It’s appraisal time! All Executives, Officers and Personnel on Fixed Tern Contract are requested to
take note of the circular issued by Corporate HR Department (dated 9th March 2022; Ref: No. BL /
CHRD / PMS / 2021-22 / 003) on Performance Appraisal of Executives, Officers and those on Fixed
Term Contract for the Assessment Year 2021-22. Please follow the timelines stringently for
successful completion of the appraisal process. At Balmer Lawrie we have a robust online
Performance Management System (PMS), which is an important keystone of individual and
business growth and development. Our PMS strives to enhance transparency and institutionalize
performance orientation.
The month of February 2022 was eventful. Though the Foundation Day programs were low key, it
further strengthened the bonding and camaraderie amongst all Balmer Lawriens. SBU: Greases &
Lubricants and SBU: Chemicals won Gold as part of the National Award for Manufacturing
Competitiveness (NAMC). With great pride BLOOM congratulates both the teams! Mr. Amlan Gupta
took charge as Head [Cold Chain], effective 22nd February 2022 following the release of Mr. Manas
Kumar Ganguly, ex-COO [Cold Chain]. He is based at the Ballard Estate Office in Mumbai.
Preparations for National Safety Week and International Women’s Day programs typically begin in
February. The 51st National Safety Day was successfully observed on 4th March and the National
Safety Week (NSW) celebrations continued till 10th March 2022. The theme for NSW this year was
‘सुरक्षा संस्कृ ति क
े विकास हेिु युिाओं को प्रोत्साहहि करें / Nurture Young Minds Develop Safety Culture.’ A
host of programs centered on the theme were organized by the HSE Department. We will bring you
details of the programs in the next issue of BLOOM.
During this time of the year, regional new year days are celebrated in our country. We will soon
celebrate Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand, Poila Boishakh, Baisakhi, Rongali Bihu, Vishu etc. in the
coming month. Tons of new year wishes from BLOOM for all of you!

2. Balmer Lawrie is a Miniratna I PSE under Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.
Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri is the Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Housing and Urban
Affairs and Mr. Rameswar Teli is the Hon'ble State Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Labour and
Employment. Mr. Rameshwar Teli was in Kolkata enroute to Bhubaneswar in the end of January 2022.
Our Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. Adika Ratna Sekhar visited Mr. Teli at the Netaji Subhash
Chandra Bose International Airport lounge in Kolkata, felicitated him and gave him a brief update about
the performance of the Company.
Balmer Lawrie - Vacations Exotica (VE) successfully handled the event management on behalf of Indian
Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), nodal Company under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and
Natural Gas for organising the North East Zonal Conference on PM Gati Shakti - National Master Plan
for multi modal connectivity - at Guwahati on 28th February, 2022. Hon'ble Prime Minister addressed
the webinar. Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Housing and
Urban Affairs, Mr. Rameswar Teli, Hon'ble State Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Labour and
Employment, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam and Ministers of the participating States addressed the
conference. The deliverables included end-to-end guest management, personalised assistance for VIP
guests, hotel stay, banquet arrangements, vehicles / transportation, welcome kiosk at airport, transfer
to / from hotel, helpdesk and registration counter at the hotel, branding and all event collateral
support, mementos for guests, video and photography, coverage on social media etc. Kudos to Mr.
Vijay Nautiyal and team from VE - Delhi for meticulously managing the event!

