The Spanish economy experienced its strongest growth since 2007 in the first quarter of 2015 at 2.6% annually, driven by increased private consumption, improved expectations, and lower raw material prices. Unemployment fell by 488,700 people over the past year to 23.78% and employment grew by 504,200 jobs, mostly in the private sector. The new macroeconomic forecast predicts continued growth of around 3% annually through 2018 and unemployment falling to 19.8% in 2016, with over 500,000 new jobs expected to be created in 2015.
