Ultrasonic is the universally accepted technique to study the physico chemical properties of the
liquids, liquid mixtures, electrolytic solutions and polymeric solutions. Liquids, liquid mixtures and
solutions find wide applications in medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, lather, textile, nuclear and
solvent, solution related industries. The study and understanding of the thermodynamic properties
of liquid mixtures and solutions are more essential for their applications in these industries. The
measurements of ultrasonic velocity in the combination of density and viscosity have been used to
study the molecular interactions in liquid mixtures and solutions.

Ultrasonic:
Ultrasonic is science of acoustics dealing with generation and use of inaudible acoustic waves. The
sound waves having frequencies ranging above 20KHZ up to several MHZ i.e. human audible
ranges are called ultrasonic waves. The sound waves of low frequencies i.e. below human audible
range are infrasonic waves. Like life, ultrasonic was originated from sea. The five senses of living
beings i.e. hearing, touch, smell, sight and taste are interdependent on each other. Out of these five,
two are important for long rang interaction i.e. sight and hearing and other three have short range
performance. But these things are different under water because long range sight has no use under
water. By default, sound waves have long range sensing functionality under water.
The era of ultrasonic began with the wrecking of RMS Titanic which crashed with ice berg. The
detection of ice berg was done by high frequency waves. In 1915 Langevin (the father of ultrasonic)
invented the underwater SONAR for submarine detection. Sokolov suggested the concept of
ultrasonic metal flaw detection in 1928. After that slow and steady progress was made in the
measurement of propagation constant of material. The propagation of ultrasonic waves through
solid material has been used to detect hidden cracks, porosity, voids and other discontinuities in
metal. The field of ultrasonic has wide application in science, medicine and

Characteristics Of Princess Diana
Abstract
Princess Diana was known as the people s princess; but Diana was much more than that. Diana was
an activist, humanitarian, public servant and a leader. Princess Diana s entire adult life was focused
on helping those less fortunate, those suffering from debilitating diseases and offering aide to
people from third world countries. Diana didn t just contribute time but focused on attracting the
attention of the media which brought spectators and in return brought followers. These
followers were willing to contribute time and resources to hundreds of causes Princess Diana
found important. Diana had great charisma that she spread to all the people she met. In the
developing countries she was able to empower others by improving their self esteem (Gram
2013). Princess Diana led a life of giving and through many years of personal grief and loss
followed by a tragic death the world has suffered a great loss as well. Fortunately, Diana was
such an impactful leader that to this day there are memorial funds set up in Princess Diana s name
to assist with many of the charities that the Princess adored. Because of the hours and back
breaking work the Princess put in to these charities, they still reap benefits from the followers of
the people s leader, Princess Diana.
Princess Diana; a Leader A leader can possess many unique qualities. Merriam Webster defines a
leader as someone who guides others. A quick google search provides a definition of a person
who commands a group. Princess Diana was known to compassionately guide people to service.
Without instructing, verbalizing or motioning Diana was able to influence the way the world felt
about many different causes. Princess Diana was able to change the world s views and
perceptions about contagious diseases, third world countries and many different world crises.
Diana was passionate about all of the charities and work performed and was never fearful to be the
first to volunteer. Diana did not discriminate in any charity, she worked for the homeless, youth,
drug addicts, and the elderly (thefamouspeople.com 2013).

difference between end independent rules or laws in society versus end dependent rules or laws

Usury Laws can lead to a black market in money lending. These regulations set by the
government are intended to protect the citizens from greedy lenders by setting a maximum rate
of interest, above which it is illegal to lend money. Lenders charge higher rates of interest to
compensate for the amount of risk that can be associated with the transaction, risk being the
likely hood of not getting paid in full. Once a usury law is put in effect there becomes a
maximum rate at which the lender can lend money. With this maximum rate of interest some
potential borrowers will be assumed too risky because it is not legal to charge the rate of interest
to compensate the risk associated with lending. This leads to a smaller amount of money
available to borrow from legitimate lenders, so often a borrower will turn to a black market lender
who will illegally lend them money at a higher rate of interest. Often times the black market lender
will use forms of persuasion such as bodily harm to the borrower and their family to ensure
repayment. This clearly is more dangerous than high interest rates. Below is a supply and demand
curve that demonstrates the government interest rate and the black market correlation.

On any network, it must be communicate through some form of media. In this world, only human
can communicate through sound waves in the air while computers or other electronic devices that
can link to each other need to communicated through cables, radio waves, magnetic waves and

each other but only within the same transmission media. There are consist of two main type of

Coaxial cable is easy to install, unlike twisted pair cable and fiber optic cable that need specific
tools to install and fiber optic even need professional to install. This cable is also easy to expand.
Lastly, coaxial cable has moderate level of EMI immunity, it won t get much interference like
twisted pair cable do. (network, n.d.)
Disadvantages of Coaxial
Coaxial cable has high attenuation rate over long distance. Besides that coaxial cable is bulky as it
made up of several material and thick copper. (Gupta, 2012)
Application of Coaxial
Coaxial cable is used on cable tv to transmit channel from the satellite and allow us to watch tv
channel. Besides that coaxial cable can be used for telecommunication, it can support up to 10, 800
voice conversation. Lastly, coaxial cable is used on traditional Ethernet Local Area Networks
(LAN), it can support transmission rate up to 10Mbps. (Gupta, 2012) Unguided Media/Unbounded

Unguided media is also called unbounded transmission media, unguided media transmit data in the

Walter Sobchak Should Be Charged Under New York Penal Law...
Question 1: Based on the evidence, Walter Sobchak should be charged under New York Penal Law
125.25, which is murder in the second degree. Upon seeing is wife Meara Ramos, in bed with
James P. Sullivan, Sobchak makes the conscious decision to pick up his firearm, a deadly weapon
and shoot it at Sullivan which reveals his intent to cause the death of another person. Unfortunately,
the bullet ultimately travels outside, hitting and killing Edward Vedder; an innocent bystander. In
his attempt to murderSullivan; Sobchak, causes the death of a third person. By picking up the
gun and firing it, Sobchak recklessly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to
another person, and although it does not harm Sullivan, the intended victim it does cause the
death of another person. Under these circumstances Sobchak, is wholly responsible for the death
of Vedder and liable under 125.25. In this case I can easily envision a defense premised on
emotional distress. The sight of another man in bed with his wife caused Sobchak, to act under the
influence of extreme emotional disturbance. It could be argued that it is reasonable for a devoted
husband to take this course of action given the situation and the circumstances. He committed an
act he otherwise would not have. However, given the holding in Patterson v. New York, it would
fall completely upon the shoulders of Sobchak s defense team to prove any affirmative defense, as
the prosecution is required only to prove

