The Legacy Of Ralph Dale Earnhardt
Ralph Dale Earnhardt, better known as Dale Earnhardt, was born to Martha Coleman and Ralph
Earnhardt on April 29, 1951. Ralph did not want to race like he did, but Dale ignored him
anyway and dropped out of high school to race. Ralph was very hard on Dale and when Ralph
died of a heart attack in 1973 it took a long time for Dale to believe that he had proven himself to
his dad. Dale had four siblings two sisters, Cathy and Kaye, and two brothers Dandy and Randy.
Dale married his first wife, Latone Brown, in 1968 at the age of seventeen. In 1969, with Latone,
Dale had his first son, Kerry Earnhardt. Latone and Dale were divorced in 1970. Dale married his
second wife in 1971, Brenda Gee. With Brenda, Dale had two more children, daughter... Show more

He also won Rookie of the year honors. During his Sophomore season, Dale, began the season
winning the Busch Clash, with 20 year old Doug Richert as his crew chief. With wins at
Charlotte, Martinsville, Bristol, and Atlanta, Dale won his first Winston Cup points
Championship. Dale was the first and only driver in all of Nascar Winston Cup to follow a
Rookie of the Year title with a Nascar Winston Cup Championship the next year. In 1981, Dale
left for Richard Childress Racing, after Osterland sold his team to J.d. Stacy, and Dale finished
the season seventh in the points standings even though he did not win a single race. At
Childress,s sugestion, the following year Dale joined car owner Bud Moore driving the #15
Wrangler Jeans sponsored Ford Thunderbird for the 1982 and 1983 seasons. Dale struggled,
during the 1982 season. He failed to finish 15 races, although he won at Darlington, and
completed the season 12th in the points standing, which was the worst of his career. At Pocono
Raceway Dale flipped after contact with Tim Richmond and suffered from a broken knee cap.
Dale overcome and won his first of twelve Twin 125 Daytona qualifying races, in 1983. Winning
at Nashville and Talladega, Dale finished eighth in the points standings. Dale returned to Richard

Save Baby Girl
Daughter is the knot that ties the family together . A baby girl..one of the most beautiful
miracles in life, one of the greatest joys we can ever know, amp; one of the reasons why there is
a extra sunshine, laughter and happiness in our life today. In many traditional cultures, fathers
and mothers would pray for a boy who would be able to help in the field. In these cultures, the
value of daughter was not understood. A father has a special relationship with his daughter as she
will judge all men by his standard. A mother s task is to show her daughter the complex task of
growing into a woman. We no longer live in an agricultural society and woman are free to
accomplish intellectually and occupationally what they couldn t in the past. A... Show more content

Man is God s best creation. His intelligence and thirst for knowledge has led him to explore even
the impossible. The exploration of space by man is an example of his thirst for knowledge and
desire for adventure. This is also one of the greatest achievements of man. Space contains the
whole universe including all the planets, the sun, the moon and the stars. The limit where the
earth s atmosphere ends is called outer space. Yuri Gagarin of Russia in 1961, became the first
man to go into space. He circled the earth in 108 minutes and returned safely. Later, in 1963,
Valentina Tereshkova became the first women to go into space. She stayed in orbit for 5 days and
returned safely to the earth. In 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin of America became the
first men to land on the moon. They reached the moon on board the spaceship Apollo 11 and spent
21 hours on its surface. They collected rock and soil samples and returned safely to the earth. As
time went on, many successful attempts were undertaken. Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to be
sent to space. Satellites and spacecrafts have been launched for various purposes. The atmosphere
in space is used for television programmes, radio broadcasts, telecommunication, etc. Satellites
provide advanced disaster warning and help to forecast the weather. Distance educational
programmes, natural resources management, etc. are controlled by satellites. Space research can

Introduction
An annual report is a portrait of the business. It embeds a sense of achievement, as well as, future
prospects into the minds of the company, as well as, its readers (Sanders, 1949).
JJB Sports plc is one of the foremost vendors of sports goods in UK. They have been facing a
tough and challenging time over the years which are reflected in their annual report. Emphasis is
mostly given on the way through which the company can complete a successful turnaround. The
annual report begins with the description of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The operating review of the company lists down the operating losses that the company faced
over year and compared it with the past years operating performance. The results suggest that the
sales revenue for the company grew over the year; however, due to higher increase in the cost of
sales the company had to face a higher gross loss than the past year (Refer to appendix A).
Moreover, the company discontinued its noncore retailing operations for the year in an attempt to
reduce the losses sustained in the past year, but the result was not positive, and the company had to
face higher loss from its core business in 2010 then both the operations combined in the past year
(JJB Sports PLC, 2011).
The KPI s did not provide a better picture for the company except for showing growth in revenues
and gross margin, and all the results were unsatisfactory (Appendix B). The net loss per share also
rose to 61.8 pence per share from the last year figure of 20.84 pence per share.
The key risks that the company faces are economic conditions, competition, key employees,
suppliers, availability of credit, financial risks, business continuity, revenue dependence, cost
saving, leased property portfolio, as well as, some other minor risks. The amount of risks faced by
the company is high, and the realization of those risks is a good possibility in light of the
performance of the company.

Super Volcano Research Paper
The World s largest volcano, the super volcano Caldera, is located in the heart of America s
northwest at Yellowstone National Park. This volcano has not erupted for over 640,000 years.
Ellie Zolfagharifard, a journalist for Daily Mail, states that if it were to erupt, the Yellowstone
Supervolcano would be one thousand times as powerful as the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption .
If the volcano erupted, a third of the liquid rock would fall back into the volcano s maw but the
rest would disperse into the atmosphere. Even though the lava would seize flowing after about 20
miles, the ash would cover a radius of about 500 miles (800 kilometers) killing anyone unfortunate
standing in its near proximity. Due to the ash of the Supervolcano, this would eventually block out
sunlight and temperatures would drop dramatically. According to Zolfagharifard, the debris would
spread to New York, and even Canada, with up to 4 feet (10 centimeters) of ash. California and
Florida would only get a dusting of ash. The lava, at an estimated temperature of 1,292 to 2,372
degrees Fahrenheit (973.1 to 1,573 Kelvins), would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though some states would not be hit by ash or lava, they would still be effected by global
temperature change, lack of interstate relationships and supply deliveries, and the emotional
bearing of watching the rest of the country retreat into madness. The volcano s fatal effects would
be more than immediately dangerous because people all over the world could obtain illness
months after the eruption due to the abundance of ashes that will forever continue to roam the
universe. Even though no one can predict if or when the super volcano will erupt, we, as a nation
should be better prepared for the expected and ultimate destruction of mankind as we know it. So

Asl And The American Sign Language
American Sign Language is the interesting, logical, and fun to learn. ASL is the fourth most used
languages in the United States. ASL is used for hearing people to get the messages across to Deaf
people and Deaf community. Deaf people use American Sign Language to communicate with their
friends, family or their loved one who is deaf. Now parents are teaching their babies to learn ASL.
The American Sign Languagegives children, their confidence, and self esteem in their lives. Deaf
Community vs. Hard of hearing is a different point of view, and their impact was to have
opportunities to have new friendships, connection to other people in the hard of hearing community
and to be able to talk with hard of hearing people easier.
The hard of hearing or non signer could be friends with deaf people by using American Sign
Language. The deaf people, hard of hearing and hearing people interact with each other in American
Sign Language. The most of the deaf people are usually comfortable communicating with hearing
people and people are happy that the hearing people are attempted using American Sign Language
to communicate and instead ignoring them. American Sign Language has overcome the
communication barrier for hard of hearing, hearing people, infants, toddlers and elderly
grandparents who could not hear. American Sign Language is a visual language, for example, the
facial expression, body movements and hand gesture. The deaf people priority was in person
interacting and eye contacts

