Compositions of the mind
5th Primary School of Florina “Theodoros Kastanos”
 Sue Williams is a prominent international artist
with a recognized body of work and an exhibition
history of both solo and group shows on five
continents.
Sue still lives, works and teaches in Cardiff. She is also
Professor of Fine Art in Swansea College of Art,
University of Wales Trinity Saint David and is one of
Wales’ leading contemporary female artists.
She was born in Cornwall in 1956.
With her solid background in Fine Art, Williams
combines her skilful drawings with mixed-media on a
bold scale
Fabric, photography, text and graffiti are mashed
into strong, confrontational paintings.
Mixing sexuality, lust, jealousy and feminist
ideology
Sue Williams
Her autoethnographic practice, whether drawing or text,
articulates the complexities of human relationships in a
contemporary cultural context – whether visual or
textual she demonstrates a vulnerability which
invariably elicits an effective response.
Williams continues to challenge and
explore new concepts and multi-disciplinary
art forms offering a direct response to the
complex world of human frailty, drawing the
viewer into a world of provocative sexual and
emotional politics.
The children are informed about the artist:
biography,
style,
inspiration,
messages
Then, they looked at her paintings and studied them.
The children inspired and painted,
following the color composition and
shape of the artist in order to perceive
and understand her better.
The children are received time to work on their imagination and
creativity to think about what they might could present.
 So, separated in small teams of 3 to 4 children decided to carry out
their tasks.
They worked with a mix art forms of decoupage, collage and acrylic
paints.
As materials they used rice papers, table napkins and stuck them on
canvas or wood surfaces.
 At the end, they fixed their final artworks with mount spray.
…they gave name in to their creativity and energy
"See me... through my eyes"
A step before to finalize their art pieces…
Their work actually are compositions of the mind. Pieces
of imagination that redefine the central form, created
their own space, through their thoughts, wills, secrets -
mixed in space and time - compose and transform the
desire of themselves (of their inner and outer world).
Finally, the art pieces created following the
concept of how they want to be and how others
want to see them.
So, they tried to show that womanhood is not only beauty, but at the
same time it is a powerful mind, a source of loving determination
and creativity in a society, where women, even today, are trying to take
their position as equals. Something that shouldn't even be discussed
since it rightfully holds it from the very beginning of creation.
….see me…
The end
