Analysis Of The Cask Of Amontillado
In The Cask of Amontillado Montresor lived for fifty years after killing Fortunato and he narrates the
events of the story coldly and that leads some to wonder whether or not Montresor has changed and if
he has changed how did he change. Over the fifty years between the events of The Cask Of
Amontillado and the time when Montresor narrates the story, time changed Montresor into a guilty
and shamed man that may have PTSD.
The plot is simple Montresor has been insulted by Fortunato and he wants revenge so he leads
Fortunato into a crypt, kills him and tells the story fifty years later. The story takes place in the
eighteen hundred during the Carnaval. The story starts with Montresor claiming that Fortunato had
injured him a thousand times, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While approaching the end of their journey they approach the end of the crypt where there was
another smaller crypt where three of the four walls were lined with human remains and the fourth wall
had the bones thrown down onto the floor causing a mound to form and with the bones removed an
interior room could be seen. Montresor then tells Fortunato that the Amontillado is in the interior room
so Fortunato enters the room only to be stupefied by the lack of Amontillado. Then Montresor pushes
him onto the wall and chains him to the iron staples, after that Montresor leaves the room and picks up
some stone and mortar from the pile of bones and starts to wall in Fortunato, once Montresor finishes,
he covers the wall with the bones it is revealed that Montresor is narrating the story fifty years after
the fact and that no one has ever disturbed the bones for fifty years. During the time Montresor is
telling the story, he could be suffering from PTSD. While diagnosing whether Montresor has PTSD is
impossible, he probably does have PTSD since killing can cause PTSD in most humans who kill and
the only people who don t are psychopaths and sociopaths. Montresor re experiences the story of
killing Fortunato through recollections of the event or flashbacks. Montresor may

Hurdle And Gerrit Cole In Major League Baseball
Imagine it is the final game of the Major League Baseball (MLB) season in the seventh inning of an
interleague game between the National League (NL) Pittsburgh Pirates and the American League (AL)
Toronto Blue Jays. Gerrit Cole is pitching for the hometown Pirates and is having an exceptional
game, allowing only one unearned run. The Jays lead 1 0 and Gerrit Cole is up next to bat. The
question then for General Manager, Clint Hurdle, is whether to pinch hit for him in exchange for a
better hitter, or to leave him in the game so he can continue to pitch. If only there was a way to keep
Cole in the game, while having someone like Pedro Alvarez; a non everyday starter who can hit the
ball, pinch hit and give their team the best chance to win ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What it comes down to is the difference between the need to do something and the option to do
something. None other than Bill James, a widely known baseball writer, noted that the perceived
strategy is actually very trite, predictable, and actually nonstrategic. Instead of manager s deciding on
what substitution, or lack thereof, can give their team an advantage, they are forced with situations in
which they must bunt, must pinch hit, and must double switch. As James notes, the American League
game allows a true option, and thus true strategy. This means that whatever AL managers decide to do
when it comes to offensive batting substitutions, they do so to benefit their team, not because they are
forced to do so (Meehan, 2013). These substitutions, including the commonly used double switch
where a pinch hitter is substituted for the pitcher and the next inning is substituted again for a relief
pitcher, take up time in the game. It is significantly a problem in the MLB where the longevity and the
slow pace of the game has caused many fans to get bored sitting through a full nine innings.
Especially with the addition of instant replay, the game continues to get longer and it has become a
challenge for many fans to watch an entire game. Brian Costa, sports reporter for the Wall Street
Journal, wrote an article about the reasons for the length and slow pace of the game. He mentions that
it has become normal for fans to complain about hitters stepping out of the batter s box, pitchers
pacing around the mound and pitching changes. Red Sox Chief Operating Officer Sam Kennedy even
states that this problem is one of the most critical issues facing baseball as we move forward into the
next three, five, seven years (Costa, 2014). Joe Sheehan also wrote an article about the increasing

The Collegiate Athletic Association Of College Athletics
The NCAA continues to prohibit payment to its student athletes, while its member universities
continue to seek new ways to increase revenue from the athlete s accomplishments. The National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is the nonprofit governing body of college athletics. The
primary task of the NCAA is to oversee the actions of all student athletes and universities to verify
that both parties abide by the rules and regulations within the principles of amateurism, defined by the
Association. However, the NCAA has been ruthlessly exploiting the athlete s talents in the hopes of
maximizing profits. The NCAA and its member universities carry little concern regarding the success
of student athletes, currently; their priorities have become profit oriented. In the rapidly growing
industry of College Athletics, a one sided business relationship has evolved between colleges and
student athletes. Former University of Connecticut basketball standout Shabazz Napier has recalled
his experience as a collegiate athlete in a statement: there have been hungry nights where I m not able
to eat, and yet I m still forced to play to the best of my abilities. After I noticed my jersey being sold I
felt like I should get something in return. [1] The aforementioned Napier has spent, on average 43.3
hours per week on sports related activities [2]. With copious amounts of time dedicated towards the
sport of basketball, he lacked the ability to seek employment at a professional job.

Dilma Rousseff s Impeachment In Brazil
The current event I choose is about Brazil s impeachment movement towards President Dilma
Rousseff. The reason why Dilma Rousseff is facing impeachment is because a large portion of Brazil
population blame Dilma Rousseff for the scandal involving the oil giant Petrobras. The scandal
involving the oil giant Petrobras is also known as the Car Wash Investigation that occur behind her
back and has now weaken her authority of the government. However, the impeachment has nothing to
do with oil giant Petrobras but how Jim oru Sethi was able to manipulate the government accounts to
hide the country actual devastate. Instead of focusing on how Sethi was able to manipulate the
government to hide the money without anybody knowing. Instead of facing ... Show more content on

Many believe that congress is trying to look after themselves because of the Car Wash Investigation
and blaming everything on Rousseff for what happen and claiming that she could have used the
money for her pass reelection and no one would know but her. When congress voted to impeach
Rousseff and she did not stand a chance losing by a landslide now the senate where they will check on
whether congress vote is true or not deny the impeachment. The reason why I choose this current
event is because it reflects back on the reading called Never Meant to Survive by John H Costa
Vargas. In the reading Vargas talks about Brazil myth. According to the existing myth, Brazil is a
polity characterized by the relative unimportance of race both as a cognitive moral category and as a
determinant of one s structural social position (104). In other words, what Vargas is saying that Brazil
is still based on a social hierarchy and how the power stays within the same social class. When
congress got caught with the scandal behind Rousseff back they blamed everything on her to sustain
the power. Brazil is known for having hundreds of Favelas where poverty is at its extreme. As talked
in class the rich and elite earned money are not invested in poor society, but rather back to themselves
or somewhere elsewhere. When Dilma Rousseff was in office the economy was at the best and before
that Brazil was still

Paradox Of Meno And Meno
The Paradox of Inquiry is also known as Meno s Paradox, there are a few interpretations to this
dialogue which can appear to be quite challenging to understand. In the Paradox, Socrates and Meno
are inquiring into the term virtue and what the definition of virtue might be. Socrates postulates three
possible options of acquiring knowledge in the Meno; finding out for yourself, learning from someone
else or by a divine inspiration. My thesis is that .......
Meno questions Scorates about how he will search for virtue and know what it is MENO: How will
you look for it Socrates, when you don t know at all what it is? How will you aim to search for
something you do not know at all? If you should meet with it, how will you know that this is ... Show

Therefore, knowledge does dissolve the paradox and belief doesn t according to Socrates. Pre existing
knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know
things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the
other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the
paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information.
Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go
through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that
our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a
slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who
appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives
a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right
answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past
experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own.
Therefore, we have pre existing information in our souls and it is only a matter of remembering past
information.
It may seem as though Socrates dissolved the paradox of inquiry

Core problems There are several issues for Eddie Bauer, Inc. to tackle, low profit margin ratio, high
sales return and high inventory level, and brand positioning. Analysis of the problems Eddie Bauer
yielded the lowest net income among its competitors like The Gap, A F and Land s End. It achieved
similar gross profit margin but got a poor performance on overall net income at 1% because it suffered
from high expenditure on SG A in both retail and catalog operations which accounted for 37% of its
total net sales. This is extraordinary high while compared with its main competitors like A F, and the

crossover brand name products and sponsor the qualified and famous explorers, athletes and
celebrities to attract the customer s attention and boost up more sales. Combined with both advertising
and more items available in retail, the sales is forecast to increase at 5% for the 1st year at $27M

developing selling information is lower than printing content for catalog. Both professional and higher
quality elements should be added to the I Media since 50% of I media customers are affluent male
who are looking for quality to fit their life style. To increase the brand synergy, more women s items

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide
The late sixties were a time filled with sex, drugs, and rock and roll. A huge part of American culture
at the time was focused around these three things. Musicians possessed a tremendous amount of social
influence, and like wise, society put a lot of emphasis on the lives and attitudes of musicians. Of the
rock groups from this time period, the Beatles were by far the most influential. The British rock group
was probably the most catalytic band in rock and roll history. Although they came together in the
shadow of the Beatles, another band of that era was Jefferson Airplane. Jefferson Airplane was

LSD alters your sense of direction, distance, and time (KidsHealth). In the 1960 s many rock groups
began using LSD and other drugs. Various songs would reflect experiences band members had
undergone while using narcotics. It is commonly speculated that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is
just this type of song. Many of the lines from the Beatles song could be related to the sensations of an
acid trip. The marmalade skies, cellophane flowers , and rocking horse people depicted in the song
could represent the type of images a person might see under the influence of LSD. The world Lennon
portrays with his lyrics is abstract, psychedelic, and dream like, very much akin to what a person
would see on an acid trip. Various people have noted that the first letter in each of the key title words:
Lucy, Sky, and Diamonds, spell out LSD. John Lennon claims that the connection is merely
coincidental and that he had no intention of incorporating LSD into the song in any way. Lennon told
reporters in a 1980 interview, it was purely unconscious that it came out to be LSDit s not an acid song

were experimenting with LSD. Many fans, parents, and critics saw this song as John Lennon s praise
of the drug.

