Balance of the Planet is a project from Curtin University that connects learners
from around the globe and invites them to learn valuable skills, compete for
scholarship funds and prizes, and gain university-endorsed recognition by
solving real-world problems associated with the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).

What is Global Challenge?
Global Challenge is an online learning platform
that enables students to participate and
complete a series of specific individual or
collaborative team based learning exercises
(referred to as Challenges). In individual
challenges, students navigate through a number
of interactive activities designed to engage and
educate simultaneously. In collaborative
challenges, students form teams in order to
complete project based tasks, and maintain
communication through the integration
of Cisco’s WebEx Teams.

ECOCHALLENGE
UNEP-DHI Eco Challenge provides an exciting and authentic
learning experience for students in Years 5-12 through the online
strategic game, Aqua Republica, to explore issues and solutions
relating to water management and sustainable development.
GLOBAL GOALS CHALLENGE
Global Goals Challenge - is a three-day challenge-based workshop that engages students
from Learning Futures Network and Innovative Schools Consortium member institutions to
engage in an intensive design process to identify and suggest solutions to problems related
to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Student participation is facilitated by a hosting
teacher and an experienced educator from Curtin University and includes mentoring
opportunities with experts from academia, industry, community and cultural organisations.

SESSION SUMMARY Balance of the Planet is a project from Curtin University that connects learners from around the globe and invites them to learn valuable skills, compete for scholarship funds and prizes, and gain university-endorsed recognition by solving real-world problems associated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

LEARNING FUTURES NETWORK The Learning Futures Network aims to create the social infrastructure, resources and context to develop more authentic and future-aware processes to support transformation and collaboration across student learning, school and staff development, and connections between and across higher education, industry, cultural and community organisations and the public sector. http://LearningFuturesNetwork.org

  • 5. GLOBAL CHALLENGE PLATFORM https://www.globalchallenge.org.au/ What is Global Challenge? Global Challenge is an online learning platform that enables students to participate and complete a series of specific individual or collaborative team based learning exercises (referred to as Challenges). In individual challenges, students navigate through a number of interactive activities designed to engage and educate simultaneously. In collaborative challenges, students form teams in order to complete project based tasks, and maintain communication through the integration of Cisco’s WebEx Teams.

  • 10. ECOCHALLENGE UNEP-DHI Eco Challenge provides an exciting and authentic learning experience for students in Years 5-12 through the online strategic game, Aqua Republica, to explore issues and solutions relating to water management and sustainable development.

GLOBAL GOALS CHALLENGE Global Goals Challenge - is a three-day challenge-based workshop that engages students from Learning Futures Network and Innovative Schools Consortium member institutions to engage in an intensive design process to identify and suggest solutions to problems related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Student participation is facilitated by a hosting teacher and an experienced educator from Curtin University and includes mentoring opportunities with experts from academia, industry, community and cultural organisations.
