Assignment 2 FAQs
Question 1
I am eager to start my next piece of assessment, my
understanding is we have to identify and explain our
understanding of process and outcome data in delivery of safe,
high quality care.
The example I would like to use is the five moments of hand
hygiene, with promotes infection control, my data would be the
auditing process of the five moments and how this is acheived.
The outcomes would be improved patient outcomes or
adversely, death due to nosocomial infection or readmission.
Am I on the right track or does the example have to be based on
an a specific ILLNESS such as CA or pneumothorax for
example using the Donabedian model of measuring health care
such as treatment process, stages of treatment, appropriateness
of treatment and outcomes such as death, adverse events etc..
And do we have to go into depth about what the illness. or is it
just simply demonstrating our understanding of the processes
and outcomes data for an illness?

quality of nursing care NOT the process or outcome of a
disease.

If you were discussing infection you would need to discuss the
impact of the infection.For example,
1. What would be the impact on the client/patient? eg
prolonging of illness, complications, longer hospital stay,
financial costs, psychological costs,
2. What would be the impact on the health
organisation/hospital? eg Inefficiency, increased length of
patient stay, bed blocking, increased costs of hospitalisation,
possible court claim
3. What would be the impact on the state? eg Decreased
productivity of the individual if they remain hospitalised and
are unable to work, increased costs if client/patient a pensioner

In regards to the second assessment piece, it says:
"Use the scholarly literature to identify and explain the use of

The use 1 example of process and outcome data to demonstrate
your understanding of their use in providing safe, high quality

Did you want us to use the 1 example for the whole paper in
identifying and explaining the use of process and outcome data
in the delivery of safe, quality nursing care in health
institutions to demonstrate our understanding of it. Or did you
want us to address both points separately as they are explaining
what it is first, then explaining it again using the example we
choose?

How you go about addressing the question is up to you. What
you have been asked to do is:
1. Explain the use of process and outcome data in the delivery
of safe, quality nursing care in health institutions.
2. Demonstrate your understanding of these two phenomena by
providing examples of the use of both - these examples may
relate to the one issue.

I have the honor to request you to give exampler on task 2.
Assignment task and tip sheet is not clear to me.
It looks main focus of the Assignment 2 is Quality of Care in
healthcare organization. Do I need o pick up any standard like,
falls, presure injury or bed side hanover and discuss its proces
and outcomes? How it can impact on quality of care? For an
example, due to unable to notiy pressure injury, unable to do
PRIME with 24 hrs from any admission, ward or hospital has to
be charged up to $50000/-. It impact short of budget in hospital.
Due to money, hospital unable to research on dressing, and buy
modernised equipments. I affect on workload, increased stress.
Finally impact on quality of care.
Definition of quality care, I do belive it treated more than as
financial term( business term). It is not looks like giving
quality care which empower client to lead normal life. Quality
of care is not just concentrated in giving medication, doing
aADLS ad dressings. It is holistic matter. Nurses urge that
reasonable workload, quality med'n, dressing and professonal
supports can enure quality of care.But Policy makers
(Goernment) and administration think how they can make task
done by spending less money and less nurses. It is now fully
business term.
Both aspects make me confused. Do I just generally concentred
about quality of care. Critical disscussion about it in health care
organization

about what you need to do.
The focus of the assignment is safe and quality nursing care in
health organisations.
You are correct - safe quality nursing care impacts more than
the health organisation. This was discussed in Week 3a lecture
(Safety & Quality). Poor care affects the client/patient, the
health organisation/hospital and the state.
In the assignment you demonstrate how health organisations use
process and outcome data to improve the safety and quality of
nursing care- choosing one example as you indicated in your
question allows you to investigate that example in depth.
Question 4
I am having a hard time understanding the task for assessment 2
and I was wondering if you were going to upload an online
tutorial for it like you did for assessment 1? I know that you
talked about it in the week 3 tutorials but I know a lot of
students who were unable to attend and who will be on
placement for the next tutorial scheduled on campus. Thank you
for any help you can offer me

