[From World Usability Day in São Paulo, November 2011]
Most of us are familiar with the concept of sonic branding: the intentional use of music, sound, voice and silence to build relationships between people and brands.
How can we apply the principles of sonic branding for the greater good—in the spaces we create, the products we design and the interactions we enable?
We'll take a curious, closer look at some sonic-branding fundamentals and consider real-world inspirations for what it takes to engage the hearts, minds and behaviors of anyone with ears.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

Composing makes this mission indeed a reality through creating during those six months an

Recently, Cinematic Composing made public their powerful manifesto of what it means to be a
Cinematic Composer, written by their CEO Marc Jovani. A rather compelling and inspiring letter
to all composers who had joined at some point to pursue their calling through orchestral music
composition:
From Marc Jovani:
This is a manifesto of what it means to be a Cinematic Composer…
- I believe in serving. Not selling.
- I believe in empowering. Not just teaching.
- I believe in creating a community of people who help and encourage each other. Not in
competition.
- I believe in respect. Not in hate.
I believe in growth, constant learning, and achieving your goals.
And I know it's hard!
- I know that it's easier to complain than to take action.
- I know it's easier to be lazy than to get up and do what you must do.
- I know it's easier to put up excuses than to take responsibility.
But I genuinely believe in human potential.
I believe in unity.
I believe in us artists.
I believe we are magnificent!
I know our chosen path is complex, lonely, and challenging!
How many times have you had blank page syndrome and been unable to overcome writer's
block? Or are you facing technical problems, your gear needing to be fixed, or your libraries not
5. sounding the way you want? Or are you overwhelmed because someone else's music sounds
much better than yours?
That's why we're putting so much effort into creating this community.
That's why we're doing everything in our hands to provide you with the resources you need to
succeed.
There's a quote that says:
"Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers, and thinkers, but most of all,
surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don't see it
yourself."
–Edmund Lee
This is the community we're trying to create here. A society that will lift you when you're down. A
group of people going in the same direction and want to help each other.
Cinematic Composing is the place for:
The ones who stay up all night to find the perfect melody, sound, and performance. The ones
willing to do whatever it takes to go beyond extraordinary. The ones that spend a lifetime
crafting their sound and developing their unique voice. The ones that face procrastination every
day and feel bad about it, but then they come up with genius ideas at the last minute. The ones
that go above and beyond when they say YES to a project even when it doesn't make sense,
and it's not because they have to; it's because they love it and choose to make their most
incredible creation every single time.
We are the ones who follow our heart and intuition. The ones who don't stick to "something
safe" find comfort in the unknown. The ones who stay hungry. The ones that keep going even
when we can't pay the bills. Even when it seems people don't care about what we do. The ones
who have something to say, to express, to imagine.
We know our purpose in life. We know why we're here and get up from bed every morning.
We know music changes everything. We know that composers can express feelings and
emotions through music. And these emotions have a profound effect on human existence.
Music elevates the human race. We understand that the right music can inspire and motivate,
empower, move people, get them excited, make them sad or happy, elevate a moment, and
bring people together.
It doesn't matter if it's in a big or a small way; music can change the world.
6. People can understand us or criticize us. They can wish us to blossom or to be bound by the
restrictions of society. But what they can't do is silence us. Because we're crazy enough to
believe that we can change things, and those who believe are the ones who do.
That's why Cinematic Composing exists. This is why we do the things we do.
Cinematic Composing is where we can express our inner feelings through our works without
bounds. This is a place for the limitless expression of freedom. This is where titles and
hierarchies disappear and we're only left with what we love: our passion to create. Our drive to
re-imagine.
People may comment I mean things sometimes, but I'll continue to communicate our message
and find the right people who want to be in this together. I believe in unity. Together, we can
achieve something more significant.
I believe in greatness. I know you're able to achieve amazing things.
But it would help if you took action. You need to take the first step.
We are here to serve you either with Momentum if you need support and guidance to reach your
composing goals faster or with the best free, high-quality, self-contained content that will help
you develop your skills as a composer, even if you're a complete beginner.
Either with one option or the other, we're committed to seeing you succeed and give you our
best.
But everything stays the same if you commit.
And yes, you'll go through pain at times. But it is what it takes. There's no learning,
transformation, growth… without struggle.
Lean in. Trust the process.
This is a community of Doers. Go-getters. Achievers. And Unapologetic action-takers!
We want to be surrounded by people that go all in!
People who come from nothing but with big dreams. People who wanna grow while helping
each other.
If you genuinely want to learn. If you truly want to improve your composing skills. If you
genuinely want to grow…
Don't complain. Save time looking for shortcuts. Marry the journey and discomfort, and do the
work!
7. This is who we are.
Cinematic Composing is a group of fighters. This is the 1% crazy who decided to act towards
their dreams even though others said it was foolish.
Are you in?
I'M A COMPOSER
I WRITE GREAT MUSIC
I GO BEYOND EXTRAORDINARY
I'M IN CONSTANT SEARCH OF MY UNIQUE VOICE

I'M CONFIDENT

With gratitude,
Cinematic Composing CEO and film composer Marc Jovani
About Marc Jovani
Marc Jovani has been working at the highest level of film for nearly ten years, providing music
for many major studios such as Lionsgate, Syfy, FOX, and most recently, NETFLIX. He has also
composed music for television shows and movies distributed on leading, nationally broadcasted
television channels, including Lifetime (USA), TF1 (France), the Hallmark Channel (USA),
Canale 5 (Italy), Antena 3 (Spain), HBO (USA) and more. Having received international
recognition for numerous prestigious productions, Marc's desire to work on quality projects
surpasses his desire to create the most engaging scores.
By composing stylistically appropriate music across a wide range of genres, Marc's ability to
enhance the audience's experience makes him unique. Supporting the narrative and serving the
story are always the primary objectives when it comes to his compositional approach. Marc's
ability to elevate onscreen drama through his well-defined musical voice is what makes his
contribution so valuable.
His scores have been recorded with some of the best orchestras and have been conducted by
the composer himself in renowned studios such as the historic Eastwood Scoring Stage at
Warner Bros studios in Burbank, The Eastwood Scoring Stage in Hollywood, The Bridge
8. Recording in Glendale, and the Village Studios in Los Angeles, among others. In addition to
conventional musical composition, Marc specializes in contemporary hybrid scores. Marc
creates a unique and identifiable sonic identity for every project by combining modern electronic
elements with the now standard orchestral pallet.
The quality of the productions mentioned above is illustrated by the national and international
accolades they have received, as well as their selection for exhibition at numerous widely
attended and high-profile international film festivals.
As an entrepreneur, Marc Jovani is the co-founder and CEO of Cinematic Composing, a
prestigious online film music school offering high-quality self-contained courses and an
exclusive 6-month online film scoring program called Momentum. The core mission of Cinematic
Composing is to transform lives by guiding those with a passion for music to embrace their
calling, bringing joy and fulfillment through the power of orchestral composition and film scoring.
So far, more than 20,000 composers have taken courses in Cinematic Composing.