Jefferson Airplane offers no defense to the matter. Lines such as one

the following: A1. Present the optimal results of a well prepared and well delivered performance
appraisal. *If the company establishes a well prepared and well delivered performance appraisal, what
are the best results the company can expect? (employee prospective and company perspective are

(suggestion: ongoing activities and in the time proximal to the performance review) It is important to
make time for pre appraisal activities to make sure that the benefits are at max potential. It will hurt
the chances of maximizing gains for both the company and the employee if the following activities are
not done beforehand. The most important thing when it comes to being ready for the performance
appraisal is being well prepared. The manager needs to make sure that he sets aside enough time to
perform the pre appraisal activities. These activities include establishing a time for the appraisal and
relating it to the employee, making sure to lay out all new and old goals for the employee, giving the
employee an advance copy of the review, collecting the employee s review of themselves, and
collecting all notes taken that may validate your points and emphasize your decisions as well as the
last performance appraisal. It is important to make sure that the employee has enough time to prepare
for the appraisal. This allows for quality feedback from them and will also lead to quality questions. In
order to make it the most beneficial appraisal possible, then both sides need to be well prepared. Goals
and expectations will be completely understood if both parties have an idea of what s expected of
them. The employee can have questions ready for things that they may not understand. There may be

According to the code of conduct at Clarion University plagiarism is the use of another s words
without attribution and without enclosing the words in quotation marks. Plagiarism may also be
defined as the act of taking the ideas or expressions of ideas of another person and representing them

Barnbaum) If there is a direct quote that would be useful then the quote needs taken directly with both
quotes and citations, or when paraphrasing information it needs to be cited. If neither of these is done
then it is plagiarizing. (C. Barnbaum) This form of plagiarism is what I think a lot of people do
because they may agree with another person s thoughts and then want to make it in to their own so
they will change a few words around to make it sound like their own words. The third type of
plagiarism I have found is called Style Plagiarism. (C. Barnbaum) This plagiarism is said to be the
most common trap that students fall into. (C. Barnbaum) Even if you aren t copying word for word but
the same sentence or paragraph order is followed then this would be plagiarism because this is
considered taking the authors reasoning style. (C. Barnbaum) Plagiarism does not always mean
copying information but it can also be stealing the writing format as well. I think this can be
considered a trap because people think it s not okay to steal information but taking the order, outline,
flow, or style it is written in is different but really it is still a form of plagiarism. The next kind of
plagiarism is called Metaphor plagiarism which is not always taking information word for word but
using the same comparison or words to describe something. (C. Barnbaum) An original idea that

Essay on Blood Cleans Honor, or So We Are Told
The number of honor killings each year is unknown. Figures are only estimates at the very best. The
Iraq government dismisses the numbers that are published and those outside the country have no way
to identify how many honor killings take place, if they are even recorded somewhere. According the
Human Rights Watch, honor crimes are acts of violence, usually murder, committed by male family
members against female family members who are perceived to have brought dishonor upon the family
(Stop Violence Against Women). Just sheer suspicion can be seen as a reason to commit an honor
killing. This is because honor is a huge aspect of the culture in Iraq. Without it a family has little left.
So if honor is needed to be restored then it must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Article 409 of the Iraq Penal Code; men, specifically only men, have the right to kill if
he [finds] his wife or one of his female dependents in a state of adultery. This is the exact law that is
used in cases of the honor killings. The men who committed the crime will then receive a maximum of
three years in jail, if they are caught, for the honor killing (Bayoumy). Honor killings are not just
socially accepted they are also ignored, as though they are not occurring, by the law. In the case of Du
a Khalil Aswad whose death, which was recorded on a cell phone camera, was posted on the media, in
the video it can be seen that the police are just watching instead of helping (Four Years On). The
police are citizens of Iraq and therefore they are taught the same values of the culture that people who
participate in honor killings are taught. Because of that even the police view honor killings are
acceptable and feel no need to step in to intervene. While women are trying to call question to this
law, it is still in place because of the fact that honor is regarded as a high priority in Iraq and without
honor killings there is no way to restore honor to a family name that has been dishonored.

Social Aspects Of Islam Mohammed
I have a feeling that talking about this rather sensitive topic will raise hell and will indeed upset many
who actually deeply believe that their bloodline goes back to the Prophet of Islam Mohammed
(PBUH). However, I strongly believe that it is about time that we talk about this phenomenon, which
only congregate our ignorance and backwardness.
Growing in a conservative and religious environment, many social aspects of life in Morocco did not
make sense to my head, and my brain could and will never be able to digest how the vast majority of
Moroccans, regardless their social status, believe that they have all a sacred lineage to the Holy House.
They believe that their bloodline takes all the way back to the Prophet. This includes the rich and the
poor, the educated and the illiterate; they all claim some type of holiness and show it off when
opportunities occur and permit.
In a previous analysis, I talked about how Islam has been widely and abusively used throughout
Moroccan history to gain power and wealth. This has been proven and recorded in history books. Each
ruling dynasty used the banner of religion to overthrow the declining and fading dynasty.
When Islam was introduced to humanity, it introduced a doctrine, which promotes a social equality
and called for abolishing of social differences. Islam praises those who do good deeds and abide by
the Divine rules set by the Deity and His Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). There is no single verse in the
Holy Koran that praises a

Dreamland literally has opiate in the title while one can simply read the back cover to discover this

they were before. Dreamland possesses witty yet literal titles such as Delivered Like Pizza which

The Green Revolution
The world s worst recorded food disaster occurred in 1943 in British ruled India. Known as the Bengal
Famine, an estimated 4 million people died of hunger that year in eastern India (which included today
s Bangladesh). Initially, this catastrophe was attributed to an acute shortfall in food production in the
area. However, Indian economist Amartya Sen (recipient of the Nobel Prize for Economics, 1998) has
established that while food shortage was a contributor to the problem, a more potent factor was the
result of hysteria related to World War II, which made food supply a low priority for the British rulers.

Gun Control Under Control Essay
Gun Control Under Control
Whenever a shooting happens, such Columbine, the Aurora Theater Shooting, or the Navy Yard
shooting, the question of gun control comes up in politics again. Then after a month or two, the topic
is dropped, until yet another shooting happens. When is this nation going to finally make a change?
America needs to put more emphasis on making certain potential criminals and the clinically insane
do not have access to such dangerous weapons. What about the little boy who found his parent s gun
in his parent s bedside drawer and accidentally shot himself? Should there not be laws to protect him?
The answer is yes. The government needs to take guns out of the hands of criminals and children and

The idea of redesigning guns is considered more with public safety due to the larger numbers of gun
related deaths (Now 3). What is so hard about making guns safer? If people are not willing to make
guns safer, which is obviously the case, then there should be gun controls. . Imagine how many of
these accidental deaths could be prevented if guns can be kept out of the hands of children and the
careless.
According to the NCIPC In 1994, there were 38,505 firearm related deaths. These included: more than
17,800 homicides; more than 18,700 suicides; more than 1,300 unintentional, firearms related deaths
related to firearms (Facts 1). Some of the worst crimes are committed with guns. For example, the
shooting at Columbine which Americans heard about on the news in 1999. Two teenagers shot and
killed twelve students and one teacher at their own school (Facts 1). The boys were later thought to be
mentally ill, as with many of the people who commit shooting such as this. Could this have been
prevented through gun laws that require stricter background checks and better mental health check
ups? In an article by Craig R Whitney, he quotes LaPierre from NBC, We have a mental health system

Comparing Two Adverts
Smoking has a dramatic impact on many Victorians. Two ads that are trying to address the issue are
Vic Health Will your kids go through the agony and Quit Line s Should have been there . They are
trying to stop parents smoking and position them to quit for their kids. Quit Line is an organisation
that has been running since early 1970. Vic health on the other hand has been running since 1987. The
contention of Should have been there is for the parents to stop smoking so they do not miss out on
things with their kids. The intention is to stop smoking so the viewers can spend as much time as
possible with their kids. Whereas the contention of Will your kids go through the agony is to get the
audience to stop and think about their kids and how will they go if the viewer passes away from

emotions come into play so that they feel as though they are in that situation and they are truly
saddened about what is going on with that family. They both demonstrate and reinforce the fact that
everyone is affected by just one person smoking in the family. The contention is very similar because
they are both stating that the person will miss out on things with their kids. Again, these ads are very

How Did The Revolutionary War Contribute To The...
There are many important events/wars that took place in North America, but the war that really caught
my eye was the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War was an major event that helped us as
Americans gain the freedom and independence we have today. The Revolutionary War also helped
sparked the Declaration of Independence. The Revolutionary War just didn t happen out of the blue, of
course their were some causes. The French and Indian War of 1763 left the British with a massive war
debt. The British raised the revenue by imposing new taxes in the colonies without the colonists
approval. However the imposement of the Proclamation of 1763 introduced a massive boundary to
separate white settlements from Indian country. Americans assumed the British joined the Native
Americans to go against the colonists. The Quartering Act of 1765 was an unfair act that required the

Misrepresented On The Internet

Final Essay In our current world, there are many different consumer problems that are taking place at
an increasing rate. These issues are occurring through a wide range of services from retail service
consumer problems, auto consumer problems, credit consumer problems, and many more. The one
consumer problem that has caught my attention on multiple occasions this year would be Internet
Fraud as a whole, especially on social media. The Internet has rapidly become something that is
widely used by many people all over the nation and world, sweeping and striping our societies of
money. People now run companies, and businesses through social media as well. Many occasions
have taken place where things are misrepresented on the Internet, and that s typically how fraud takes
place. Internet sales and fraud can be shown through online ordering. There have been multiple cases
where a buyer would purchase a product online and unfortunately the item is never delivered to the
purchaser. One consumer problem that has been occurring repeatedly this year to my notice would be
the times that people have paid for something that they aren t receiving. There have been many cases
where people order a particular product, or item online with expectancy of a delivery, and they never
get it. One particular example of a consumer problem that comes to my attention has been the amount
of ticketing fraud that occurs through many different websites online.

