Visually impaired people face many problems in their day to day lives. Among them, outdoor navigation is
one of the major concerns. The existing solutions based on Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) and Global
Positioning System (GPS) track ZigBee units or RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags fixed on the
navigation system. The issues pertaining to these solutions are as follows: (1) It is suitable only when the
visually impaired person is commuting in a familiar environment; (2) The device provides only a one way
communication; (3) Most of these instruments are heavy and sometimes costly. Preferable solution would
be to make a system which is easy to carry and cheap.
The objective of this paper is to break down the technological barriers, and to propose a system by
developing an Android App which would help a visually impaired person while traveling via the public
transport system like Bus. The proposed system uses an inbuilt feature of smart phone such as GPS
location tracker to track the location of the user and Text to Speech converter. The system also integrates
Google Speech to Text converter for capturing the voice input and converts them to text. This system
recommends the requirement of installing a GPS module in buses for real time tracking. With minor
modification, this App can also help older people for independent navigation.

commuting in buses easier and richer.
Everyday, thousands of people use public bus transport systems in the towns and cities
of India. And everyday, the commute gets a little more tiresome, the buses a little more
crowded and a sense of general well being in the commuters, a little more faded.
We board buses not knowing if we would get a place to sit at any point on the long journey
home, or to work, or on our way to see our loved ones.
CommutEaze aims to help the everyday commuters who battle all odds in order to
transverse distances, great or small, to their destinations. This app will provide commuters
and transport providers with details of bus vacancies and track their positions en route in
real time.

Public transport service is one of the most preferred
modes of transportation in today’s smart cities. People prefer
public transport mainly for the cost benefit reasons. The
problems faced by the people while using the public transport
can be overcome by the technology such as Internet of Things
(IOT). In this paper, we present how this technology can be
applied to eliminate the problems faced by the passengers of the
public bus transport service. The Internet of Things technology is
used to provide the passengers waiting at the bus stop with real
time information of the arriving buses. Information such as
arrival time, crowd density and traffic information of the
arriving buses are predetermined and provided to the passengers
waiting at the bus stop. The display boards fitted at the bus stops
provide the real time bus navigation information to the waiting
passengers. This Smart Bus Navigation system enables the
passengers to make smart decisions regarding their bus journey.
This system reduces the anxiety and the waiting time of the
passenger’s at the bus stop. The smart bus navigation system
creates a positive impact and increases the number of people who
prefer to use the public mode of transportation.
For college going students, employees of a company or for a common man, bus is the most comprehensive and affordable mode of transport. The use of bus for transport reduces private vehicle usage and thus reduces fuel consumption. It also curbs traffic congestion. The user usually wants to know the accurate arrival time of the bus. Long time waiting at the bus stops discourage the use of buses. Also many unpredictable factors delay the schedule of a bus like harsh weather situation, traffic conditions etc. Towards this aim of reducing this problem, we are proposing a project which will assist the bus travellers in predicting bus timings. The system described uses DriverSideApp, ClientSideApp and a server.
In this project, we propose an innovative method for predicting the bus information. No specific device is required for this purpose. Our sole objective is to build a application that will help student to access the current location of the bus. Moving forward our application focus on to providing them more convenience with bus schedules, bus location information so that they may not get delayed. . Further, the recent advent and popularity of Android technology motivates us to create an Android application for the same.
Location-aware and mapping applications have gone from a desirable feature to an essential
part of any smart phone. Whether a user is checking into a social network, looking for a
pharmacy in the middle of the night, or located in somewhere and needs help, the key is always
the same: location.
In this project, an Android mapping application is developed. The application is able to display
the map of the whole world while online or, display a pre-downloaded map while offline, track
the user’s location, display a compass to determine north, send the user’s location to others in
case of emergency using SMS, receive and interpret received location from the message, display
it on the map, and notify the user by the reception of the location.
The application was developed using agile methodology. It, met its objectives and successfully
passed 91% of the final system test, recording that some limitations were discovered, the
application needs further testing and can be implemented for particular company or university
using their own maps or editing the maps in OSM (open street maps).

