Bluetooth was developed by Ericsson and named after a Danish king. It allows wireless transmission of data such as music and pictures over short distances using radio frequencies. Originally created in 1994 to replace RS-232 cables, Bluetooth can connect multiple devices and overcome synchronization problems using frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology.