Whether a Cut in Corp Tax Rate be Beneficial Essay
Whether a Cut in Corp Tax Rate be Beneficial Doesn t everyone want to keep what he/she has earned?
It has always been somewhat tradition for Americans to work hard for their money, only to see some
of it squandered away come tax time. Wouldn t a tax cut, for some, be like a divine, heavenly grace?
As the year 2001 unfolds and George W. Bush begins his presidency, income tax rates have, in fact,
become a concern. President Bush is pushing for an income tax bill that will reduce the tax brackets
from 15%, 28%, 31%, 36%, and 39.6% to a new bracket in 2006 of 10%, 15%, 25%, and 33%. A cut
in individual income taxes would benefit most Americans and is well deserved. However, there is no
plan to cut the corporate tax rates yet. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the risk is too great and a feeling of uneasiness sets in on Wall Street, investors may begin to sell
that firm s stock, dropping the market price per share and possibly the value of the firm itself. The
reasoning? Simple: if the price of the share decreases, then there is a possibility that when the time
came for a favorable risk adjustment, investors would be paying a lower price per share than the firm
is really worth. The amount of equity that they would receive from their outstanding shares would
decrease. Also, if the tax rates rise and the company has been deemed riskier than before, some
insiders may begin to sell their shares of the firm. When this hits the market, it sends a negative signal
to investors to sell, which will dump excessive shares onto the market. Conversely, if the degree of
risk is not in excessive measures, investors might purchase more shares in hopes that the increased
risk will yield a higher rate of return; a classic example of the risk return trade off.
Along with market performance, a firm may need to adapt its financial activities as well. These
activities all relate to the way the firm is organized, in particular, its capital structure. Included in
capital structure is the aspect of convertible bonds. These bonds can be converted to a specified
amount of common stock. The downside of these convertible stocks and bonds is that they have the
potential of diluting the Earnings Per Share (EPS)

The Past, Present, and Future of Website Designers and...
This paper will be discussing the past, present, and future of web designers and developers. First by
looking at the brief history of websites and how it has evolved to what is it today. Second will be
discussing the present trends of how people are viewing websites on mobile devices such as: cell
phones and tablets, and how that affects the design and development of websites. Lastly we ll discuss
the possible expectations the future has in store for us, devices like Google glass and other
advancements to come. Website would of course not exist without the invention of the internet, which

In the decade mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets have risen in usage for visiting websites.
Since 2010 there as been a 400% growth in mobile web searches. (ETC, 2013) Unfortunately websites
are very hard for the user to view and navigate through websites not designed for a small screen used
on cell phones. This was the new challenge for web designers to solve and with the growth of
popularity of mobile usage the web designers needed to make websites for both personal computers
and mobile devices. Now often if the user visit a website using a mobile device they will be asked if
they want to go to the mobile site which are specifically designed for a better user interface and design
for the mobile device. With the smaller screens of mobile devices the we designers needed to layout
the website completely differently so the user does not get overwhelmed or confused. The new trend
for 2013 is called Responsive Web Design also known as RWD which allows users have a better
experience on both P.C. s and mobile devices. The RWD templates are designed to work and have a
good visual feel on a variety of different screens, so a user on any device accessing a website will have
a good experience on what ever device. (Taheri, 2013) Scrolling and navigation panels on websites
have also begun to change, now certain apps have been integrated into websites for users to have a

Moral Ambiguity in The Stranger Essay
Has there ever existed a person that has not judged someone else over their lifetime? Judging by
reality as well as literature it seems that no person like that has ever existed. It appears that it is human
nature to want to pronounce others as either purely good or evil. But does everyone fit into the mold
of good or evil? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, Meursault is a morally ambiguous character, and this
ethical indistinctness plays a major part in the novel as a whole and the theme that Camus is trying to
portray.
Meursault resists being typecast into an archetypal moral category in many of his deeds and actions.
Many of his actions in Part One of the novel help contribute to the fuzzy picture of the character. For
example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abstractly, it almost seems as though the other characters in the book look down on his for this not
because he is not mourning, but rather because he is not mourning in the way they are. This sheds
light on the overall theme of the novel, that of people being cast out of society because their views and
methods do not line up with the accepted ways of society.
The same moral ambiguity is also present in Meursault s murder of the Arab and the ensuing trial. As
far as absolute morality goes, the murder is without question an act that falls on the evil side of ethics.
That point is not a topic for debate, but in the reasons behind it the reader can find even more of
Meursault s moral ambiguity. At the time, he does not seem to know why he is doing what he is doing,
but it is certainly not out of spite or malice, nor out of any specific hatred of the Arab himself. He
could be harboring a grudge on behalf of his friend, which would be understandable, since Raymond
is one of the only people we see Meursault truly connect with in the novel, if it can even be called that.
He could be taking preemptive action in self defense, especially after he sees the knife glinting in the
Arab s hand. In truth, it is never truly revealed what his motive for his rash action was, making it hard

Stono Rebellion Essay
The Stono Rebellion was at the time the biggest slave rebellion to ever take place in the American
colonies. It came at a time when owning slaves was one of the accepted things in the colonies and the
colonists depended on the labor the slaves were doing. Some colonies entire economies depended on
it. In South Carolina, there were more slaves than free men in the colony. This was because of the
African slave trade. It was the constant trade to get slaves which made the colonists depend on slave
labor. Slave labor was so profitable, most slave owners treated their slaves as property. Beatings,
starvation, and overworking were common practices on the plantations. The slave owners didn t care

Twenty whites and forty four slaves were killed in the fight at Edisto River. The group of slaves
retreated but the militia were able to get other local militia s to join in the fight with them. In addition,
remaining local slave owners warned and threatened their own slaves that if they even considered
joining the rebellion, they would be punished. The militia and the slave group fought for over a week.
The conflict finally ended with the surrendering of the slave group. After the slaves surrendered, the
remaining members of the slaves that rebelled were hung for their crimes. These slaves were made an
example to all other slaves, making them not even want to attempt to rebel in the future. This rebellion
led to much harsher slave codes that were enforced in the colony. It also restricted the slaves so much
that it meant that they could not go anywhere without their owners permission at any time. The Negro
Act of 1740 was passed which prohibited enslaved people from growing their own food, assembling
in groups, earning money they, rather than their owners, could retain or learning to read. (The Black

setting back the relations of blacks and whites in the state for years. This conflict ended up reigniting
tensions between the races that up to that point were not all that high. The rebellion also made slavery

The Yellow Wallpaper Symbolism Essay
Commonly overlooked in its significance, the garden in The Yellow Wallpaper successfully represents
all elements of the main character s rebellious intentions. Generally, a garden features well trimmed
vegetation, which is guarded by a fence or wall to keep away outside forces, whether it be humans or
animals with intentions to harm the plants. In contrast, nature operates in a free flowing manner, with
its greenery tangled in abundance and lacking any type of structure. On the surface, it may seem that
the garden s kempt appearance is a blessing to the plants within, as they are saved from the
uncertainties of natural life by being incubated in a specific space. The main character of The Yellow

The word choice the main character employs to describe the plants is particularly notable, as it implies
a disobedient appearance in a garden that expects conformity in its essence. This oddly described
foliage becomes the inanimate representation of the main character herself, who is also trying to rebel
against a world passionate in its attempts to suppress and demean. The plants become riotous and
gnarly to actively resist attempts to be subordinated by the garden, and the main character s
observation of this conveys her desire to revolt, even though she cannot express her displeasure in a
communicable language. The main character s envy of the plants makes this symbol even more
powerful, as the greenery represents where she seeks to be: in a position where she can fight her
oppressors by being openly nonconformist. Unfortunately for the main character, her rebellious
behavior haves to be tucked away in the subconscious and in her own thoughts, as she is unable to

The Human Growth Hormone
Human Growth hormone (GH), also known as somatotropin, is a peptide produced by the anterior
pituitary gland from somatotroph cells. GH has come to the forefront in the sports world for doping
and anti aging promoters. In adults, the most prominent effects of GH are decreased fat mass and
increased lean body mass. The increase in lean body mass is associated with increased protein
synthesis, muscle mass, and muscle function (1). GH plays an important role in the linear
development of bone growth in children and adolescents. After the body stops growing, GH levels
decrease dramatically and remain low throughout the remainder of adult life (2).
GH is a single chain peptide with 191 amino acids that is stabilized by two disulfide bridges. The
molecular weight is 22,000 Daltons (3). GH 1 and GH 2 are genes for GH that are located on
chromosome 17 in the q22 24 region (4). GH secretion is regulated by growth hormone releasing
hormone (GHRH). GHRH is a peptide released from the hypothalamus that stimulates the release of
GH. The hypothalamus also secretes somatostatin, which inhibits the release of GH through back
regulation. GHRH and somatostatin are released from the hypothalamus through the hypophyseal
portal and are transported to the anterior pituitary. GH is released in a pulsatile fashion that is
determined by the concentration of GHRH and somatostatin (5). Levels of GH are slightly higher in
women than in men and the highest amounts of GH secretion is during puberty in

Life in the Medieval Era Essay
Life in the Medieval Era
Living in the medieval time period was not as glamorous as it is often portrayed; peasants and serfs
led hard lives, however, kings, lords, and knights lived lavishly and at the expense of those under
them. In this paper you will read about all of these lifestyles, as well as the castles in which these lords

there are several sections, dealing with the lifestyles of the above mentioned, leading up to that.

