Aquaculture, or seafood farming, is the fastest growing food production system, providing nearly half of the seafood consumed globally. It includes extensive and intensive methods and traces its history back to ancient civilizations, such as the farming of tilapia and carp. By enhancing control over aquatic environments and restoring fish populations, aquaculture addresses the increasing demand for seafood while supporting sustainable practices.
