person can have, while
also being the least important quality a person can have. Yes, those statements
were intentionally contradictory, and no, they weren t clever time wasters. Those
statements are to show that literacy is hard to talk about. So let s try to have a nice
little examination of literacy. When talking about literacy one must, consequently,
start at the bottom and work up. It just makes the whole discussion easier. How
does one even become literate? Every single person on the planet will give a
different answer. There s not some how to book for becoming literate, or some pill
you take. You do things that involve other people s works of literature and build
your own semblance of literacy off of theirs until finally, your literacy has enough
gumption to stand up on the metaphorical literature pedestal with Dickens and
Tolstoy. Of course, I haven t quite made it that far yet. So here is my story up to
The Roots Of The American Revolution
The roots of the attitude of Americans today may be traced all the way back to when
the people living in this land first truly became Americans; that is, amidst the
American Revolution. It was during that time when the colonists residing in the
thirteen British established colonies came to the startling decision to break away
from their mother country Great Britain, whose gracious nurture and aid for the
colonists became stifling tyranny and injustice that a new belief flowered within their
hearts. In the Declaration of Independence, the nation s Founding Fathers claimed
that, should a government be incapable of protecting the natural rights of the people,
it is the people s right to abolish said government. In 1776, the populace managed
such a seemingly impossible and ludicrous feet, and, for a newborn nation, what
Americans accomplished within the following years was nothing short of incredible.
Although there were many trying times that tested the people s tolerance and loyalty
to the Union, the citizens of this land always succeeded in overcoming such hardships
to remain a great nation. However, as the years went by and change rushed into the
United States at a frightening pace and in ways distinctly different from the
vicissitudes of the past, society progressed in rather alarming ways. By the late 19th
and early 20th century, with the development of new perspectives and growth of
cities, the nation was shifting into something quite frightening. It was during this time

Undocumented Immigrants Should Not Be A Citizen Of
The...
Who deserves to be a citizen of the United States (U.S.)? The founders of The United
States of America believed people who immigrated and spent years building lives in
this country deserved citizenship. They were also keenly aware that making new
immigrants wait for citizenship while denying them the very rights that Americans
had just fought to claim for themselves would be detrimental to our relatively new
and fragile country. Today, it s a question President Barack Obama
and Congress have
been trying to answer. As the President and lawmakers, alike, negotiate the contours
of an immigrationreform bill, they should keep in mind that the granting of legal
status to undocumented immigrants would be a boon for the United Stateseconomy.
Moreover, allowing undocumented immigrants to become U.S. citizens would be
equally beneficial to America. Legal status and citizenship enable undocumented
immigrants to produce and earn significantly more than they do when they are on the
economic sidelines. The resulting productivity and wage gains ripple through the
economy because immigrants are not just workers, but they are also consumers and
taxpayers. Once illegal immigrants are granted citizenship, the newly welcomed
citizens can begin to spend their increased earnings on goods and services that will
stimulate demand in the United States economy, which will, ultimately, help create
jobs and expand the economy as well.
Currently, illegal immigration is a growing concern in the United
Heidegger Lecture 2 and 3 of What Is Called Thinking
Sarah Oliver
Presentation
Heidegger
April 19, 2012
In Lecture I of Part II, Heidegger points out that asking the question of What is called
thinking can be incredibly diverse and complicated because there is not just one
explanation for the question, although at a glance it seems pretty simple to explain.
He stresses four ways in which the question can be posed. The first way asks what is
designated by the word thinking, the second asks what logic has to do with thought,
the third asks what the prerequisites are for thinking, and the final question is what
actually commands and provokes us to think? It seems that thinking is like baking a
cake for Heidegger, no ingredient is more important than the other, just like no
question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the question: What is called thinking? is reconsidered in Heidegger terms, it
might better be read as asking, What is it that invites or instructs or directs us into
thinking? or in Heidegger s own words, What is it that appeals to us to think? By
asking this question, the thinker becomes the object of the action, the one who is
invited into thinking and the action is less about defining what thinking is than in
discovering how it is that the pathway into thinking is opened for us.
In Lecture II, Heidegger focuses his attention on the word thinking and what is
considered thought provoking. Thinking is a telling and speaking of language.
Literature is often used as a medium for both science and poetry and for that reason
there is some confusion between what is actually thought provoking. The three
should be separated. There is science, there is thought, and there is poetry and the
difference between poetry and science is that poetic work is a work of our language
much like thinking is, although thinking does not make poetry. Thought and poesy
are related because they never just use language as a means of expression, they are
the actual makers of language and the final speech.
We view science as thinking because we are immersed in it throughout our everyday
lives. Car companies are trying to make cars more efficient and doctors are trying to
figure out how to cure cancer. We are

1.1 Interpolation:
First of all, we will understand that what the interpolation is.
Interpolation is important concept in numerical analysis. Quite often functions may
not be available explicitly but only the values of the function at a set of points, called
nodes, tabular points or pivotal points. Then finding the value of the function at any
non tabular point, is called interpolation.

The inflammation response process:
NB: The response is non specific, attacking any all foreign invaders.
Upon injury, pathogens such as bacteria viruses have a means to enter the body.
The injured cells immediately release distress signals, damaged Mast cells in the

immediately changes the behavior of the blood vessels within the region.
Arterials open, while venules narrow resulting in increased blood flow (This new

