Dr. Barbara Baschiera proposes an intergenerational learning environment using blogs where teenagers and elderly people can be co-managers of communication and learning. The goals are to facilitate lifelong learning for seniors, reduce the digital divide, improve youth civic engagement, and strengthen relationships across ages through sharing life stories and knowledge. Participants would blog weekly for two years at schools and senior centers. Effectiveness would be evaluated through quantitative and qualitative analysis of relationships formed, pre/post tests of participants, and evidence from blog posts, photos, and questionnaires. Potential outcomes include increased social participation of seniors, improved youth civic roles, and strengthened intergenerational relationships.
