Here is some analysis of some school magazines

1. Analysis of School Front Covers

2.  The purpose for a school magazine is to inform
the students and the parents of students what is
going on in and around school and all of the
events coming up etc.
 The front cover is not as important as the ones
used in retail as it does not have to stand out on
the shelves and it doesn’t have to include some
of the details that normal magazines have.

3. I think that the layout of this
magazine is good because it
has a clear masthead, clear
sub heading and splash and a
relevant picture as the
background.
The picture that they have
chosen to use for the
background of the magazine
is of a school girl enjoying
herself in class. This was
chosen because if the reader
sees that the pupil is having a
good time it will give of a
good image for the school
saying that the students that
attend that school will enjoy
themselves.
The font used is white to
contrast with the background
and in a sans-serif font to
make it easy and clear to
read.

4. I think the layout of the
magazine cover is well thought
out as it has a masthead at the
top of the page and a large
picture as the background. This
is good because it fits to the
conventional magazine cover.
There is a logo on the top left
hand corner. It is here
because this is the first place
that any reader will look.
They have also used a colour
scheme of cyan/blue so that it
brings the blue from the logo
onto the page.

5. This front cover has a more
professional industrial feel to it.
This is because of the basic font
that has been used for the
masthead and the headings.
They have used an image of a
student in the background but they
could have made it clearer that she
is actually a student as it isn’t very
obvious.
The school motto is used
underneath the masthead. This is
good because it promotes the
school.
They have put the school website
on the page. This also makes it
seem more professional and it
useful if somebody wants to find
out more.
The headings are well spread out
and the colours of the text fits with
the theme as the colours are
industrial.
