Aquinas
Many philosophers have posed the question: How can I prove that God exists?
Thomas Aquinas attempted to prove the existence of God in a rational way through
his Cosmological argument. Aquinas argued that every event as we observe it has a
cause and a casual chain cannot be infinite. Therefore, a first cause is necessary and
this cause is God. Aquinas argument is unsuccessful because it assumes that God is a
necessary being, fails to prove that the world is not an infinite chain of events, and
undermines the basis of his argument by saying that God is infinite. Aquinas argued
the existenceof God with five main points. Aquinas began by saying that nothing can
be a cause of itself; rather every event was caused by some prior event. Therefore
event A causes event B that leads to event C and so forth. He believed in this cause
and effect relationship but believed that there must be a first cause as a starting point.
When contemplating this starting point Aquinas rejected the possibility of an infinite
series of events. This means that the universe has not existed forever and there must
have been something from which every single event stems. There must be an
uncaused first cause, which Aquinas concluded to be God. The first cause is called
the unmoved mover. The unmoved mover is what set all other events and beings in
motion.

One must attune to the situation, and take advantage of all things to get an edge over
his or her opponent. There are many things that either character can do to gain an
edge in their battles. However, some people are better at doing certain things than
others. Katniss and Beowulf are prone to approach this differently, and excel at
different things, thereof. When comparing the strengths and weaknesses of these two
characters, you see that while Katniss is supposed to have human emotion, just as a
normal person, Beowulf is intended to be look upon as a near god like being.
With that said, Beowulf does in fact have major weaknesses, just as he has
strengths. I see that Beowulf becomes cocky in every one of his fights, almost
without exception. While the contrary, Katniss, is able to keep her cool against
foes who would kill her quickly if they were to get close, yet seems to hold back in
fear of her ethical code being compromised. If I were to imagine a battle between
these two characters, I would see that if both parties were humans, rather than
Gods, that Katniss would win. This is due to the fact that she would easily scout
out where Beowulf and her men were going, and as Beowulf approached her she
could accurately tag him in the eye with an arrow. So that, the defeater of monsters

Poverty is one of the leading problems in America today, and most blame it on the
poor themselves. People blame it on the poor s lack of knowledge and character;
however, this is not the case. Rutger Bregman, a historian and author of Utopia for
Realists, explains that poverty isn t a lack of character; it s a lack of cash
(Bregman). Bregman provides a solid argument even though he never provides an
emotional overview of the situation. Although Bregman s speech, Poverty isn t a lack
of character; it s a lack of cash, lacked more to the emotional appeal than most are
used to when it comes to poverty, his problem solution structure and focus on facts,
statistics, and ethical incentives provided the strength that his argument needed.
Bregman approached this idea of poverty with a problem solution format. He first
brought to his audiences attention the presence of false stereotypes in society. One of
the largest came from Margaret Thatcher. She stated, Poverty is a personality defect
(Bregman). Bregman then uses this as a foundation for which many of his facts,
statistics, and solutions came from. Bregman then proves that poverty is not a
