This document describes the development and innovation of The Incredible Years programs over 38 years. It began in the 1980s as a video-based parenting program developed by Carolyn Webster-Stratton to prevent and treat childhood behavioral problems. Over time, programs were added for teachers and children based on research findings. Training methods and program content were refined based on randomized controlled trials. Dissemination efforts in the 2000s included accrediting therapists and providing ongoing coaching and consultation to ensure program fidelity. The Incredible Years programs have been adapted and tailored over time to meet the needs of diverse populations while maintaining core components through a collaborative process of delivery and evaluation.