A NOVEL AND COST EFFECTIVE APPROACH TO PUBLIC VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEMijujournal
There are lots of efforts being made by public transport corporations to improve public vehicle occupancy
by requesting the public to use public transport over other modes of transportation. It can be noted that if
the passenger knows with high confidence that the bus is going to come, he/she will definitely wait rather
than opting for other modes of transport. Efficient information can therefore help the users to choose faster
and more easier connections which saves their time. Trends in wireless technology like Global System for
Mobile communication (GSM) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) have resulted in easier and
faster communication. This paper presents a vehicle tracking system by integrating both of the above
mentioned technologies. The central server uses geographic information system (GIS) to track vehicles to
display the position information on the electronic map. This paper suggests a new cost-effective way for
tracking a vehicle in public transport domain and compares proposed technique to some of the methods
advised previously for tracking public vehicles.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ROUTING PROTOCOLS IN MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKSijcax
A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes that want to communicate without any
pre-determined infrastructure and fixed organization of available links. Each node in MANET operates as
a router, forwarding information packets for other mobile nodes. There are many routing protocols that
possess different performance levels in different scenarios. The main task is to evaluate the existing routing
protocols and finding by comparing them the best one. In this article we compare AODV, DSR, DSDV,
OLSR and DYMO routing protocols in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) to specify the best operational
conditions for each MANETs protocol. We study these five MANETs routing protocols by different
simulations in NS-2 simulator. We describe that pause time parameter affect their performance. This
performance analysis is measured in terms of Packet Delivery Ratio, Average End-to-End Delay,
Normalized Routing Load and Average Throughput.

A Multi Criteria Decision Making Based Approach for Semantic Image Annotation ijcax
Automatic image annotation has emerged as an important research topic due to its potential application on
both image understanding and web image search. This paper presents a model, which integrates visual
topics and regional contexts to automatic image annotation. Regional contexts model the relationship
between the regions, while visual topics provide the global distribution of topics over an image. Previous
image annotation methods neglected the relationship between the regions in an image, while these regions
are exactly explanation of the image semantics, therefore considering the relationship between them are
helpful to annotate the images. Regional contexts and visual topics are learned by PLSA (Probability
Latent Semantic Analysis) from the training data. The proposed model incorporates these two types of
information by MCDM (Multi Criteria Decision Making) approach based on WSM (Weighted Sum
Method). Experiments conducted on the 5k Corel dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed
model.
On Fuzzy Soft Multi Set and Its Application in Information Systems ijcax
Research on information and communication technologies have been developed rapidly since it can be
applied easily to several areas like computer science, medical science, economics, environments,
engineering, among other. Applications of soft set theory, especially in information systems have been
found paramount importance. Recently, Mukherjee and Das defined some new operations in fuzzy soft
multi set theory and show that the De-Morgan’s type of results hold in fuzzy soft multi set theory with
respect to these newly defined operations. In this paper, we extend their work and study some more basic
properties of their defined operations. Also, we define some basic supporting tools in information system
also application of fuzzy soft multi sets in information system are presented and discussed. Here we define
the notion of fuzzy multi-valued information system in fuzzy soft multi set theory and show that every fuzzy
soft multi set is a fuzzy multi valued information system.
Web is a collection of inter-related files on one or more web servers while web mining means extracting
valuable information from web databases. Web mining is one of the data mining domains where data
mining techniques are used for extracting information from the web servers. The web data includes web
pages, web links, objects on the web and web logs. Web mining is used to understand the customer
behaviour, evaluate a particular website based on the information which is stored in web log files. Web
mining is evaluated by using data mining techniques, namely classification, clustering, and association
rules. It has some beneficial areas or applications such as Electronic commerce, E-learning, Egovernment, E-policies, E-democracy, Electronic business, security, crime investigation and digital library.
Retrieving the required web page from the web efficiently and effectively becomes a challenging task
because web is made up of unstructured data, which delivers the large amount of information and increase
the complexity of dealing information from different web service providers. The collection of information
becomes very hard to find, extract, filter or evaluate the relevant information for the users. In this paper,
we have studied the basic concepts of web mining, classification, processes and issues. In addition to this,
this paper also analyzed the web mining research challenges.

INTELLIGENT AGENT FOR PUBLICATION AND SUBSCRIPTION PATTERN ANALYSIS OF NEWS W...ijcax
The rapid growth of Internet has revolutionized online news reporting. Many users tend to use online news
websites to obtain news information. When considering Sri Lanka, there are numerous news websites,
which are subscribed on a daily basis. With the rise in this number of news websites, the Sri Lankan
authorities of media face the issue of lacking a proper methodology or a tool which is capable of tracking
and regulating publications made by different disseminators of news.
This paper proposes a News Agent toolbox which periodically extracts news articles and associated
comments with the aid of a concept called Mapping Rules; to classify them into Personalized Categories
defined in terms of keywords based Category Profiles. The proposed tool also analyzes comments made by
the readers with the aid of simple statistical techniques to discover the most popular news articles and
fluctuations in popularity of news stories.
ADVANCED E-VOTING APPLICATION USING ANDROID PLATFORMijcax
The advancement in the mobile devices, wireless and web technologies given rise to the new application
that will make the voting process very easy and efficient. The E-voting promises the possibility of
convenient, easy and safe way to capture and count the votes in an election[1]. This research project
provides the specification and requirements for E-Voting using an Android platform. The e-voting means
the voting process in election by using electronic device. The android platform is used to develop an evoting application. At first, an introduction about the system is presented. Sections II and III describe all
the concepts (survey, design and implementation) that would be used in this work. Finally, the proposed evoting system will be presented. This technology helps the user to cast the vote without visiting the polling
booth. The application follows proper authentication measures in order to avoid fraud voters using the
system. Once the voting session is completed the results can be available within a fraction of seconds. All
the candidates vote count is encrypted and stored in the database in order to avoid any attacks and
disclosure of results by third person other than the administrator. Once the session is completed the admin
can decrypt the vote count and publish results and can complete the voting process.
The design of silicon chips in every semiconductor industry involves the testing of these chips with other
components on the board. The platform developed acts as power on vehicle for the silicon chips. This
Printed Circuit Board design that serves as a validation platform is foundational to the semiconductor
industry.
The manual/repetitive design activities that accompany the development of this board must be minimized to
achieve high quality, improve design efficiency, and eliminate human-errors. One of the time consuming
tasks in the board design is the Trace Length matching. The paper aims to reduce the length matching time
by automating it using SKILL scripts.

