This document provides an introduction to the structures responsible for delivering sport in Australia. It will compare Australia's sport system to other countries and provide an overview of how sport policies, objectives, and plans are identified, developed, and implemented. The unit will cover the history of Australian sport, its federal, state and local contexts, community sport, sport and social inclusion, major sport organizations, facilities planning, and the elite sport network. It aims to help students understand employment opportunities in the sport industry.

1. An Introduction to the
Australian Sport System

3. This unit serves as an introduction to the principal
administrative structures responsible for the delivery of
sport in Australia. These structures are then compared to
those in other countries. An overview of how policies,
objectives and plans are identified, developed and
implemented in sport is also provided.

4. Learning Outcomes for this Unit
