Axis deployable 4G/LTE solution

Editor's Notes

  • #3 In a city there are numerous situations where a surveillance solution needs to be deployed quickly but there is not fixed network connectivity. Examples include; demonstrations, temporary events & crisis management situations, amongst many others. The advent of 4G now makes is possible to stream surveillance data across a cellular network. By teaming up with Sierra Wireless we have created such a deployable surveillance solution, which takes advantage of the 4G ‘mobile data’ availability. This also provides the added benefit of re-deploying the solution to a new location when needed. Axis Zipstream technology is also extremely relevant here. This is the very latest surveillance innovation where Axis has developed intelligent compression delivering HDTV quality video with up to 90% reduced bite rate. (bandwidth) When streaming across a service providers network this will obviously have clear cost and performance benefits.
  • #5 Goals - capture hi-res video - minimize network usage when not needed - easy access/retrieval/analysis to the recorded streams - high availability and reliability - multiple customer consoles and devices - scalable architecture, unlimited number of cameras and customer consoles 1) Video motion detection or intelligent video analysis are set on the camera in order to reduce both the storage and the network usage 2) Hi-res video stream is continuously saved on the camera's SD card (Estimated capacity 24 h of video mkv files) 2a) Every hour an ad-hoc on camera script moves with FTP 1 h video on the USB storage connected to the router. Estimated capacity from 1 to 10 days of video mkv files. 3) Low-res real-time video stream is continuously saved on a smb cloud storage space. 4) The VMS can fetch the hi-res video when requested, otherwise the customer console can access to the low-res real-time video.
  • #6 To complete the solution and provide 4G connectivity a wireless gateway is a key component. Sierra came out on top in Axis own ‘Solutions Lab’ tests of numerous products. By working together in partnership across the world we also hope to connect the surveillance world with the ‘Internet of Things’ ‘Smart Cities’ & beyond.
  • #7 To summarize the complete solution is comprised of; VMS, Axis Camera, Axis Cabinet, Sierra Wireless Gateway…a simple but effective deployable surveillance solution on 4G
  • #21 We can already take this solution to the next stage by adding the latest Axis ‘thing’ to the IoT. By combining audio & video communication plus access control the Axis Door Station delivers a valuable new security and operational solution. Using the same PoE as our surveillance cameras the door station enables customers to remotely control access to sites across a city from remote locations. The availability of wireless network connectivity through the 4G cellular network would also be beneficial in many cases, hence the Sierra Wireless gateway completes this solution as well.
