The survey analyzed responses about the film "The Descent." Only half the respondents enjoyed the film, possibly due to not liking the horror genre. Most people watched it at school rather than a cinema, so may not have paid full attention. The majority were not scared by the film, again possibly due to where or how they watched it. Understanding the target audience is important so the filmmakers know how to market it. The profile describes an 18-year-old male student who enjoys action movies and comic books and would be likely to see an action horror film such as "The Descent" with friends.

12. Analysis of Questionnaire
In the previous 10 slides there is a wide range of answers I have received from the questionnaire.
The questionnaire shows only half the people enjoyed the movie. Reasoning for this could be
they did not specifically like the type of genre as it shows within the questionnaire. Also the
questionnaire shows most people did not watch the film at home or cinema, they could’ve
watched the film at school where they are most likely to be with their friends and not pay
attention to what is happening in the film. The majority of people were not scared of the Descent
this could also link to the face that they weren’t watching the film in a cinema or they did not like
the genre of the film.
Some of the people who answered the questions do not go to cinema much, this shows that they
wouldn’t want to or just don’t go and watch new films, they would rather wait for the movie to
come out or watch it at another location.
Overall, the positive response to the movie can be that the majority of people enjoyed the blood
and gore involved in the film, this is quite important because the blood and gore can be what
makes a horror film.

Purpose of understanding the demographic of a audience
This very important demographic to be understood, so the directors of the film, The Descent, and
understand who their audience are and know who to aim it at, also knowing their specific social
group, their upbringing and education. The aspects of the film that would attract the audience
like horror, dialogue and narrative. The company would figure out the amount of spending power
they have such as the income and the finance. Then the lifestyle, the lifestyle fits in the the
spending power, will they be able to go out, shopping use gym facilities and the amount they
spend on the facilities. In this case Liam Page has had a educational upbringing and has a lot of
interests and hobbies such as going out with friends, double dates, playing sports and video
games, he has a high social class and would appeal to The Descent.
Once a demographic is understood the product can have a much bigger impact on the audience.
The audience would remember the entertainment for various reasons, one for entertainment
and since The Descent is internationally acclaimed the customer will have recognized the brand
before. By putting their trust in the film this will further promote them to buy the film and further
association in the genre. Certain audience will find The Descent entertaining and would want
products involved with The Descent. The descent would also give off unique products to the
audience almost making it exclusive. This would create a fan base for the movie which would
support and add recognition to the theme of The Descent making it very successful.

What are your hobbies? Playing sports especially football with he’s friends and team. Exercises
regularly, he also likes to play video games with friends. He also reads comic books in his spare time
especially reading x-men books.
Spending Power: Liam page is at the age of 18, just starting his independent life on his own, he can buy
films, the latest games but he does still live with his mother as he hasn’t got a full time job and cant
afford to pay bill. He has a girlfriend who is a student and she also still lives with her parents so he does
not need to spend money on partners. He does like to go out with her and shop for new clothes and go
on date nights out and he uses his money from his part time job to pay for all this by saving up. The
Descent would try and target this type of audience, because Liam does enjoy movies and could take he’s
girlfriend on a night out and also he likes action movies such as all marvel films and would like to see
action.