Aim:
The aim of this assignment is for the student to demonstrate an
understanding of quality and safety in healthcare, including
organisational and nursing strategies for care delivery, and
evaluation of standards of care.
Task Details and Criteria
All Australians have the right to receive safe, high quality
health care, regardless of the setting
(ACSQHC, 2008). Information about quality of care within
health care organisations is discussed under three (3)
categories: Structure, Process and Outcome (Donabedian, 1988).
· Structure - the context in which health care is delivered,
inclusive of its buildings, its staff, its financial structures, and
all its varied equipment.
· Process - activities, procedures, processes that are actually
conducted in giving and receiving care.
· Outcomes - the effects of the care on the health status of the
patient or patient population.
Information gathered about the processes used to deliver care is
identified as Process data. Information about the resultant
outcomes is identified as Outcome data. A clear relationship is
identified in literature between Process and Outcome
(Donabedian, 1988).
For this Assignment, you are required to:
1. Identify and explain the aims and core business of health
institutions from the perspective of both the organisation and
the nursing sector within the organisation
2. Identify and explain Process data and Outcome data in the
context of quality and safety in health care
3. Use one (1) example of a clinical care activity for which
process and outcome data is collected to:
· Discuss the clinical care activity in relation to quality and
safety,
· Critically analyse scholarly literature and relevant resources to
discuss the process and outcome data collected about that
activity,
· Discuss how these data are used in relation to quality and
safety in health care institutions.

Assignment 2 FAQs Question 1 I am eager to start my next piece of assessment, my understanding is we have to identify and explain our understanding of process and outcome data in delivery of safe, high quality care. The example I would like to use is the five moments of hand hygiene, with promotes infection control, my data would be the auditing process of the five moments and how this is acheived. The outcomes would be improved patient outcomes or adversely, death due to nosocomial infection or readmission. Am I on the right track or does the example have to be based on an a specific ILLNESS such as CA or pneumothorax for example using the Donabedian model of measuring health care such as treatment process, stages of treatment, appropriateness of treatment and outcomes such as death, adverse events etc.. And do we have to go into depth about what the illness. or is it just simply demonstrating our understanding of the processes and outcomes data for an illness? Thank you for your email. What would be the impact on the health organisation/hospital? eg Inefficiency, increased length of patient stay, bed blocking, increased costs of hospitalisation, possible court claim 3. What would be the impact on the state? eg Decreased productivity of the individual if they remain hospitalised and are unable to work, increased costs if client/patient a pensioner Question 2 In regards to the second assessment piece, it says: "Use the scholarly literature to identify and explain the use of process and outcome data in the delivery of safe, quality nursing care in health institutions. The use 1 example of process and outcome data to demonstrate your understanding of their use in providing safe, high quality care in health institutions." Did you want us to use the 1 example for the whole paper in identifying and explaining the use of process and outcome data in the delivery of safe, quality nursing care in health institutions to demonstrate our understanding of it. Or did you want us to address both points separately as they are explaining what it is first, then explaining it again using the example we choose? Thank you for your email.   • 3. Assignment task and tip sheet is not clear to me. It looks main focus of the Assignment 2 is Quality of Care in healthcare organization. Do I need o pick up any standard like, falls, presure injury or bed side hanover and discuss its proces and outcomes? How it can impact on quality of care? For an example, due to unable to notiy pressure injury, unable to do PRIME with 24 hrs from any admission, ward or hospital has to be charged up to $50000/-. It impact short of budget in hospital. Due to money, hospital unable to research on dressing, and buy modernised equipments. I affect on workload, increased stress. Finally impact on quality of care. Definition of quality care, I do belive it treated more than as financial term( business term). It is not looks like giving quality care which empower client to lead normal life. Quality of care is not just concentrated in giving medication, doing aADLS ad dressings. It is holistic matter. Nurses urge that reasonable workload, quality med'n, dressing and professonal supports can enure quality of care.But Policy makers (Goernment) and administration think how they can make task done by spending less money and less nurses.