The rest of the time the villagers were free to work their own fields.
During the Middle Ages a peasant s life was, indeed, very rough, there were anywhere from ten to
sixty families living in a single village; they lived in rough huts on dirt floors, with no chimneys, or
windows. Usually one end of the hut was given over to storing livestock. Furnishings were quite
sparse; three legged stools, a trestle table, beds softened with straw or leaves and placed on the floor;
the peasant diet was mainly porridge, cheese, black bread, and a few homegrown vegetables. Peasants
had a hard life, yet they did not work on Sundays, and they could travel to nearby fairs and markets.
The basic diet of a lord consisted of meat, fish, pastries, cabbage, turnips, onions, carrots, beans, and
peas, as well as fresh bread, cheese, and fruit. This is by no means equivalent to the meals the peasants
ate, a lord might even feast on boar, swan, or peacock as well.
However both lords and peasants rarely drank water, due to the degree of contaminates in it, instead
they often drank wine or beer. Serfs had neither freedom nor personal possessions and had to ask
permission to be married, for they were bound to a lord for life. A serf could not leave the land under
any circumstances, unless he ran away; if he chose to run to a town and managed to stay there for a
year and a day, he was

Originally Siddhartha left his father s, the Samanas, and even Gotama to seek out knowledge and
enlightenment without the help of teachers. During his time alone, after he left the spiritual world and
entered the material world, he only learned from teachers and masters of a craft. His new teachers,
Kamala and Kamaswami taught him the material arts of love, and business respectively. Finally,

Parenting Styles Essay
When my first child was born I there was considerable interest in Mozart CDs. These Cd s were

Parenting can be done quickly and with little inconvenience. The reality is that good parenting does
not require classical music, but instead time and effort. As children grow from infancy into
adolescence the role of parenting broadens. How parents react to their child s actions communicates a
standard of appropriate and inappropriate behavior that are fulfilled with varying degrees of conscious

What are the differences between children who have parents that show little affection when compared

Does it make a difference if some parents spank their children while others go on in seemingly
endlessly discussions? As my son once said to his older brother, Just say you understand so he ll shut
up. Diana Baumrind (1966, 1967, 1978) decided to find out the answers to those questions by
determining what effect parenting styles, as interactions between the two dimensions of parental
acceptance and control, had on children s social and intellectual competence. To start with, Baumrind
identified four distinct parenting styles: neglectful, permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative.
Neglectful parenting is a style in which the parent is very uninvolved in the child s life. These parents
seem to focus more on their own lives and are not particularly involved with or supportive of their
children. They appear to be detached from the child and provide only for their basic physical and
emotional needs and not much else. They offer little or no help with homework, provide minimal
supervision, and spend little time together. Permissive (or indulgent) parents are responsive and
accepting. They make few demands of their children, indulge their children s desires, and use little
punishment. They allow their children free expression of impulses and set few

Group Counseling For Widowed Men Essay
Group Counseling For Widowed Men Over Sixty Years
For a long time the debate has waged on as to what is the best means for those grieving or the
bereaved to cope with the pain and loss of their situation. Though most people opt for the medical
approach where they consult a medical professional, there have been those who argue for another
different approach that is the use of support groups. This is a term used to refer to counseling
frameworks where the grieving are grouped into units composed of several participants from a
minimum of four to twelve depending on the number of participants and issue or problem similarity.
Support groups are a place where the bereaved can find a safe haven for them to not only express their
emotions but also it creates a platform for them to further understand their symptoms of grief the
various stages of the grief and mostly provides the opportunity to feel a connection to people who are
in a similar position which aids them in coping better with the loss of their loved one (Hospice of the
Comforter, 2016). Additionally, social groups have been sold as a sanctuary where the members can
adapt to life after loss through both social and grief support and counsel. These groups in many of the
cases do not charge the participants a fee or any money and the main premise of their formation is
openness and confidentiality where one can express themselves freely. In recent years however,

The Most Dangerous Character Analysis
Picture a ballroom dance, beautiful, elegant, and intriguing. Now remove the dancers from the stage,
and now the stage is empty, dull, and pointless. Much like a story without dynamic characters. In The
Most Dangerous written by Richard Connell, dynamic characters effectively engage the audience. One
character that shows this is Rainsford, a big game hunter lost on a tropical island. On the island he
comes across General Zaroff who is also a hunter, but not in the conventional way. Beatrice (Tris)
from the Divergent series, written by Veronica Roth, is also a great example of a dynamic character
effectively engaging an audience. In post apocalyptic Chicago the society is divided into five factions,
each dedicated to different morals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Connell writes, The general was saving him for another day s sport! The Cossack was the cat; he was
the mouse. Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror (Connell 34). This quotes
shows Rainsford being terrified by his plight for the first time. The audience is left wondering if
Zaroff s mind games will be Rainsford s Achilles heel. Knowing that Rainsford is a dynamic character
adds suspense because he has to change physically and mentally to survive, and the audience doesn t
know if he is capable of that. If a character doesn t change then the story is predictable and simple.
Dynamic characters are a necessity in creating suspense and engaging an audience. Not only do
dynamic characters create suspense, but they also make for a more complete story. Another way is that
dynamic characters make for a more complete story. Had Beatrice not had been a dynamic character
there would be no story. Once every year all sixteen year olds must select a faction in which they will
dedicate their lives to, and put faction over family. Beatrice must decide staying with her family or be
who she really is. Beatrice is also hiding a life threatening secret. What starts her change is when
Beatrice chooses to switch out of her faction, Abnegation, and into Dauntless, and when she changes
her name to Tris. In the beginning of the book Tris is dependent on others and is obedient.

Ronaldo s Acceptance Of Goods By Benjamin
5. Ronaldo s acceptance of goods by Benjamin
Here arises the issue of whether Benjamin had the authority to sale the cargo to Ronaldo. It can be
claimed that there are two opinions on this subject.
On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA 1979
and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with s.21(1) gives
no property to Ronaldo.
On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his previous
transaction with Maurice. Benjamin got the cargo from Maurice in good faith33, which also happened
with Ronaldo receiving the same Bill of Lading from Benjamin in line with the definitions given in
s.2(1) s.2(4), paying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, if we take the view that property had not passed to Benjamin, then s.39(2) also gives
Maurice the right of stoppage of the goods as s.41(c) s.44 confirm that the unpaid seller Maurice has
exercisable rights on the goods. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin had already sold
the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the re sale, then no such
issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two parties which means
that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a third person has the title
of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin and Maurice since he acted in
good faith. Accordingly, under s.43(1)(b) Maurice s rights on the cargo cease to exist, since Ronaldo
lawfully obtained the bill of lading by Benjamin. In support of his statement s.47(2)(a) also provides
that no lien, retention or stoppage can be exercised on the consignment.
To sum up, since the action against Benjamin was effected after Ronaldo had acquired the title of the
goods, Maurice had no right on the cargo.
8. Stoppage in transit Letter of indemnity Non delivery of the goods

Pausanias Idea Of Love In Plato s Symposium
Eros, the God of Love, was held in high respect throughout all of ancient Greece due to Love s
contributions to the culture and relationships amongst individuals. However, in Plato Symposium,
each guest has their own unique perspective on the role Eros plays. Among those gathered at the
Symposium, speeches are offered with anything from exalting words of praise to honest words of
criticisms. Pausanias and Agathon, guests at the symposium, are romantic partners, each with their
own views on Love. Pausanias idea of Love is based off the idea that there are two different types of
Love, and he emphasizes the importance of intent and virtue. While Agathon, the more passive of the
two, expresses his praise for Eros as an entity and His divinity ... Show more content on

Pausanias says People are right to condemn the hasty and immoral demands which the vulgar lover
makes upon his prey, (Plato, 181e 182a). His belief that lust for physical pleasure is beyond the
bounds of being morally justified and therefore believes that consequences should be welcomed.
Pausanias places value on the idea of intellectual growth between Lovers and therefore opposes his
formed concept of Common Love. In addition to criticizing the undiscriminating nature of Common
Love, Pausanias criticizes Heavenly Love s tendency to instill in individuals the attraction to young
boys. However, Pausanias does justify this variation of Love by explaining that a prospering
relationship can come from Heavenly Love due to the naive nature of young boys being allowed to be
nurtured mentally by somebody more mature with virtue and merit. But in direct opposition,
Pausanias also expresses how he vehemently opposes those individuals who take advantage of the
young and unwise boys and women for a solely sexual relationship. Through these criticisms, he is
proposing that Love isn t always honorable. Pausanias states that Love, in and of itself, is neither
honorable nor disgraceful, since its character and quality must be determined by the way in which it is
carried out (Plato, 183d). He is expressing that Love alone can not be characterized as being entirely
good or entirely bad but the intent and way love is conveyed must also be taken into consideration

Important Aspects Of A Functioning Classroom
Through this past semester, we have heavily discussed the important aspects of a functioning
classroom, from different theorists to helpful teaching techniques. We ve debated what it means to be
a great teacher. There are quite a few flaws in our education system today, but I believe most of the
theories we discussed could be accorporated much more in the classroom. John Dewey, Friedrich
Froebel, Maria Montessori, and Lev Vygotsky all understood the way children think and the
importance of imaginative play. They also understood that children need to be active in nature. Also,
we have discussed different forms of learning, such as project based learning, and outdoor classrooms.
In my opinion, the education system should have minor changes that benefit the students more.
Despite the various flaws, schools are extremely important for students especially on a social stand
point. They can be around children their own age and interact in various scenarios. Socializing is
important for children of all ages, it helps them develop listening skills, communication skills, how to
share, how to work in groups, and compromise. Every interaction a child has is a learning experience.
They learn what is right or wrong and how to communicate appropriately, social interaction plays a
key role in cognitive development. Lev Vygotsky was a cognitive theorist who believed social
interaction and imaginative play were critical in child development. Imaginative play is actually a
complex process

Social Security Number Of An Individual
Social Security Number of an Individual The number one priority would be to keep the SSN
confidential, this information does not need to be accessed by most individuals. Behind that integrity
would be the next priority, to make sure this matches up with the individual at hand. Third of course
would have to be availability, without this information, it could prove to be difficult to verify
someones identity.
First Name and Last Name I feel that all of these attributes serve the same level of importance, due to
the fact there is no description of what sort of situation this worksheet is in reference to. A lot of
information can be had, just from a persons first and last name, especially if this name is not very
common.
Credit Card Number I also see credit card numbers as all holding the same level of importance. I feel
this way because these numbers need to kept confidential to minimize the risk of theft. Integrity needs
to be held for the fact that if these are manipulated, depending on the situation, refunds may be pushed
to the wrong individuals bank account. And I feel availability is just as important for verification
reasons.
Qualification I feel that integrity in this care is the most important, for the fact that that these need to
match up with the persons actual qualifications to prevent someone being placed in a position that
may hold confidential information, when in fact they are not qualified to hold this type of information.

