La pedrera
Antoni Gaudí was a modernist Catalan architect who has been recognized
internationally as one of the most relevant geniuses of his discipline. His first
works were influenced by various styles, until he reached the explosion of
modernism in which he managed to implant his
own style. He transformed the old mosaic
into trencadís which means “broken into small pieces”, turned into a new
technique.
The most famous Gaudí building around the world,
without a doubt is the Sagrada Familia.
Sagrada familia
Miró
Joan Miró i Ferrà was a Spanish painter, sculptor, engraver and ceramist,
considered one of the greatest representatives of Surrealism. In
his work he reflected his interest in the subconscious, in the
"infantile" and in the culture and traditions of
Catalonia. Although he is associated to abstract art due to
his mature style of stylized and imaginary forms, in his
youth he began in figuration, with strong fauvist, cubist and
expressionist influences
Picasso
He lived here in Barcelona for some years. His name was Pablo Ruiz Picasso,
better known as Picasso, his second surname.
Picasso worked in several artistic movements, but he is most recognized for being
a great painter. He went through three stages in his time of being a painter: the
blue era, the pink era and cubism.
Some of his most famous paintings are; The Guernica,
the Ladies of Avignon and Self-portrait
Dalí
His birth name was Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech. He was a Spanish painter,
sculptor, engraver, scenographer and writer of the 20th century. He is considered one of the
greatest representatives of Surrealism. He died in 1989. Here in Spain we have three
museums dedicated to Dali :
