At Global Architecture Week 2015, we covered ‘Digital Currencies and Cash’ and their relevance to Tax and Welfare Authorities, concluding with the message: “It’s not about Bitcoin, it’s about the Blockchain”. Blockchain technology has the potential to enable a new mutually trusted, transparent way of sharing and transacting. In the UK Public Sector, Sir Mark Walport’s report Distributed Ledger Technology: beyond blockchain encouraged Government to assess its early use and potential. Meanwhile in the private sector, Blockchain FinTech excitement among start-ups and venture capitalists remained strong for a technology promised to be “like a whole new internet for value exchange”. But where are the real world use cases today? What is it that makes a use case more likely to succeed? In this talk, we will share and discuss a number of Capgemini examples.

The Global Crypto Classification Standard by 21Shares & CoinGeckoCoinGecko
We are pleased to release the Global Crypto Classification Standard (GCCS) jointly developed by 21Shares and CoinGecko, which serves as an industry taxonomy and uniformed way to categorize cryptoassets.
Crypto, with its unfamiliar technology stack and sheer number and variety of projects and tokens, terminology and jargon, may be daunting and overwhelming to industry newcomers. The GCCS provides a clear framework to classify various projects and cryptoassets within the space, so that users and investors can easily identify what a project does, and where they sit as part of the larger crypto stack.

Quant trading with artificial intelligenceRoger Lee, CFA
Foster discussion on the practical approach of applying artificial intelligence (AI) in quant trading and avoiding the common pitfalls and the opportunities and future of quant trading.
Financial trading is the space in which people have to make decisions under uncertain uncertainty and requires decisions to be explained. However, most AI algorithm (e.g. neural network) are black-box and serves well under only constrained environment (e.g. Go / Atari). Therefore, it is important to gather domain knowledge such that AI (e.g. PGM) could have more cognitive ability to provide a white-box explanation for their trading decisions.
If AI could provide a clearer visibility on the reality & present, it can assist human to provide faster, more-accurate and more-informed investment decisions. With a better understanding of the world, we can allocate resources more efficiently and ultimately create a better world to live.

Blockchain IoT Workshop for the Aviation Planning ConferenceJim Gitney
On August 19,2018, Jim Gitney, Group50's CEO, presented a Blockchain and IoT workshop to 60+ executives from the Aviation Industry and discussed current and future applications for that industry.
Blockchain technology has leapt to prominence in the past year, notably with the establishment of the open source Hyperledger Project hosted by the Linux Foundation. This talk examines Blockchain's impact on financial services and asset management. Using Cloudsoft Application Management Platform (AMP), we show how we can rapidly deploy and manage a Hyperledger Fabric running on a Bluemix Private Cloud across San Jose, London, and Singapore, creating a geographically distributed Blockchain network. Finally we drill down on the Apache Brooklyn blueprint that models this fabric and makes it possible.

Blockchain is slowly disrupting every sector and the pace at which it is permeating every industry. Well, in the last decade if we have to talk about the sectors which have gained popularity, then digital marketing and Blockchain are two things which reign supreme.
This year, the focus goes beyond technology to mining business insights around how cloud enables strategic industry trends such as Open and Virtual Banking and Insurance, Security and Compliance, Data Analytics and AI/ ML, FinTech and RegTech, Surveillance and more through sharing of best practices and use cases. In sessions led by customers, partners, industry leaders and AWS subject matter experts, you’ll learn how AWS helps financial institutions to focus on the innovation and outcomes that truly drive business forward. Business stakeholders, market makers, and technology owners will all learn something new, valuable and actionable.
Blockchain is a technology for a new generation of transactional applications that establishes trust,
accountability and transparency while streamlining processes in business networks. Think of it as
an operating system for interactions between participants in a business network. It has the potential
to vastly reduce the cost and complexity of getting things done
Alchemy is a blockchain infrastructure company that provides developers with tools to build and scale decentralized applications (dApps) on the Ethereum network. The platform is designed to simplify the development process by providing a suite of developer-focused tools and services.
The Alchemy platform offers several key features that make it an attractive option for developers. One of the main features is its robust API, which provides developers with access to Ethereum's full node infrastructure. This means that developers can easily interact with the Ethereum network without having to set up and maintain their own nodes.
Another key feature of the Alchemy platform is its developer dashboard. The dashboard provides developers with real-time insights into the performance of their dApps, including metrics like transaction volume, gas usage, and user adoption. This allows developers to quickly identify and address any performance issues and optimize their dApps for maximum efficiency.
In addition to its API and developer dashboard, the Alchemy platform also offers a range of other tools and services designed to make building and scaling dApps as easy as possible. These include a smart contract debugger, a gas price oracle, and an Ethereum address book.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Alchemy platform is its scalability. Alchemy's infrastructure is designed to support millions of users and transactions, making it ideal for building large-scale dApps. The platform also uses a range of optimization techniques, such as transaction batching and smart caching, to ensure that dApps can handle high volumes of traffic without slowing down.
Overall, Alchemy is a powerful and versatile platform that offers a range of developer-focused tools and services for building and scaling dApps on the Ethereum network. Whether you're a seasoned Ethereum developer or just getting started with Web3 development, Alchemy is definitely worth checking out.
Gluecon 2016 Keynote: Deploying and Managing Blockchain ApplicationsDuncan Johnston-Watt
Blockchain technology has exploded on the business scene in the last few months notably with the establishment of the Hyperledger Project hosted by the Linux Foundation. We look at the background to this project; some of the challenges to its mainstream adoption; then wrap up with a demo deploying and managing a Hyperledger Fabric cluster using Apache Brooklyn.
Blockchain is a technology that makes it possible to build applications where multiple parties can record transactions without the need for a trusted, central authority to ensure that transactions are verified and secure. In this session, you will learn about the fundamental concept of Blockchain technology and how AWS gives you access to flexible and cost-effective resources to quickly deploy and experiment with blockchain networks, including Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric, in minutes, and pay only for what you use.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

15. Exploring new technologies : The Blockchain
Like other new technologies , exploring and experimentations of Blockchain have to
be done but with the following principles:
Realistic: Blockchain needs to answer to a precise business need. Let’s not push
the Blockchain just for the Blockchain
Tailor-made : several protocols exits and let’s select the appropriate one to have a
tailor-made solution
Multidimensional approach : Blockchain cannot only look at technical issues but
we also need to take into account legal, organizational, and change management
16. Blockchain Key Features well suited to aviation
Supply Chain
Resilience
Integrity
TraceabilityDisintermediation
17. Exploring new technologies : The Blockchain
As an example, Blockchain is being evaluated on the following use case:
20. Distributed Ledger (Blockchain) Systems
Cryptographically Authentic
Uses tried and true public/ private signature
technology. Blockchain applies this technology to
create transactions that are impervious to fraud
and establishes a shared truth.
Shared
Blockchain’s value is directly linked to the number of
organizations or companies that participate in them.
There is huge value for even the fiercest of
competitors to participate with each other in these
shared database implementations.
Distributed
There are many replicas of the Blockchain
database. In fact, the more replicas there are, the
more authentic it becomes.
Ledger
The database is a read/write-once database so it
is an immutable record of every transaction that
occurs.