transient neuroplastic like responses in motor areas of the brain (Khun et al., 2016). Neuroplasticity
refers to the capacity of the brain to reorganise itself in response to our experiences throughout life.
Typically, changes to the organization of the brain come about to support brain function. For instance,
after a spinal cord injury or stroke, the brain must adapt to allow functional recovery (Rao et al.,
2016). The recognition that the brain must change to improve function has led to several attempts to
boost neuroplasticity. Cutting edge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, loud acoustic stimulation delivered during movement preparation (Marinovic et al.,
2014) and contraction (Chen et al., 2016) can cause intracortical modulation. While the transient
effects of loud sounds on movement facilitation (e.g. faster reaction times and increased response
vigour) are now well established (for a review see Marinovic and Tresilian, 2016), no studies have
examined whether loud sounds can aid motor function beyond the stimulation period. The new
findings reported by Khun and colleagues (2016) demonstrate that we can now add the manipulation
of the focus of attention to the list of neuromodulatory techniques with the potential to boost motor

Viktor Frankl and the Development of Logotherapy
Viktor Emil Frankl was born on March, 26th 1905, at Czeringassa 7, in Leopoldstadt, in Vienna
Austria, where Sigmund Freud and Alfred Alder also grew up (Klingberg, 2014). He was the middle
child out of three children. His older brother, Walter was two and a half years older, and his younger
sister, Stella, was four years younger. His mother was Elsa Frankl, was a polish woman from Prague
with a gentle manner. His father, Gabriel Frankl, had been a hard working man who was the Director
of Social Affairs (Redsand, 2006). By the time Frankl was four years old he knew he wanted to be a
doctor and he pursued that interest while into high school. He took classes focused on psychology and
philosophy. He began corresponding with Freud when he was ... Show more content on

He then developed what he called paradoxical intention. Paradoxical intention is a method which
encourages one to image themselves pushing into their fear rather than running from it, such as a
patient suffering from insomnia (Pg.112, Frankl, 2006). Instead of focusing on falling asleep the
patient would be asked to focus very hard on staying awake. The success of the paradoxical intention
is called dereflection, which is when the patient is focused back on the task. He met his wife, Tilly
Grossner, a nurse at the hospital, and they were married in 1941, and she was pregnant shortly after. In
1942 he was granted a visa to the United States, which would get him safely away from the
concentration camps; however the visa was only good for him. He went to his father who had a block
of marble from the ruins of a burned down synagogue. The marble had an etching of part of one of the
Ten Commandments, which Viktor inquired about. The marble represented the commandment Honor
thy father and mother that thy days may be long upon the land. (Pg.11, Frankl, 2006). Upon hearing
this Viktor decided to stay with his family. The Nazis had forced Tilly to have an abortion as Jews
weren t allowed to have children (Redsand, 2006). Frankl began working on a book titled The Doctor
and the Soul and sewed it into his jacket to keep it hidden. The manuscript was the basic fundamentals
of his logotheory. In July of the same year later his family was deported to the

Limitations Of Lactase Intestinations
The limitations that are necessary to be taken into consideration are the errors associated with the
above research attaining methodologies. Using a lactose tolerance test the arbitrary cut offs are
difficult when taking into consideration borderline values. The impact of certain cut offs would
eliminate or include participant values that could impact on the big picture of the results. For breath
hydrogen analysis and lactose tolerance test, another error is the likelihood of false positives and false
negatives. Most commonly is found in studies is that breath hydrogen reveals the most accurate results
(Mulcare, C. A., et al, 2004). The other errors come from the human participants themselves, which is
why necessary eliminations are used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consideration would then be required of the types of pastoralism within the population is currently
practiced and the relationship that holds with the practices in the past. A specific understanding of the
types of milk that was consumed whether lactose rich forms was ingested first or bacteria converted
dairy products resulting in lower lactose containing foods. The Khoe and the San represent the current
day populations reflective of their original ancestors of the same area (Breton, G., et al, 2014). The
ancestors of the Khoe San populations of Southern African region likely diverged at a minimum of
100 thousand years ago from all human ancestors (11 Breton, G., et al, 2014).
Assuming the data could be collected for the Khoe population, the hypothesis being tested through
further evaluation whether the recorded lactase persistence is realistic given the subsistence behaviour
of the current population. This would require archaeological evidence for the pastoralist population by
the original ancestors of the area. The introduction of pastoralism to southern areas of Africa is widely
debated. It has been accepted the pastoralism spread from North to East Africa and then to Southern
African. There are a few pre existing hypotheses attempting to explain the occurrence of pastoralism
(Breton, G., et al, 2014). One is called the demic diffusion model which suggests the ancestors of the
Khoe originated from an East African or external population that migrated

Swot Analysis Of Jcpenney
Company Profile
JC Penney is an American department store chain with 1,095 locations throughout the United States.
In the latter half of the 20th century, shopping malls became very popular and most of the company s
stores were situated in the downtown areas, they followed the trend of developing more stores in the
shopping malls to attract customers and increase the financial profitability of the company.
Conversely, JC Penney had freestanding stores, and was able to get consumer traffic which helped the
company earn a profit and increase its market share.
From its inception in 1902, the company grew enormously, it added different businesses, made them
successful, and sold them to focus more on the retail aspect of the business. As an example, in 2001,
its direct marketing insurance unit was sold to Dutch Insurance for 1.3 Billion dollars.
In June of 2011, JC Penney announced that Ron Johnson was selected to be the next CEO of the
company. In his 17 months of leadership at JC Penney, the company performed very poorly. Its market
share declined, profits decreased, and the company laid off hundreds of employees and closed
numerous stores throughout the United States. Ron Johnson changed the corporate culture and his
strategies proved to be detrimental.

Bed Swing Research Paper
A front swing is an asset to any home as some realtors believe owning one sells a house faster. Have a
wooden swing brings out the enjoyment of being a kid again and swinging. It is also a great place for
relaxing after a meal or coming home from a hard days work. Most homes that are built these days do
have front porches but I have noticed that some builders are bringing them back. Even if we do not
have a front porch we can hang a swing from a strong and durable patio cover or strong large tree
branches.
Porch swings make cozy place for lounging with your best friend for morning coffee. They are also a
good place for reading daily newspaper or just relaxing on a rainy day. Placing cushions on a wooden
porch swing makes them more comfortable especially for gazing at the stars and enjoying warm
summer breezes.
When purchasing a wooden swing there are a few things to take into consideration. Do you have
somewhere to hang a swing or are you thinking of buying a free standing swing? If you are going to
hang the swing be sure it comes with all the proper hardware. If it is free standing all you need is a
place where you will enjoy it the most. You also need to measure your front porch to sure to get the
correct size swing for that area. It would be better to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most popular woods are wicker, cedar, pine, cypress, pine, teak, and sometimes alder. Wicker
porch swings were very popular in the twenties and thirties and still hold their charm today; wicker
can also be painted to match your house. Cedar porch swings are very popular for their ability to
withstand any type of weather. The natural oils in cedar will prevent decay and keep the little bugs
away. The color of cedar starts out as reddish brown and will turn silvery gray as it ages. Cypress
porch swings are very durable and will hold paint longer than any other wood. Cypress has a tendency
to get small cracks that are referred to as weather

Wisdom Of Humility In Antigone
Humility is the antibiotic to almost every disease, yet throughout this semester I have witnessed many
literary characters fall before they are cured. In East Coker, T.S. Eliot wrote, The only wisdom we
hope to acquire/Is the wisdom of humility, humility is endless. I believe that many characters realized
the benefits of humility, but some were in too deep to take advantage. Creon, Victor and Ivan come
from different time periods, different languages, even different worlds but they all learned the
powerful lesson of humility through their suffering and pain. Creon, the antagonist of Sophocles s play
Antigone is a great example of a man who learns humility after causing mass destruction all around
him. In the play, Creon is the King of Thebes and he is solely interested in political and social order.
The previous King and Creon s brother, Oedipus died and his sons Eteocles and Polynices were
suppose to rotate the throne. However, the brothers ended up killing each other in a duel which led to
Creo taking power. Creon angered his niece Antigone when he allowed her brother Eteocles to be
given proper funeral honors, but not her brother Polynices. To make things more complicated,
Haemon, Creon s son is in love and intends on marrying Antigone. Going against Creon s law,
Antigone gives her brother Polyneices a proper burial and is caught. Creon condemns her to death
despite the outcries of the chorus and his son. He begins to have remorse and says that she may be
freed, but

The Battle Between Commercial Software and Open-Source...
Will commercial software survive the battle with open Source software or are they already losing?
How (if at all) are the commercial software houses defending themselves?
Part 1: Basic Concepts:
Terms:
Free and open source software (FOSS) is software that is both open source software and free software.
This means that it is freely licensed to use, examine, copy, alter the source code of the software, and
the source code it self is openly shared. However, for software to be considered FOSS it must pass a
certain criteria established by the Open Source Initiative (OSI). They determine that FOSS must have
a completely free redistribution with no form of royalty or other form of a fee for the sale (resellers)
and the source code must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it falls into the distinct categories of shareware (demo or trial software where you can
download it for free but some features are restricted or to continue to use the software a payment is
required) and payware (traditional pay to use software) but not freeware (since its free). In all cases
however, the source code is hidden from the users, so that the rights holders (the software publishers)
can sell the binary executable (source code).
History:
Commercial software has been around since 1948 (when the first computer which could hold software
was created, nicknamed baby). The history of FOSS has a strong connection with the hackers in
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. These hackers in 1970s created something ARPANET (known
today as the internet). There were discussions to sell it commercially however the university and its
hackers were strongly opposed to such an idea for they had worked with the ideology that sharing
information is a virtue and they had a moral duty to provide knowledge to the world. These early
hackers stayed true to this ideology and made their software completely free with the source code
completely accessible. Richard Stallman was one of the main people who pushed forward this
ideology preventing the university to monetize the ARPANET and the software they created.
Late in 1997 in MIT the term Open Source software was coined. The developers also founded OSI
who determined what is

Supply Chain and Bergerac
Bergerac Systems: The Challenge of Backward Integration
Abstract
Veterinary expenditure has been on an increasing trend due to the increase in pet ownership in the
United States. Bergerac is a company producing equipments used for testing pet patients in the
veterinarian clinics. Omnivue is one of the most successful equipments produced by the company,
which is priced at a competitive rate to attract lower and middle sized veterinarians. The production of
Omnivue involves the use of plastics and chemical reagents supplied by two major suppliers,
GenieTech and Elsinore. The management of Bergerac is planning to take control over its suppliers to
reduce the production fluctuation and overhead costs of the firm. There are three strategic ... Show