Onomatopoeia For A Burning House
What is an onomatopoeia for a burning house? Snap? Crackle? Pop? Well, whatever that sound
is, just imagine it on a cold but not snowy winter s night, a night that started out as a trip to the
movies but backfired. See what I did there. My house set ablaze last December, of course it had
the week of Christmas, and I lost everything. When I say everything I mean it, my house was
gutted, my room was charred and smoked, and my brother s kittens died. I was distraught, all of
the art I had ever done was gone, my cat was missing in a burning house, and worst of all, I lost
the only home I d ever known. All of this is material and I ve heard a million times that at least no
one was hurt , but that s not true. I was hurt, my brother was hurt, my sister and my motherwere
hurt, and kittens died. Don t worry, though, this isn t an attempt to gain sympathy points. It gets

Decision Making Is At The Core Of The United States...
Decision making is at the core of the United States Supreme Court. The justices are not immune
to possessing political ideologies and similarly to the American public, those ideologies impact
their lives to varying degrees. The facet of judicial politics explored in this paper is decision
making and the impact of ideology. While it would be ideal for the Supreme Court to have zero
influences other than the constitution, it is also wishful thinking. Author Jeffrey Toobin agrees
with political scientists that the justices of the United States Supreme Court make decisions and
rulings that are a result of their ideologies and personal values. He says, All justices have a
political ideology as well as a legal philosophy that s a big reason presidents choose them in the first
place. Perhaps the most astute opinion on this matter comes from Justice Sonia Sotomayor: The
aspiration to impartiality is just that it s an aspiration because it denies the fact that we are by our
experiences making different choices than others. Personal experiences affect the facts that judges
choose to see Toobin s own statements often reflect the argument that he attempts to prove about
the justices being in line with the attitudinal model. He writes, The justices built their judicial
philosophies on the foundation of their prior lives. The question is, to what extent do justices allow
their personal values and experiences to impact their court duties? The idea that the justices are

Crossing Brooklyn Ferry Essay
Crossing Brooklyn Ferry, by Walt Whitman, is a poem about a man who takes the Brooklyn
ferry home after his work day. At first glance one may say How can this long poem really be
about a ferry? Once you get reading you realized there is much more to it then riding the
Brooklyn Ferry. This poem deals with the idea that all humans are united in the harmonies of life
because we all share the same land. This poem describes the relationship between human beings.
The poem is describing how he believes that people see the same things he does and feels the same
things he does while on the Ferry. Since they do experience the same things, this makes them come
together because they must react in the same ways. He is implying that the ferry is connecting
humanity because they all witness the same things while riding it. Throughout the poem the
speaker shifts who he is addressing. It goes from the crowd, to the second person, to then
addressing the commuters on the ferry, and then to everyone who has every rode the ferry, and then
to everyone that has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

New York symbolizes hope and adventure for all different kinds of people from all over the world.
Crossing Brooklyn Ferry has been called one of Walt Whitman s greatest poems. It speaks about
how he sees the Melting Pot of America come into play. Crossing Brooklyn Ferry connects to
history because the underlying message talks about the immigration into the United States and the

Compare And Contrast The Raven And The Tell Tale Heart

Nevermore
Edgar Allan poe is one of the most incredible gothic writers, with a library of many famous
works. He is famous for his dark and ominous way of narrating, as well as his brutal and obscure
endings to his tales. Arguably his most famous works are the poem entitled The Raven published
January 29th 1845, and his short story The Tell Tale Heartpublished a few years earlier on January
1843. Both of these pieces of literature pulled the listener directly into Poe s mysterious world,
with suspense and intensity in every line. The Raven and The Tale Heart written by Edgar Allan Poe
both develop the gothic theme of madness by using dark imagery, similar symbolism, and torment.
The Raven follows a man who is tormented by a large raven on top of his chamber door. He
recently lost his lover Lenore, and he believes that this Raven is in his chamber is taunting him,
and making light of his lost love. As the story progresses the narrator starts to drift further and
further from sanity until he can no longer understand the events that are taking place. The Tell
Tale Heart the main character is also driven to madness, but in this case it is by a mysterious eye,
to the point where he must commit murder in order to feel at peace. However this is not the end
of this tale. The police arrive at his house to question him, and just as he was almost in the clear
the beating of a heart causes him to expose the hiding place of the

In Merriam Webster s Encyclopedia of Literature, the athlete in the poem will now never experience
the fading of that glory and human beings can count on neither earthly happiness nor immortality (

reasoning, there is no sense in lamenting the young man s death, because he has not lived to see
his records broken and will go to his grave a champion ( Explanation of: To an Athlete Dying

the poem, an unknown author gives an explanation. Apart of the ironic theme that the death of the
young athlete is celebrated, not grieved over, the lack of apathy Housman shows signifies the
reason why there is no, lamenting. The poet sees the event as a celebratory moment because unlike
other athletes who live to see their records broken, the athlete who dies young will never have to
see the fate. The young athlete dies at the peak and does not have to experience the fall. The final

Logistics Management
Introduction
The competitive drivers of the 21st century are time and service (responsiveness and flexibility).
The notions of stabilizing flow and reducing variations are no longer competitive practices. More to
point, three forces separately and in combination are driving today s companies deeper and deeper
into a territory that most of the executive and managers find frighteningly unfamiliar. These forces
are the 3 C s, customer, competition and change.
Customers: Seller no longer has upper hand whereas customers do. A customer now tells the
supplier what they want, when they want it, how they want it and what they will pay.
Competition: It used to be simple the company that could get the market with an acceptable product

From being a military tool, it has been slowly imbibed by the business empires to effectively
manage their production and distribution requirements. A contemporary definition of logistics
explains it as the process of planning, implementing and controlling efficient and cost effective flow

In simple words logistics Means Movement It is concerned with getting goods and Services where

The Effects Of Gambling Addiction On The Brain
Shen, Glombiewski, 2013).
Biological Factors Addictions are known to activate the culmination of sites in the brain that make
up the reward centre which is responsible for feeling happiness or pleasure through the release of
dopamine (Linden, 2011). After repeated exposures, receptors in the brain build a tolerance towards
the addiction meaning that there is a need for increased stimulation to provide a similar high .
Eventually behaviour patterns develop so as to avoid withdrawal. At this point addiction is
occurring and symptoms should be observable. Like other addictions, it is believed that IAD causes
a release of dopamine in the nucleus accumbens (Ko et al., 2009). It must then be discussed why
certain behaviours or substances activate the reward centre resulting in addiction. It has been
agreed that, much similar to gambling addiction, Internet addiction functions through a variable
ratio reinforcement schedule (Young, 2011). However, it is also is theorised that those who use the
Internet or other similar technologies experience various rewards that are unpredictable in nature,
depending on the application they are using (such as: video games, emails, social media,
pornography, message boards and texting). Paired with the mood altering content of the application
the reward activation is increased. Examples of mood altering content include video games (social
inclusion, achieving tasks unobtainable in real life), pornography (sexual gratification), and online