IMPACT OF APPLYING INTERNATIONAL QUALITY STANDARDS ON MEDICAL EQUIPMENT IN SA...ijcax
With the great development that, modern medical technology is witnessing today, medical devices and
equipment have become a basic pillar of any healthcare system in the world and cannot be dispensed with,
so we find competition between the major companies that manufacture medical devices and equipment
resulting in a huge variety of complex modern medical technologies. These medical devices and equipment
require high accuracy in manufacturing and packaging in addition to operation, maintenance, and followup, because any error in any of the previous stages will have bad consequences for the patients and the
health system, there are many accidents that have led to some deaths. Therefore, we find that many medical
device producers and medical companies in addition to health service providers seek to find systems and
protocols to reduce accidents resulting from medical devices. As a result, many systems have recently
appeared that seek to protect from the dangers of medical devices and equipment. This research aims to
conduct a study of the effects of international standards on the safety of medical devices and equipment
and reduce their risks. By counting the international standards in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
that are applied by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, making questionnaires, and distributing them to
health service providers and regulatory bodies for medical devices and equipment, considering the data,
these data will be analysed and evaluated the effectiveness of quality systems and standards in maintaining
Effectiveness and quality of medical devices and equipment. The study will include governmental and
private health services sectors.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

ABSTRACT

1. INTRODUCTION
We use buses for traveling from one place to another, but it would be difficult to locate the
correct bus if we are commuting in an unfamiliar environment. Now, imagine the case of a
visually impaired person. The task of finding a way in such an environment for an unassisted
person with visual impairment becomes nearly impossible. Navigation tends to be more difficult
because the environment is so homogeneous. This problem of outdoor navigation remains largely
unsolved.
So, the objective of the paper is to propose a system and develop a Mobile App, which could
help a blind or visually impaired person to navigate in outdoor areas via public transport systems
independently. This App would act as a medium between the visually impaired and the society.
The App first tracks the location of the user via GPS and accept their destination via Google
Speech to Text converter. Based on the extracted destination, it retrieves the buses and guides the
user. In case of danger or emergency, the App sends an auto-message to the emergency contact
number, mentioning the current location of the user.
The paper is organized into five sections. Section 1 covers, the motivation behind selecting the
topic and developing such a Mobile App. Section 2 summarizes the literature review carried out
to understand the existing systems in the domain. Section 3 elaborates the architectural details of
the developed App with its working in detail. Section 4 illustrates the implementation details with

the snapshots of the Mobile App. Section 5 concludes the paper by briefing the findings of the
study and highlights the future scope.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
Before diving deep into the details of the developed App, it is imperative to brief the details of the
existing solution available. In papers [1,2,3], GPS (Global Positioning System) based voice alert
and navigation system is used to track the current location of the blind and to give alerts if it was
his destination or when they come across with an obstacle. In papers [4,5], WSN (Wireless
Sensor Networks) are used as a communication medium between the ZigBee units installed on
the bus and that present on the navigation system used by blind person.
In short, to use these solutions a blind person needs to carry a separate hardware device which
may be heavy or costly. So, the proposal was to come up with a software solution which could
break the technological barriers.
3. PROPOSED SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
This section elaborates the architectural details of the developed system and Figure1 depicts the
overall working of the system. The modules in the system can be divided into two categories; (1)
Client side modules and (2) Server side modules along with GPS (Global Positioning System).