Common Themes In Seger s Creating The Myth
Until reading Seger s, Creating the Myth I did not realize how movies are connected
in a special way. Most movies have the common background, and similar heroic
endings, through the story is usually different from one another. The movie I will be
analyzing is The Lion King. It is not the traditional superhero movie, but it has the
same common principles. There were many universal themes embedded in this movie
to help us connect more with the movie. Seger mentions in paragraph 13, many
times...the hero doesn t want to leave, and this is true. Simba, in The Lion King, did
not want to leave but he felt his father, Mufasa, death was because of him. Simba lost
himself and literally almost died from running away until he got help from some
unusual creatures. This is another point Seger mentions in paragraph 14, the hero
usually receives help, and the help often comes from unusual sources. Without the
help from Pumba and Timon, Simba realistically would have died whether from
starvation or depression. These creatures taught him, Hakuna Matata, which taught
Simba not to worry about things he could not fix. Thus, they helped him, in a way,
get away from his past life and pain.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Introduction
Religion, Devotion and Love for God is great and should be followed as a personal
belief, but Superstition is the black market practice in the field of devotion and
should be strongly deterred
A nation that endeavors to be a superpower and wants to join the league of global
leaders in knowledge, science and technology should declare a revolution to eradicate
all ills like superstition and black magic at all levels from its very roots.
If we look at India, one might argue that India being a land of villages and snake
charmers is not free from the evils of superstition, witch hunting, black magic,
exorcism and the like. The number of superstitions and blind beliefs in India is very
large as the Indian social fabric is made of people belonging to various religions,
cultures, ethnicity and languages. There are many ... Show more content on

No religion ordains or justifies black magic, superstition, human sacrifice, witchcraft
or any kind of occult practices. Any resistance to superstition or black magic should
not be construed as anti religion or against the freedom to practice religion which is
provided as a fundamental right under the Constitution. One can be faithful to one s
religion of choice without being superstitious. In India, superstition is part of the
traditional fabric; hence tougher laws are considered antithetical to our cultural ethos.
The problem arises when religion becomes a tool of money making and dupery in
the hands of vested interests to propagate or promote superstition and irrational
practices such as predictive powers to parrots and other animals, exorcist powers to
tantriks and Fathers, etc. It becomes a serious issue when a so called cure is
considered a miracle and is attributed to a deity or a living person like the so called
gurus or god men to boost following in such beliefs which in turn has become a
means for making money for the gurus

Castle Clash Research Paper
Castle Clash is an astounding game full of strategy and competition. Unlike the
dim, rival game, Clash of Clans, Castle Clash is based on heroes. Heroes are a
necessity in this game. You won t get far without them. Heroes in Castle Clash are
separated into three groups; ordinary, elite, and legendary. Ordinary heroes are the
basic type of heroes, the easiest to acquire. The next step up is elite heroes. Elite
heroes are not yet the superlative, but they are far more ameliorating than
ordinaries. They are easily attained, but they re a slight trickier. Legendary heroes
are the most problematical to obtain. Ordinary heroes have the lowest stats, but are
reasonably priced. If you have just started the game, they will be great for you.
There are eight ordinary heroes that consist of Angel, Marauder, Hill Giant,
Engineer, Frost Witch, Dryad, and Marksman. In order to get a specific hero you
have to purchase them with shards. You can also get them by rolling with Honor
Badges or gems, but there is a random choice of what hero you get. Elite heroes have
mediocre stats and are slightly more prefered than ordinary heroes. The following

Adam Miller Campaign Case Study
The Adam Miller Campaign for the 17th Ohio House District was a well organized
campaign. Adam ran his campaign similar to how John Kerry ran his campaigns, and
by this, I mean that Adam more or less ran his own campaign. This does not mean
that Adam did not have a team to help him make decisions. Adam s team was
modeled after the military model of functional units, which he had broken down into
four different units. The first was logistics and supply, this unit was made up of union
leaders and Katherine as a consultant. The next unit was intel, which was made up of
democrats in the statehouse and the OhioDemocratic Party. The third unit was
operations, which was headed by Barbara Herman who was the Campaign Manager
and the student volunteers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Show the community that we are involved in it in a very meaningful way. This was
the strategy that Adam chose because it shows that he truly cares about the
community and not just doing these nice activities to appear appealing to the
community. The important thing about this is that it obviously needs to have a
positive outcome. The first thing that we desired this approach to do was to gain the
support of the community leaders. These community leaders include natural leaders
within the community, Union Leaders, and politically active citizens. One example
of these community leaders was Lisa Boggs. She is a Civic Association Leader and
is on the Ward Committee. This was important because it helped us gain the support
of republicans who have not voted democrat in a very long time. While being
meaningfully involved in the community and gaining the trust of the community
leaders Adam did not ask for an endorsement until the very end. He did this on
purpose because he believed that you have to show you are willing to help them
before they will be ready to help you. In addition to showing his meaningful
involvement in the community when we went canvassing Adam insisted that we
leave a personal note on the literature that we left to show that we truly cared about
talking with them. In addition to showing how much we truly cared about the
community and gaining the trust of the community leaders, we also relied on Mike
Stinziano and Dan Stewart to help gain the trust of the voters in our district.
Democrats in the district know both of these men and trust them both. They helped
our campaign immensely and this is obvious through Dan Stewart helped Adam get
the support of the Somalian Voters. We won ninety percent of the Somalian vote.
When it came time to start canvassing Adam decided he wanted us to start in The
Westgate Neighborhood, specifically Ward 32 and work our way outwards. He
believed this because this
Epic in A Piligrim s Progress by John Bunyan and Heart of...
What is an epic? What does a piece of literature need in order to be considered an
epic? An epic is a journey that the protagonist takes in order to find who they are
themselves. A Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan and Heart of Darkness by Joseph
Conrad are two pieces of literature in which this appears. However, A Pilgrim s
Progress: Part One is more of a dream journey while Heart of Darknessis an actual
physical journey. Both of these novels however follow the standard pattern of an
epic in how they are both journey s in which the person comes to an understanding
of themselves which sometimes and sometimes does not end up saving him. A
Pilgrim s Progress: Part One is a novelthat follows the structure of an epic in many
different ways. For one, as even stated in the novel, Christian s journey is a dream
journey. Another way is how at the beginning of the novel the protagonist
Christian has a large burden on his back that he can not take off. This burden
causes him to have the conviction that he has many sins and is therefore in need of
saving so he goes on a pilgrimage in order to be saved. This follows the epic
structure of being a young, naive man who goes on a journey in order to obtain an
understanding of himself. Throughout Christian s journey he faces many challenges
but also is helped by various people too.
Another part of the epic structure is the young man s journey through the underworld
or hell. This is shown in A Pilgrim s Progress through Christian s

many wonder why there had to be Harriet Tubman. As a leader of the underground

wait for bad times to change, but we have to change them ourselves. She left a
legacy as an equal rights activist. The early life of Harriet Tubmanwas everything but
a decent childhood. Her mom was a slave, and even though her dad was free all the
children were forced to become slaves. As a little girl Harriet watched as many of