Yet other inventions were the cause of misery to the entire human kind. What about an invention

invention is the Dynamite. Let me first introduce you to the inventor of the dynamite. The dynamite

If you would compare the number of deaths in war before and after the dynamite, you would be

world wide. You might say that this was a positive impact but because people at that time didn t
quite understand the dynamite that this trade usually ended in death. Because shipping dynamite at
that time wasn t safe, many catastrophes happened. For example, a shipment route to California
blew up in Panama, killing 60 and causing a half million dollars in damage. Nobel s own dynamite

dynamite, thousands lost their lives, thousands lost their homes and millions lost their loved ones.

Symptoms and Effects of Primary Insomnia Essay
Symptoms and Effects of Primary Insomnia The APA Dictionary of Pscyhology defines
insomnia as a difficulty in initiating or maintaining a restorative sleep that results in fatigue, the
severity of persistence of which causes clinically significant distress or impairment in
functioning (VandenBos, 2007, p. 485). The pineal gland in the brain produces melatonin that
works with circadian rhythms, which in time help control sleep (Gillam, 2009). By use of
polysomnography, researchers find that a possible cause of insomina is a longer period of stage
1 sleep and shorter periods of stages 3 and 4. The disorder predominantly exists among young
adults and middle aged people. Population surveys indicate a 1 year prevalence of insomnia... Show

Genetics link to the development of insomnia, but researchers have an uncertainty of how strong
the relationship (DSM IV TR, 2000).
The DSM IV TR (2000) states that insomnia generally affects women and older people; older
people and men have trouble staying asleep, and younger people normally have trouble achieving
sleep. Insomnia usually begins from a stress triggering element. Symptoms causes by the element
may get worse and lead to insomnia (DSM IV TR, 2000). Studies have conveyed two main concepts
related to insomnia: physiological, emotional and cognitive activation and how intense stress
affects the person who goes through times of hardship. If insomnia continues without prevention, it
may cause other disorders such as depression (Alexandru, B. V., RГіbert, B., Viorel, L., Vasile, B.
2009, p. 68).
Treatments
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and pharmacotherapy start the list of the many treatments for
insomnia. Cognitive behavior treatments aim toward adjusting participants thoughts of insomnia
and calming them (Alexandru, 2009). According to studies, CBT is effective for improving
insomnia symptoms in 70 80% of patients, and also has long term effects on the prevention of
recurrence (Okajima, I., Komada, Y., Inoue, Y. 2011, p. 24). Although pharmacotherapy is used

Revelations of Divine Love
Revelations of Divine Love is one of the most renowned Christian texts, mainly because it is
known to be the first published book in the English language that was written by a woman. It was
written by Julian of Norwich, a woman who reflects the nature of the medieval time period. She
would come to define a representation of the connection that people can have to divine beings in
many variety of forms by being a famous mystic. As she interprets her mystic experiences, she
depicts JesusChrist as a working mother of the Trinity. Her belief is that Christ embodies the
characteristics of motherhood and this would enable a caring and nurturing foundation for the
Christian faith. Christ as mother extends to both to the physical humanity in bodily bleeding and
suffering in order to give life and to the spirituality of Christ whom delivers the soul; eternal and
heavenly. This motherhood of Christ is a vital part of Julian s theology and the idea of feminine love
extends even to sin and salvation. But most of all, she depicts Christ as feminine, not to distinguish
him as being even more of a woman, but to analyze a blurring of the genders, having Christ, and
therefore God as beyond manmade categories. In turn, this would come to positively impact women
by having an idol that is not androgynous. This follows the Trinity being a father, mother and
lordship (Father, Son and Holy Ghost). Christianityis one of the largest religious practices in the
world and it has many different

The effect of drug in the society: The epidemic of drug in the society is at a all time high and the

mitigate possible losses due to game rentals and game resellers such as GameStop. While this
didn t really push in game purchases, it did set the tone for locking certain aspects of a game
behind a paywall (Williams). The next step was to intentionally lock not only features, but
content behind a paywall. In 2011, Rockstar introduced the first season pass for their game L.A.

and it incentivized fans to spend more money on the game, even if it meant paying for things they
would never use. Unlike the online passes, the season pass was implemented into almost every

Essay On Western Meditation
The purpose of ER #12 is to illustrate the true purpose of meditation and the ways in which one can
achieve this true purpose, however, when this purpose is juxtaposed against the modern, Western
interpretation of the art of meditation, one thing is clear; these are not the same. The popular,
western meditation, at its heart, attempts to reach the same things that the Buddhist meditation tries
to reach: peace, tranquility, and happiness, but those that reach their goals in western meditation
practices are not reaching the same goals as those who practice Buddhist meditation. Buddhist
meditation at its heart is an attempt to reach nirvana, while those who practice western meditation
are reaching a relaxed state that helps to promote peace, tranquility, and happiness.
The peace that is reached in western meditation is something that is fleeting, as the stressors of
everyday life remove this peaceful feeling and replace it with the chaos that is everyday. To reach a
true trance state requires the mindfulness and active thought of sГЎmatha, a western cannot reach
what those who have practiced meditation their whole lives can. The meditation that is done in the
popularized version is only a small shell of what Buddhist monks truly practice. The concentration

The Necessity Of Computer Literacy

The Necessity of Computer Literacy The common image of schools is students sitting in a
classroom and learning how to read, write, and do math. However, the reality is that the classroom
needs to be rapidly changing. In the 21st century schools are changing their curriculum in order to
teach students the skills they will need once they leave school. Computer literacy is a skill required
for most jobs nowadays and there are many new jobs available in the field of computers, many of
which pay well and have lots of room for growth. As such, in the United States schools need to
prioritize teaching computer literacy to students. There is a wide range of literacy in reading ...