Shawshank Redemption Film Analysis
(Part I) Nicole Rafter identifies several stock characteristics that dominate the traditional film. First,
there is the convict buddy. In The Shawshank Redemption our innocent protagonist Andy is quickly
befriended by prison veteran, Red. Red s voice can be heard narrating his thoughts about his friend
Andy. As the story goes on, their relationship is further explored to the point that the last shot is
them reuniting. Common to traditional prisonfilms is a paternalistic warden, but this is not the case
in Shawshank Prison. The warden here is very greedy and immoral which is a general a
characteristic of more recent prison films. Another stock character is a brutish guard which we see
exemplified in Captain Byron Hadley. He beats a man to death in the first act of the film. Finally,
we have Andy, who is the young hero, or at least he is fairly young when he goes into prison. He is
innocent and thus exemplifies Rafter s stock character of having an unjustly accused protagonist.
Rafter also notes stock plots that often play out. In The Shawshank Redemption, the innocent hero
Andy escapes while simultaneously bringing condemnation on the unjust members of the prison.
This plot corresponds to one of Rafter s traditional prison plots (2006, 166). Lastly, there is the idea
of stock themes in traditional prison films. Again, The Shawshank Redemption falls in line with
Rafter s theme of the unjustly jailed hero fighting against the unfair system. Rafter writes, To
restore justice,

Foolish The Penny
Do you think the penny is a waste?
Is a penny saved really a penny earned? Well not much longer it isn t, people think that we
should discontinue the penny from our current day system. In my eyes i see the penny as a
waste of time and a waste of money. There has been talk lately about discontinuing the minting of
the us penny, and after reading all four articles it s hard to say that we should keep the penny:
Penny Wise, or 2.4 Cents Foolish? (Source 1), Is the Penny Worth It? (Source 2), Give a penny
Save the day! (Source 3) The Ever Changing penny (Souce 4). In my opinion we should discontinue
the U.S. penny because it is costing us too much to produce pennies and the cost to produce it is
actually more than it s worth, many countries have already dropped the pennies and it s going just
fine for them, there is already a plan for when we are going to discontinue the pennies, so we are
prepared.
First of all,in 2011, it cost 2.4 cents just to make a penny. in 2011,it cost the U.S. mintmore than
2.4 cents to produce a penny. (Source 4, par. 4) But the cost to produce a penny now has dropped
to about 1.8 cents but it still costs more to make than it s worth. We should also get rid of the nickel
to because it costs 9.4 cents to make so they are just basically losing money by the minute. In the

Although Starbucks is operating internationally, this report is mostly based on the United States, as
this is Starbucks domestic market and until today its main operating market.
First, the internal analysis gives an overview about Starbucks as a company.
Second, the external analysis is used for analyzing the market Starbucks is operating in.
Third, the strategic options possible for Starbucks are analyzed.
Last, an explanation will be given on how Starbucks should implement the best strategic option

to differentiate the offerings of small coffee roasting companies. The market for these coffees
exploded in the U.S., as cafes opened with espresso based beverages and companies launched
extensive marketing and branding campaigns. This movement is now spreading back to Europe,
where the cafГ© concept originated. In the U.S., where coffee imports total at least 25% of overall
global volume, the specialty coffee market accounted for more than $8 billion in sales in 2002.
As the market for specialty coffees remains consistent in the Americas, significant growth
opportunities exist in emerging markets, including Asia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet
Union В– countries not historically known as coffee consumers. Rapid expansion and demand for
inexpensive, specialty coffees in these markets continues. In northern Europe, the coffee market
remains stagnant, but southern Europe offers the best growth opportunities for differentiated
coffees. In Japan, a traditional tea drinking consumer market, coffee demand is slowly growing. In
all cases, access, differentiation, cultural tastes and cost continue to be challenges facing the global
market. INTERNAL ANALYSIS

When taking a look at the Starbucks Coffee Corporation, it is essential to understand where the
company is standing today:
Starbucks has become impressively dominant in the U.S. coffee retail industry. By the end of fiscal

Autonomous Vehicle Deontology
I would choose Deontology for the programming of the autonomous vehicles. Deontology refers to
moral philosophies that focus on the rights of the individuals and on the intentions associated with
a particular behavior rather than its consequences. (Ferrell, et al, 2013, p.159). Why some other life
should be taken by the actions of the autonomous vehicle. The rights of the individuals in the video
in the other lanes would take preference over the autonomous vehicles rights. Since, the
autonomous vehicle would be programmed to not break the law and speed and follow safe
following procedures; the vehicle should be able to withstand the impact. However, even if the
impact is fatal, I believe the rights of the others in the vehicle should

Vaccinations Are An Integral Part Of Maintaining Public...
Vaccinations are an integral part of maintaining public health. In fact, they have been recognized by
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as one of the Ten Great Public Health
Achievements in the 20th Century. However, despite staggering statistical evidence in favor of
immunizations, as well as science that has been made easily accessible to the public, there is a
growing minority of citizens who hesitate or completely refuse vaccines. Vaccinehesitators have
existed since the initial introduction of vaccines (Heifferon, 2006). However, the threat of modern
vaccine hesitators differs greatly from that of their historically similar counterparts. The digital age
provides vaccine hesitators the means to network, share misinformation, and recruit without
geographic limitations. Many have settled into tightly knit online communities in which they can
share their beliefs and concerns with likeminded individuals. The growth and success of the modern
anti vaccinationmovement poses a direct threat to public health, as can be seen from the widely
publicized 2015 measles outbreak that originated at Disneyland in California (Zipprich et al., 2015).
This makes it imperative that we attempt to better understand members of these online
communities so that we can discern how best to react to them.

Montana 1948 Abusing Power
Montana 1948 by Larry Watson is a novel set during the time of post Second World War in the
rural town of Bentrock located in Mercer County, Montana USA. There are a series of events that
occur which demonstrate how abusing power can result in catastrophic consequences which affect
both individuals and communities. Characters Frank, Julian, Wes, and the whole white community
abused their capabilities which resulted in negative outcomes. Local doctor Frank Hayden is one
of the many people in the Bentrock community to overstep his power and mistreat it. By sexually
abusing a debilitated minority Sioux women he was able to commit his crimes under a cover of

Wes has carried out traits that past sheriff and father has enforced. This includes obvious and
casual racism and also the importance to family loyalty. What makes Julian and Wes different is
that Wes learns that justice is more important in a society than loyalty. By believing in this, his
abuse of power has had lesser consequences but they are still significant in the novel. Wes is
responsible for the Frank s arrest which later on caused severe family tension. But the important
consequence is that Wes didn t going to treat his brother the same as any other criminal that he d
pass in his job. Instead of jailing Frank in the town jail, Wes finds his own basement as the most
suitable option. In practicality, prisoning Frank in a basement is not the best or safest option,
especially for the people who live above that basement. If Wes fully lived by his responsibilities
and promise to justice, he would have arrested Frank in the professional matter he does with
anyone else under arrest. This may be a small mistreat of power, but it s an important one that

Why Do Americans Perceive Their Culture As Egalitarian,...
1. Why do Americans perceive their culture as egalitarian, and their society as basically fair and
equal? Is this consistent with reality? Explain.
American perceive their culture to be far because the media hides the gross inequities from the
public until they feel it is important to discuss. However, even when the media relays the messages
they are obscured from the actual truth. So, the American people think their culture is fear and
equal, but it is just an illusion created by the media.
2. How do the media play role in perpetuating inequality?
The media shapes the way Americans see our society, but it s what goes unreported that should
worry the American people. For instead, the poor and the poverty they face is the biggest
misconception portrayed by the media. The media dehumanizes the poor and makes them into
statistics or averages, rather than the people and children who are suffering to survive. Also,
when the poor are discussed they are discussed through the eyes of a middle class person which
portrays the poor like nuisance or a hassle. They blame the poor for being victims of poverty,
claiming they must have brought it on themselves. While, people read or listen to the media their
perception of others are shaped upon the tone and emotions coming from the reporter. The
American people are oblivious to the something falsely represented stories or headlines, they tend
to believe the media no matter if the information is true or false.
3. How does the media operate as an ideological tool of the rich? Explain
The article states, how media is operated by the upper class, which gives them power over the
American people and the way American s proceed things. The wealth media operators use their
power to shape our social class structure, by only telling us things to further help them. They put a
bad taste in your mouth for welfare and convince us to resent the people below us for all America s
problems. Nevertheless, they are the elite privilege, who act as a ruling government with the media
being their choice of weapon against the less fortune it.