The Effects Of Bacteria And Its Effects On The
Environment
Introduction
Bacteria are important microorganisms because they are used by humans for many
reasons (Goel, 2014). For example, they are being use in the production of food such
as cheese and vinegar; production of medical substances such as drugs;
biotechnology, etcetera (Goel, 2014). Thus, such bacteriahave to be mass produced
to be exploited for many purposes in the industry (Goel, 2014). Batch culture, a
closed system with limited supply of nutrients for growth, is commonly used for large
scale production of microorganisms (Hall, et al., 2014; Maier, 2009). This suggest
that with the accumulation of toxic waste products, changing pH, oxygen tension,
and decreasing supply of nutrients, cell growth will be inhibited and the culture will

Finally, bacteria cells enter the death phase as death rate exceeds growth rate (Hall,
et al., 2014; Maier, 2009). The knowledge of the patterns of growth under specified
conditions for any types of bacteria is necessary for large scale production of cheese,
drugs, etcetera (Goel, 2014; Maier, 2009).
Aim
Thus, the aim of the experiment is to show the typical phases of growth of a bacterial
population, Vibrio natriegens, as well as the calculation of the generation time. Also,
this experiment aims to determine how the availability of oxygen affects the growth
of a bacterial population, Vibrio natriegens. The population density will be
determined turbidometrically.
Materials and Methods
12 ml of Vibrio natriegens culture was added to 200 ml of BHI medium contained
in a pre warmed flask (either shaking, aerated, or non shaking, non aerated) in a
water bath at 37В°C. 2 ml of samples of the cultures were removed after inoculation
and at 10 min intervals for approximately 2 hours for measurement of turbidity by
Optical Density (OD) at 590 nm. OD readings were recorded and plotted using log
scale (ordinate) against time after inoculation (abscissa). The mean generation time ()
and mean growth rate (g) were calculated using the following equations respectively:
and .
Results
To plot the growth curve of Vibrio natriegens under aerated or non aerated condition,

The Confidence Gap Analysis
Identity not only mean your name and sex but it also means what and who you are
as a person and how you act as a person. In The Myth of the Latin Woman: I Just

Feminine Styles... J.T. Wood, and The Confidence Gap Katty Kayand Claire Shipman
identity is a major theme that is talked about. In The Myth of the Latin Woman: I Just
Met a Girl Named Maria the main argument is that Hispanic women often struggle
being identified. In Gendered Interaction: Masculine and Feminine Styles... J.T.
the main argument being made is that women and men have different ways of
communicating. In The Confidence Gap the main argument being made is that
women s lack of confidence affects their work life in a negative way. Identity is
related to the three reading passages because it states how women and men are
identified in certain aspects of their life. In The Myth of the Latin Woman: I Just
Met a Girl Named Maria the main argument made is that Hispanic women often
struggle being identified. Judith goes on talking about her experiences with men
and how they identify her as Maria because of her Hispanic heritage. They also
identified her as a person she really wasn t because if the way she dressed up. She
talks about her Puerto Rican culture and how her mother made her dress and act
like a woman at a young age. Later on in the reading passage she says a story about
a job interview in high school and how they had to dress up. For her, dressing up
was different from the other girls because of her heritage. The day of the interview
they were identified as negative models and the whole day they were steered at.
They also called her a Hot Tamale which is a stereotype for Hispanic women and a
couple of other stereotypes were said to her. One of her most memorable incident
was when she was at an event in a boat in Miami and a women called her over
because she thought she was waitress. Those rough times didn t stop Judith from
wanting what she wanted to do which was to fit in the American culture. She
accomplished to get an education and to set the reality of who Latina women are

The Impact that Physical Education Can Have on
Encouraging...
One of the definitions of Physical Education is; regular instruction in physical
exercise and games in schools and other institutions (Oxford English Dictionary). It
is compulsory in the UK for every child up to the age of 16. Physical Education has
been adapted immensely to fit the needs of young people and is still continuing to
change. There are an increasing number of young people leading sedentary lifestyles
by watching television instead of doing physical activity (British Heart Foundation,
2012). In this essay, ideas have been challenged and there is a distinct argument about
the impact that PE can have on encouraging young people to engage in physical
activity.

From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical
Education have been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There
was a strong emphasis on competition and finding elite performers which may not
be an ideal approach. Many children dislike the competitive element of sport and
would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This wouldn t encourage
young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to compete
and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new
National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and
physical activity rather than sport. This reduced the amount of competitive elements
and made it more about taking part. Some would say that the 4th NCPE was seen as
successful as in 2007, 17% of boys and 16% of girls aged 2 15 were classified as
obese and this decreased as in 2009, 16% of boys and 15% of girls aged 2 15 were
seen as obese (Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet England, 2009 and
2011). This slight decrease could be down to the change in the type of activities
offered in school although it may not be the only factor. Giving young people the
opportunity to set personal goals rather than basing everything around competition
would promote life long participation in physical activity as they will get a sense of
achievement from completing that specific goal. However, this focus on health and
Literature Is Literature
What is literature, and why should people read it? These two questions normally
surface on the first day of English and literature classes. In fact, as one Introduction to

