Throughout the course of history,there have been many psychic occurrences. Some
people talk about having psychic powers or psychic abilities, such as having a sixth
sense. A sixth sense is a sense that is beyond the five physical senses touching, seeing,
smelling, hearing and tasting. The five senses are so common, most people do not
even notice they are using them. A sixth senseis often referred to as a metaphysical
ability, so in its most essential form, psychic power is knowing or seeing the future
before it happens. Although science has proven billions of facts, and has not
definitively proven its existence, that does not mean that it is not existent. There are
many different types of psychic abilities. Some abilities that have been reported in the

Grasslands across the United States have been badly degraded and cover just a
fraction of the area they once did (Withgott Laposata, 2013). The problem is most
apparent in the Southwest including Texas and the four corner states of Arizona,
Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico. There are several causes that have and continue to
degrade native grasslands in these areas. This paper will discuss a few of these
causes and explore ways to stop and reverse some of the damage.
In the more arid Southwest, livestock grazing has been a stable of the economy
since the days of Spanish settlers. Today, cattle and sheep are the two main
livestock grazed on public lands including on land managed by the BLM
(Milchunas, 2006). Due to the sensitive nature of arid grasslands, overgrazing is
one factor that has caused native grass populations including black grama, blue
grama, and sand dropseed, to greatly decrease while encouraging non native and
native invasive species to flourish. Examples of non natives species include tumble
weed and lovegrass (Milchunas, 2006). Examples of native species that have
become invasive in former grassland areas include broom snakeweed, mesquite, and
one seed juniper. The reduction in overall ground cover has also led to the reduced
moisture capacity of the soil and a removal of the more productive topsoil from both

the surface of the canvas. In Madonna and Child... the viewer does not perceive
that an image is being forced upon them as is found in the work by Giotto. A use
of light and space is also key to preventing the Puligo piece from being forced ,
where the organization of distance visibly removes the viewer from Madonna

Another failure in welfare reform is clear in the welfare to work reform that was

Biology 156 3T1 Abstract
This lab deals with the transpiration rates in plants, specifically a tomato plant that
was used for this experiment. Transpiration is when water leaves a plant through the
stomata as water vapor while the stomata is capturing CO2 for photosynthesis. This
experiment used three different scenarios: a tomato plant with a light shining on it, a
tomato plant with wind blowing on it from a fan, and lastly a tomato plant with
nothing acting on it. The hypothesis is that the rate of transpiration will be fastest
with light, faster with wind, and slow with the control. This hypothesis was rejected
because the rate of transpiration is as follows with the wind having the fastest rate:
with light the rate was 7.60 mm/min, with wind 10.20 mm/min, and control 4.33 mm
/min. The cause of the wind having a faster transpiration rate than the light may have
been due to the surface area of the leaves on the tomato plants. The surface area of the
leaves for the wind experiment is 8,124mm2, and for the light is 7,740mm2.By doing

diluting it to 200mL with deionized (DI) water. Then 9 200 mL volumetric flasks
were cleaned and labeled A I. Flasks B F were filled with exactly 2.00, 5.00, 10.00,
25.00, and 50.00 mL of the stock iron solution respectively. Flask A was used as a

Alice Walker and Maya Angelou are two contemporary African American writers.
Although almost a generation apart in age, both women display a remarkable
similarity in their lives. Each has written about her experiences growing up in the
rural South, Ms. Walker through her essays and Ms. Angelou in her autobiographies.
Though they share similar backgrounds, each has a unique style which gives to us, the
readers, the gift of their exquisite humanity, with all of its frailties and strengths, joys
and sorrows.

Confronted is a combative word. When people are confronted by others, they want to
launch an attack. Her style and choice of words make the reader aware that she is
alone and fearful. She is left to fight her battles by herself.
Maya Angelou narrates her account in a conversational tone. She uses the past tense
which tells her audience it s over for her. Her words are free from severity. They
encourage the reader to see hope in the midst of sadness. Instead of trying to elicit
a particular emotional response, Angelou invites her audience to share in her
thoughts and feelings. For instance, having given an account of the rape, she
writes, I thought I had died I woke up in a white walled world, and it had to be
heaven. The reader feels a connection with her pain, yet realizes redemption lies
close at hand. Whereas Walker tells how she was confronted by her parents,
Angelou explains, she [mother] picked me up in her arms and the terror abated for
a while. There is no impression of combativeness. There is only tenderness and care.
Once again, she invites the reader in. Walker wants the reader to feel for her;
Angelou wants her audience to feel with her. They achieve their objectives by
directing the reader s attention to specific emotions.
The emotional focus of Alice Walker s story is rage, red hot and isolating. As I read