I am interested in this topic because of my plan of influence on high school student athletes as an
athletic director. A problem of increasing concern with high school student athletes is preferential
treatment and altering the grades of exceptional athletes. Many problems and scandals are difficult
to identify because of the secrecy surrounding the situation. Grade altering is not one of those
problems. Grade altering stories are readily available in both local and national newspapers.
There is a growing problem where much of a school s popularity and funding stems from athletic
success. Even more, if a school has a student or group of students with great athletic ability, the
school will likely bend some of its rules to maintain the athletes image and eligibility.
In this study I intend to identify common administrative flaws within high schools, and identify a
strategy of grade altering corruption prevention.
All high school teachers and athletic directors should be familiar with the idea of grade altering,
and have a system in place to handle and correct any possible academic corruption. A precautionary
and preventative system can eliminate the possibility of grade altering, student athlete entitlement,
and negative media coverage of the school and athletic department.
Are there measures that can prevent the immoral and unethical practice of grade altering?

Female Repression of the 19th Century as Seen Thru the Two...
For centuries man has created this patriarchal society in which women have been treated as the
lesser entity, having no sense of self being or worth. These feelings led women to feel repressed in
their everyday life. It was in the late nineteenth century when literary writers started to expose this
female repression. Guy de Maupassant and Kate Chopin clearly express definitive examples of
female repression in their stories, The Necklaceand The Story of an Hour. During this time period,
women s role in society was that of a submissive, powerless position. They often relied solely on
their husband for direction, allowing the husband to make decisions and take lead no matter what.
In the story of The Necklace, Maupassant illustrates these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The only thing that women could take ownership of was their beauty. She danced with
intoxication, with passion, made drunk by pleasure, forgetting all, in the triumph of her beauty,
in the glory of her success, in a sort of cloud of happiness composed of all this homage, of all this
admiration, of all these awakened desires, and if that sense of complete victory which is so
sweet to a woman s heart (Maupassant 63). In this passage, Mathilde was basting in her own
beauty because it was of her own. During this time many women were forced into marriage,
resulting in a great unhappiness. Both Kate Chopin and Guy de Maupassant state this lack of
joy that was often experienced everyday by women. It was only yesterday she had thought with
a shudder that life might be long (Chopin 68). If was as if Mrs. Mallard was sickened by the idea
that her life and the way it was, would continue forever. Maupassant portrays Mathilde s
frustration in her marriage with the frequent use of the word suffered in relationship to her higher
class wants and desires. She suffered ceaselessly, feeling herself born for all the delicacies and all
the luxuries. She suffered from the poverty of her dwelling, from the wretched look of the walls,
from the worn out chairs, from the ugliness of the curtains (Maupassant 59). These two stories

The purpose of this paper is to see if there are any differences between two separate companies
that manufacture the same genre. In this paper, the chosen companies are the social networking
sites called Facebook and MySpace. The reason to analyze these two webpages is because when
Facebook was created, it replaced and putted MySpacein the shadow, and MySpace lost millions

went from MySpace to Facebook. The date viewing these two webpage was on November 19,

Principles of Design There is not much attention paid for a design when everything is correctly
ordered. The average person seldom sees design in anything at all. While we read newspapers
daily without noticing the skeletal framework that orders the headlines, photography, graphics,
text and other stylistic elements of a page (Bivins Ryan, 1995). An example could be when we
raise our glasses to toast; we do not realize that stems are designed to keep our hands from
warming the wine. A good design is like it exists, but does not call for attention to itself.

Children who are overweight are more likely to be obese as adults, increasing their risk for
diseases and conditions such as diabetes, heart attack, and high blood pressure (Ashe Edmunds 3).
High blood pressure can lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. But weight loss can help
reduce high blood pressure, so sports that burn calories address this problem.
Depending on the sport that a child participates in, most sports require physical activity. Research
has shown that physical movement can affect the brain s physiology by increasing cerebral
capillary growth, blood flow, oxygenation, growth of nerve cells in the hippocampus,
neurotransmitter levels, development of nerve connections, density of neural network, and brain
tissue volume (Donaldson 4). In other words, physical exercise causes short term relaxation,
improved concentration, enhanced creativity and memory, improved mood, and enhanced problem
solving abilities. Sport can help prevent drug and alcohol abuse by teaching young athletes to be
aware of their body and how it responds to different stimuli and circumstances. Athletes learn to
value what their bodies can do and to maintain those abilities (Jones 2). Being an athlete gives kids
an acceptable reason to say no to drugs, alcohol, and other unhealthy behaviors when offered by
their peers.

Differences Between Beowulf And Grendel
The Story of Beowulf vs Grendel To honor the Beowulf s heroic life and battles, I ve been
assigned as one of his closest warriors to exclaim his appellation and share the stories of his
battles. One of the citizen came up to me and asked, I heard that Beowulf was an amazing guy,
but I never fully knew him. Could you tell me more about him? I was extremely excited as this
man was the first person to ever ask me about Beowulf. Beowulf was a strong leader and a great
friend. Although he might not have been a very humble man, he was nowhere near being a
bully. He s the type of man that would belittle anyone who hurts the weak and innocent. Beowulf
was mettlesome and was never intimidated by any menace. The man s eyes were already
widen. He sounds like a guy I would wanna be protected by, the citizen said, Can you tell me about
one of his battles? I prepared myself as I was about to begin a long lecture of how strong Beowulf
was. I decided to share the battle against Grendelas I was there myself along side with Beowulf. Let
me tell you about Beowulf s battle against Grendel. I began with a little background of how
much of a threat Grendel was, You see, Grendel was no ordinary monster. On his first night of
attack, he swallowed thirty men whole. And ever since, Grendel had been a threat to King
Hrothgar and the Herot Hall for twelve years. The man shrugged a little, then asked, Grendel must
be a strong and big demon. How could Beowulf possibly defeat such a

The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander Essay
As Elie Wiesel once stated, I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure
suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the
victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented ( Elie Wiesel Quote ). Michelle
Alexander s book The New Jim Crow, which discusses criminal justiceand its role in mass
incarceration, promotes a similar idea regarding silence when America s racial caste system needs
to be ended; however, Alexander promotes times when silence would actually be better for the
tormented. The role of silence and lack of silence in the criminal justice system both contribute to
wrongly accused individuals and growing populations behind bars.

In this case, speaking up should not be feared; those under surveillance need to render the courage
to stand up and tell police officers that they cannot unreasonably search belongings because these
actions lead to unprovoked arrests and loss of fourth amendment rights.
Following through the process of the criminal justice system, after being stopped by police officers,
many individuals remain innocent of committing any crime and walk away from the situation
without further questions asked. However, at this point, silence is not the answer. Alexander notes
regarding the unreasonable searches, Hardly anyone files a complaint, because the last thing most
people want to do after experiencing a frightening and intrusive encounter with the police is show
up at the police station where the officer works and attract more attention to themselves (Alexander
69). Therefore, these countless searches remain unheard of by many because the innocent are too
scared to come forward and tell their stories. Perhaps if the silence is broken, word of mouth would
prevent others from being unlawfully searched and arrested based on no suspicion. This is not the
case though; nevertheless, it is known that the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) trains police to
conduct utterly unreasonable and discriminatory stops and searches (Alexander 70). The use of
such searches and methods to determine whom