Hence, manufacturing department should not interfere in the distribution department, and the latter
should be experienced in distribution of products like Omnivue to the end customers.
Strategic Alternative 2 Backward Integration
Backward integration is a type of vertical integration in which a company takes control over its
suppliers. It is a form of acquisition of the intermediary players involved in supplying the raw
materials used in the production process of the firm. Raw materials, intermediate manufacturing and
assembly are controlled by the firm whereas distribution to the end customer is done by a third party
company. In this way, company increases production efficiency and gains a competitive advantage by
lowering its production cost.
Bergerac can opt for the buy option and implement its backward integration by acquiring GenieTech.
GenieTech can provide the company with eight efficient molding machines for the acquisition price of
$ 5.75 million. The price includes experienced labor force and management. Bergerac can fulfill its
chemical reagent demand by using 4 out of 8 moulds provided in the acquisition. Rest of the presses
can be used in the expansion process or can be used to meet the demand of a third party. This
investment can result in the reduction of overhead expenses by twenty six percent per unit. Bergerac
can pay the amount over a period of five years making the project

Data And Information On Health Information Management
The terms data and information are often used interchangeably, however, with health information
management, there are differences. Health information begins with data which are items, observations
or raw facts. Data, when collected, does not necessarily have to be understood by the person gathering
it. It is simply a collection of facts (Davis Lacour, 2014, p. 33). In order to understand the various data
that is collected it must be organized. The goal in doing this is to provide information. Data refers to
the units of observation while information is data that has been organized, making it useful (Davis
Lacour, 2014, p. 34). When a patient is hospitalized, if his/her temperature is taken and simply listed
in a vertical line that information is useless to anyone who looks at the list. There is nothing that
explains what the numbers represent, let alone help a provider with patient care. When organized with
dates and times, along with the appropriate notation of Fahrenheit or Celsius, the data becomes
information and important in the provider s treatment of the patient. Health data is not only used by
medical providers. It is also used by facility administrators, lawyers, payers, and government agencies.
Facility administrators use data to plan strategically regarding what types of services they will offer.
Lawyers use health data to show the type and extent of injuries suffered by their clients. Payers, like
Medicare, Medicaid and other insurances,

The Three Elements on Why People Commit a Crime
The Three Elements on Why People Commit a Crime There are many different meanings of crime and
many different reasons people commit crimes. In the United States, defense lawyers try to prove their
clients did not know what they were doing when they committed the crime and the prosecution tries to
prove the defendant did know what they were doing when they committed the crime. However, the
prosecution must have the elements of a crime, which means state of facts to prove someone guilty.
The prosecution lawyers and the defense lawyers use elements of a crime for the defendant. The
following are examples of elements of a crime: mens rea, autus reus, concurrence of actus renus and
mens rea. All of these can be used as elements of a crime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, the defendant does not mean to commit a crime. Perhaps they were in defending
themselves or maybe it was it accident. Finally, all three elements of a crime can be used in a criminal
case. For example, Jacob Simmon believes that he will be charged with several crimes (Hames Eken,
2009) Jacob Simmon threw a beer bottle and hit someone. Simmon did not mean to hurt the man. All
three elements of a crime were used: mens rea was used because he was reckless, actus reus was used
because he was not forced to throw the bottle and hit the guy. Concurrence of the actus reus and mens
rea was used even though he did not mean hurt the man he still can be charged with a crime. (Hames
Eken, 2009) In the United States a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. Prosecution lawyers and
defense lawyers must prove why the defendant committed the crime, or if they did commit a crime. A
prosecution cannot charge someone with a crime unless they can prove someone committed a crime.
Therefore, they use the three elements of a crime. They used mens rea, actus reus, concurrence of the
actus reus and mens rea. They can use all three elements of a crime in a criminal case. These three
elements of a crime will help to see why the defendant