countenance, exclaimed most eloquently, Literature is an alive and breathing thing.
It gives life to the past and the present. It makes me know, feel, and love. Without
literature, I would be nothing. Juxtaposed appearance versus thought shows the
power and impact of literature. Without literature, we would be nothing; we would
have no thought, feelings, or life. By reading, sharing, discussing, and writing,
literature breathes life into the breathless. Students are not the only ones who grapple
with these questions. What is literature? is the very question Terry Eagleton opens
with in his book Literary Theory: An Introduction. Moving away from the
nontraditional student, how does a prominent professor and esteemed literary critic
answer the same question? Remarkably, he dittos that of the mechanic. In Eagleton s
opening chapter The Rise of English, he responds in much the same way by
asserting literature s task is to transform society in the name of those energies and
values which art embodies (17). Eagleton adds further elaboration to his view of
literature s development and definition; in his chapter The Rise of Literature he
Of Mice and Men Exposes the Lives of Migrant Workers in...
Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, is a story about two migrant workers,
George Milton and Lennie Small. They travel around with each other, during the
Depression, looking for work. In the first chapter, George and Lennie are portrayed
like tramps, who wander the streets looking for a place to live and work. They get
both of these as the agency Murray and Ready s find them work at Buck Barley .
George is very dependant on Lennie throughout the book, as George is mentally
immature. They both, however, rely on each other for companionship, as they travel
around together, and they need someone to talk to in the ranch. Lennie does say,

Many Americans believed that if they worked hard, they could be successful and
have their own land, like George and Lennie had dreamed of. This was known as
the American Dream . After the collapse of the New York Wall Street stock market
in 1929, America suffered from a long economic depression. They only came out
of this at the beginning of the Second World War in 1939. Men went from ranch to
ranch looking for work, mostly without their families. This meant that all money
they made had to be sent back to them, for their children and wives. Work was very
poorly paid, so it was very hard for people to buy their own land, which is why it
was only a dream! This is why it is such a main point in the book when George and
Lennie talk about their dream . During the time of the Depression lots of migrant
workers came to California form all over America, looking for work. Life for
George and Lennie on the ranch was very lonely, and for all the other men. They
played cards together and horseshoes, and even played solitaire , showing how
lonely they actually were. The men couldn t bring family with them, so they missed
friends and relatives a lot. However, for George and Lennie, they were pretty much
family anyway and had been travelling around together, so I don t think they were as
lonely as the rest of the

The War of Currents (Thomas Edison vs. Nikola Tesla)
Thomas Edison was not the true inventor and genius behind the light bulb because his
inventions did not severely affect the world and was not the man that we think of
today; Nikola Teslaon the other hand was a futuristic man who transformed the
1880 s and beyond like no other. The War of Currents was a rivalry that broke out
during the late 1880 s when Nikola Tesla irately resigned from Edison s company
after resolving issues with his Direct Current. Tesla had a strong passion to change the
world especially with his Alternating Current which transformed the United States
better than ever, proving Edison to be less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Chicago World Exposition was a noteworthy event during the time period and
whoever got the contract to light up the fair was said to be the true genius behind
electricity; competition was extremely fierce and confidence and dedication from
both parties finally resulted in a win for Westinghouse and Tesla. After a long dispute
with Thomas Edison about the best way to distribute electricity, Westinghouse had
won the contract to power the fair (McPherson 6). Unfortunately, this proved that
Edison had lost the battle; the DC was not the solution to triumph for the future of
the United States giving Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse the path to the
future of a technology that revolutionized history. The Tesla Coil was another
device that Tesla innovated later in his career; this was capable of producing high
voltage, low current, alternating current electricity; simply making his efficient
technology more efficient. According to the Unarius Academy of Science, To Tesla,
earth or ground was a better conductor of electrical energy than was the air or
atmosphere! He was a brilliant pioneer investigating new avenues of mechanical and
electrical resonances and introducing new ways to use electrical energy ( Tesla Coil ).
Tesla always looked up to
Growing Up In The House On Mango Street By Sandra
Cisneros
In the novel, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the theme of growing
up is prevalent throughout the book. Throughout the novel, a young mexican girl
named Esperanza goes through experiences as she matures that involve her friends,
society, dangers that expose her to the outside world and help her to realize what the
real worldis like.
The first time Esperanza makes an appearance in the book, she is younger and easily
manipulated, especially by her friends. Esperanza meets a girl named Cathy, a
snobby girl that lived on Mango Street. When Cathy tells Esperanza Okay, I ll be
your friend. But only until next Tuesday. That s when we move away. Then as if
she forgot I had just moved in, she says the neighborhood is getting bad (13) This
was a racist statement towards Esperanza and her family, something she doesn t quite
understand yet because Esperanza thinks Cathy forgot they moved in, yet she was
actually being racist. This is the first time Esperanza is exposed to racism in the
book, therefore exposing her to the outside world. Later in the book, Esperanza
meets Sally, a beautiful girl with shiny black hair, that all she seemingly just wants
is to love, and Esperanza wants to be just like her. I like your black coat and the
shoes you wear, where did you get them? I want to buy shoes just like yours. (82)
Sally and Esperanza become friends, but later in the story, in the chapter Red
Clowns, Esperanza is put in a dangerous situation where Sally walks off
Unfair Dismissal
t is important to distinguish unfair dismissal from the common law remedy for
wrongful dismissal. The latter is a civil law remedy essentially based upon breach
of the contract of employment. From the point of view of the employee, there are
significant deficiencies in this civil law relief as a remedy. Because an employer
is generally entitled under the terms of the contract to dismiss upon giving the
appropriate period of notice as stipulated by the contract, damages will often be
limited to the loss of earnings during that period. The civil law does not provide for
a remedy by way of reinstatement. There is no remedy based upon breach of
contract for failure to follow appropriate grievance and disciplinary procedures prior
to dismissal.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the employee lost on further appeal when Lord Denning held that for
there to be a constructive dismissal, the employer s actions had to amount to a
significant breach of the contract of employment. This therefore applied a
contractual analysis more akin to the civil law wrongful dismissal approach.
However, as will be seen below, cases of constructive dismissal are now regulated
by the statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures introduced by the
Employment Act 2002 (EA 2002). It will be argued that these new requirements
have the effect of tipping the scales too far in favour of the employer in many
cases. Fairness Section 98(4) of ERA 1996 defines this concept: the question
whether the dismissal is fair or unfair (having regard to the reason shown by the
employer) (a) depends on whether in the circumstances (including the size and
administrative resources of the employer s undertaking) the employer acted
reasonably or unreasonably in treating it as a sufficient reason for dismissing the
employee, and (b) shall be determined in accordance with equity and the substantial
merits of the case. It should be noted, however, that s.34 EA 2002 inserted a new
s.98A into ERA 1996 which provides that breach by the employer of a statutory
procedure on dismissal, which sets down the minimum procedural requirements,
means that the dismissal is in any event automatically unfair. (The

