ASSURE Method
A: Teaching Holiday traditions to 4th graders. There are 20 students 11 girls, and 9 boys. There
are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans.
S: My students will present a holiday tradition from a different religion of their choosing after
doing research and a group collaboration. The students will have two weeks to complete the
assignment in five groups of five. My students will have 95% knowledge of the different holiday
tradition represented in the classroom.
S: The students will use computers to do research, as well as to make a presentation, the students
will also use go pros to make a film if they choose, or make a traditional food from the different
holiday they have, or dress in that holiday attire, make a picture book, sing songs, perform a
play, interview family members and community members, storytelling, PowerPoint, prezi, show
and tell
U: Ask students if they have knowledge of the media or material they have chosen to use. If not
help them to learn then move on.
R: Give the students some basic information on the different holiday traditions from the
different religions represented in the classroom.
E: Have students tell the teacher what they already know about the tradition. Have students give
feedback after group presentation. After all groups are done play a game to check the
information they have learned.
