This document provides instructions for a classroom game called "Beat the Clock" where students earn more points for correctly guessing a keyword within 12 seconds. The teacher selects a keyword and picture to insert into a slide. Two point values are layered so the higher value is revealed if guessed on time, and the lower value appears if time runs out. The teacher clicks enter to start the clock and students raise hands to guess. Clicking enter or the outta time button reveals the answer and advances the slide.

8. Step 1: Duplicate X number of blank slides 1st!
Step 2:
Select and re-type your key word here.
Step 3:
Click once on the white circle.
From the ‘Shape Fill’ menu, choose ‘Picture…’
from the drop-down menu.
Navigate to the folder to find the picture
you want to insert – double-click on it and
it should appear in the circle.
9. Note: When inserting pictures into the circle, images that have approximately the same height and
width work best. If you have an image that is disproportionate, place it onto your slide and crop it.
To crop, double-click on the picture &
the ‘Crop’ tool will appear.
You’ll see “cropping handles”
on the image – click on a handle to
crop the image to the proportion
you wish.
Next, right-click on your cropped picture
and choose ‘Save as Picture…’ to save it,
preferably to the folder where your other
project images reside. Then, repeat
Step 3.
10. Step 4:
Click on both the picture circle AND the
background while holding down the >Shift<
key.
Right-click and choose ‘Send to Back –
Send to Back’.
Step 5:
Change the point values (higher score if a student answers within
12 seconds, lower score after 12 seconds) – you can increase the
value as the words or pictures become progressively more difficult.
Step 6:
Move the higher-point score card directly over the
lower-point card and you’re ready. Remember, for
more slides, duplicate the number you need BEFORE
making any changes, i.e. duplicate blank slides.
11. Playing The Game
To start the clock, simply click >Enter< on your keyboard or wireless presenter. Students begin
raising their hands when they think they can guess the key word.
If a student answers correctly within 12 seconds, just press >Enter< to reveal the answer before
time is up. If time runs out, allow students to continue guessing. When the correct answer is
given, click on the “Outta Time: button in the upper left corner
of the slide. (The point value will change automatically)
To go to the next question/slide, click on the “NEXT” button
that appears in the upper left corner of the slide after the
answer is revealed. The “GAME OVER” slide is optional…
HAVE FUN!
