Light falls on LDR, it shows its minimum resistance and voltage drops across LDR less than VBE of Transistor Q1.
So, no current will go from the collector to the emitter and transistor remains turn off.
Many of the people have a phobia of darkness, so to assist them in such situation, we have explained a simple circuit. It will automatically turn on street light in the way of LEDs or bulb coupled with relay. Working this circuit is very much easy and also the power consumed by the circuit is very low because of the very few components used in the circuit.

The main aim of this project is to saving system with LDR this is to save the power. We want to save power automatically instead of doing manual. So it’s easy to cost effectiveness. This saved power can be used in some other cases. So in villages, towns etc. we can design intelligent systems for the usage of light or we can also use this to reduce the electricity bill of our home. This project can also be used for security of the houses, banks, etc.

Transistor (BC547 NPN)
switches ON lights (LED) when the light (i.e. day
light) decreases
switches OFF lights when light falls on LDR

Now the transistor enters into ON state and at the
output side Ic current will flow through the LED.
