Phytomedicine and Ayurveda are both herbal medicine systems but have some differences. [1] Phytomedicine uses modern scientific techniques to study plants and identify active compounds, while Ayurveda is an ancient system that considers a plant's taste, potency, and other properties. [2] Both believe plants can work synergistically and target multiple systems, but Ayurveda is a complete medical science while phytomedicine focuses only on herbal remedies. [3] Extraction methods differ, with phytomedicine primarily using alcohol and Ayurveda using water, oils, or self-generated alcohols from plants.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest traditional systems of medicine that has survived and flourished from ages till date. Ayurveda is knowledge system dealing with what is required to maintain health and to cure diseases. The basic theories of Ayurveda are the Panchamahabhuta, Tridosha, Saptadhatus, Trimalas etc. Understanding and practices of Ayurveda are based on these theories. In an age where validity of concepts is judged by their scientific relevance, establishing the scientific validity of basic concepts is atmost important. It requires translating concepts and their practical application. There are many approaches still to be explored by the Researchers, practitioners, experts in the field of Ayurveda to keep the traditional system alive and contributing to its growth in the future. However, due to many barriers such as lack of literature sources in different languages and insufficiency of awareness about the basic principles, there is a lacuna of exchange of information from the system around the globe. In this work we have made an attempt to put forth the basic principles of doctrines of Ayurveda to contribute to the society. Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine that views health as a balance between the mind, body, and spirit. It is based on five fundamental elements - space, air, fire, water, and earth - that combine to form three biological energies or doshas (vata, pitta, kapha), seven tissues (dhatus), and three waste products (malas) in the body. Ayurveda aims to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through lifestyle practices, herbal remedies, yoga, and meditation.
Purva Mimamsa is an orthodox Hindu school of philosophy concerned with interpreting Vedic scriptures. It aims to ascertain the nature of dharma or ethics according to the Vedas. It accepts three pramanas or means of valid knowledge: perception, inference, and testimony of the Vedas. It believes in an eternal, omnipresent self that is distinct from the body and mind. It propounds a pluralistic theory of many individual souls. Through properly observing mandatory and occasional Vedic rituals while avoiding optional rituals, one can become liberated from rebirth through the exhaustion of karma.
Ayurveda views sleep as essential to health and life. It recognizes the importance of harmonizing the biological clock with the natural daylight cycle. Disrupting this harmony through night awakening or daytime sleeping can increase doshas and cause disease. Ayurveda recommends treatments for insomnia like head massage with oil, milk consumption, and practices that promote relaxation and kapha. These treatments aim to soothe vata, increase kapha, and establish rhythmic sleeping in tune with natural light and darkness.

(Diagnosis in Ayurveda)
(Treatment in Ayurveda)
