3.  Communication barriers:
They are anything that
hinders the process of communication.
=>They can be define as the aspects or
conditions that interfere with the effective
exchange of ideas or thoughts.
=>Specific items that can prevents or distort
communication within the organization.

4.  Language: language is the way through
which we can share our ideas, thoughts and
feelings very effectively.
 If language is not same then you feel very
difficulty in communication. Barriers can exist,
not only among individuals who do not speak
the same language, but even between two or
more people with the same native tongue.
Terminology, including the use of jargon.

5.  Language barriers also occur due to
semantic gap.
 Semantic gaps are words having similar
pronunciation but multiple meanings

6.  Psychological or Emotional: It occur when a
person is not able to communicate effectively
because the effectiveness of communication
is hindered by his or her emotions.
 A person who is angry, or under a significant
amount of stress may cause
misinterpretation. When you are in high
emotional state, you are more reactive. So
when you are in high emotional state take
some time before communicating.

7.  The Physical: Physical barriers occur when
a physical object turns into the barrier.
Example: Walls, Noise, Doors, distance
etc.
 Barrier of geographic distance can also
distort meaning. Generally,
communication is more effective over
short distances.
 However, modern technology is helpful in
reducing such barriers.

8.  Perceptual: They may not actually exist in
physical form, but the barriers do exist in the
mind of the person perceiving a situation.
 As we know we all came from different
backgrounds and we all have different belief
and thoughts. In short, every person is
unique. So when the person who tries to
share something with you (information) that
make sense in his mind but receiver has
another perception that’s where confusion
happen.

9.  Status Barrier: It occur when there is
difference in status at workplace because of
which communication is effected.
 Example: When you want to meet a high
status person urgently but you can’t.
 Fear Barrier: If communication gets distorted
due to elements of fear.
 Example: In an interview you get nervous.
Presenting something in class.

10.  Systematic barriers within an organization, such
as inefficient communication channels, can be a
major barrier to effective communication.
 Environment Barrier: These barriers occur when
any element of environment intercept the
communication process.
 For example: When you are in a public place or
in a crowd and don’t want to talk about anything
personal. When unwanted sound disturb your
communication


11.  Cultural barrier: When cultural differences
hinder the communication and make it
ineffective.
 For example: If chinese do greeting to Indian,
that’s where cultural barrier occur.
 Age, education, gender, social status,
economic position, cultural background,
temperament, health, beauty, popularity,
religion, political belief, ethics, values, motives,
assumptions, aspirations, rules/regulations,
standards, priorities can separate one person
from another and create a barrier.

12.  A sign of a good communicator is one who
ask questions and listen before he speaks.
These steps ensure that the receiver is open
to ideas. When a good communicator finally
presents his information he does it in a way
that is non judgmental and focuses on
constructive.