Comparing Romeo And Juliet 1996 To Zeffirelli s
The play, Romeo and Juliet, is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in his early years. With
all of Shakespeare s success, it is surely not a shock to see his plays adapt overtime. From
Zeffirelli s 1968 version to Luhrmann s 1996 version, there has been a drastic change. Luhrmann
s 1996 version has taken on a modern perspective, not just within the setting but the costumes
and character personalization as well. Considering Luhrmann s 1996 version modern take on
the famous play, it would only make sense that the props would evolve to match Luhrmann s
modern setting. Swords were a major part of Zeffirelli s version in 1968, but when Luhrmann s
version came out, the sword disappeared and guns made an appearance. Nevertheless, both
weapons caused trouble and a mess, but the gun brought more chaos, screaming, and bloodshed.
Another prop which changed from Zeffirelli s version to Luhrmann s version was the horse.
Since Luhrmann s version took place in modern day, of course it would make sense to see cars
replace horses; but cars played a bigger role than any horse in Zeffirelli s version did. Luhrmann
used cars for the opening scene when the viewers were first introduced the the Montague family
and also for the car chase between Romeo and Tybalt. The props play a big role in movies, but so
do costuming and character personalization.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to Zeffirelli s party scene, Luhrmann decided to go for a more modern party and use
less traditional costumes. Instead of wearing traditional face masks, characters wore modern
halloween costumes instead. In addition to the modern costumes the audience was able to compare
the characters personalities based on their costume. For example Romeo wore a knight costume to
signify his heroic and brave personality. Luhrmann executed the party scene well and got his

Copyright And Licensing Of Art
Copyright and Licensing explained.
No artwork exhibited in an open display is invulnerable; anytime an artwork becomes known, it is
predisposed to relative alterations, falsifications, and reuse by other artists. Countless art
movements are fashioned around the revision of earlier works and representations. As an artist, one
must accept the unavoidable fact that one day there will probably be alterations to their artwork.
Once the great Pablo Picasso argued that: Bad artists copy. Good artists steal . In this essay it will
be explained the rules governing the copyright and licensing. The emphasis of this essay will be
also focusing on what are the steps to follow to grant a license to a third party in order to make it
liable to use my work of art, that in this case will be an image from one of my paintings.
The existence of copyright is indispensable especially aiming on intellectual property rights in art,
and whether it must be used not simply to protect the truth of the artist but moreover to encourage
future creativeness in the art industry. The meaning of copyright is the sole rights to generate
copies and to control literary, musical, or artistic work for a number of years; within Australia and
in many other countries this is 70 years from the artist or producers death or from the day of
publication if later.
As an artist, I am the owner of the copyright of my artworks as far as my work is original. This
means that the work must not be copied from another

History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements
Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements
The construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual
elements. Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for
centuries. In 1649, the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when
he discovered phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body
of understanding concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200
years. By the year 1869, a collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known
elements increased, scientists began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification
schemes. In 1862, a French geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the
elements on a cylinder regarding their individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that
elemental properties reoccur every seven elements. There has been some deviation on who
deserves credit for being the father of the periodic table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the
Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly produced similar results during the same
time period working individually. Meyer s 1864 textbook included a shortened version of the
periodic table, which contained about half of the known elements ordered by their atomic weight
and valence charges. In 1868, Meyer assembled a prolonged version of the periodic

The way Jeff Corwin wrote it was a mix of scientific facts and journalistic approach. It was like
reading a story and learning more than you expect. It also differs from other books that present
the same types of facts because this book is more of a wakeup call. He specified human activity as
the root of all of it and has presented actual, hard, cold facts about its effects on our own species.
Jeff Corwin s experiences were the most engaging parts of the book. He has done so much to
help save the animals and the way he tells his stories shows his passion for these animals and his
love for what he does. There were intense moments in his stories and they were very exciting as
he brought readers into his adventure. It can be seen that his facts can be verified. His sources
were specifically listed in over 60 pages of bibliography. The average global temperature rose 1.3
degrees Fahrenheit from 1906 to 2005, according to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change (IPCC), which predicts there will be an increase of 3.2 to 7.2 degrees
Fahrenheit in this century, depending on how effectively greenhouse gases are curbed. He sourced
this based on a book by the World watch Institute, State of The World 2009: Into a Warming World.
From this information it can be derived that his statement is very much true. According to the

Summary of Context In their article Doug Hillian and Marge Reitsma Street examines parents
involvement in the youth criminal justice system in Western Canada. Their study was conducting
on ten Caucasian families nine of which were middle and upper middle class, with sons, involved
in the Juvenile Criminal JusticeSystem. The study was to determine the parents place in the judicial
system, which appears to make it more arduous for parents, attempting to deal with the difficult task
of parenting young offenders, while navigating a system, which labels, blames, and assumes that as
parents they are unfit, irresponsible, and uncaring. Hillian and Reitsma argues if one starts with the

Moreover, it is with the utmost importance, that the courts strategize, on how to empower and
motivate parent s participation and involvement. The most obvious or realistic approach, would be
to utilize studies with concrete outcomes and conclusion, or expound on, or develop a study or
focus group identifying the parents needs, parenting style, barriers, and other challenges that makes
parental involvement difficult. Thus, it would allow the implementation of practical and viable
solutions, specifically changing the systemic problems, empowering parents, and forging a
collaborative relationship between the juvenile justice system, the community, and parents. Some
things, should to be immediately done, such as treating parents with empathy and respect,
understanding that they have rights and should be informed of those rights. Some of the apparent
rights of the parents are fair treatment with dignity and respect, the rights to know what the courts
expects of them, and informed of all scheduled court dates and appointments, which could be
inserted in a pamphlet. The overall benefit would be to work together in a collaborative effort to
help reduce the recidivism rate among youth and lessen the inconvenient burden of the parents,
community and juvenile justice system.

The Cultural Influence Of Safety Culture In Aviation
In the realm of aviation, safety culture is regarded as the paramount factor for which successful
travel from point A to point B occurs. Safety culture in of itself is not a fixed, precisely shared set of
standards, but rather an ever changing, fragile system that depends on a variety of influences to
maintain its distinction. Safety culture can be further broken down into its three cultural
influences: national, organizational, and professional culture. In terms of aviation safety, all three
of these cultural influences can strengthen as well as deter safe operation in unique, yet
interconnected ways. Airlines across the world implement various safety cultures to their

Ranging from mechanical/electrical issues to meteorological phenomena, most aircraft accidents
involve not one or two issues leading up to an accident, but sometimes more than half a dozen. And
more often than not, these issues can in some way be traced back to failures relating to human
factors, rather than failures on behalf of the aircraft. Most pilots would agree that one of the
scariest, if not deadly human errors involved in flying an aircraft is spatial disorientation. Spatial
disorientation often occurs during instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) and/or at night,
when the pilot has the least amount of outside visual orientation cues. Disorientation in flight, be it
of the vestibulo, ocular, or somatic senses, can prove detrimental if not recognized and corrected
for early on. What makes these illusions so dangerous is the way human bodies react to them; the
seemingly natural corrections humans undertake to combat spatial disorientation often prove to be
the opposite of what should actually be done. Even instrument rated pilots fall prey to visual
illusions and spatial disorientation in IMC, proving that some of the most qualified pilots can be
fooled. Since spatial disorientation can happen to anyone, regardless of experience, it seems the
best way to prevent disorientation related accidents is through continuing education. Although not a
perfect strategy, if every pilot became fully aware of the various in flight visual

Review of 12 Angry Men
In Twelve Angry Men, the prosecution and the defense have rested and the jury is filing into the
jury room to decide if a young Spanish American boy is innocent or guilty of murdering his father.
What starts out as an open and shut case of murder becomes instead a mini drama of each of the
jurors lives, preconceptions and prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused and
ultimately, each other. Based on the stage play, all of the film s action takes place in the juryroom.
On the surface, the case appears to be open and shut due to several facts: 1) The defendant
possess only a weak alibi 2) a knife the boy claimed to have lost is then found at the murder scene
by the police 3) several witnesses claimed to have been heard screaming, observed the killing or
the boy running from the scene. In the beginning, 11 of the jurors immediately vote guilty with
only Juror No. 8 casting a not guilty vote. At first the juror(Mr. Davis) bases the vote more for the
sake of discussion. The jurors in the room must believe beyond a reasonable doubt that the boy
defendant is guilty of murdering his father. As the jury s deliberations unfold, the story quickly
becomes an intimate study of the jurors very complex personalities. These personalities range from
the wise, bright and empathetic to the arrogant or prejudiced and even merciless. This provides the
immediate backdrop to Mr. Davis attempts to convince the other jurors that a not guilty verdict
might be appropriate

