“G level” deficiencies. As a result, the facility became deficiency free and

PINpoint Project Manager
As an associate was responsible for directing the development, implementation,
and execution of the PINpoint project a national pressureulcer prevention project
conjointly with Ross/Abbott Laboratories and Survey Solutions.
The project was based on National Pressure Ulcer in Long-Term Care Study
(NPULS) research project in 109 major clinical sites which established
prevention protocols: pressure management, incontinence prevention,
incontinence management, and nutrition management.
Focus was on training nursing staff in LTC facilities nationally on procedures
involving pressure ulcer prevention. Residents identified at risk were based on:
MDS/RAPS, Braden Scale, former AHCPR guidelines, and physicals.
Accomplishments:
Designed an “implementation tool” that assisted in obtaining
prePINpoint data which identified who was applicable for the project via
site visits assuring proper tool usage. Assessmentof post-PINpoint data
demonstrated the effectiveness of pressure ulcer prevention measures,
quality of care provided residents, and survey /legal cost savings to LTC
facilities.
Supervised PINpoint Coordinators in scheduling trainings and providing
feedback to Ross representatives and managers in “newly” developed
PINpoint database computer system.
Evaluated performance skills of PINpoint trainers and critique of
program materials supporting maintenance of quality of the program
