The circulatory system is responsible for circulating blood throughout the body inside blood vessels. The heart pumps blood from the lungs, where it receives oxygen, to all parts of the body through arteries. The blood then returns to the heart through veins, having delivered oxygen and picked up carbon dioxide from tissues. The respiratory system, made up of the nose, trachea, bronchial tubes and lungs, takes in oxygen through inhalation and releases carbon dioxide during exhalation.