3.1. Client side Modules
The working of the two modules associated with the Client side are : (1) User Module: It is
installed on the smart phone of the user. When this module is activated, it automatically tracks the
location of the user via GPS Locator, every 3 seconds. This information is then transferred to the
Server along with the destination uttered to the module via Google Speech to Text converter. (2)
Bus Module: This module tracks the location of the bus and updates the Server, every 3 seconds
as latitude and longitude.
3.2. Server Side Module
Admin module, the Server side module which governs the bus database and the updates it. This
module answers the query posted from the client modules which are connected in the network.
3.3. Global Positioning System (GPS)
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space based radio navigation system that provides
reliable positioning, navigation, and timing services to civilian users on a continuous worldwide
basis. The GPS receiver will provide location and time. It receives the latitude and longitude
values from the satellite.
The overall working of the system can be illustrated as follows:
(1) Initialize the Server module, i.e, the Admin module.
(2) If a User module is instantiated from any of the user mobiles, this module sends a query
to the server module with the current location of the user and the destination.
(3) In response this Server module, retrieves the details of the buses towards the destination
and track their current location from the installed Bus module. The best suitable bus in
real-time is, then recommended to the user.
(4) The user module then alerts the user regarding the bus arrival time.
4. IMPLEMENTATION DETAILS
This section briefs the implementation details involved while developing Blind-Aid App. Sub-
section 3.1, describes the actual methodology used with respect to all the modules and sub-section

4.1. Methodology used
The system was developed using a GPS enabled smart phone. Android provides a more scalable
platform than any other mobile OS and is more user friendly, hence application was built using
Android [6] framework. A server with a database is needed to maintain the user details, all the
bus requests and also for adding and deleting buses. Hence, server was hosted on
www.000webhost.com [7] with a MySQL database and PHP connectivity.
4.2. Snapshots
Figure 2(a) depicts the Home Screen of the Blind-Aid App. The user opens this App by tapping
on the Blind-Aid App icon. Then the user is presented with four options. The four options are; (1)
Bus Number; (2) Bus Track; (3) Auto-messaging and (4) About Us.

The user selects Bus Number option, when he/she wants to get details about a bus from the
current location to the required destination. After selecting this option, the user is prompted with
the screen shown in Figure 3(a). When the user taps on this screen, the GPS location of the user
is tracked and displayed as shown in Figure 3(b). This step is required to track the source of user
for further processing. Next step is to accept the destination from user.
Figure. 4(a), depicts the UI for inputting the destination through voice command. Once the source
in the previous step is tracked and desired destination is converted to text, the User module
forwards a query to the Admin module to track the bus details. Figure. 4(b) depicts the bus details
retrieved from the database.

For tracking the current location of the Bus, the user utters the Bus Number in the UI shown in
Figure 6(a). Once user taps on the screen shown in Figure 6(a), the GPS address of Bus location
is retrieved by the Server after interacting with GPS module of the concerned Bus. The resulting
screen is shown in the Figure 6(b).
The Auto-messaging module in this App, is an additional feature which can be used for sending
message to emergency contacts, in case the user come across with an accident or when he/she is
lost in the strange environment. This message includes the current location of user for easy
tracking. Figure 7(a) shows the screen that appears, when user selects Auto-Messaging option,
from the Home Screen. The location details of the user is retrieved from the GPS module and a
message is automatically generated as shown in Figure 7(a). Then, the user is prompted to enter
the emergency phone number as shown in Figure 7(b). Voice input is given by the user via
Google Speech to Text converter.

provides a voice output for the text.
5. CONCLUSION
The Android App named, Blind-Aid has been developed and this App satisfies all proposed
requirements. The App is highly scalable and user friendly. Like any system, the App also has
some pros and cons.
8. International Journal of Computer-Aided Technologies (IJCAx) Vol.2, No.4, October 2015
20
The pros of the developed App can be enumerated as follows: (1) Quick access to the GPS
location of the bus; (2) The user can travel independently; (3) Avoids the requirement to carry a
separate device for navigation; (4) Applicable even in an unfamiliar environment; (5) Auto-
Messaging to track, when the user is in danger; (6) App can be easily extended to a general
Navigation App; (7) App can be distributed freely, as it just integrates the inbuilt features of
Android App with GPS; (8) App can be easily installed on all Android mobiles.
Now coming to some limitations of the App: (1) App is purely designed for the public Bus
transport system; (2) User Training is required, in order to use the App; (3) Uninterrupted internet
connection is required for voice recognition and data fetching; (4) Recommends a GPS module to
be installed on all buses.
The App can further extended as follows: (1) Notify the user about current status of the bus, i.e,
whether it is crowded or not. This will help the visually impaired person to decide whether to
catch the current bus or wait for another; (2) Notify all the intermediate stops between the source
and destination during the journey; (3) Modify the App for elderly people, physically challenged
or other normal users; (4) Extend the App for other transport systems (e.g. Train), in near future.