HOW IS THE RAINFOREST HELPFUL TO US?
Malcolm Clay
ITT Technical Institute
The rainforest is helpful to us in many ways. Rainforests can be found all over the
world from as far north as Alaska and Canada to Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Rainforests are found on every continent across the Earth, except Antarctica. There
are two major types of rainforest: temperate rainforests and tropical rainforests. The
largest temperate rainforests are found on North America s Pacific Coast and stretch
from Northern California up into Canada. Temperate rainforests used to exist on
almost every continent in the world, but today only 50 percent 75 million acres of
these forests remain worldwide. Rainforests act as the world s thermostat by ... Show

Argumentative Essay On Cults
Cults have been around since the beginning of civilization and today there are
thousands of cults around the world. Cults vary in ideas and beliefs, whether it be
political, scientific, or focused on self development. The majority of cults claim to
have the answer to life s biggest, toughest questions and, use this to their advantage.
They target people with loneliness or, people who look to fill a void in their life.
Cults across time have consistently shown that the power of manipulation can
empower a group and lead them to commit even the craziest of acts like mass suicide
and murder. While we associate cults with violence, cults are formed on a religious
type basis that maintains its followers faith geographically. According to Webster s

  • 1. Bonnie And Clyde Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Bonnie and Clyde" presents its own set of challenges, as it requires a delicate balance between historical accuracy, cinematic interpretation, and the exploration of the complex personalities of the infamous criminal duo. The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of their tumultuous lives, understanding the socio-economic backdrop of the Great Depression, and dissecting the cultural impact of the Bonnie and Clyde narrative. Research is a crucial aspect, demanding a deep dive into historical records, biographies, and academic analyses to uncover the layers of truth and myth surrounding Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. Extracting credible information from various sources and discerning fact from embellishment can be a meticulous process. Moreover, navigating through the different cinematic portrayals of Bonnie and Clyde adds an extra layer of complexity, requiring a critical examination of how filmmakers have shaped public perception over the years. Crafting a compelling thesis that goes beyond a mere retelling of their criminal escapades is another hurdle. The essay must delve into the psychological dimensions of Bonnie and Clyde, exploring the motivations behind their actions and the societal conditions that contributed to their criminal path. This necessitates a nuanced understanding of criminology, psychology, and sociology, adding to the intricacy of the writing process. Moreover, maintaining a coherent narrative that seamlessly weaves together historical facts, cinematic interpretations, and academic analysis requires a high level of organization and clarity of thought. Balancing these elements while adhering to academic standards and maintaining an engaging writing style can be a daunting task. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Bonnie and Clyde" demands a thorough and multidimensional approach, involving historical research, critical analysis of cinematic representations, and a deep understanding of the socio-cultural context. Navigating through these complexities requires dedication, research skills, and the ability to synthesize diverse sources into a cohesive narrative. • 3. Black Friday The Metaphorical God Of Consumerism Black Friday, the metaphorical god of consumerism. The time of year when practically all things purchasable in stores are dramatically reduced in price. Some people, such as journalist Mark Walsh, hate this day of the year, equating it to a black hole that sucked everything into its terrifying abyss, where all substance is torn to shreds and obliterated . And while there may be some merit to this stance, Black Fridayis not an evil day. Black Friday provides many good things and does not exclusively exsist for excessive material gain. While drastically reduced prices act as a very effective lure to people looking to get something good for less expense, it also provides an opportunity for families or individuals who are poorer than most

George Etienne Cartier s Legacy And Contributions For my heritage fair I decided to research George Etienne Cartier, who if you haven t heard about was a lawyer, rebel, politician and railway promoter whose contributions to Confederation were on the same level as figures like John A. Furthermore, if you were wondering why I chose this topic to research, I would truthfully tell you that the only reason I chose George Etienne Cartier was because he was as good a topic as anything else, so personally I didn t care about the topic. But as I put more research into the topic I came to realize just how important George Etienne Cartier was to Canada. Not just in his efforts towards Confederation but also the work he put into preserving French culture and identity in Canada to railway development. Of course this isn t as exciting as many other topics, but without George Cartier s legacy and contributions we would most likely not be where we are today. In this report I will be covering the life of George Etienne Cartier, including his early life, background, political life before and after Confederation. George Etienne Cartier was born on September 6th 1814 in Saint Antoine sur Richelieu to parents Jacques Cartier (not the explorer) and Marguerite Paradis. • 7. Italian Artaud Research Paper Born in Marseille, France, on September 4, 1896, Antonin Artaud worked as an actor onstage and in film with works like La Passion de Jeanne d Arc. He was involved in the surrealist movement as a writer and came up with the idea known as The Theater of Cruelty, which argued that drama must abandon its emphasis on text and rely on more mysterious, primal expressions of sound, movement and light. Considered among the most influential figures in the evolution of modern drama theory, Antonin Artaud associated himself with Surrealist writers, artists, and experimental theater groups in Paris during the 1920s. Antoine Marie Joseph Artaud was born to Euphrasie Nalpas and Antoine Roi Artaud in Marseille, France. At the age of four, he suffered from meningitis, which ultimately gave him an edgy, short tempered personality throughout his adolescence. He also suffered from stammering problems and clinical depression. In 1916, he was drafted into the French Army and was allegedly discharged due to sleepwalking. After he was discharged, he was admitted to a sanatorium for a while. During this time, he read the works of Arthur Rimbaud and Edgar Allan Poe. Therefore, the total lung capacity (the vital capacity volume plus the residual volume) is approximately 6000 milliliters. All of these volumes (except residual volume) can be easily measured using a spirometer. Basically, a spirometer is composed of an inverted bell in a water tank. A breathing tube is connected to the bell s interior. On the exterior of the inverted bell is attached a pen device that records respiratory volumes on paper. When one exhales into the breathing tube, the bell goes up and down with exhalation. Everything is calibrated so that respiratory volumes can be read directly from the paper record. The paper moves at a pre set speed past the recording pen so that volumes per unit time can be easily calculated. In addition to measuring the respiratory volumes introduced so far, the spirometer can also be used to perform pulmonary function tests. One such test is the forced vital capacity (FVC), or the amount of air that can be expelled completely and as rapidly as possible after taking in the deepest possible breath. Another test is the forced expiratory volume (FEV1), which is the percentage of vital capacity that is exhaled during a 1 sec period of the FVC test. This value is generally 75% to 85% of the vital capacity. In the following experiments you will be simulating spirometry and