Almost every job nowadays requires the use of computers but formal computer training is
something rarely being taught in schools. For instance, in the United States only seventeen
states offer graduation credit for Computer Science courses (Baker). Many schools teach basic
computer classes such as keyboarding and believe that is sufficient enough for students to leave
school with. As such, many students graduating come to college with only the basics of how to
work their computer. They may know how to browse Facebook and type a paper but they are
unable to code a basic program or create spreadsheets on Excel. This creates a huge problem in
our increasingly technology and computer based world. People tend to overestimate their
computer literacy and according to Shane Bateman, of Experience Works in Ohio, many job
seekers computer literacy fell well short of what government agencies assumed (Johnson). It is
clear that schools are failing to properly teach computer literacy and as such schools need to
prioritize teaching computer skills in order to better prepare their students for employment once
they leave the classroom. Computer literacy, similar to reading and writing literacy is a process
learned by both formal teaching and acquisition. According to James Paul Gee, acquisition is an
informal learning process through trial and error while learning involves conscious knowledge
gained from a teacher (Gee 137) . Humans are not

Renzulli s Three-Ring Conception Of Giftedness
1.)How does the main character (or main characters) exemplify someone with gifted abilities?
I chose the movie Hidden Figures . This exemplifies women mathematicians that work for NASA

exceptional talent or natural ability. The article Renzulli s Three Ring Conception of Giftedness

unwilling they were to listen to Will s reasoning yet determined to inflict violence upon a

reoccurring slanted motion appealed to the feeling of disarray and foreshadowed the mayhem to
come. While the camera movement from one house to another depicted the wrath of the mob;
proves that the cam movement allowed the viewer to receive a better sense of what unreasonable
fear the characters are feeling. Last but definitely not least, lighting. I recognized the effectual
usage of lighting as a factor in expressing the theme of this video. To demonstrate, in the scene

lighting. As I ve used this scene in previous examples, we can tell its an important catalyst.

approximately 60 80% of the cost associated with the platform in the operations and sustainment

modernization efforts, the Air Force must consider the extensive myriad of types of logistics
support required to field, operate, employ, and sustain a new weapon system in the post

It Bears No Doubt That Coates Isn t Not So Much With The...
It bears no doubt that Coates builds quite a cumulative, comprehensive and legible claim, as to the
reparations due to the minority community that befell a multitude of misery at the hands of white
folk. However, the problem that I wish to bring to light, lies not so much with the point(s) brought
forth, but rather with the issue of the practicality and feasibility of the implementation of
reparations. Moreover, I would also like to dwell with the future repercussions of going forth with
such an idea. Even so, I wish to provide for a framework under which such circumstances, though
not justifiable, can easily be explained, as far as their occurrence and the remnants of which occur
in today s society (is in concern.)
First and foremost, Coates in his article barely touches upon ways of going about said reparations.
Although he does state or at least imply that the primary point (or aim) of his article, is to
enumerate the list of injustices faced by the blacks at the hands of the white populace, and not to
advocate any particular means of reparations; such an article without any means or ways of ensuing
actions to resolve, defeats the purpose of presenting one in the first place. This he further concedes
by hinting at the fact that teams of scholars, such as the HR 40, after heated debates and
discussions, might find that America may never be able to repay the African American Community.
The idea of reparations is frightening not simply because we might lack the ability to

The vulnerable bony areas prone to pressure ulcer are back, heels, hip, spine, elbows, shoulders
and back of head. Studies have proved that total operating time and overall number of surgical
procedures are significant predictors of pressure ulcers. A research conducted by Lindgren et al
found that 14.3 % of surgical patients acquired a pressure ulcer during the time from surgery to
twelve weeks after surgery. For every thirty minutes the surgery went beyond four hours, the risk for
a pressure ulcer increased by approximately thirty three percent.
As we are all aware that there is no reimbursement for a hospital acquired pressure ulcer and the
cost for each pressure ulcer has to be absorbed by the facility. A patient s development of a

has been estimated that the cost of treating pressure ulcers is 2.5 times the cost of preventing them

system that would transport time sensitive shipments at a faster rate. At the time most deliveries
were distributed by passenger occupied itineraries that took several days to arrive at their
destination. Later in 1971, Smith acquired a majority interest in Arkansas Aviation Sales. It was
here that Smith realized how challenging it was to make deliveries in a one two day time frame. In

How The Federal Express Corporation Maintains its Successful Reign 3
The overall organizational structure of the FedEx Corporation consists of six independent business
units: FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Trade
Networks, and FedEx Services, each of these businesses work in different sectors. Although FedEx
Corporation is the parent company of the six independent business units, it still offers strategic
leadership at corporate level and they operate on their own and therefore are solely responsible for
their decisions and ultimate success. According to Boundless Management, the FedEx organization
operates as a functional structure. A functional organization is a common type of organizational
structure in which the organization is divided into smaller groups based on specialized functional
areas, such as IT, finance, or marketing. Since the above chart displays teams in different parts of
the organization, it is clear that FedEx also operates under functional departmentalization. Overall,
FedEx puts more emphasis on its greatest asset, its personnel. By creating incentives like career
advancement and ongoing career development helps to retain employees and encourages them to
attain personal and team goals. It was Fredrick W. Smith, the CEO and founder of the organization
whom insisted that employees should be an integral part of

Dorothea Lynd Dix Research Paper
From the early years of her youth, Dorothea Lynd Dix endured more than her fair share of
burdens and obstacles. While growing up in Maine throughout the early 1800 s, her journey began
with her impoverished, dysfunctional family. Dorothea s father, Joseph Dix, was an unstable
religious preacher and her mother, Mary Bigelow, suffered from a mental illness and remained
emotionally distant (Staff, History.com 2009). Growing up as the eldest, Dorothea felt a
responsibility to take great care of her siblings and family. Ultimately, her family s shortcomings
and her compassion were what fueled her desire to help the less fortunate and helpless.
With limited schooling and access to job professions as a female, Dorothea still exhibited a passion
for education and learning. As she grew older, she acted upon her passion and became a
schoolteacher for children who needed an education. She even worked to develop and open up
various schools for children and each with an established curriculum (Staff, History.com 2009).
However, after experiencing serious episodes of sickness, she stopped her teaching and began to
write educational textbooks for the youth instead, some of which were published in the late 1820 s
to the 1840 s (Wood, Andrew G.).

