CHECKLIST
The Philippine ECD Checklist is a normed
developmental screening tool for three to five year
old Filipino children. It has a standard protocol for
administration and scoring. It provides significant
information about a child’s developmental status,
and aids the teacher in detecting possible
developmental delays.
WHAT
Assessment is done in 2 tiers. The Pre-test, which is
also considered formative assessment, is given at the
start of the school year. The second and last stage is
the Post test, which is given at the conclusion of the
school year and serves as the summative assessment.
During home visits and monitoring, the pre-test
results are validated, and some competences are
reassessed. The validation result will serve as a basis
for the post-test.
HOW
The assessment is significant because teachers
may identify the learners' profiles and guide
them to change the goals and learning
experiences to respond to their children's
particular needs. The results will also enable
teachers to decide whether students may
require further evaluation or special
intervention before entering the first grade.
WHY
RUBRICS
A rubric employs a scale to indicate the level of
mastery. Each assignment should include at least
three levels. The lowest level indicates that the child
is unable to complete the task. The highest level
denotes task mastery.
WHAT
In our District, we are using a Contextualized and
unified rubrics.
HOW
it is useful and convenient in a way that it
makes the process of assessment quicker and
easier since the skills and the standards are
already given for reference .