Which will eventually lead to less than stellar product development and ultimately a loss in revenue. For existing employees a training program also has numerous benefits: It will help them to continually improve their knowledge, skill sets and keep them fully engaged in their work. The two piece of woods were then trimmed with a jigsaw and further trimmed with the band saw. The pacific maples were then sanded to remove the marks created from the band saw. After that, two shorter pieces were chosen and the same steps were applied. The two pieces were nailed and using a template the handles of the timber tray were drawn. The drill press was then used to drill holes into the two pieces and then the handles were made from using a jigsaw. The jigsaw sawed off the wood in marked area from the template. The pair of handles were sanded to take of any sharp edges and to make the handle smooth. Both pairs of wood were taken apart so there would be four pieces of wood, two long and two short. Then the finger joint were made using the finger jointing machine (trimmer router) were when cutting the joint for the shorter pieces, the end of the longer piece was put up against the shorter piece and then that was drilled to create the finger joints. Once this process was done, the four pieces were joined up to create the timber frame. This frame was then glued together using PVA glue. The base and the frame were put together with a thin layer of PVA glue and then reinforced with twelve millimeter nails. The base had four nails along the length and three nails on the width. Nails weren t nailed in the corners because it could nail into the joint, which would separate the joint and create a gap in the joint. Once the glue had dried the timber tray was put on the linisher and the timber tray was sanded to remove bits created by the linisher. After that, linseed oil was applied to the timber tray. • 13. Machiavelli The Prince Chapter 6 Summary D.I.Y. Empire In The Prince, Machiavelli discusses ways in which a ruler should obtain power and maintain power, emphasizing the concept of gaining power through virtue versus fortune. Virtue, or virtu in the original Italian, is defined as the masculine quality of power, and not necessarily tied to ideas of morality as it is in the English definition. Gaining power through virtue is the process of gaining power through one s own ability, while gaining power through fortune is the process of gaining power through means not related to one s own ability such as wealth or another s grace. In Chapter 6 of The Prince, Machiavelli discusses principalities gained through virtue and their characteristics. Rulers who wish to gain such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His enemies are those of the older order, who did well under it and are reluctant to change to a new order. His allies are those who would do well under the new order but are, as Machiavelli puts it, lukewarm and, therefore, aren t entirely dedicated. This is in part due to their fear of the new prince s enemies, those who do not want a new order, and in part due to their skepticism in the ability of the prince to impose this new order. As such, it is very dangerous to impose a new order where one may face attack by hostile forces and have only lukewarm defenders of the new order. It is then necessary to examine how the prince will utilize his virtue. If he is to beg and ask others for help, he is then seen as week and cannot accomplish his goal. The alternative is to use force , to arm themselves, and to literally force those who do not believe in the new order to believe. After all, human nature is changeable and easily changed, but difficult to maintain in a certain persuasion, after which force is necessary to maintain it. And once created through great difficulty, it is then easy to maintain, as under the prince s rule, the need for force will lessen, since those who would rebel are eliminated and the ruler gains reputation and respect from his subjects. The examples of such principalities and rulers Machiavellie provides are of Moses, Cyrus, Romulus and Theseus. In the first example of Moses, Machiavelli admits that the lines are a bit

The law of supply states that there s a positive relationship between the price and quantity supplied of a good ceteris paribus; as price increases, quantity supplied increases. The law of demand, states that there s a negative relationship between the price and quantity demanded of a good ceteris paribus; as price increases, quantity demanded decreases. The change in supply results from a nonprice determinant; the rain and snow. Because of this, the oat harvest has been delayed and farmers are unable to harvest as much as they were capable of in previous years. Because oats are a primary commodity; a product produced in the primary sector, they have a fairly inelastic demand because they are a necessity without many substitutes. The change in prices will cause a drop in profits for farmers and producers. The poor weather conditions also affects the quality of the oats as a result, more oats end up as food for the livestock instead of being sent to producers who manufacture oat products. The supply curve shifts leftwards and leads to an increase in price from P1 to P2 and a decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2. Figure B: Supply and Demand for Producers of Oat Products Figure B shows a leftward shift in the supply curve from S1 to S2 for producers who require oats for production. Due to the non price determinant that caused farmers to acquire less supply, this in turn results in a smaller supply for the producers. Furthermore, a smaller supply means the prices of oats will rise and the producers will require more money for production. This results in an increase in price from P1 to P2 and a decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2. Figure C: Consumer s Demand for Products with