Insanity In Edvard Munch s One Flew Over The Cuckoo
The Scream by Edvard Munch can be depicted through the novel One Flew over the Cuckoo s
Nest in a few ways. The Scream symbolizes the anguish and pain of modern life. One of the
major themes that is represented in the novel is the idea of being falsely diagnosed of insanity.
This artwork shows a figure, male or female, holding his or her head as if he or she is trying to
ignore reality or is completely mad. It represents the time in the story when McMurphy arranges a
fishing trip with nine other patients. When they stop for gas, the service station men behave rudely
to the patients and treats them unfairly, I could tell by the laugh that they d decided to sell us the

Lerman, in their presence, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds as they move to
strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. Actor Brad Pitt takes the role of Don Wardaddy Collier, the
commander and brains of Fury. Collier is a blunt person who only cares about getting the
mission done. He is also a very patient and humorous person who cares a lot for his comrades
and is willing to sacrifice himself to protect them. Boyd Swan is another main character in this

essentially the second in command of Fury. He operates the main gun system, the 76mm high

In a study of New York City, Hosannah (2014) found that particle size distribution with a high
volume of fine mode particles in urban areas can suppress precipitation. Particle size distribution
with a high volume of coarse mode particles (with giant cloud condensation nuclei) enhanced
precipitation totals. Urban effects also changed spatial precipitation patterns. Jin et al (2005) found
weekly signals of aerosol optical thickness for summer months in AERONET measurements, and in
MODIS cloud effective radius over New York City. Aerosols were also elevated seasonally, with

Alternative Sources Of Energy For Fossil Fuel
In this day and age, finding an alternate source of energy to fossil fuel is essential. Humans are
using up fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, faster than they can be made naturally. This means that
there will be a time when all of the fossil fuels will have been used to power . To prevent a world
without energy, many alternative sources have been harnessed. Six different pathways for energies
were found: solar power, biomass, geothermal power, hydropower, wind power, and nuclear power.
All of these are much better alternatives to fossil fuels, as they reduce carbon emissions. Carbon
dioxide is one of the greenhouse gasses in Earth s atmosphere, which when created in excess,
causes things such as global warming to occur. But when they are compared to each other, some
seem better than others in many different ways. Although wind and hydropower are both promising
alternative energies, wind power would be better for New Jersey, because it is space efficient,
relatively cheap, and the turbines can be placed almost anywhere.
Figure 1 in the diagram below, it simply shows how the wind turns the blades, which in turn help to
power the generator.
[Wind power would benefit New Jersey because it is space efficient.] Turbines are rarely seen on
their own, but the power that one turbine can produce is impressive to say the least. One 1.8 MW
wind turbine at a decent site can r 4,produce ove7 million units of electricity every year, that is
enough to ensure the annual needs of over

The Vampire Chronicles Vs. Twilight Saga
The Vampire Chronicles vs The Twilight Saga Do you prefer The Vampire Chronicles by Anne
Rice or The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer? This question can lead into a huge argument due to
the opinions of who answers the question. A person can guess the answer by the age of the people.
The older generation would suggest The Vampire Chronicles because it tells the tale of the true
vampires, such as the human blood suckers that only comes out at night. While the younger
generation would suggest The TwilightSaga because it shows that vampires can be like regular
people. Although there are some major differences between The Vampire Chronicles and The
Twilight Saga, the similarities are shocking. For people who forgot or don t know about these two
novels, these novels are about the lives of vampires. The Vampire Chronicles (1976 2003) is by
Anne Rice. Her novels are series that tells the story of a French nobleman named Lestate de
Lioncourt who transformed into a vampire in the eighteenth century. The other novel series, The
Twilight Saga, is by Stephenie Meyer. Her novel series tells a story of a young ordinary female,
Bella Swan, who falls in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen. Both of these novel series has
turned into the big screen including Interview with a Vampire, Queen of the Damned, and the
Twilight movie series that almost every teenage girl loves. Even though they might tell

Bow History
The bow is one of oldest weapons that can launch a projectile at great distances accurately. In
prehistoric times, the bow was used for hunting and war. Beth L. Habeishi and Staphanie Mallory
in Basic Illustrated Archery state that later on in the human race, the longbow also became used for
competition shooting as well (para. 1). The world changed and the bowwas replaced by the gun.
Paul E. Klopsteg in Archery, states that the bow is almost certainly the earliest mechanical device
to achieve greater speed in a projectile than could be attained by throwing. Bows can shoot a
projectile faster than a sling shot could, which the slingshot was made before the bow. According to
Beth L. Habeishi and Staphanie Mallory in Basic Illustrated Archery,... Show more content on

Bows were made of a single material, usually wood; in which two pieces were fastened together to
make the equivalent of a single long stave. A stave is like a long piece of wood such as a branch,
stump, or post. For a longbow, all that is needed is a single stave. According to Cliff Seruntine in
Homemade Longbows, he describes that the first step to make a traditional longbow is to
acquire wood for the bow; the best wood for a bow is yew (para 1). Just about any type of wood
can be used to craft a longbow, but yew is supposed to be the best. After the wood is acquired,
Seruntine states that a longbow generally measures 72 or 6 in height and comes in a range of
draw weights depending upon how thin the wood is cut and the draw length of the archer (para.
1). After the stave is cut to length, the next step would be to shave it down to the same growth
ring all the way down the stave. When that is finished, measurements need to be made to find the
center and get a correct width for the bow. After finding the center, the next step is to measure
about 2 down each side of the center for the grip. The grip is where the archer holds the bow to
shoot. A longbow can be used by both a left and right handed person because there is no place to
rest the arrow on the bow. Seruntine states that the arrow has to be shot from the center of the
bow because there are no sights on the bow (para. 2). The arrow is generally resting on the
archers index finger holding the grip. To aim, the archer has to look down the point of the
arrow. After all of the measurements are done, the scraping process starts. The scraping process
is the longest part of it because there is a tone to scrape off and it only comes off a little bit at a
time. The limbs have to be scraped almost exactly even because they are what holds the energy to
fire the arrow. Seruntine describes how the bow shoots by

A potential problem with this strategy is with a large, non targeted marketing push, 75% of
audience the company would be targeting is not purchasing paint. Based on the company s
standard of recovering the costs within a year, if the company doubles its advertising costs, sales
should show a significant increase and there is no guarantee of this.
Reduce price by 20%
By reducing the price, Jones Blair will be more competitive with other brands. Right now, Jones
Blair is prices significantly higher than all other brands and when a consumer sees the brands side
by side at a store, they may not realize the higher quality of Jones Blair paint, just the higher price
and immediately select against.
A major issue is since reducing the price 20% reduces the profit margin to 15%, to maintain the
same profit while reducing the price, the sales must be $28 million for this year. This is an
increase of 233% in one year to justify reducing the price this much. This is a highly unlikely target.
Another potential problem is Jones Blair could lose the consumer s perception of the company
being high quality, high customer focused. Jones Blair has continually put focus on being the
leader in quality and customer satisfaction and if the company s prices are the same as all the other
brands, what makes Jones Blair stand out?