It is a matter of great pride that the Silvassa plant of SBU: Greases & Lubricants (G&L) and the
Chennai plant of SBU: Chemicals won Gold as part of the National Award for Manufacturing
Competitiveness (NAMC) instituted by International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM). The
virtual award function was telecast on CNBC TV 18 on 27th February 2022. Hearty congratulations to
both SBU: G&L and SBU: Chemicals!
4. A free Health check-up camp was organised for all employees at Greases & Lubricants - Kolkata on 11th
February 2022, in collaboration with Narayana Super speciality Hospital, Kolkata.
A picnic was organised for employees of Greases & Lubricants – Kolkata on 13th February 2022.
As part of employees / workers welfare measures, the HR & Administration team at Greases &
Lubricants – Kolkata renovated the Officers’ canteen, Occupational Health Centre, HR Training Centre,
Security Quarters and Workers’ rest room.
5. Regional HR – East organised a two-day online training program titled “Success Factors for Growth” for
Officers in the Eastern Region on 17th & 18th February, 2022. The training was conducted by Mr. Rajiv
Talwar from Top Rankers Management Consultants [TRMC]. The modules covered by the trainer
included:
▪ Individual excellence for organisational effectiveness
▪ Drive to perform and take initiatives
▪ Effective Presentation and speaking skills
▪ Problem solving skills
The program was highly informative and engaging, and was well received by the participants.
An online Knowledge Sharing Session was organised by Corporate HR Department on 9th February
2022. Mr. Bhaskar Sharma, Asst. Manager [Legal Services] and Ms. Prapa Ganguly, Asst. Manager
[Legal Services] conducted the session on the topic 'Handling Central Administrative Tribunals (CATs) &
Court Cases'. The session primarily highlighted the matters which fall under the purview of CATs &
Courts, various legal provisions and practical applications with respect to general court proceedings.
The session was virtually attended by 40 personnel from HR, Corporate Communications, CSR and
Legal Services.
6. SBU: Greases & Lubricants was a tee
sponsor of Hope Cup 2022, a charity
golf tournament organized annually by
the Tollygunge Club in collaboration
with Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy
(IICP). The tournament which was held
on 25th & 26th February 2022, is pretty
popular and witnessed the participation
of significant number of golfers from
Kolkata and other cities in the Eastern
Region. It was a great platform for
branding Balmerol lubricants.
The First Sub-Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language carried out inspection of
13 Central Government offices / PSUs located at Kolkata from 19th to 23rd February, 2022 with regard
to implementation of Official Language. Accordingly, inspection of Balmer Lawrie was carried out at ITC
Royal Bengal, Kolkata on 21st February 2022. During the meeting, the progress made in progressive
usage of Official Language in our Company was examined, various issues related to Official Language
were discussed and some measures were suggested by the committee for enhancing Official Language
usage in day to day official work. After the meeting, a letter of appreciation was awarded to Balmer
Lawrie by the Convener of the committee. Our Chairman & Managing Director, Director [Service
Businesses], Senior Vice President [HR] and Senior Manager [HR & OL] along with the Eastern Region
Official Language team were present in the meeting.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE [OL] UPDATE
The quarterly meeting of the Official Language
Implementation Committee at Chennai was
organized on 27th January 2022 at Manali,
Chennai. The meeting was presided over by Mr. R
M Uthayaraja, ED [IP & Chemicals].
7. To enhance the progressive usage
of Official Language at Manali,
Chennai, a Hindi workshop was
organized for the employees on
22nd February 2022. The workshop
aimed at providing all the
necessary information and
guidance for Official Language
implementation. In all 17
employees participated in the
workshop, which was conducted by
Ms. Aruna, Hindi Officer, Chennai
Port.
A Hindi workshop was organized for employees at the Northern Region Office, Okhla, New Delhi on 25th
February 2022.
The quarterly meeting of the Official Language Implementation Committee at Industrial Packaging -
Silvassa was held in the month of February 2022.
8. A basic Electrical Safety training (language - Hindi) was conducted by DGFASLI (Ministry of Labour &
Employment), Government of India on 1st February 2022 for employees of Industrial Packaging (IP) -
Asaoti, Greases & Lubricants (G&L) - Kolkata, Container Freight Station (CFS) - Kolkata and CFS - Navi
Mumbai.
A training program on ‘Ergonomics and Workplace Safety’ was conducted by the HSE Department on
9th February 2022 at G&L - Silvassa; on 11th February at IP - Silvassa; on 12th February at IP, G&L, CFS
& Chemicals at Manali - Chennai; and on 16th February at IP - Chittoor and IP – Vadodara.
A fire mock drill (by using automatic modular type fire extinguisher) and training were organized for
employees at IP - Silvassa on 28th February, 2022.

transferred to SBU: Cold Chain as Head [Cold Chain]. He is based at Mumbai.
▪ Mr. Satya Prakash Singh, Associate Vice President [Manufacturing], Industrial Packaging - Asaoti
has been transferred to Industrial Packaging - Mumbai as Associate Vice President [Manufacturing].
▪ Mr. Subhankar Majumder, Head [Technical Services], Greases & Lubricants - Kolkata has been
transferred to Greases & Lubricants - Delhi as Regional Head [Industrial Sales]-NR.
▪ Mr. Prabir Kumar Jana, Manager [Marketing], Chemicals - Jalandhar has been transferred to
Chemicals - Kanpur as Manager [Marketing].
▪ Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Asst. Manager [SCM], Greases & Lubricants - Bhopal has been transferred to
Greases & Lubricants - Kolkata as Asst. Manager [SCM].