Key Themes In Peter Carey s Exotic Pleasures
There are multiple themes that can be discussed from Peter Carey s short story, Exotic Pleasures.
The story s main characters are husband and wife whose life is in a tangle before they meet their
other companion, the bird. The couple is driving in town, torn in deciding how they will use
their remaining few dollars. They even contemplate that they will take food and champagne and
leave without paying for them. However, before they do this, the bird brings in a new kind of
fortune for Lilly. Once she strokes the bird, she feels certain kind of pleasure, which she shares
with her husband and many people afterward. The bird can provide them with extra coins, but the
story does not end with them staying happily ever after. Lilly eventually confesses to Mort that
she thinks that he is angry because a tiny bird could give her the things he could not offer. They
almost run into an accident and bitterness of the argument leads them to drive to a new place,
Kennecott, where they meet more of the similar birds. The story ends in suspense as we do not
know what Lilly and Mort do with the newly found exotic pleasures. The setting of the story
contributes to the outlining of the themes in a massive way. This essay examines ways in which the
setting relates to the themes of the story. In the story, Peter Carey suggests that capitalism is out of
control. This theme is supported by different expressions of the setting in the story. The first setting

The North Carolina At Chapel Hill Essay
As today s controversy surrounding Confederate memory grows, it begins to include not just the
popular monuments to the Confederacy such as Stone Mountain, and monuments to General Lee,
Jefferson Davis, and Nathan Forrest. Now even lesser memorials such as Silent Sam have also
come under attack from civil rights activists lately. Silent Sam has stood on the University of North
Carolinas main campus in Chapel Hill for over 100 years. In that time there have only been a few
times in which Sam has been the object of criticism.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one of the most prestigious and well known

naked lunch Essay
The play Naked Lunch by Michael Hollinger focuses on the relationship between the two characters
Vernon and Lucy. The two had previously had a romantic relationship, but for whatever reason
ended it. In an attempt to get Lucy back, Vernon invites her to have a steak dinner with him. When
Lucy refuses to eat the steak (due to the fact that she is now a vegetarian), things quickly take the
turn for the worst. Throughout the play Vernon is controlling, demeaning, manipulative and
abusive, and though it seems that Lucy tried to turn her life around and wants better for herself, she
is submissive towards him. While telling the story of a previously estranged couple, Michael
Hollinger uses metaphor, imagery and characterization in order to show... Show more content on

The awkward vase is a metaphor for their relationship and the diner itself. Make sure that im not
confusing metaphor with imagery; refrence draft corrections by professor. Also cite for
paraphrases. The fact that Lucy is now a vegetarian is a huge part of this play. It shows us that
she is not only trying to make herself a better person than she was while in the relationship with
Vernon, but also that she is done with Vernon, (or at least wants to be). Lucy said she had done
some soul searching while they were separated and decided to not eat meat. This decision is a
metaphor for Lucy deciding she want to cut Vernon off. However Vernon does not have the
same desire, he wants her back. While she is giving reasons for why she decided to become a
vegetarian, Vernon is shooting every one of them down come up with another way to say
this....apparently this is slang.. He says that her reasons are stupid and have no merit and should
stop listening to what others tell her. This is Vernon s way of telling Lucy that she has no good
reason to leave him and should stop listening to her family and friends. Lastly, the steak is also a
metaphor for rape. The way Vernon forces the meat in her mouth is symbolic of him forcing
himself on Lucy. She is terrified while he is assaulting her They are locked in a struggle, he
menacing, she terrified (Hollinger

Rule Maker Rule Breaker By James Miller Summary
Dancing out of Reality
James S. Miller, a professor at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, challenges, Is what we are
shown on reality television, in fact, real? (94). In James Miller s essay, Rule Maker ... Rule
Breaker, he discusses the different viewpoints on reality television shows. To producers, reality
television shows are perceived as real; however, to actors and actresses, reality television shows are
perceived as fake (Miller 94 95). While James Miller introduces both perspectives of reality
television shows, the perspective of the actors and actresses is accurate because reality television
shows are an exaggeration of real life. Set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dance Moms features the

For the amusement of viewers, the notorious mothers fight constantly. In season 1, episode 4
Stealing the Show, Christi Lukasiak, Chloe s mother, and Melissa Gisoni, Mackenzie and
Maddie s mother, fight about their daughters solos. Abby Miller gives Chloe one solo and
Maddie two solos. Lukasiak believes Gisoni should pull Maddie s second solo because Maddie
is given an advantage to win. During the awards ceremony at the competition, Chloe is awarded
fourth, and Maddie is awarded first and third. Lukasiak is jealous because Gisoni s daughter
placed higher than her daughter (Baker, Stealing the Show ). Realistically, when a dance team
attends a competition, mothers support all of the girls. No mother would actually be as
ungrateful for a solo for her daughter as Lukasiak displays. Likewise, in season 3, episode 37
The Big Not So Easy, Lukasiak and Leslie Ackerman, Payton s mother, fight about Payton
becoming a member of the Abby Lee Dance Company outside of a bar in New Orleans,
Louisiana. During their fight, Lukasiak flips Ackerman s drink out of her hand. The mothers start
attacking each other, and Lukasiak s husband separates them. Lukasiak believes that she is above
Ackerman because her daughter is an original member of The Abby Lee Dance Company (Baker,

What I Love About Hallmark Is Much Like Air Bud...
What I love about Hallmark is, much like Air Bud Entertainment, it s a very family friendly

What was the first film/show you got to do some writing? Please tell us about how that writing job
came along and how you got that job.
From 2006 2008, while I was working as a creative executive at Brightlight Pictures, I was
fortunate to develop and work on really cool films and TV series such as the half hour comedy
About A Girl for The N Network/Global. One project was a book that I loved called OLD
SOULS, and is based on a true story. The author, Tom Shroder, was an editor at the Washington
Post Magazine, and as a curious but skeptical man, convinced the acclaimed psychologist, Dr. Ian
Stevenson, to allow him access on his journey through India and Lebanon, meeting various case
studies of children who could remember and recount details about their past lives that would be
completely impossible for them to know otherwise. Over the course of the journey and his book,
Tom went from skeptic to believer.
I found the material fascinating, and was so passionate about the book that I convinced Tom, via
his agent, to allow Brightlight Pictures to option his book, and then I convinced Brightlight to let
me write the adaptation. The development was funded by Telefilm Canada and CHUM. This was

How Does Shakespeare Present Jealousy In Othello
Explore How Shakespeare Presents The Theme Of Jealousy In Othello
During Elizabethan times, jealousy had a significantly wider meaning than it does in today s
society. Then, it was most often used in order to indicate suspicion of someone s sexual partner.
Within the play, Shakespeare has used two of the main characters, Iagoand Othello in order to
represent the jealousy, specifically focussing on the tragedy it can cause and how jealousy can lead
to the downfall of the perceived tragic hero.
The character of Iago is extremely envious of those who he deems to be of higher power than him
or have what he desires, such as Cassio being giving the lieutenancy over him, Othello having
Desdemona and Roderigo having money. He reveals in his soliloquy ... Show more content on

During Elizabethan times, being cuckolded severely damaged your reputation beyond repair and
left society with a lower view of you, it also made you an easy target for humiliation. He warns
Othello to beware of jealousy, O, beware, my lord, of jealousy!/It is the green eyed monster,
which doth mock/The meat it feeds on. Through this metaphor, Iago is slyly persuading Othello to
think about the jealousy that mocks the jealous person. The phrase green eyed monster implies the
destruction that can come from jealousy through the connotations of the noun monster , plus the
colour green connotes envy, greed, and jealousy. His warning directly indicates the chaotic
impact that jealousy will have on Othello s life and foreshadows the way in which Othello s
irrational jealousy will make a fool out of him and lead to his downfall. At the same time, Iago
knows that telling Othello not to be jealous will only lead to an increase his

Bo Jackson Myths
The Myth of Bo Many people think the stories of Bo Jackson are just a myth. Bo Jackson was an
absolutely amazing athlete during high school, college, and the pros. He did many things for
baseball and football inside and outside of the game. With Bo Jackson completely smashing
records in high school and being an amazing hall of fame athlete in both the NFL and MLB he set
the tone for many athletes to want to live up to the legacy of Bo Jackson. It wasn t all easy for him
though with hardships through school and childhood.