The Death Of Witchcraft By Richard Godbeer Essay
Ultio, is the Latin word for Revenge, which the witchcraft craze of the 1800 s was indirectly a
result of. Richard Godbeer argues that women and men, alike, were accused of witchcraft by
vengeful neighbors. These vengeful acts, however, were a direct result of tensions in and around
the colonies. In a new land faced by harsh weather, disease, and war with neighboring Native
American tribes, many colonists needed an escape, something they could easily control and defeat.
Accusing neighbors of witchcraft, was not only an act of revenge, but a way for colonists to band
together against a common enemy they could destroy. They essentially created a substitute for their
fears and hatred.
Connecticut had already begun to face a renewal of Indian attacks, and dissention between Quakers
and Anglicans, as Stamford begin to experience witch accusations. Goodbeer mentions, in his
Afterword, that the rhetoric used to describe increasing tensions caused by Indian attacks and
religious conflicts was similar to what was used to describe witches. Portraying them as being
worshipers of Satan. In small communities, like those of the Puritans in the colonies, congressional
members were expected to be friendly, kind and generous at all times. Any deviation from this
norm resulted in aggravated neighbors who would then proceed to call that person a witch. Puritans
were not particularly bothered by those who were healers, or practiced the occults, but rather were
bothered by those who did them

Data Communication
DATA COMMUNICATION
Advancements in the information technology sector have brought many benefits to the people all
around the world. Today with computer networking, we can chat, speak and see each other over a
long distance. Data communication refers to the transmission of the digital signals over a
communication channel between the transmitter and receiver computers. Communication is
possible only with wired and wireless connectivity of the computers with each other.
All the computers, in the logically and physically networks have to follow the same rules known
as Protocols such as TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and NETBEUI etc. Today, there are many computer
networking technologies such as LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN, ISDN, ATM, Frame Relay, X.25,

Well known communications protocols are Ethernet, a hardware and Link standard that is
ubiquitous in local area networks, and the Internet Protocol Suite, which defines a set of protocols
for internetworking, i.e. for data communication between multiple networks, as well as host to host
data transfer, and application specific data transmission formats.
Computer networking is sometimes considered a sub discipline of electrical engineering,
telecommunications, computer science, information technology or computer engineering, since it
relies upon the theoretical and practical application of these disciplines.
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet
protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that
consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to
global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking
technologies. The Internet carries a vast range of information resources and services, such as the
inter linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support
electronic mail.
Most traditional communications media including telephone, music, film, and television are
reshaped or redefined by the Internet, giving birth to new services such as Voice over Internet

Media Discrimination In The Media
1.Title IX signed into law on June 23rd, 1972 by President Richard M. Nixon states that no
person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be
denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity
receiving federal financial assistance. (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 44 Fed.
Reg. at 71413). Since this law was enacted we have seen a dramatic increase in female sports
participation. Tile IX has had a positive impact on female athletes as females now make up over
40% of college athletes... compared to two percent before the time of the legislation
(Staurowsky Weight, 2001, Pg. 190). Although Title IX has increased participation of female
athletes it has not aided in achieving equality for women and girls in sports. I believe the barriers
that prevent equality for female athletes can be broken down into two categories media coverage,
and public perception. The media has majority control over what the public believes is important
and most recently female athletes received 1.6% of television coverage, 4.9% of magazine covers,
and only 9.7% of featured sports articles (Fink, 2015). Not only do female athletes not get enough
media coverage, but when they do the focus is often on their physical appearance, femininity, and
/ or heterosexuality (Fink, 2015, Pg. 331). This coverage creates a negative public perception
toward female athletes. Thus the public believes that sports

