4. What we want to achieve
We want to make the knowledge of the cultural institutions apparent
and to make their work more transparent to a greater public.
We want to make the knowledge of cultural institutions under-
standable and to give access to cultural heritage information.
We hope that people enjoy the information offered by the portal.
We want to offer the knowledge of cultural institutions and cultural
heritage for purposes of e-learning, e-scolarship, and e-publishing.
We want to offer an incentive for the user to share his the knowledge
and to set a stage for his contributions.

finding aids; Bundesarchiv with about 500 online finding aids; online finding
aids of the Hessische Staatsarchive
Libraries: South Western Union Catalogue with about 1.000 libraries and
12 Mio. titles; Northern Union Catalogue with about 800 libraries and
22 Mio. titles; Kalliope Network (autographs) with about 1 Mio. Records
Museums::Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Museums in Berlin); State
Museum of Technology and Work Mannheim; State Museum Karlsruhe;
State Museum Stuttgart; Historical Museum Leipzig; Stiftung
Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg (Prussian
