The stress of parenting as a distress experience in carrying out the demands of parenting role becomes greater experienced by the mother as the primary caregiver as a culture in Indonesia. Be grateful to be a strength-based intervention aimed at strengthening positive emotions and protecting individuals from psychological problems. This experimental study aims to test the effectiveness of gratitude in reducing maternal stress. The experimental design between subjects was selected by dividing the 70 mothers who had early childhood into two groups: the experimental and control group. The data analysis using 2 independent samples test with R statistic showed (p=.023; Cohen's d=.183), and Wilcoxon 2 related samples test (p=.0087) showed that gratitude training was effective to decrease maternal stress. Being grateful for a moral response based on personal reinforcement through thoughts, emotions, and positive and pleasant attitudes that then lead to the ability to give goodness to others. OPINION:
This point was brought up in a study in which a couple were facing problems in their relationship
due to the husband’s temper and anger issues. I believe that mindfulness is a great way to be
aware of your emotions and to avoid getting caught up in the heat of the moment. A lot of times,
arguments spiral out of control because of these rushes of emotions, and mindfulness can calm
you down before they occur.

more responsive, attentive, and open.
OPINION:
I think that once one spouse or family member is in a clear and calm headspace, their interactions
will be directly affected. The study showed the wife of the ill-tempered husband could instantly
notice changes in their interactions once he began meditating. Things that may seem little, such
as listening or thinking more before you respond, can actually make a large impact on
interpersonal communication.

In the workplace, in order to maintain respect between co-workers, it is important to mindfully
handle conflict using “adult-adult communication”.
OPINION:
It can be easy to talk down to someone when you think you know best or to put yourself on a
different level than them. Especially in the workplace, it is important to approach conflict on a
level playing field and be mindful of their perspective and ideas. Adult-adult communication can
be described as a mature way of interacting. Showing respect by mindfully being aware of who
you are speaking to is very beneficial in the workplace.

The experimental design between subjects was selected by dividing the 70 mothers who had early childhood into two groups: the experimental and control group. The data analysis using 2 independent samples test with R statistic showed (p=.023; Cohen's d=.183), and Wilcoxon 2 related samples test (p=.0087) showed that gratitude training was effective to decrease maternal stress. Being grateful for a moral response based on personal reinforcement through thoughts, emotions, and positive and pleasant attitudes that then lead to the ability to give goodness to others. The findings of this study become interesting when examined also from the social context such as the existence of social support where the attitude of gratitude is related to it.TFP Trifold

Emotion is defined as a rapid appraisal of the personal significance of a situation that prepares us for action. When you experience something that is personally relevant, there is physiological response in your body that causes a behavioral response. If you get into an argument, someone you love smiles at you, or you accomplish a challenging task, you feel a surge of emotion. Your behavioral responses to your emotions is part of what makes you unique!
EMOTIONS DEFINED
Theorists with a functionalist approach to emotion believe that emotions play an integral role in cognitive processing, social behavior, and physical health. They believe that the purpose of emotions is to motivate behavior aimed at accomplishing personal goals. If you have a goal in mind, the anticipation of the outcome, as well as the outcome itself, triggers emotions that help dictate your response. As an individual interacts with his or her environment and situations change, emotions change.
We see how cognition and emotions work together when we consider the impact of anxiety on performance. When anxiety levels rise, thinking skills are often impacted, as attention given to mental processing is now occupied with thoughts of worry. In addition, children who become distressed tend to better recall that particular experience, showing emotion is linked to memory. We also previously learned that two childhood growth disorders, nonorganic failure to thrive and psychosocial dwarfism, result from emotional deprivation.

It focuses on teaching children not just what but also why. Positive parenting means training children towards self-control.
According to Caley Arsamarski, who is a proponent of positive parenting and psychologist specializing in child therapy, positive parenting essentially encourages parents to "catch kids being good" and give more positive feedback instead of always focusing on bad-behaviour.Mental health issues are health conditions involving changes in emotions, thinking or behaviour ( or a combination of these). They are associated with distress or problems functioning in social, work of family activities.

OPINION:
This point was brought up in a study in which a couple were facing problems in their relationship
due to the husband’s temper and anger issues. I believe that mindfulness is a great way to be
aware of your emotions and to avoid getting caught up in the heat of the moment. A lot of times,
arguments spiral out of control because of these rushes of emotions, and mindfulness can calm
you down before they occur.

The mindfulness of one family member has a direct effect on other members as they become
more responsive, attentive, and open.
OPINION:
I think that once one spouse or family member is in a clear and calm headspace, their interactions
will be directly affected. The study showed the wife of the ill-tempered husband could instantly
notice changes in their interactions once he began meditating. Things that may seem little, such
as listening or thinking more before you respond, can actually make a large impact on
interpersonal communication.