Ultrasonic is the universally accepted technique to study the physico chemical properties of the liquids, liquid mixtures, electrolytic solutions and polymeric solutions. Liquids, liquid mixtures and solutions find wide applications in medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, lather, textile, nuclear and solvent, solution related industries. The study and understanding of the thermodynamic properties of liquid mixtures and solutions are more essential for their applications in these industries. The measurements of ultrasonic velocity in the combination of density and viscosity have been used to study the molecular interactions in liquid mixtures and solutions. Ultrasonic: Ultrasonic is science of acoustics dealing with generation and use of inaudible acoustic waves. The sound waves having frequencies ranging above 20KHZ up to several MHZ i.e. human audible ranges are called ultrasonic waves. The sound waves of low frequencies i.e. below human audible range are infrasonic waves. Like life, ultrasonic was originated from sea. The five senses of living beings i.e. hearing, touch, smell, sight and taste are interdependent on each other. Out of these five, two are important for long rang interaction i.e. sight and hearing and other three have short range performance. But these things are different under water because long range sight has no use under water. By default, sound waves have long range sensing functionality under water. The era of ultrasonic began with the wrecking of RMS Titanic which crashed with ice berg. The detection of ice berg was done by high frequency waves. In 1915 Langevin (the father of ultrasonic) invented the underwater SONAR for submarine detection. Sokolov suggested the concept of ultrasonic metal flaw detection in 1928. After that slow and steady progress was made in the measurement of propagation constant of material. The propagation of ultrasonic waves through solid material has been used to detect hidden cracks, porosity, voids and other discontinuities in metal. The field of ultrasonic has wide application in science, medicine and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Don t be afraid to use supply and demand diagrams in your explain and examples.) Usury Laws can lead to a black market in money lending. These regulations set by the government are intended to protect the citizens from greedy lenders by setting a maximum rate of interest, above which it is illegal to lend money. Lenders charge higher rates of interest to compensate for the amount of risk that can be associated with the transaction, risk being the likely hood of not getting paid in full. Once a usury law is put in effect there becomes a maximum rate at which the lender can lend money. With this maximum rate of interest some potential borrowers will be assumed too risky because it is not legal to charge the rate of interest to compensate the risk associated with lending. This leads to a smaller amount of money available to borrow from legitimate lenders, so often a borrower will turn to a black market lender who will illegally lend them money at a higher rate of interest. Often times the black market lender will use forms of persuasion such as bodily harm to the borrower and their family to ensure repayment. This clearly is more dangerous than high interest rates. Below is a supply and demand curve that demonstrates the government interest rate and the black market correlation. 5. • 6. Walter Sobchak Should Be Charged Under New York Penal Law... Question 1: Based on the evidence, Walter Sobchak should be charged under New York Penal Law 125.25, which is murder in the second degree. Upon seeing is wife Meara Ramos, in bed with James P. Sullivan, Sobchak makes the conscious decision to pick up his firearm, a deadly weapon and shoot it at Sullivan which reveals his intent to cause the death of another person. Unfortunately, the bullet ultimately travels outside, hitting and killing Edward Vedder; an innocent bystander. In his attempt to murderSullivan; Sobchak, causes the death of a third person. By picking up the gun and firing it, Sobchak recklessly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to another person, and although it does not harm Sullivan, the intended victim it does cause the death of another person. Under these circumstances Sobchak, is wholly responsible for the death of Vedder and liable under 125.25. In this case I can easily envision a defense premised on emotional distress. The sight of another man in bed with his wife caused Sobchak, to act under the influence of extreme emotional disturbance. It could be argued that it is reasonable for a devoted husband to take this course of action given the situation and the circumstances. He committed an act he otherwise would not have. However, given the holding in Patterson v. New York, it would fall completely upon the shoulders of Sobchak s defense team to prove any affirmative defense, as the prosecution is required only to prove ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, whatever that sound is, just imagine it on a cold but not snowy winter s night, a night that started out as a trip to the movies but backfired. See what I did there. My house set ablaze last December, of course it had the week of Christmas, and I lost everything. The justices are not immune to possessing political ideologies and similarly to the American public, those ideologies impact their lives to varying degrees. The facet of judicial politics explored in this paper is decision making and the impact of ideology. While it would be ideal for the Supreme Court to have zero influences other than the constitution, it is also wishful thinking. Author Jeffrey Toobin agrees with political scientists that the justices of the United States Supreme Court make decisions and rulings that are a result of their ideologies and personal values. He says, All justices have a political ideology as well as a legal philosophy that s a big reason presidents choose them in the first place. Perhaps the most astute opinion on this matter comes from Justice Sonia Sotomayor: The aspiration to impartiality is just that it s an aspiration because it denies the fact that we are by our experiences making different choices than others. Personal experiences affect the facts that judges choose to see Toobin s own statements often reflect the argument that he attempts to prove about the justices being in line with the attitudinal model. He writes, The justices built their judicial philosophies on the foundation of their prior lives. The question is, to what extent do justices allow their personal values and experiences to impact their court duties? The idea that the justices are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biological Factors Addictions are known to activate the culmination of sites in the brain that make up the reward centre which is responsible for feeling happiness or pleasure through the release of dopamine (Linden, 2011). After repeated exposures, receptors in the brain build a tolerance towards the addiction meaning that there is a need for increased stimulation to provide a similar high . Eventually behaviour patterns develop so as to avoid withdrawal. At this point addiction is occurring and symptoms should be observable. Like other addictions, it is believed that IAD causes a release of dopamine in the nucleus accumbens (Ko et al., 2009). It must then be discussed why certain behaviours or substances activate the reward centre resulting in addiction. It has been agreed that, much similar to gambling addiction, Internet addiction functions through a variable ratio reinforcement schedule (Young, 2011). However, it is also is theorised that those who use the Internet or other similar technologies experience various rewards that are unpredictable in nature, depending on the application they are using (such as: video games, emails, social media, pornography, message boards and texting). The pineal gland in the brain produces melatonin that works with circadian rhythms, which in time help control sleep (Gillam, 2009). • 22. Revelations of Divine Love Revelations of Divine Love is one of the most renowned Christian texts, mainly because it is known to be the first published book in the English language that was written by a woman. It was written by Julian of Norwich, a woman who reflects the nature of the medieval time period. She would come to define a representation of the connection that people can have to divine beings in many variety of forms by being a famous mystic. As she interprets her mystic experiences, she depicts JesusChrist as a working mother of the Trinity. Her belief is that Christ embodies the characteristics of motherhood and this would enable a caring and nurturing foundation for the Christian faith. Christ as mother extends to both to the physical humanity in bodily bleeding and suffering in order to give life and to the spirituality of Christ whom delivers the soul; eternal and heavenly. This motherhood of Christ is a vital part of Julian s theology and the idea of feminine love extends even to sin and salvation. But most of all, she depicts Christ as feminine, not to distinguish him as being even more of a woman, but to analyze a blurring of the genders, having Christ, and therefore God as beyond manmade categories. In turn, this would come to positively impact women by having an idol that is not androgynous. This follows the Trinity being a father, mother and lordship (Father, Son and Holy Ghost). The popular, western meditation, at its heart, attempts to reach the same things that the Buddhist meditation tries to reach: peace, tranquility, and happiness, but those that reach their goals in western meditation practices are not reaching the same goals as those who practice Buddhist meditation. Almost every job nowadays requires the use of computers but formal computer training is something rarely being taught in schools. For instance, in the United States only seventeen states offer graduation credit for Computer Science courses (Baker). Many schools teach basic computer classes such as keyboarding and believe that is sufficient enough for students to leave school with. As such, many students graduating come to college with only the basics of how to work their computer. They may know how to browse Facebook and type a paper but they are unable to code a basic program or create spreadsheets on Excel. This creates a huge problem in our increasingly technology and computer based world. People tend to overestimate their computer literacy and according to Shane Bateman, of Experience Works in Ohio, many job seekers computer literacy fell well short of what government agencies assumed (Johnson). It is clear that schools are failing to properly teach computer literacy and as such schools need to prioritize teaching computer skills in order to better prepare their students for employment once they leave the classroom. At the time most deliveries were distributed by passenger occupied itineraries that took several days to arrive at their destination. Later in 1971, Smith acquired a majority interest in Arkansas Aviation Sales. It was here that Smith realized how challenging it was to make deliveries in a one two day time frame. In his ... Although FedEx Corporation is the parent company of the six independent business units, it still offers strategic leadership at corporate level and they operate on their own and therefore are solely responsible for their decisions and ultimate success. According to Boundless Management, the FedEx organization operates as a functional structure. A functional organization is a common type of organizational structure in which the organization is divided into smaller groups based on specialized functional areas, such as IT, finance, or marketing. Since the above chart displays teams in different parts of the organization, it is clear that FedEx also operates under functional departmentalization. • 39. Dorothea Lynd Dix Research Paper From the early years of her youth, Dorothea Lynd Dix endured more than her fair share of burdens and obstacles. While growing up in Maine throughout the early 1800 s, her journey began with her impoverished, dysfunctional family. Dorothea s father, Joseph Dix, was an unstable religious preacher and her mother, Mary Bigelow, suffered from a mental illness and remained emotionally distant (Staff, History.com 2009). Growing up as the eldest, Dorothea felt a responsibility to take great care of her siblings and family. Ultimately, her family s shortcomings and her compassion were what fueled her desire to help the less fortunate and helpless. With limited schooling and access to job professions as a female, Dorothea still exhibited a passion for education and learning. As she grew older, she acted upon her passion and became a schoolteacher for children who needed an education. She even worked to develop and open up various schools for children and each with an established curriculum (Staff, History.com 2009). However, after experiencing serious episodes of sickness, she stopped her teaching and began to write educational textbooks for the youth instead, some of which were published in the late 1820 s to the 1840 s (Wood, Andrew G.). • 43. Alternative Sources Of Energy For Fossil Fuel In this day and age, finding an alternate source of energy to fossil fuel is essential. Humans are using up fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, faster than they can be made naturally. This means that there will be a time when all of the fossil fuels will have been used to power . To prevent a world without energy, many alternative sources have been harnessed. Six different pathways for energies were found: solar power, biomass, geothermal power, hydropower, wind power, and nuclear power. All of these are much better alternatives to fossil fuels, as they reduce carbon emissions. Carbon dioxide is one of the greenhouse gasses in Earth s atmosphere, which when created in excess, causes things such as global warming to occur. But when they are compared to each other, some seem better than others in many different ways. Although wind and hydropower are both promising alternative energies, wind power would be better for New Jersey, because it is space efficient, relatively cheap, and the turbines can be placed almost anywhere. Figure 1 in the diagram below, it simply shows how the wind turns the blades, which in turn help to power the generator. [Wind power would benefit New Jersey because it is space efficient.] Turbines are rarely seen on their own, but the power that one turbine can produce is impressive to say the least. Habeishi and Staphanie Mallory in Basic Illustrated Archery state that later on in the human race, the longbow also became used for competition shooting as well (para. 1). The world changed and the bowwas replaced by the gun. Paul E. Klopsteg in Archery, states that the bow is almost certainly the earliest mechanical device to achieve greater speed in a projectile than could be attained by throwing. Bows can shoot a projectile faster than a sling shot could, which the slingshot was made before the bow. According to Beth L. Habeishi and Staphanie Mallory in Basic Illustrated Archery,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bows were made of a single material, usually wood; in which two pieces were fastened together to make the equivalent of a single long stave. A stave is like a long piece of wood such as a branch, stump, or post. For a longbow, all that is needed is a single stave. According to Cliff Seruntine in Homemade Longbows, he describes that the first step to make a traditional longbow is to acquire wood for the bow; the best wood for a bow is yew (para 1). Just about any type of wood can be used to craft a longbow, but yew is supposed to be the best. After the wood is acquired, Seruntine states that a longbow generally measures 72 or 6 in height and comes in a range of draw weights depending upon how thin the wood is cut and the draw length of the archer (para. 1). After the stave is cut to length, the next step would be to shave it down to the same growth ring all the way down the stave. When that is finished, measurements need to be made to find the center and get a correct width for the bow. After finding the center, the next step is to measure about 2 down each side of the center for the grip. The grip is where the archer holds the bow to shoot. A longbow can be used by both a left and right handed person because there is no place to rest the arrow on the bow. Seruntine states that the arrow has to be shot from the center of the bow because there are no sights on the bow (para. 2). The arrow is generally resting on the archers index finger holding the grip. To aim, the archer has to look down the point of the arrow. After all of the measurements are done, the scraping process starts. The scraping process is the longest part of it because there is a tone to scrape off and it only comes off a little bit at a time. The limbs have to be scraped almost exactly even because they are what holds the energy to fire the arrow. Seruntine describes how the bow shoots by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A potential problem with this strategy is with a large, non targeted marketing push, 75% of audience the company would be targeting is not purchasing paint. Based on the company s standard of recovering the costs within a year, if the company doubles its advertising costs, sales should show a significant increase and there is no guarantee of this. Reduce price by 20% By reducing the price, Jones Blair will be more competitive with other brands. Right now, Jones Blair is prices significantly higher than all other brands and when a consumer sees the brands side by side at a store, they may not realize the higher quality of Jones Blair paint, just the higher price and immediately select against. A major issue is since reducing the price 20% reduces the profit margin to 15%, to maintain the same profit while reducing the price, the sales must be $28 million for this year. This is an increase of 233% in one year to justify reducing the price this much. This is a highly unlikely target. Another potential problem is Jones Blair could lose the consumer s perception of the company being high quality, high customer focused. Jones Blair has continually put focus on being the leader in quality and customer satisfaction and if the company s prices are the same as all the other brands, what makes Jones Blair stand out?

