After the week long celebrations starting from 1st February, all of us celebrated the 150th Foundation
Day along with our families with great enthusiasm. While the units and establishments across the
country celebrated the occasion on 7th February, the Eastern Region celebrated it on 12th February. It
was indeed a matter of great pride and honour to have Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of
State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, as the Chief Guest of our function at
Kolkata. All of us are extremely grateful to him for taking time off his busy schedule to join us in the
celebrations. His presence was of immense motivation and we were highly privileged to hear from him.

5. Mr. Prabal Basu, C&MD and Mr. D Sothi Selvam, Director [Manufacturing Businesses] visited AVI-Oil,
our Joint Venture Company on 20th January 2016. Besides inspecting the manufacturing unit, they
planted saplings in the factory premises, during their visit.
A study visit of the committee on papers laid on table, Rajya Sabha Kolkata, West Bengal was hosted
by Balmer Lawrie and other Companies at the Grand Hotel, Kolkata on 1st & 2nd February 2016.

6. India - Africa Hydrocarbon Conference
The 4th India Africa Hydrocarbon Conference (IAHC) was held under the aegis of
Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MOPNG) on 21st & 22nd January, 2016 at Delhi. It
was attended by representatives of the Oil Ministries from eighteen countries in Africa
and almost all the oil companies in India.
For this conference, integrated logistics support was provided by our company, which included
arrangements for international and national ticketing, conference and evening functions arrangements,
hotel accommodation and facilitation of movement of VIPs and other guests. Balmer Lawrie took
immense pride in being the trusted partner of the Ministry for hosting the prestigious conference.
In the month of January 2016, Logistics Delhi successfully executed a Project Movement for NTPC -
Meja, from Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi to Meja Thermal Power Plant. There were three diesel
locomotives which were transported and unloaded at Meja TPP by Balmer Lawrie.
7. SBU:G&L participated in the SML-ISUZU free service camp conducted at Silver Motors Manjery-
Malapuram District, Kerala in January 2016. The event received good response and helped in increasing
branding of our company
Three training programs were organised for employees in the Non-Officer category in Chennai. On 2nd &
4th January two training sessions were conducted on Integrated Management System (IMS). 51
employees were trained through these sessions. The other training program on Organisational &
Personal Effectiveness (O&PE) saw the participation of 22 employees.

8. The Annual General Meeting of Balmer Lawrie Recreation Club was
held on 8th January at the Corporate Office in Kolkata.

A Training Program on "Behavioural Aspects" was organized in Delhi on 29th January for Officers of
SBU:T&V in the Northern Region. The program was conducted by Ms. Manjusha Bhatnagar, Director

HSE (HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT) UPDATE

10. Turbo ventilators in shop floor, IP - Asaoti HSE team members with Red Helmets, IP - Asaoti
The IP - Asaoti Team did a commendable job in improving the overall HSE performance of the unit.
Based on audit recommendations, 28 numbers of turbo ventilators were installed in the shop floor and
special effort was made to improve the guarding in the de-coiling section. The safety stewards at the
unit can be easily identified by their red helmets and the safety tool box is appropriately placed
everywhere. A unique record of zero LTI has been maintained since the last 4 years. Kudos to team IP
- Asaoti for the wonderful job done and wish they sustain zero injury in the years to come!
HSE legal training at Mumbai & Silvassa
Legal training programs on HSE were conducted in January 2016 with the help of external faculty for
executives operating from Mumbai and Silvassa. Related provisions of HSE in Factories act, Electricity
act, Environment protection act were discussed in detail during the sessions.
As part of CSR, Balmer Lawrie has funded construction of a water tank in Padghe village at Taloja. This
project, which was initiated along with Rotary Club of Panvel Industrial Town Charitable Trust is nearing
completion. Mr. D Sothi Selvam, Director [Manufacturing Businesses] and members from the Mumbai
team visited Padghe village, Taloja in January 2016 for overseeing the construction of water tank. The
company has spent Rs. 67 lakhs for taking up this project, which will benefit 10,000 villagers of Taloja.