Abraham As A Creator And Father In The Bible
Abraham Originally Abram, is portrayed as a founder and father in all three holy books, (the
New Testament, the Quran, and Bible) specifically in the Bible, he is referred to as a spiritual
father . The story in the Bible says that after the flood, and the death of Noah, 350 years after
Noah s Ark, a man is born and his name is Abraham. God calls upon Abraham living in Haran, a
city in upper Mesopotamia, with his father Terah, and his wife, Sarai, or (Sarah). God makes a
covenant with Abram, promising to make Abram s descendants into a great nation. After
hearing this from God, Abram agrees to leave his home and move southwest to Canaan with his
wife and his nephew, Lot, to a land which God has promised to give to Abram s descendants.
Abram takes up residence there and creates several altars throughout the land as symbols to
prove his devotion to God. Soon after his stay in Egypt, Abram becomes wealthy and returns to
Canaan, and with the help of 318 men, he defeats marauding armies from the East that has
descended upon Sodom, where Lot is currently living. The king of Sodom recognizes Abram for
his great deed, and the priest Melchizedek blesses Abram with a gift of bread and wine. Soon
after, God comes to him again, telling Abraham that he and Sarah will have a child of his own,
and when Abraham is 100 and his wife is 90, God gives them a child, named Isaac, his name
meaning happiness. Once Isaac is older, Abraham is once again, asked to prove his devotion to

them more information about the common ancestor of dinosaurs, and how they came to rule the
earth for millions of years. The author gives us an example of what the ancestor of dinosaurs may
have looked like, by telling us that it probably looked something like a chicken . Just as there was a
mass extinctionthat wiped out most dinosaurs, there was a mass extinction millions years before,
that gave the dinosaurs an opportunity to rise and evolve. 252 millions years ago, between the
Permian and Triassic periods a mass extinction wiped out most life on Earth. This gave the

The oldest piece of evidence showing that the first dinosaurs showed up during the Triassic time
period, are the fossil footprints found that date back 250 million years, although not everyone is
convinced that the footprints are definite evidence. Scientists are not sure how to classify some of
the earliest species found between the three main branches of the dinosaur family tree: Theropods(
two legged meat eaters), Sauropodomorphs(four legged, long neck plant eaters), and Ornithiscians
( bird hipped dinosaurs). Although these fossils help paleontologists discover new information,
new findings also come from close relatives of dinosaurs, just like a long talk with an estranged
cousin can help fill in family history, these discoveries are illuminating how dinosaurs evolved
alongside other animals . One of the relatives that helped with this process are the silesaurids. Their
bones help illuminate crucial differences between dinosaurs and their relatives deep in the

Walt Disney at the Beginning
You walk into the living room and you hear the famous Disney music coming from the television
that your child is placed in front of. You start to wonder where did your favorite Disney movies
came from? How did they come about into the human world or how were they produced? What
was Walt Disney s childhood like when he was younger that made him want to animate and put
together cartoons and movies? Where did his career start off from and how did he get to such a
place. But the more important question, who is taking over now that Walt Disneyhas passed? Who
is keeping on the traditions of Mickey and all of his famous characters? These are some
questions that I set out to look more upon of Walt Disney. In what I ve researched is what is
going to be presented to you in Walt Disney: A Key to Childhood Hearts. On December 5th.
1901 in the town of Chicago, Illinois a baby boy was born with the name of Walter Elias Disney,
or as we know, Walt Disney. Growing up as a child Walt s father, Elias, was a very strict and
religious man. His father would physically beat him and his siblings if any sort of toys,
drawings, or any type of entertainment was found around the house. His wife, Flora, feared him
too. When Walt was born his father was a construction worker and his mother a stay at home mom
to five Disney children. His father later then took up a farm in Marceline, Missouri where they
then moved to. Walter always loved all the animals on the farm and felt like they were his friends.

Bonin explains, These techniques exemplify Nike s core message of Just Do It with their own
imaginative methods. Nike used a young boy as their lead role to demonstrate their message of
embracing everything that s thrown at you. For example, the protagonist tries out soccer and scores
a goal appealing to the audience that trying something new can always be fun. In every scene, we
see the protagonist enjoying himself and not letting the moment of the game have too much of an
effect on the way he plays. This shows that without the athletic apparel Nike showcased on the
advertisement, you re more likely to dream then make your story a reality. Nike shows us that it
is more than just a brand. We clearly see that in the action filled scenes that bring the Nike
message into motion. Every scene is unexpected allowing us to live in the action of the protagonist
as the camera angles change with the scenery. We are put in the spotlight with the protagonist
showing us the joy and excitement of playing with different pro athletes. The experience is an
unforgettable one, which leaves a positive impression not only on the people but the Nike brand as
a whole. The advertisement shows that the first step to playing with the pros is to just do

Social Problems Of The Troubles In Ireland
Social Problems of the Troubles in Ireland For about 150 years Ireland and neighboring countries
have struggled with social controversy and segregation that has consumed society and its views,
which have been labeled as the Troubles . Ireland has struggled to become peaceful and accept the
ties it has to the United Kingdom. In every country there is hate, wars, and events that cause the
population to raise up arms and try to get their points across, but in Irelandit has lasted a very long

The IRA is the Irish Republican Army made up of Irish volunteers since 1919. Many of the
volunteers have been involved in street riots, hate crimes, and violence. They are known for
burning homes and shooting civilians. (Coogan, 1993, 4) Throughout 1920 s to the 1990 s
Ireland had some serious problems. New groups kept springing up, creating violence, riots, and
rebellions. Around 1918 the War of Independence had begun and lasted until July 1921.
(Douglas, 1999, 104) On Sunday, November 22 the event that is very well known as Bloody
Sunday occurred. Assassinations and brutal killings took place; the IRA killed fourteen British
officers in Dublin and killed 12 people during a football match. (Douglas, 1999, 105) Ireland s
militia grew tired of the IRA unlawful acts. In the early 1930 s the economic war began due to
land payments owed to Britain. (Douglas, 1999, 118) During this time riots broke out killing 12
people, injuring 600, and driving 2000 people from their homes because of disputes between the
North and the South.(Douglas, 1999, 129) Nationalism has been one of the leading ideals

The Jungle Corruption
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair details the life of a Lithuanian immigrant named Jurgis, in the late
1800 s. In the novel, Jurgis and his family immigrate to America in order to find prosperity and
follow the American Dream . However, upon reaching reaching America, they face many trials
and tribulations. Foremost, no one in the family is able to speak English, as well as being poor
immigrants that are easily taken advantage of by society. Initially, Jurgis tries to keep his head up
and tries through his own work to succeed, but as the events of the novel unfold, we see him tore
down and corrupted. The moral corruption of Jurgis can be seen as a reflection of the environment
in which he lived. In the end, Jurgis believed that the capitalistic society that he lived in was against
the common man. The Jungleillustrates how greed and unchecked capitalism can have
devastating effects on people. Capitalism fosters greed that when left unchecked can push people
to their moral and physical limits in order to make a profit from others. This led to many people
entering a cycle where they could not leave the factories and cities because they had no way to
support themselves besides working in terrible conditions. This is illustrated in real life instances
and in The Jungle. Many Americans feared that the great industrialists were reducing freemen to
wage slaves (Rise of Unions). This quote exemplifies that even though the workers of the factories
were not slaves they were

Entering The Class, English Comp
Entering the class, english comp. one, I had many fears as to what the class would be like. I had
no idea what to expect as a senior in highschool. During the past english classes I had, we wrote
papers, just not a different one every day. Going into english comp. one, I figured it would be the
same method in english just like the past classes I had. On the very first day in the class, I quickly
found out that I would have to buckle down a little more than I have been in the past. I knew then,
from what Mrs. Garth had told us, that I was going to have many weaknesses while writingmy
papers, but I would also have many strengths from what I had learned in the past about writing.
In August, our first day in the college class, Mrs. Garth talked with the class about what this
semester was going to be like. She spoke to us as college students and not little children. She told
us that Comp. was all about writing. As a class, we knew there would be more writing than we
were use to, but the very first paperthat Mrs. Garth told us to write was unlike any other paper I
had ever wrote on my own. We were told to write about our favorite foods, our not so favorite
foods, or a tragedy that has happened to us in our life. Of course, I wrote about the tragedy, my
paper was written on the note of my grandmother passing away. I used very descriptive details in
my writing about what the days were like for me and how I felt after she was gone. While writing
the paper, I thought to myself

A baby girl..one of the most beautiful miracles in life, one of the greatest joys we can ever know, amp; one of the reasons why there is a extra sunshine, laughter and happiness in our life today. In many traditional cultures, fathers and mothers would pray for a boy who would be able to help in the field. In these cultures, the value of daughter was not understood. A father has a special relationship with his daughter as she will judge all men by his standard. A mother s task is to show her daughter the complex task of growing into a woman. Man is God s best creation. His intelligence and thirst for knowledge has led him to explore even the impossible. The exploration of space by man is an example of his thirst for knowledge and desire for adventure. This is also one of the greatest achievements of man. Space contains the whole universe including all the planets, the sun, the moon and the stars. The limit where the earth s atmosphere ends is called outer space. Yuri Gagarin of Russia in 1961, became the first man to go into space. He circled the earth in 108 minutes and returned safely. Later, in 1963, Valentina Tereshkova became the first women to go into space. She stayed in orbit for 5 days and returned safely to the earth. In 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin of America became the first men to land on the moon. They reached the moon on board the spaceship Apollo 11 and spent 21 hours on its surface. They collected rock and soil samples and returned safely to the earth. As time went on, many successful attempts were undertaken. Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to be sent to space. The operating review of the company lists down the operating losses that the company faced over year and compared it with the past years operating performance. The results suggest that the sales revenue for the company grew over the year; however, due to higher increase in the cost of sales the company had to face a higher gross loss than the past year (Refer to appendix A). Moreover, the company discontinued its noncore retailing operations for the year in an attempt to reduce the losses sustained in the past year, but the result was not positive, and the company had to face higher loss from its core business in 2010 then both the operations combined in the past year (JJB Sports PLC, 2011). The KPI s did not provide a better picture for the company except for showing growth in revenues and gross margin, and all the results were unsatisfactory (Appendix B). The net loss per share also rose to 61.8 pence per share from the last year figure of 20.84 pence per share. The key risks that the company faces are economic conditions, competition, key employees, suppliers, availability of credit, financial risks, business continuity, revenue dependence, cost saving, leased property portfolio, as well as, some other minor risks. The amount of risks faced by the company is high, and the realization of those risks is a good possibility in light of the performance of the company. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Super Volcano Research Paper The World s largest volcano, the super volcano Caldera, is located in the heart of America s northwest at Yellowstone National Park. This volcano has not erupted for over 640,000 years. Ellie Zolfagharifard, a journalist for Daily Mail, states that if it were to erupt, the Yellowstone Supervolcano would be one thousand times as powerful as the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption . If the volcano erupted, a third of the liquid rock would fall back into the volcano s maw but the rest would disperse into the atmosphere. Even though the lava would seize flowing after about 20 miles, the ash would cover a radius of about 500 miles (800 kilometers) killing anyone unfortunate standing in its near proximity. Due to the ash of the Supervolcano, this would eventually block out sunlight and temperatures would drop dramatically. According to Zolfagharifard, the debris would spread to New York, and even Canada, with up to 4 feet (10 centimeters) of ash. California and Florida would only get a dusting of ash. The lava, at an estimated temperature of 1,292 to 2,372 degrees Fahrenheit (973.1 to 1,573 Kelvins), would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The volcano s fatal effects would be more than immediately dangerous because people all over the world could obtain illness months after the eruption due to the abundance of ashes that will forever continue to roam the universe. Even though no one can predict if or when the super volcano will erupt, we, as a nation should be better prepared for the expected and ultimate destruction of mankind as we know it. • 6. Asl And The American Sign Language American Sign Language is the interesting, logical, and fun to learn. ASL is the fourth most used languages in the United States. ASL is used for hearing people to get the messages across to Deaf people and Deaf community. Deaf people use American Sign Language to communicate with their friends, family or their loved one who is deaf. Now parents are teaching their babies to learn ASL. The American Sign Languagegives children, their confidence, and self esteem in their lives. Deaf Community vs. Hard of hearing is a different point of view, and their impact was to have opportunities to have new friendships, connection to other people in the hard of hearing community and to be able to talk with hard of hearing people easier. The hard of hearing or non signer could be friends with deaf people by using American Sign Language. The deaf people, hard of hearing and hearing people interact with each other in American Sign Language. The most of the deaf people are usually comfortable communicating with hearing people and people are happy that the hearing people are attempted using American Sign Language to communicate and instead ignoring them. • 7. Shawshank Redemption Film Analysis (Part I) Nicole Rafter identifies several stock characteristics that dominate the traditional film. First, there is the convict buddy. In The Shawshank Redemption our innocent protagonist Andy is quickly befriended by prison veteran, Red. Red s voice can be heard narrating his thoughts about his friend Andy. As the story goes on, their relationship is further explored to the point that the last shot is them reuniting. Common to traditional prisonfilms is a paternalistic warden, but this is not the case in Shawshank Prison. The warden here is very greedy and immoral which is a general a characteristic of more recent prison films. Another stock character is a brutish guard which we see exemplified in Captain Byron Hadley. He beats a man to death in the first act of the film. Finally, we have Andy, who is the young hero, or at least he is fairly young when he goes into prison. He is innocent and thus exemplifies Rafter s stock character of having an unjustly accused protagonist. Rafter also notes stock plots that often play out. In The Shawshank Redemption, the innocent hero Andy escapes while simultaneously bringing condemnation on the unjust members of the prison. This plot corresponds to one of Rafter s traditional prison plots (2006, 166). Lastly, there is the idea of stock themes in traditional prison films. Again, The Shawshank Redemption falls in line with Rafter s theme of the unjustly jailed hero fighting against the unfair system. Rafter writes, To restore justice, ... • 8. Foolish The Penny Do you think the penny is a waste? Is a penny saved really a penny earned? Well not much longer it isn t, people think that we should discontinue the penny from our current day system. In my eyes i see the penny as a waste of time and a waste of money. There has been talk lately about discontinuing the minting of the us penny, and after reading all four articles it s hard to say that we should keep the penny: Penny Wise, or 2.4 Cents Foolish? (Source 1), Is the Penny Worth It? (Source 2), Give a penny Save the day! (Source 3) The Ever Changing penny (Souce 4). In my opinion we should discontinue the U.S. penny because it is costing us too much to produce pennies and the cost to produce it is actually more than it s worth, many countries have already dropped the pennies and it s going just fine for them, there is already a plan for when we are going to discontinue the pennies, so we are prepared. First of all,in 2011, it cost 2.4 cents just to make a penny. in 2011,it cost the U.S. mintmore than 2.4 cents to produce a penny. (Source 4, par. 4) But the cost to produce a penny now has dropped to about 1.8 cents but it still costs more to make than it s worth. We should also get rid of the nickel to because it costs 9.4 cents to make so they are just basically losing money by the minute. The market for these coffees exploded in the U.S., as cafes opened with espresso based beverages and companies launched extensive marketing and branding campaigns. This movement is now spreading back to Europe, where the cafГ© concept originated. In the U.S., where coffee imports total at least 25% of overall global volume, the specialty coffee market accounted for more than $8 billion in sales in 2002. As the market for specialty coffees remains consistent in the Americas, significant growth opportunities exist in emerging markets, including Asia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union В– countries not historically known as coffee consumers. Rapid expansion and demand for inexpensive, specialty coffees in these markets continues. In northern Europe, the coffee market remains stagnant, but southern Europe offers the best growth opportunities for differentiated coffees. In fact, they have been recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as one of the Ten Great Public Health Achievements in the 20th Century. However, despite staggering statistical evidence in favor of immunizations, as well as science that has been made easily accessible to the public, there is a growing minority of citizens who hesitate or completely refuse vaccines. Vaccinehesitators have existed since the initial introduction of vaccines (Heifferon, 2006). However, the threat of modern vaccine hesitators differs greatly from that of their historically similar counterparts. The digital age provides vaccine hesitators the means to network, share misinformation, and recruit without geographic limitations. Many have settled into tightly knit online communities in which they can share their beliefs and concerns with likeminded individuals. The growth and success of the modern anti vaccinationmovement poses a direct threat to public health, as can be seen from the widely publicized 2015 measles outbreak that originated at Disneyland in California (Zipprich et al., 2015). There are a series of events that occur which demonstrate how abusing power can result in catastrophic consequences which affect both individuals and communities. Characters Frank, Julian, Wes, and the whole white community abused their capabilities which resulted in negative outcomes. Local doctor Frank Hayden is one of the many people in the Bentrock community to overstep his power and mistreat it. Is this consistent with reality? Explain. American perceive their culture to be far because the media hides the gross inequities from the public until they feel it is important to discuss. However, even when the media relays the messages they are obscured from the actual truth. So, the American people think their culture is fear and equal, but it is just an illusion created by the media. 2. How do the media play role in perpetuating inequality? The media shapes the way Americans see our society, but it s what goes unreported that should worry the American people. For instead, the poor and the poverty they face is the biggest misconception portrayed by the media. The media dehumanizes the poor and makes them into statistics or averages, rather than the people and children who are suffering to survive. Also, when the poor are discussed they are discussed through the eyes of a middle class person which portrays the poor like nuisance or a hassle. They blame the poor for being victims of poverty, claiming they must have brought it on themselves. While, people read or listen to the media their perception of others are shaped upon the tone and emotions coming from the reporter. The American people are oblivious to the something falsely represented stories or headlines, they tend to believe the media no matter if the information is true or false. 3. With all of Shakespeare s success, it is surely not a shock to see his plays adapt overtime. From Zeffirelli s 1968 version to Luhrmann s 1996 version, there has been a drastic change. Luhrmann s 1996 version has taken on a modern perspective, not just within the setting but the costumes and character personalization as well. Considering Luhrmann s 1996 version modern take on the famous play, it would only make sense that the props would evolve to match Luhrmann s modern setting. Swords were a major part of Zeffirelli s version in 1968, but when Luhrmann s version came out, the sword disappeared and guns made an appearance. Nevertheless, both weapons caused trouble and a mess, but the gun brought more chaos, screaming, and bloodshed. Another prop which changed from Zeffirelli s version to Luhrmann s version was the horse. Since Luhrmann s version took place in modern day, of course it would make sense to see cars replace horses; but cars played a bigger role than any horse in Zeffirelli s version did. History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements The construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual elements. Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for centuries. In 1649, the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when he discovered phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body of understanding concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200 years. By the year 1869, a collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known elements increased, scientists began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification schemes. In 1862, a French geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the elements on a cylinder regarding their individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that elemental properties reoccur every seven elements. There has been some deviation on who deserves credit for being the father of the periodic table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly produced similar results during the same time period working individually. Thus, it would allow the implementation of practical and viable solutions, specifically changing the systemic problems, empowering parents, and forging a collaborative relationship between the juvenile justice system, the community, and parents. Some things, should to be immediately done, such as treating parents with empathy and respect, understanding that they have rights and should be informed of those rights. Some of the apparent rights of the parents are fair treatment with dignity and respect, the rights to know what the courts expects of them, and informed of all scheduled court dates and appointments, which could be inserted in a pamphlet. Safety culture in of itself is not a fixed, precisely shared set of standards, but rather an ever changing, fragile system that depends on a variety of influences to maintain its distinction. Safety culture can be further broken down into its three cultural influences: national, organizational, and professional culture. In terms of aviation safety, all three of these cultural influences can strengthen as well as deter safe operation in unique, yet interconnected ways. Ranging from mechanical/electrical issues to meteorological phenomena, most aircraft accidents involve not one or two issues leading up to an accident, but sometimes more than half a dozen. And more often than not, these issues can in some way be traced back to failures relating to human factors, rather than failures on behalf of the aircraft. Most pilots would agree that one of the scariest, if not deadly human errors involved in flying an aircraft is spatial disorientation. Spatial disorientation often occurs during instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) and/or at night, when the pilot has the least amount of outside visual orientation cues. Disorientation in flight, be it of the vestibulo, ocular, or somatic senses, can prove detrimental if not recognized and corrected for early on. What makes these illusions so dangerous is the way human bodies react to them; the seemingly natural corrections humans undertake to combat spatial disorientation often prove to be the opposite of what should actually be done. Even instrument rated pilots fall prey to visual illusions and spatial disorientation in IMC, proving that some of the most qualified pilots can be fooled. Since spatial disorientation can happen to anyone, regardless of experience, it seems the best way to prevent disorientation related accidents is through continuing education. Although not a perfect strategy, if every pilot became fully aware of the various in flight visual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Review of 12 Angry Men In Twelve Angry Men, the prosecution and the defense have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Spanish American boy is innocent or guilty of murdering his father. What starts out as an open and shut case of murder becomes instead a mini drama of each of the jurors lives, preconceptions and prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused and ultimately, each other. Based on the stage play, all of the film s action takes place in the juryroom. On the surface, the case appears to be open and shut due to several facts: 1) The defendant possess only a weak alibi 2) a knife the boy claimed to have lost is then found at the murder scene by the police 3) several witnesses claimed to have been heard screaming, observed the killing or the boy running from the scene. In the beginning, 11 of the jurors immediately vote guilty with only Juror No. 8 casting a not guilty vote. At first the juror(Mr. Davis) bases the vote more for the sake of discussion. The jurors in the room must believe beyond a reasonable doubt that the boy defendant is guilty of murdering his father. As the jury s deliberations unfold, the story quickly becomes an intimate study of the jurors very complex personalities. These personalities range from the wise, bright and empathetic to the arrogant or prejudiced and even merciless. This provides the immediate backdrop to Mr. Davis attempts to convince the other jurors that a not guilty verdict might be appropriate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The couple is driving in town, torn in deciding how they will use their remaining few dollars. They even contemplate that they will take food and champagne and leave without paying for them. However, before they do this, the bird brings in a new kind of fortune for Lilly. Once she strokes the bird, she feels certain kind of pleasure, which she shares with her husband and many people afterward. The bird can provide them with extra coins, but the story does not end with them staying happily ever after. Lilly eventually confesses to Mort that she thinks that he is angry because a tiny bird could give her the things he could not offer. They almost run into an accident and bitterness of the argument leads them to drive to a new place, Kennecott, where they meet more of the similar birds. The story ends in suspense as we do not know what Lilly and Mort do with the newly found exotic pleasures. The setting of the story contributes to the outlining of the themes in a massive way. This essay examines ways in which the setting relates to the themes of the story. In the story, Peter Carey suggests that capitalism is out of control. Of course, I wrote about the tragedy, my paper was written on the note of my grandmother passing away. I used very descriptive details in my writing about what the days were like for me and how I felt after she was gone. While writing the paper, I thought to myself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