  • 49. The Death Of Witchcraft By Richard Godbeer Essay Ultio, is the Latin word for Revenge, which the witchcraft craze of the 1800 s was indirectly a result of. Richard Godbeer argues that women and men, alike, were accused of witchcraft by vengeful neighbors. These vengeful acts, however, were a direct result of tensions in and around the colonies. In a new land faced by harsh weather, disease, and war with neighboring Native American tribes, many colonists needed an escape, something they could easily control and defeat. Accusing neighbors of witchcraft, was not only an act of revenge, but a way for colonists to band together against a common enemy they could destroy. They essentially created a substitute for their fears and hatred. Connecticut had already begun to face a renewal of Indian attacks, and dissention between Quakers and Anglicans, as Stamford begin to experience witch accusations. Goodbeer mentions, in his Afterword, that the rhetoric used to describe increasing tensions caused by Indian attacks and religious conflicts was similar to what was used to describe witches. Portraying them as being worshipers of Satan. In small communities, like those of the Puritans in the colonies, congressional members were expected to be friendly, kind and generous at all times. Any deviation from this norm resulted in aggravated neighbors who would then proceed to call that person a witch. Puritans were not particularly bothered by those who were healers, or practiced the occults, but rather were bothered by those who did them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Media Discrimination In The Media 1.Title IX signed into law on June 23rd, 1972 by President Richard M. Nixon states that no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 44 Fed. Reg. at 71413). Since this law was enacted we have seen a dramatic increase in female sports participation. Tile IX has had a positive impact on female athletes as females now make up over 40% of college athletes... compared to two percent before the time of the legislation (Staurowsky Weight, 2001, Pg. 190). Although Title IX has increased participation of female athletes it has not aided in achieving equality for women and girls in sports. I believe the barriers that prevent equality for female athletes can be broken down into two categories media coverage, and public perception. The media has majority control over what the public believes is important and most recently female athletes received 1.6% of television coverage, 4.9% of magazine covers, and only 9.7% of featured sports articles (Fink, 2015). Not only do female athletes not get enough media coverage, but when they do the focus is often on their physical appearance, femininity, and / or heterosexuality (Fink, 2015, Pg. 331). This coverage creates a negative public perception toward female athletes. Thus the public believes that sports ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
