name Beane, Beane is unorthodox and lives a desolate life. Besides his sister, Joan,
and her husband, Harry, he has no one. Beane uses his mindto create a relationship
with a woman named Molly, Beane falls in love with his illusion of Molly, and
creates a light in his heart that before was absent. Beane used his illusion that his
mind created to make sense of being companionless, Molly helped Bean cope with
being alone, she guided him and made him feel important. The play exemplifies how
it an instinct to seek things that make sense to us, such as Beane with Molly. Through
Beane s perceptionof love, the illusion in his mind of Molly, and allowing his
apparition of Molly create true love in his heart, he was able to make sense of the
person he is. Beane s perception of love is built based on the foundation of Joan

As I watched the movie, I noticed a variety of hints that made me question Glass
character and I was a little frustrated that the other characters weren t able to pick
up on them. I first sensed that Glass was a little odd when he kept downgrading
himself and his own work. This begins when Glass is talking to Gloria and he says
that his piece is going Horrible and moves into a meeting with Amy and Caitlin
where he says that they hate his piece, it s the worst thing he s ever wrote , and
that he might as well kill himself . This all happening within the first ten minutes
of the movie, was causing red flags to pop up in my head, wondering how he could
be so self loathing and dramatic without anyone noticing. As the movie progresses,
I can see that Glass is using his self loathing to manipulate his coworkers into
helping him on his papers, dodging discipline from editors, and averting
inquisitiveness away from his pieces. One of the key phrases that I noticed he
always used was Did I do something wrong? Are you mad at me? which usually
was reverberated with a resilient no . This stressed that he was emotionally
manipulating his coworkers in order to get away with his falsified work. All of
these actions are what I would consider a flawed person. His manipulation, blatant
lies, and exaggeration s are what I believe make him a flawed especially when he

On March 25, 1931, With the Great Depression gripping the nation after the stock
market crash of 1929, people jumped on to freight trains to travel from one city to
another city in hope to search for work. A group of whites and a group of blacks who
are later called the Scottsboro boys got in a fight on a train. The Scottsboro boyswere
defending themselves and they kicked the white group off in Jackson County.
Then, two women who were on the train were trying to avoid arrest therefore
falsely accused the nine black youths (who range from the age of thirteen to
nineteen years old) of raping them. The Scottsboro boys were then arrested with
assault and rape charges added against all nine of them after the allegations were
made by Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. It was a rousing allegation in the Jim Crow
South, where many whites were attempting to maintain power just 66 years after the
end of the Civil War.
On April 6, 1931, Trials begin in Scottsboro before Judge A. E. Hawkins. On April 9,
a judge sentenced the eight convicted defendants: Clarence Norris, Charlie Weems,

Growing up, Spanish and English were spoken at home. My mom never pushed a
language on me; she more often than not just reflected what language I was
speaking. From a young age, I developed an affinity for speaking English. I was
hearing it in the classroom and around my neighborhood and I began to associate
Spanish with shame and otherness. I strove to speak more and more English at
home. My mother would speak to me in Spanish and I would solely respond in
English. Uprooted from my predominately Latinx neighborhood to a predominately

Each division has completely different experiences in life, especially when it
comes to school. Children with prelingual hard of hearing are going to be at a
severe disadvantage when it comes to learning because they don t have that basis
of the English language. It will be harder for children to learn to read because they

The Azusa Street Revival was a historical Pentecostal revival meeting that occurred
in Los Angeles, California and is the beginning of the Pentecostal movement. It was
run by William J. Seymour, an African American minister. It started with a meeting
on April 9, 1906, and proceeded until about 1915. The revival was portrayed by
euphoric spiritual encounters joined by miracles, speaking in tongues, inter racial
socialising during worship services. The members were criticized by media and
theologians for their behaviour as it was considered as outrageous and unorthodox,

scarier and in some cases even deadly. These barriers are not limited to only
language, but also to differences in cultures as well. The book entitled The Spirit
Catches You and You Fall Down by Anne Fadiman highlights the plight of a
particular Hmong family in California. The Lee family faced many hardships when
they came to America. They were normally mountain people who kept to themselves
and did their own thing without any interference or input from the people who lived

Youth chose to protest because their peers, friends, and family members were being
drafted as a part of the Selective Service Act, which forced American men to register
with a local draft board once they became 18 years old (Brannan, the United States v.
O Brien ). The draft made many youths upset because they felt that it was unfair that
the people they cared about were forced to fight in a war that they did not believe in
or want to fight in, as many felt that the United States soldiers were too harsh towards
the Vietnamese who posed no direct threat to the United States. It was felt that the

There was another rally 4 days later, which included 2,000 students. The National
Guard showed up and opened fire killing 4 students and wounding 9 others. This
event became known as the Kent State Massacre (Batchelor, Kent State Massacre ).
The students burned down the ROTC building because some people would go there
and enlist because they knew they were going to get drafted, so enlisting would at
least give them the choice to be higher in rank and gain more privilege. Therefore,