So let s try to have a nice little examination of literacy. When talking about literacy one must, consequently, start at the bottom and work up. It just makes the whole discussion easier. How does one even become literate? Every single person on the planet will give a different answer. There s not some how to book for becoming literate, or some pill you take. You do things that involve other people s works of literature and build your own semblance of literacy off of theirs until finally, your literacy has enough gumption to stand up on the metaphorical literature pedestal with Dickens and Tolstoy. Of course, I haven t quite made it that far yet. So here is my story up to
  • 21. The Roots Of The American Revolution The roots of the attitude of Americans today may be traced all the way back to when the people living in this land first truly became Americans; that is, amidst the American Revolution. It was during that time when the colonists residing in the thirteen British established colonies came to the startling decision to break away from their mother country Great Britain, whose gracious nurture and aid for the colonists became stifling tyranny and injustice that a new belief flowered within their hearts. In the Declaration of Independence, the nation s Founding Fathers claimed that, should a government be incapable of protecting the natural rights of the people, it is the people s right to abolish said government. In 1776, the populace managed such a seemingly impossible and ludicrous feet, and, for a newborn nation, what Americans accomplished within the following years was nothing short of incredible. Although there were many trying times that tested the people s tolerance and loyalty to the Union, the citizens of this land always succeeded in overcoming such hardships to remain a great nation. However, as the years went by and change rushed into the United States at a frightening pace and in ways distinctly different from the vicissitudes of the past, society progressed in rather alarming ways. By the late 19th and early 20th century, with the development of new perspectives and growth of cities, the nation was shifting into something quite frightening. It was during this time

  • 24. Undocumented Immigrants Should Not Be A Citizen Of The... Who deserves to be a citizen of the United States (U.S.)? The founders of The United States of America believed people who immigrated and spent years building lives in this country deserved citizenship. They were also keenly aware that making new immigrants wait for citizenship while denying them the very rights that Americans had just fought to claim for themselves would be detrimental to our relatively new and fragile country. Today, it s a question President Barack Obama and Congress have been trying to answer. As the President and lawmakers, alike, negotiate the contours of an immigrationreform bill, they should keep in mind that the granting of legal status to undocumented immigrants would be a boon for the United Stateseconomy. Moreover, allowing undocumented immigrants to become U.S. citizens would be equally beneficial to America. Legal status and citizenship enable undocumented immigrants to produce and earn significantly more than they do when they are on the economic sidelines. The resulting productivity and wage gains ripple through the economy because immigrants are not just workers, but they are also consumers and taxpayers. Once illegal immigrants are granted citizenship, the newly welcomed citizens can begin to spend their increased earnings on goods and services that will stimulate demand in the United States economy, which will, ultimately, help create jobs and expand the economy as well. Currently, illegal immigration is a growing concern in the United

Heidegger Lecture 2 and 3 of What Is Called Thinking Sarah Oliver Presentation Heidegger April 19, 2012 In Lecture I of Part II, Heidegger points out that asking the question of What is called thinking can be incredibly diverse and complicated because there is not just one explanation for the question, although at a glance it seems pretty simple to explain. He stresses four ways in which the question can be posed. The first way asks what is designated by the word thinking, the second asks what logic has to do with thought, the third asks what the prerequisites are for thinking, and the final question is what actually commands and provokes us to think? It seems that thinking is like baking a cake for Heidegger, no ingredient is more important than the other, just like no question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the question: What is called thinking? is reconsidered in Heidegger terms, it might better be read as asking, What is it that invites or instructs or directs us into thinking? or in Heidegger s own words, What is it that appeals to us to think? By asking this question, the thinker becomes the object of the action, the one who is invited into thinking and the action is less about defining what thinking is than in discovering how it is that the pathway into thinking is opened for us. In Lecture II, Heidegger focuses his attention on the word thinking and what is considered thought provoking. Thinking is a telling and speaking of language. Literature is often used as a medium for both science and poetry and for that reason there is some confusion between what is actually thought provoking. The three should be separated. There is science, there is thought, and there is poetry and the difference between poetry and science is that poetic work is a work of our language much like thinking is, although thinking does not make poetry. Thought and poesy are related because they never just use language as a means of expression, they are the actual makers of language and the final speech. We view science as thinking because we are immersed in it throughout our everyday lives. Car companies are trying to make cars more efficient and doctors are trying to figure out how to cure cancer. Most movies have the common background, and similar heroic endings, through the story is usually different from one another. The movie I will be analyzing is The Lion King. It is not the traditional superhero movie, but it has the same common principles. There were many universal themes embedded in this movie to help us connect more with the movie. Seger mentions in paragraph 13, many times...the hero doesn t want to leave, and this is true. Simba, in The Lion King, did not want to leave but he felt his father, Mufasa, death was because of him. Simba lost himself and literally almost died from running away until he got help from some unusual creatures. This is another point Seger mentions in paragraph 14, the hero usually receives help, and the help often comes from unusual sources. Without the help from Pumba and Timon, Simba realistically would have died whether from starvation or depression. This was the strategy that Adam chose because it shows that he truly cares about the community and not just doing these nice activities to appear appealing to the community. The important thing about this is that it obviously needs to have a positive outcome. The first thing that we desired this approach to do was to gain the support of the community leaders. These community leaders include natural leaders within the community, Union Leaders, and politically active citizens. One example of these community leaders was Lisa Boggs. She is a Civic Association Leader and is on the Ward Committee. This was important because it helped us gain the support of republicans who have not voted democrat in a very long time. While being meaningfully involved in the community and gaining the trust of the community leaders Adam did not ask for an endorsement until the very end. He did this on purpose because he believed that you have to show you are willing to help them before they will be ready to help you. In addition to showing his meaningful involvement in the community when we went canvassing Adam insisted that we leave a personal note on the literature that we left to show that we truly cared about talking with them. • 33. Epic in A Piligrim s Progress by John Bunyan and Heart of... What is an epic? What does a piece of literature need in order to be considered an epic? An epic is a journey that the protagonist takes in order to find who they are themselves. A Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad are two pieces of literature in which this appears. However, A Pilgrim s Progress: Part One is more of a dream journey while Heart of Darknessis an actual physical journey. Both of these novels however follow the standard pattern of an epic in how they are both journey s in which the person comes to an understanding of themselves which sometimes and sometimes does not end up saving him. A Pilgrim s Progress: Part One is a novelthat follows the structure of an epic in many different ways. For one, as even stated in the novel, Christian s journey is a dream journey. Another way is how at the beginning of the novel the protagonist Christian has a large burden on his back that he can not take off. This burden causes him to have the conviction that he has many sins and is therefore in need of saving so he goes on a pilgrimage in order to be saved. This follows the epic structure of being a young, naive man who goes on a journey in order to obtain an understanding of himself. Throughout Christian s journey he faces many challenges but also is helped by various people too. Another part of the epic structure is the young man s journey through the underworld or hell. This is shown in A Pilgrim s Progress through Christian s

For example, they are being use in the production of food such as cheese and vinegar; production of medical substances such as drugs; biotechnology, etcetera (Goel, 2014). Thus, such bacteriahave to be mass produced to be exploited for many purposes in the industry (Goel, 2014). There was a strong emphasis on competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children dislike the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This wouldn t encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical activity rather than sport. This reduced the amount of competitive elements and made it more about taking part. • 39. Literature Is Literature What is literature, and why should people read it? These two questions normally surface on the first day of English and literature classes. In fact, as one Introduction to Literature class ended the 2017 Spring semester with student presentations, the final presenter, a middle age auto mechanic with oily stained hands and a battered countenance, exclaimed most eloquently, Literature is an alive and breathing thing. It gives life to the past and the present. It makes me know, feel, and love. Without literature, I would be nothing. Juxtaposed appearance versus thought shows the power and impact of literature. Without literature, we would be nothing; we would have no thought, feelings, or life. By reading, sharing, discussing, and writing, literature breathes life into the breathless. Students are not the only ones who grapple with these questions. What is literature? is the very question Terry Eagleton opens with in his book Literary Theory: An Introduction. Moving away from the nontraditional student, how does a prominent professor and esteemed literary critic answer the same question? Remarkably, he dittos that of the mechanic. In Eagleton s opening chapter The Rise of English, he responds in much the same way by asserting literature s task is to transform society in the name of those energies and values which art embodies (17). Eagleton adds further elaboration to his view of literature s development and definition; in his chapter The Rise of Literature he

However, for George and Lennie, they were pretty much family anyway and had been travelling around together, so I don t think they were as lonely as the rest of the

Nikola Tesla s Second Industrial Revolution Rohan Nipunge Mrs. Pellegrino/Dr. McCord Honors Humanities 9 27 October 2016 The War of Currents (Thomas Edison vs. Nikola Tesla) Thomas Edison was not the true inventor and genius behind the light bulb because his inventions did not severely affect the world and was not the man that we think of today; Nikola Teslaon the other hand was a futuristic man who transformed the 1880 s and beyond like no other. The War of Currents was a rivalry that broke out during the late 1880 s when Nikola Tesla irately resigned from Edison s company after resolving issues with his Direct Current. Tesla had a strong passion to change the world especially with his Alternating Current which transformed the United States better than ever, proving Edison to be less ... The Chicago World Exposition was a noteworthy event during the time period and whoever got the contract to light up the fair was said to be the true genius behind electricity; competition was extremely fierce and confidence and dedication from both parties finally resulted in a win for Westinghouse and Tesla. After a long dispute with Thomas Edison about the best way to distribute electricity, Westinghouse had won the contract to power the fair (McPherson 6). Unfortunately, this proved that Edison had lost the battle; the DC was not the solution to triumph for the future of the United States giving Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse the path to the future of a technology that revolutionized history. The Tesla Coil was another device that Tesla innovated later in his career; this was capable of producing high voltage, low current, alternating current electricity; simply making his efficient technology more efficient. According to the Unarius Academy of Science, To Tesla, earth or ground was a better conductor of electrical energy than was the air or atmosphere! He was a brilliant pioneer investigating new avenues of mechanical and electrical resonances and introducing new ways to use electrical energy ( Tesla Coil ). Tesla always looked up to

Then as if she forgot I had just moved in, she says the neighborhood is getting bad (13) This was a racist statement towards Esperanza and her family, something she doesn t quite understand yet because Esperanza thinks Cathy forgot they moved in, yet she was actually being racist. • 43. Unfair Dismissal t is important to distinguish unfair dismissal from the common law remedy for wrongful dismissal. The latter is a civil law remedy essentially based upon breach of the contract of employment. From the point of view of the employee, there are significant deficiencies in this civil law relief as a remedy. Because an employer is generally entitled under the terms of the contract to dismiss upon giving the appropriate period of notice as stipulated by the contract, damages will often be limited to the loss of earnings during that period. The civil law does not provide for a remedy by way of reinstatement. There is no remedy based upon breach of contract for failure to follow appropriate grievance and disciplinary procedures prior to dismissal.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the employee lost on further appeal when Lord Denning held that for there to be a constructive dismissal, the employer s actions had to amount to a significant breach of the contract of employment. This therefore applied a contractual analysis more akin to the civil law wrongful dismissal approach. However, as will be seen below, cases of constructive dismissal are now regulated by the statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures introduced by the Employment Act 2002 (EA 2002). It will be argued that these new requirements have the effect of tipping the scales too far in favour of the employer in many cases. Fairness Section 98(4) of ERA 1996 defines this concept: the question whether the dismissal is fair or unfair (having regard to the reason shown by the employer) (a) depends on whether in the circumstances (including the size and administrative resources of the employer s undertaking) the employer acted reasonably or unreasonably in treating it as a sufficient reason for dismissing the employee, and (b) shall be determined in accordance with equity and the substantial merits of the case. It should be noted, however, that s.34 EA 2002 inserted a new s.98A into ERA 1996 which provides that breach by the employer of a statutory procedure on dismissal, which sets down the minimum procedural requirements, means that the dismissal is in any event automatically unfair.