Mr. Kanhaiya Kumar joined Travel & Vacations, Delhi as Junior Officer
[Travel] on 1st February, 2022.
Kanhaiya belongs to Bihar. He completed his Bachelor's in Hindi (Hons) from
Lalit Narayan Mithila University. With a keen interest in the Travel trade, he
joined Balmer Lawrie as an apprentice. During his stint as an apprentice, he
gained in-depth knowledge of operations and sales in the Company. He has
considered every challenge and every task as an opportunity to learn something
new. His hobbies are reading and cooking. He wishes to give his best to Balmer
Lawrie.
Mr. Sushant Sonkar joined Travel & Vacations, Delhi as Junior Officer
[Travel] on 1st February, 2022.
Sushant belongs to Delhi. He completed his Bachelor's in Journalism and Mass
Communication from GGSIPU University and now he is pursuing Masters in the
same field. He was an apprentice in Balmer Lawrie (Vacations), Delhi. He
believes that the Company has been an educational institution for him and now
he is working to make a career in this trade. His hobbies include theatre arts
and film making. He wishes to give his best and take every challenge as an
opportunity to learn something new.
Mr. Ashish Tiwari joined Travel & Vacations, Delhi as Junior Officer
[Travel] on 1st February, 2022.
Ashish belongs to Uttar Pradesh. He completed graduation in Tourism
Management and has 7 years experience as a Tourism Professional. Earlier, he
worked for a Corporate as a Asst. Manager [MICE Operations] and now he is
excited to join Balmer Lawrie. He likes to explore new places and that's the
reason why he travels a lot with groups and individuals. Apart from travelling,
during his free time, he likes to spend time on film making and videography.

Mr. Harinder Singh joined Travel & Vacations, Delhi as Junior Officer
[Travel] on 1st February, 2022.
Harinder is 27 years old and belongs to Neemrana, Rajasthan. He was born
and brought up in Burari, North Delhi. He did his Graduation in Tourism from
Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi. He completed his Diploma in
Advance Travel & Tourism Management (2014-2015) from The Tourism
School, Delhi. He has more than 6 years of experience and prior to joining
Balmer Lawrie he worked with different companies such as Decent Indo
Tours Pvt. Ltd., Seasons & Vacations Travel Pvt. Ltd., and Royal Palm
Holidays, Delhi. He has managed all types of tour packages (handling
Operations as a Tour Executive). His hobbies include listening to music,
developing different types of tour itinerary and travelling. He finds a great
future ahead in Balmer Lawrie.
Mr. Navneet Upadhyay joined Travel & Vacations, Delhi as Junior
Officer [Travel] on 1st February, 2022.
Navneet belongs to Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his Post Graduation
from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. He has acquired a Diploma in
Tourism Management and a Diploma in the French Language, both from
Banaras Hindu University. Before joining Balmer Lawrie, he worked with
Services International, New Delhi and has 5 years of experience. His hobbies
are listening to music and travelling. He looks forward to a great stint in
Balmer Lawrie.
Mr. Abhishek Kumar Mishra joined Travel & Vacations, Delhi as Junior
Officer [Travel] on 10th February, 2022.
Abhishek belongs to Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his Post -
Graduate Diploma in Management (Travel & Tourism) from LN Welingkar
Institute of Management Development and Research, Mumbai. He completed
his B.Sc. from Avadh University, Ayodhya. Before joining Delhi office, he
worked 4 years with SBU: Travel & Vacations at Mumbai in Indian Holidays.
He was in operations handling NAAC Corporate hotel bookings, NADT Group
bookings etc. His hobbies and interests are playing cricket and online games.
Mr. Akansh Raghav joined Travel & Vacations, Delhi as Junior Officer

Akansh belongs to Gurgaon. He completed his B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel
