Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances through radio transmissions between various devices like mobile phones, laptops, printers etc. It was created by Ericsson in 1994 to provide a wireless alternative to RS-232 cables and allows devices to connect without wires. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group oversees the development of the Bluetooth specification and qualifications process. To be marketed as Bluetooth, a device must be qualified to SIG standards.