In the workplace, in order to maintain respect between co-workers, it is important to mindfully
handle conflict using “adult-adult communication”.
OPINION:
It can be easy to talk down to someone when you think you know best or to put yourself on a
different level than them. Especially in the workplace, it is important to approach conflict on a
level playing field and be mindful of their perspective and ideas. Adult-adult communication can
be described as a mature way of interacting. Showing respect by mindfully being aware of who
you are speaking to is very beneficial in the workplace.

It takes about 6 seconds for the cortex and limbic system to become in sync with one another
which means there is time for the limbic system to “emotionally hi-jack” your brain.

Optimizing Brain Development
The first few years of a child’s life are critical for healthy brain development. Brain development begins during the prenatal period and continues through early childhood. Although the brain continues to develop into adulthood, the first eight years builds the foundation for learning and success (CDC, 2021). Brain development depends on many factors such as, prenatal care, experiences, and exposures to toxins and infections. “Nurturing and responsive care for the child’s body and mind is the key to supporting healthy brain development” (CDC, 2021). Positive and negative experiences help shape a child’s brain.
How the brain grows is highly affected by the child’/ s experiences with people and the world. Children depend on interactions with parents and their caregivers to be responsive to their needs. Children thrive in environments where they can explore and play in a safe environment. Their needs ought to be met and not neglected. They do not need to be exposed to stress. As a parent and/or caregiver to support healthy brain development you can constantly talk to the child, read to your child, meet their needs, and offer them a safe place to explore and play. Speaking and reading to children increase their language and communication skills. “Nurturing a child by understanding their needs and responding sensitively helps to protect children’s brains from stress” (CDC, 2021). Exposure to stress can negatively affect brain development. When children are at risk, it can cause them a delay in accomplishing developmental milestones. They will distrust people if their needs are not constantly being met.
This topic is important to me because in the school that I work at we have a high population of students who needs are not being met. When they get into the classroom, before I can teach them anything I have to meet their needs whether it be feeding them or giving them extra attention. I have even gone as far to buy clothes and shoes for students. This affected the students’ learning. They were usually the ones that were below grade level in the classroom. When having conversations with the parents, they want better for their children but did have the resources or just did not know.
I will need support from pediatricians, early childhood educators, and counselors to help inform parents and caregivers about the importance of brain development and optimizing brain development.

Mentalizing refers to understanding one's own and others' behaviors in the context of underlying mental states like desires, feelings, beliefs. High parental reflective function is associated with secure child attachments and better child outcomes. Infant and early childhood mental health focuses on the developing relationship between a child and caregiver from birth to age 3. It aims to support healthy social-emotional development, not diagnose psychopathology. Relationship-based practices view early relationships as fundamental to growth and target services to nurture family bonds. Infant mental health professionals employ comprehensive, intensive relationship-based approaches through concrete support, emotional support, advocacy, developmental guidance, parent-infant psychotherapy, and reflective supervision.

This document summarizes a study that examined the relationship between personality factors and stress levels among parents of mentally sub-normal children. 150 parents aged 35-55 years completed questionnaires measuring their personality using the 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire and their stress levels using a 30-item stress scale. Results found that 7 of the 16 personality factors (A, B, E, F, H, O, Q4) were significantly related to higher stress scores in parents. Benefits of mindful parenting
- 1. BENEFITS OF MINDFUL PARENTING Dr.Molly Joy Professor and Head, Department of Psychology , Kristu Jayanti College Bangalore
- 2. Mindful Parenting: Mindful parenting can be defined as “paying attention to your child and your parenting in a particular way: intentionally, here and now, and non-judgmentally” (Kabat-Zinn., 1997). The potential benefit of incorporating mindful parenting improves parent-child communication, parenting satisfaction. It reduces symptoms of hyperactivity, aggression, lowers feelings of depression, stress and anxiety. Promotes more parental involvement overall and makes parenting feel as if it takes less effort. The parent is more aware of their feeling and thought and more aware and responsive of the child’s needs, thoughts, and feelings. The parents become better at regulating their emotions, become less critical of themselves and their child. Parents become better at standing back from situation and avoiding impulsive reactions and overall improve relationship with their children. (Jill C.,2017)

- 4. Conclusion Many studies suggest that Mindful Parenting is an acceptable and feasible intervention in mental health care. Mindful Parenting appears promising new intervention for parents in mental health care, as it seems effective on a broad range of child, parent, and family variables., higher levels of child behavior problems were associated with more severe parental depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms and stress and lower levels of mindful parenting. (Michelle B., Lynn W., Kathryn M.,2013)
