This document summarizes the design and evaluation of UbiBraille, a vibrotactile braille reading device. The study tested UbiBraille with 11 blind participants in two user studies. The first study tested character recognition accuracy, finding an overall 82% accuracy with harder characters involving 1 or 2 fingers. The second study tested word recognition accuracy under different timing conditions, finding highest accuracy (93%) with the longest (4000ms) stimulus/interval times. Results suggest UbiBraille is effective for braille reading and that leveraging existing braille knowledge improves performance. Future work will explore improving finger discrimination and developing new applications.
HoliBraille: Multipoint Vibrotactile Feedback on Mobile DevicesHugo Nicolau
Presentation at Web for All Conference 2015 (W4A'15) #w4a15
We propose HoliBraille, a system that enables Braille input and output on current mobile devices. We use vibrotactile motors combined with dampening materials in order to actuate directly on users’ fingers. The prototype can be attached to current capacitive touchscreen devices enabling multipoint and localized feedback. HoliBraille can be leveraged in several applications including educational tools for learning Braille, as a communication device for deaf-blind people, and as a tactile feedback system for multitouch Braille input. We conducted a user study with 12 blind participants on Braille character discrimination. Results show that HoliBraille is effective in providing localized feedback; however, character discrimination performance is strongly related with number of simultaneous stimuli. We finish by discussing the obtained results and propose future research avenues to improve multipoint vibrotactile perception.
Touch is one of the most common forms of sign language used in oral communication. It is most commonly used by deaf and dumb people who have difficulty hearing or speaking. Communication between them or ordinary people. Various sign-language programs have been developed by many manufacturers around the world, but they are relatively flexible and affordable for end users. Therefore, this paper has presented software that introduces a type of system that can automatically detect sign language to help deaf and mute people communicate better with other people or ordinary people. Pattern recognition and hand recognition are developing fields of research. Being an integral part of meaningless hand-to-hand communication plays a major role in our daily lives. The handwriting system gives us a new, natural, easy-to-use communication system with a computer that is very common to humans. Considering the similarity of the human condition with four fingers and one thumb, the software aims to introduce a real-time hand recognition system based on the acquisition of some of the structural features such as position, mass centroid, finger position, thumb instead of raised or folded finger.

What are the latest facts and figures on mobile retail? How do you perform a user experience design evaluation?
This workshop will start with a short overview of mobile retail stats, mobile design principles and a basic framework for user experience evaluation. We will then get hands-ons working in groups of 3 to 4 people to analyze a mobile shop in order to apply our learnings and also share our experiences.

Design and implementation of smart guided glass for visually impaired peopleIJECEIAES
The objective of this paper is to develop an innovative microprocessor-based sensible glass for those who are square measure visually impaired. Among all existing devices in the market, one can help blind people by giving a buzzer sound when detecting an object. There are no devices that can provide object, hole, and barrier information associated with distance, family member, and safety information in a single device. Our proposed guiding glass provides all that necessary information to the blind person’s ears as audio instructions. The proposed system relies on Raspberry pi three model B, Pi camera, and NEO-6M global positioning system (GPS) module. We use TensorFlow and faster region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN) approach for detection of objects and recognition of family members of the blind man. This system provides voice information through headphones to the ears of the blind person, and facile the blind individual to gain independence and freedom within the indoor and outdoor atmosphere.
