Putting Data to Work
This session explores changing data sensibilities at US post-secondary institutions with particular attention paid to how predictive analytics are changing expectations for institutional accountability and student success. Results from the Predictive Analytics Reporting Framework show that predictive modeling can identify students at risk and that linking behavioral predictions of risk with interventions to mitigate those risks at the point of need is a powerful strategy for increasing rates of student retention, academic progress and completion.

The goal of this assignment is to explore these areas at your current work site. Locate a recent accountability report regarding your school’s student academic achievement. In a 3- to 5-page paper, assess whether or not the accountability measures utilized in the report provide an accurate representation of your school site. Identify and discuss one area where the school is excelling. Identify and discuss one area where the school needs to improve. Next, identify one area that is not addressed in the report, but you feel should have been explored further (either because it demonstrates an area of success or an area that needs improvement). Morville & Rosenfeld's "Information Architecture for the World Wide Web" positioned IA as an approach to web/interface design that is deeply embedded in, and strongly informed by, the LIS discipline. To re-consider of the impact of the LIS discipline on the IA profession, this presentation (and a subsequent paper) reports the preliminary results of an analysis of syllabi of information architecture courses offered by graduate schools of Library and Information Science in the United States and Canada.

Empirical Approach to Identifying Digital Learning Innovation TrendsTanya Joosten
The focus of this effort was to illustrate trends in digital learning innovation. Digital learning innovations were to be located through a scan of the postsecondary environment through various data sources in order to identify prominent innovations that have the potential to improve student outcomes in postsecondary education. Digital learning innovations were to include technologies, such as adaptive learning and open education resources, that improve access, equity, and learning. A timeframe for the collection of relevant data was established from January 1st, 2018, to September 1st, 2019. Previous DLI award analysis was included as one data source. Other data sources included industry leaders, national organizations advancing technology and learning, prominent research centers, influential research journals (peer reviewed), popular news and media outlets, funded initiatives, key institutions, vendors or products of interest, and other key publications from national organizations or efforts to see what themes and topics are relevant in the current landscape. Over a dozen data sources were reviewed. Documents, including articles, reports, web content, and more) were pulled directly from database and organizations’ sites when possible. Informal interviews were conducted with various academic leaders in the field at key organizations. Articles were summarized noting key themes and findings until themes were saturated, at which point key themes were noted but articles were not summarized. Articles were saved and compiled on a server for additional review or verification. In sum, over 400 articles were reviewed.

The changes our society is facing contain a training-related
challenge that is crucial for their success. Tomorrow’s
employees will be today’s employees, but in the interim they
will need to have taken much better control of their career—
their employability is at stake.
Beyond their legal obligations, organizations are vital to this
process and are seeking new formats that enable them to
fulfill this duty. We aspire to design new corporate university
models because they are an important a driver of skill and job
development.
These efforts will be realized on April 7 in Paris during the event
U-Spring: Reimagining the Corporate University. With this in
mind, BPI group surveyed heads of corporate universities on
their models and development outlooks.
In his public lecture, Christian Timmerer provides insights into the fascinating history of video streaming, starting from its humble beginnings before YouTube to the groundbreaking technologies that now dominate platforms like Netflix and ORF ON. Timmerer also presents provocative contributions of his own that have significantly influenced the industry. He concludes by looking at future challenges and invites the audience to join in a discussion.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

How many of you read blogs written by eLearning and project management professionals?
How many of you write your own blogs or contribute to professional blogs?
Aggregating, filtering, and monitoring the constant flow of information posted on blogs can be a daunting endeavor.
Importance of weeding through everything out there and finding the information that you need, that will inform your practice, be helpful to you in some way.
Blogging is becoming more popular, more accepted…. But not regulated or peer reviewed in any way, so some curation is necessary on the reader’s part.
How we got here – one of us currently blogging about instructional design and technology and one of us contemplating a blog – looking for a niche….. And of course, we are constantly sending each other links of blogs/blog posts we find interesting. Decided it would be interesting to make a more organized effort and so documented this effort.
Created search terms that we felt relevant to our fields and interests.
Combined the search terms you see here, used Google, and filled in a spreadsheet with details about the blogs (based on definition in paper) came up on first page of search results
Now – we realize that search engine results, analytics, and algorithms are another whole presentation! But needed to start somewhere.
Also – we did this in March of this year, so the search now might provide different results.
We independently filled out a spreadsheet with our search results – using these column headers.
Then combined our spreadhseets and culled out the unique blogs
Our focus on reporting for this paper included:
Individual/Business/school – who ‘sponsors’ the blogs?
Target Audience – who are they writing for?
Topic(s) covered – what are they writing about?
Just a couple of the blogs we found in this process and share here.

What we found here is just a snapshot of what was up and running, with the limitations we placed, over a couple of days in March 2010…. New blogs appear on the scene (and leave the scene) every day.
As we (Amy and MV) continue our quest as bloggers – looking for niche, staying current, joining the global conversation as bloggers…. We want to continue to organize our assessment and filtering of what is out there….
