Audio information and media can exist in several forms and formats. It includes radio broadcasts, music, sound recordings, sound effects, and audio podcasts. Audio can be stored on tapes, CDs, USB drives, memory cards, computer hard drives, and online. Common audio file formats are MP3, M4A/AAC, WAV, and WMA. Audio is either analog, replicating the original sound wave, or digital, sampling the sound wave at set intervals like a strobe light. High quality digital audio can be indistinguishable from analog but will always lack the full original signal.