  • 2. Analysis Of The Cask Of Amontillado In The Cask of Amontillado Montresor lived for fifty years after killing Fortunato and he narrates the events of the story coldly and that leads some to wonder whether or not Montresor has changed and if he has changed how did he change. Over the fifty years between the events of The Cask Of Amontillado and the time when Montresor narrates the story, time changed Montresor into a guilty and shamed man that may have PTSD. The plot is simple Montresor has been insulted by Fortunato and he wants revenge so he leads Fortunato into a crypt, kills him and tells the story fifty years later. The story takes place in the eighteen hundred during the Carnaval. The story starts with Montresor claiming that Fortunato had injured him a thousand times, ... While approaching the end of their journey they approach the end of the crypt where there was another smaller crypt where three of the four walls were lined with human remains and the fourth wall had the bones thrown down onto the floor causing a mound to form and with the bones removed an interior room could be seen. Montresor then tells Fortunato that the Amontillado is in the interior room so Fortunato enters the room only to be stupefied by the lack of Amontillado. Then Montresor pushes him onto the wall and chains him to the iron staples, after that Montresor leaves the room and picks up some stone and mortar from the pile of bones and starts to wall in Fortunato, once Montresor finishes, he covers the wall with the bones it is revealed that Montresor is narrating the story fifty years after the fact and that no one has ever disturbed the bones for fifty years. During the time Montresor is telling the story, he could be suffering from PTSD. While diagnosing whether Montresor has PTSD is impossible, he probably does have PTSD since killing can cause PTSD in most humans who kill and the only people who don t are psychopaths and sociopaths. • 3. Hurdle And Gerrit Cole In Major League Baseball Imagine it is the final game of the Major League Baseball (MLB) season in the seventh inning of an interleague game between the National League (NL) Pittsburgh Pirates and the American League (AL) Toronto Blue Jays. Gerrit Cole is pitching for the hometown Pirates and is having an exceptional game, allowing only one unearned run. The Jays lead 1 0 and Gerrit Cole is up next to bat. The question then for General Manager, Clint Hurdle, is whether to pinch hit for him in exchange for a better hitter, or to leave him in the game so he can continue to pitch. If only there was a way to keep Cole in the game, while having someone like Pedro Alvarez; a non everyday starter who can hit the ball, pinch hit and give their team the best chance to win ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What it comes down to is the difference between the need to do something and the option to do something. None other than Bill James, a widely known baseball writer, noted that the perceived strategy is actually very trite, predictable, and actually nonstrategic. Instead of manager s deciding on what substitution, or lack thereof, can give their team an advantage, they are forced with situations in which they must bunt, must pinch hit, and must double switch. As James notes, the American League game allows a true option, and thus true strategy. This means that whatever AL managers decide to do when it comes to offensive batting substitutions, they do so to benefit their team, not because they are forced to do so (Meehan, 2013). These substitutions, including the commonly used double switch where a pinch hitter is substituted for the pitcher and the next inning is substituted again for a relief pitcher, take up time in the game. It is significantly a problem in the MLB where the longevity and the slow pace of the game has caused many fans to get bored sitting through a full nine innings. Especially with the addition of instant replay, the game continues to get longer and it has become a challenge for many fans to watch an entire game. Brian Costa, sports reporter for the Wall Street Journal, wrote an article about the reasons for the length and slow pace of the game. He mentions that it has become normal for fans to complain about hitters stepping out of the batter s box, pitchers pacing around the mound and pitching changes. Red Sox Chief Operating Officer Sam Kennedy even states that this problem is one of the most critical issues facing baseball as we move forward into the next three, five, seven years (Costa, 2014). • 5. The Collegiate Athletic Association Of College Athletics The NCAA continues to prohibit payment to its student athletes, while its member universities continue to seek new ways to increase revenue from the athlete s accomplishments. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is the nonprofit governing body of college athletics. The primary task of the NCAA is to oversee the actions of all student athletes and universities to verify that both parties abide by the rules and regulations within the principles of amateurism, defined by the Association. However, the NCAA has been ruthlessly exploiting the athlete s talents in the hopes of maximizing profits. The NCAA and its member universities carry little concern regarding the success of student athletes, currently; their priorities have become profit oriented. In the rapidly growing industry of College Athletics, a one sided business relationship has evolved between colleges and student athletes. Former University of Connecticut basketball standout Shabazz Napier has recalled his experience as a collegiate athlete in a statement: there have been hungry nights where I m not able to eat, and yet I m still forced to play to the best of my abilities. After I noticed my jersey being sold I felt like I should get something in return. [1] The aforementioned Napier has spent, on average 43.3 hours per week on sports related activities [2]. With copious amounts of time dedicated towards the sport of basketball, he lacked the ability to seek employment at a professional job. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Dilma Rousseff s Impeachment In Brazil The current event I choose is about Brazil s impeachment movement towards President Dilma Rousseff. The reason why Dilma Rousseff is facing impeachment is because a large portion of Brazil population blame Dilma Rousseff for the scandal involving the oil giant Petrobras. The scandal involving the oil giant Petrobras is also known as the Car Wash Investigation that occur behind her back and has now weaken her authority of the government. Many believe that congress is trying to look after themselves because of the Car Wash Investigation and blaming everything on Rousseff for what happen and claiming that she could have used the money for her pass reelection and no one would know but her. When congress voted to impeach Rousseff and she did not stand a chance losing by a landslide now the senate where they will check on whether congress vote is true or not deny the impeachment. The reason why I choose this current event is because it reflects back on the reading called Never Meant to Survive by John H Costa Vargas. In the reading Vargas talks about Brazil myth. According to the existing myth, Brazil is a polity characterized by the relative unimportance of race both as a cognitive moral category and as a determinant of one s structural social position (104). In other words, what Vargas is saying that Brazil is still based on a social hierarchy and how the power stays within the same social class. When congress got caught with the scandal behind Rousseff back they blamed everything on her to sustain the power. Brazil is known for having hundreds of Favelas where poverty is at its extreme. As talked in class the rich and elite earned money are not invested in poor society, but rather back to themselves or somewhere elsewhere. • 7. Paradox Of Meno And Meno The Paradox of Inquiry is also known as Meno s Paradox, there are a few interpretations to this dialogue which can appear to be quite challenging to understand. In the Paradox, Socrates and Meno are inquiring into the term virtue and what the definition of virtue might be. Socrates postulates three possible options of acquiring knowledge in the Meno; finding out for yourself, learning from someone else or by a divine inspiration. My thesis is that ....... Meno questions Scorates about how he will search for virtue and know what it is MENO: How will you look for it Socrates, when you don t know at all what it is? How will you aim to search for something you do not know at all? If you should meet with it, how will you know that this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, knowledge does dissolve the paradox and belief doesn t according to Socrates. Pre existing knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information. Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own. Therefore, we have pre existing information in our souls and it is only a matter of remembering past information. It may seem as though Socrates dissolved the paradox of inquiry ... It achieved similar gross profit margin but got a poor performance on overall net income at 1% because it suffered from high expenditure on SG A in both retail and catalog operations which accounted for 37% of its total net sales. A huge part of American culture at the time was focused around these three things. Of the rock groups from this time period, the Beatles were by far the most influential. The British rock group was probably the most catalytic band in rock and roll history. The marmalade skies, cellophane flowers , and rocking horse people depicted in the song could represent the type of images a person might see under the influence of LSD. The world Lennon portrays with his lyrics is abstract, psychedelic, and dream like, very much akin to what a person would see on an acid trip. John Lennon claims that the connection is merely coincidental and that he had no intention of incorporating LSD into the song in any way. Lennon told reporters in a 1980 interview, it was purely unconscious that it came out to be LSDit s not an acid song (Ultimate). Despite Lennon s pleas of innocence, it was a well known fact at the time that the Beatles were experimenting with LSD. Present the optimal results of a well prepared and well delivered performance appraisal. *If the company establishes a well prepared and well delivered performance appraisal, what are the best results the company can expect? (employee prospective and company perspective are good here) Performance appraisals are a tool that most companies use when assessing their employees. It will hurt the chances of maximizing gains for both the company and the employee if the following activities are not done beforehand. The most important thing when it comes to being ready for the performance appraisal is being well prepared. The manager needs to make sure that he sets aside enough time to perform the pre appraisal activities. These activities include establishing a time for the appraisal and relating it to the employee, making sure to lay out all new and old goals for the employee, giving the employee an advance copy of the review, collecting the employee s review of themselves, and collecting all notes taken that may validate your points and emphasize your decisions as well as the last performance appraisal. It is important to make sure that the employee has enough time to prepare for the appraisal. This allows for quality feedback from them and will also lead to quality questions. In order to make it the most beneficial appraisal possible, then both sides need to be well prepared. Barnbaum) This form of plagiarism is what I think a lot of people do because they may agree with another person s thoughts and then want to make it in to their own so they will change a few words around to make it sound like their own words. The third type of plagiarism I have found is called Style Plagiarism. (C. Barnbaum) This plagiarism is said to be the most common trap that students fall into. (C. Barnbaum) Even if you aren t copying word for word but the same sentence or paragraph order is followed then this would be plagiarism because this is considered taking the authors reasoning style. (C. Barnbaum) Plagiarism does not always mean copying information but it can also be stealing the writing format as well. I think this can be considered a trap because people think it s not okay to steal information but taking the order, outline, flow, or style it is written in is different but really it is still a form of plagiarism. The Iraq government dismisses the numbers that are published and those outside the country have no way to identify how many honor killings take place, if they are even recorded somewhere. According the Human Rights Watch, honor crimes are acts of violence, usually murder, committed by male family members against female family members who are perceived to have brought dishonor upon the family (Stop Violence Against Women). This is the exact law that is used in cases of the honor killings. The men who committed the crime will then receive a maximum of three years in jail, if they are caught, for the honor killing (Bayoumy). Honor killings are not just socially accepted they are also ignored, as though they are not occurring, by the law. In the case of Du a Khalil Aswad whose death, which was recorded on a cell phone camera, was posted on the media, in the video it can be seen that the police are just watching instead of helping (Four Years On). The police are citizens of Iraq and therefore they are taught the same values of the culture that people who participate in honor killings are taught. Because of that even the police view honor killings are acceptable and feel no need to step in to intervene. While women are trying to call question to this law, it is still in place because of the fact that honor is regarded as a high priority in Iraq and without honor killings there is no way to restore honor to a family name that has been dishonored. Social Aspects Of Islam Mohammed I have a feeling that talking about this rather sensitive topic will raise hell and will indeed upset many who actually deeply believe that their bloodline goes back to the Prophet of Islam Mohammed (PBUH). However, I strongly believe that it is about time that we talk about this phenomenon, which only congregate our ignorance and backwardness. Growing in a conservative and religious environment, many social aspects of life in Morocco did not make sense to my head, and my brain could and will never be able to digest how the vast majority of Moroccans, regardless their social status, believe that they have all a sacred lineage to the Holy House. They believe that their bloodline takes all the way back to the Prophet. This includes the rich and the poor, the educated and the illiterate; they all claim some type of holiness and show it off when opportunities occur and permit. In a previous analysis, I talked about how Islam has been widely and abusively used throughout Moroccan history to gain power and wealth. This has been proven and recorded in history books. Each ruling dynasty used the banner of religion to overthrow the declining and fading dynasty. When Islam was introduced to humanity, it introduced a doctrine, which promotes a social equality and called for abolishing of social differences. Islam praises those who do good deeds and abide by the Divine rules set by the Deity and His Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). There is no single verse in the Holy Koran that praises a ... Dreamland literally has opiate in the title while one can simply read the back cover to discover this fact. Both styles were similar due to both being written in small parts. The Other Wes Moore splits both Moore s stories in the same chapter with a creative title describing both stories. For example, the chapter Foreign Ground describes a new environment for both boys. The one began a new school where he doesn t fit in while the other moves to a new home. Both of these are a step up from where they were before. Known as the Bengal Famine, an estimated 4 million people died of hunger that year in eastern India (which included today s Bangladesh). Initially, this catastrophe was attributed to an acute shortfall in food production in the area. However, Indian economist Amartya Sen (recipient of the Nobel Prize for Economics, 1998) has established that while food shortage was a contributor to the problem, a more potent factor was the result of hysteria related to World War II, which made food supply a low priority for the British rulers. Gun Control Under Control Essay Gun Control Under Control Whenever a shooting happens, such Columbine, the Aurora Theater Shooting, or the Navy Yard shooting, the question of gun control comes up in politics again. If people are not willing to make guns safer, which is obviously the case, then there should be gun controls. . Imagine how many of these accidental deaths could be prevented if guns can be kept out of the hands of children and the careless. These included: more than 17,800 homicides; more than 18,700 suicides; more than 1,300 unintentional, firearms related deaths related to firearms (Facts 1). Some of the worst crimes are committed with guns. For example, the shooting at Columbine which Americans heard about on the news in 1999. Two teenagers shot and killed twelve students and one teacher at their own school (Facts 1). The boys were later thought to be mentally ill, as with many of the people who commit shooting such as this. The intention is to stop smoking so the viewers can spend as much time as possible with their kids. The Revolutionary War was an major event that helped us as Americans gain the freedom and independence we have today. The Revolutionary War also helped sparked the Declaration of Independence. The Revolutionary War just didn t happen out of the blue, of course their were some causes. The French and Indian War of 1763 left the British with a massive war debt. The British raised the revenue by imposing new taxes in the colonies without the colonists approval. However the imposement of the Proclamation of 1763 introduced a massive boundary to separate white settlements from Indian country. Americans assumed the British joined the Native Americans to go against the colonists. The Quartering Act of 1765 was an unfair act that required the colonists to house and supply British soldiers. Misrepresented On The Internet Danny Toffey Consci 2910 December 5, 2017 Final Essay In our current world, there are many different consumer problems that are taking place at an increasing rate. These issues are occurring through a wide range of services from retail service consumer problems, auto consumer problems, credit consumer problems, and many more. The one consumer problem that has caught my attention on multiple occasions this year would be Internet Fraud as a whole, especially on social media. The Internet has rapidly become something that is widely used by many people all over the nation and world, sweeping and striping our societies of money. People now run companies, and businesses through social media as well. Many occasions have taken place where things are misrepresented on the Internet, and that s typically how fraud takes place. Internet sales and fraud can be shown through online ordering. There have been multiple cases where a buyer would purchase a product online and unfortunately the item is never delivered to the purchaser. One consumer problem that has been occurring repeatedly this year to my notice would be the times that people have paid for something that they aren t receiving. There have been many cases where people order a particular product, or item online with expectancy of a delivery, and they never get it. One particular example of a consumer problem that comes to my attention has been the amount of ticketing fraud that occurs through many different websites online. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the risk is too great and a feeling of uneasiness sets in on Wall Street, investors may begin to sell that firm s stock, dropping the market price per share and possibly the value of the firm itself. The reasoning? Simple: if the price of the share decreases, then there is a possibility that when the time came for a favorable risk adjustment, investors would be paying a lower price per share than the firm is really worth. The amount of equity that they would receive from their outstanding shares would decrease. Also, if the tax rates rise and the company has been deemed riskier than before, some insiders may begin to sell their shares of the firm. When this hits the market, it sends a negative signal to investors to sell, which will dump excessive shares onto the market. Conversely, if the degree of risk is not in excessive measures, investors might purchase more shares in hopes that the increased risk will yield a higher rate of return; a classic example of the risk return trade off. Along with market performance, a firm may need to adapt its financial activities as well. These activities all relate to the way the firm is organized, in particular, its capital structure. Judging by reality as well as literature it seems that no person like that has ever existed. It appears that it is human nature to want to pronounce others as either purely good or evil. But does everyone fit into the mold of good or evil? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, Meursault is a morally ambiguous character, and this ethical indistinctness plays a major part in the novel as a whole and the theme that Camus is trying to portray. This sheds light on the overall theme of the novel, that of people being cast out of society because their views and methods do not line up with the accepted ways of society. The same moral ambiguity is also present in Meursault s murder of the Arab and the ensuing trial. As far as absolute morality goes, the murder is without question an act that falls on the evil side of ethics. That point is not a topic for debate, but in the reasons behind it the reader can find even more of Meursault s moral ambiguity. At the time, he does not seem to know why he is doing what he is doing, but it is certainly not out of spite or malice, nor out of any specific hatred of the Arab himself. He could be harboring a grudge on behalf of his friend, which would be understandable, since Raymond is one of the only people we see Meursault truly connect with in the novel, if it can even be called that. In contrast, nature operates in a free flowing manner, with its greenery tangled in abundance and lacking any type of structure. The plants become riotous and gnarly to actively resist attempts to be subordinated by the garden, and the main character s observation of this conveys her desire to revolt, even though she cannot express her displeasure in a communicable language. The main character s envy of the plants makes this symbol even more powerful, as the greenery represents where she seeks to be: in a position where she can fight her oppressors by being openly nonconformist. GH has come to the forefront in the sports world for doping and anti aging promoters. In adults, the most prominent effects of GH are decreased fat mass and increased lean body mass. The increase in lean body mass is associated with increased protein synthesis, muscle mass, and muscle function (1). GH plays an important role in the linear development of bone growth in children and adolescents. After the body stops growing, GH levels decrease dramatically and remain low throughout the remainder of adult life (2). GH is a single chain peptide with 191 amino acids that is stabilized by two disulfide bridges. The molecular weight is 22,000 Daltons (3). GH 1 and GH 2 are genes for GH that are located on chromosome 17 in the q22 24 region (4). GH secretion is regulated by growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH). GHRH is a peptide released from the hypothalamus that stimulates the release of GH. The hypothalamus also secretes somatostatin, which inhibits the release of GH through back regulation. GHRH and somatostatin are released from the hypothalamus through the hypophyseal portal and are transported to the anterior pituitary. As my son once said to his older brother, Just say you understand so he ll shut up. Diana Baumrind (1966, 1967, 1978) decided to find out the answers to those questions by determining what effect parenting styles, as interactions between the two dimensions of parental acceptance and control, had on children s social and intellectual competence. To start with, Baumrind identified four distinct parenting styles: neglectful, permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative. Neglectful parenting is a style in which the parent is very uninvolved in the child s life. These parents seem to focus more on their own lives and are not particularly involved with or supportive of their children. They appear to be detached from the child and provide only for their basic physical and emotional needs and not much else. Group Counseling For Widowed Men Essay Group Counseling For Widowed Men Over Sixty Years For a long time the debate has waged on as to what is the best means for those grieving or the bereaved to cope with the pain and loss of their situation. Though most people opt for the medical approach where they consult a medical professional, there have been those who argue for another different approach that is the use of support groups. This is a term used to refer to counseling frameworks where the grieving are grouped into units composed of several participants from a minimum of four to twelve depending on the number of participants and issue or problem similarity. Support groups are a place where the bereaved can find a safe haven for them to not only express their emotions but also it creates a platform for them to further understand their symptoms of grief the various stages of the grief and mostly provides the opportunity to feel a connection to people who are in a similar position which aids them in coping better with the loss of their loved one (Hospice of the Comforter, 2016). It can be claimed that there are two opinions on this subject. On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA 1979 and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with s.21(1) gives no property to Ronaldo. On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his previous transaction with Maurice. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin had already sold the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the re sale, then no such issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two parties which means that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a third person has the title of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin and Maurice since he acted in good faith. Accordingly, under s.43(1)(b) Maurice s rights on the cargo cease to exist, since Ronaldo lawfully obtained the bill of lading by Benjamin. In support of his statement s.47(2)(a) also provides that no lien, retention or stoppage can be exercised on the consignment. To sum up, since the action against Benjamin was effected after Ronaldo had acquired the title of the goods, Maurice had no right on the cargo. 8. • 35. Pausanias Idea Of Love In Plato s Symposium Eros, the God of Love, was held in high respect throughout all of ancient Greece due to Love s contributions to the culture and relationships amongst individuals. However, in Plato Symposium, each guest has their own unique perspective on the role Eros plays. Among those gathered at the Symposium, speeches are offered with anything from exalting words of praise to honest words of criticisms. Pausanias and Agathon, guests at the symposium, are romantic partners, each with their own views on Love. Pausanias idea of Love is based off the idea that there are two different types of Love, and he emphasizes the importance of intent and virtue. Pausanias says People are right to condemn the hasty and immoral demands which the vulgar lover makes upon his prey, (Plato, 181e 182a). His belief that lust for physical pleasure is beyond the bounds of being morally justified and therefore believes that consequences should be welcomed. Pausanias places value on the idea of intellectual growth between Lovers and therefore opposes his formed concept of Common Love. In addition to criticizing the undiscriminating nature of Common Love, Pausanias criticizes Heavenly Love s tendency to instill in individuals the attraction to young boys. However, Pausanias does justify this variation of Love by explaining that a prospering relationship can come from Heavenly Love due to the naive nature of young boys being allowed to be nurtured mentally by somebody more mature with virtue and merit. But in direct opposition, Pausanias also expresses how he vehemently opposes those individuals who take advantage of the young and unwise boys and women for a solely sexual relationship. Through these criticisms, he is proposing that Love isn t always honorable. Pausanias states that Love, in and of itself, is neither honorable nor disgraceful, since its character and quality must be determined by the way in which it is carried out (Plato, 183d). He is expressing that Love alone can not be characterized as being entirely good or entirely bad but the intent and way love is conveyed must also be taken into consideration when judging ... Important Aspects Of A Functioning Classroom Through this past semester, we have heavily discussed the important aspects of a functioning classroom, from different theorists to helpful teaching techniques. We ve debated what it means to be a great teacher. There are quite a few flaws in our education system today, but I believe most of the theories we discussed could be accorporated much more in the classroom. John Dewey, Friedrich Froebel, Maria Montessori, and Lev Vygotsky all understood the way children think and the importance of imaginative play. They also understood that children need to be active in nature. Also, we have discussed different forms of learning, such as project based learning, and outdoor classrooms. In my opinion, the education system should have minor changes that benefit the students more. Despite the various flaws, schools are extremely important for students especially on a social stand point. They can be around children their own age and interact in various scenarios. Socializing is important for children of all ages, it helps them develop listening skills, communication skills, how to share, how to work in groups, and compromise. Every interaction a child has is a learning experience. They learn what is right or wrong and how to communicate appropriately, social interaction plays a key role in cognitive development. Lev Vygotsky was a cognitive theorist who believed social interaction and imaginative play were critical in child development. Imaginative play is actually a complex process ... Social Security Number Of An Individual Social Security Number of an Individual The number one priority would be to keep the SSN confidential, this information does not need to be accessed by most individuals. Behind that integrity would be the next priority, to make sure this matches up with the individual at hand. Third of course would have to be availability, without this information, it could prove to be difficult to verify someones identity. First Name and Last Name I feel that all of these attributes serve the same level of importance, due to the fact there is no description of what sort of situation this worksheet is in reference to. A lot of information can be had, just from a persons first and last name, especially if this name is not very common. Credit Card Number I also see credit card numbers as all holding the same level of importance. I feel this way because these numbers need to kept confidential to minimize the risk of theft. Integrity needs to be held for the fact that if these are manipulated, depending on the situation, refunds may be pushed to the wrong individuals bank account. And I feel availability is just as important for verification reasons. Qualification I feel that integrity in this care is the most important, for the fact that that these need to match up with the persons actual qualifications to prevent someone being placed in a position that may hold confidential information, when in fact they are not qualified to hold this type of information. Neuroplasticity In The Brain This editorial concerns an interesting paper, recently published in Acta Physiologica, showing evidence that the focus of attention internal or external during execution of a motor task can cause transient neuroplastic like responses in motor areas of the brain (Khun et al., 2016). Neuroplasticity refers to the capacity of the brain to reorganise itself in response to our experiences throughout life. Typically, changes to the organization of the brain come about to support brain function. For instance, after a spinal cord injury or stroke, the brain must adapt to allow functional recovery (Rao et al., 2016). The recognition that the brain must change to improve function has led to several attempts to boost neuroplasticity. Cutting edge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. Wisdom Of Humility In Antigone Humility is the antibiotic to almost every disease, yet throughout this semester I have witnessed many literary characters fall before they are cured. In East Coker, T.S. Eliot wrote, The only wisdom we hope to acquire/Is the wisdom of humility, humility is endless. I believe that many characters realized the benefits of humility, but some were in too deep to take advantage. Creon, Victor and Ivan come from different time periods, different languages, even different worlds but they all learned the powerful lesson of humility through their suffering and pain. Creon, the antagonist of Sophocles s play Antigone is a great example of a man who learns humility after causing mass destruction all around him. In the play, Creon is the King of Thebes and he is solely interested in political and social order. The previous King and Creon s brother, Oedipus died and his sons Eteocles and Polynices were suppose to rotate the throne. However, the brothers ended up killing each other in a duel which led to Creo taking power. Creon angered his niece Antigone when he allowed her brother Eteocles to be given proper funeral honors, but not her brother Polynices. The history of FOSS has a strong connection with the hackers in Massachusetts Institute of Technology. These hackers in 1970s created something ARPANET (known today as the internet). There were discussions to sell it commercially however the university and its hackers were strongly opposed to such an idea for they had worked with the ideology that sharing information is a virtue and they had a moral duty to provide knowledge to the world. These early hackers stayed true to this ideology and made their software completely free with the source code completely accessible. • 49. Data And Information On Health Information Management The terms data and information are often used interchangeably, however, with health information management, there are differences. Health information begins with data which are items, observations or raw facts. Data, when collected, does not necessarily have to be understood by the person gathering it. It is simply a collection of facts (Davis Lacour, 2014, p. 33). In order to understand the various data that is collected it must be organized. The goal in doing this is to provide information. Data refers to the units of observation while information is data that has been organized, making it useful (Davis Lacour, 2014, p. 34). When a patient is hospitalized, if his/her temperature is taken and simply listed in a vertical line that information is useless to anyone who looks at the list. There is nothing that explains what the numbers represent, let alone help a provider with patient care. When organized with dates and times, along with the appropriate notation of Fahrenheit or Celsius, the data becomes information and important in the provider s treatment of the patient. Health data is not only used by medical providers. It is also used by facility administrators, lawyers, payers, and government agencies.
