Essay On It Industry
Writing an essay on the IT industry can be quite challenging due to the dynamic nature of the
subject matter. The IT industry is constantly evolving with rapid technological advancements,
making it crucial to stay updated on the latest trends and developments. Additionally, the
vastness of the IT sector encompasses various subfields such as artificial intelligence,
cybersecurity, software development, and more, making it a daunting task to cover everything
comprehensively in a single essay.
Moreover, finding credible and up-to-date sources for information can be challenging, as the
industry is characterized by a wealth of technical jargon and complex concepts. Distilling these
concepts into a coherent and understandable essay for a diverse audience requires a careful
balance between technical accuracy and accessibility.
Crafting a well-structured and cohesive essay on the IT industry also involves navigating
through different perspectives and opinions on issues like ethics, privacy, and the societal impact
of technology. Balancing these viewpoints while maintaining an objective and unbiased tone can
add an extra layer of difficulty to the writing process.
Furthermore, the fast-paced nature of the IT field means that information can become outdated
quickly. This necessitates constant vigilance in ensuring that the content remains relevant and
reflective of the current state of the industry.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the IT industry requires not only a deep understanding of the
subject matter but also the ability to synthesize complex information, address diverse
perspectives, and stay abreast of the ever-changing landscape. Despite these challenges,
producing a high-quality essay is possible with dedication, thorough research, and a commitment
to delivering valuable insights.

Who Is Adolf Hitler A Tyrant
Long ago a wise man once stated This inspirational quote analyzes the world we
live in. A Tyrant is a ruler of a cruel and oppressive character; someone who is
remembered, but has no power and is dismissed by many. On the other hand, a
Martyr is the one who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a
belief. This clearly depicts that when a Tyrant reaches his death, he will only be
known for the moment, whereas a Martyr who will be missed and remembered for
decades for his positive characteristics. In life, your character will be judged for
your legacy, therefore, those who give a positive message to the world, and those
who fight for what s right and those who sacrificetheir life for others are the ones
that will never be forgotten throughout history. This quote plays an important role
to our history. Back in the late 1919 s, Adolf Hitler came into power. Hitler was a
man of cruel character; he was unsympathetic and racist to mankind. As a brutal
dictator, he put Jewish people, Black people, anyone that didn t match his
perfection in concentration camps. There he put them through unbearable torture
as each one was forced to work until they nearly passed out with little or no food.
As a result of his actions, more than million lives were lost. In this case, Adolf
Hitler is known to be the Tyrant. In the early 1960 s Martin Luther King Jr gave a
speech; a speech of what he believed in and what he fought for most of his life. As a

Hudson Bay Failure Essay
Walmart, one of the top retailers globally entered Germany in the 1990 s by
acquiring two local retailers. It was not quite successful and the inflexibility and
inadaptability of Wal Mart marked its end in the Europe s biggest economy and the
company had to pull off in 2006. It was seen that Walmart was extremely rigid and
stubborn and did not make any attempt to learn the culture, rather they forced English
language and American way of doing business as the official culture which was one
of the major causes of failure.

It will also focus on forming a strategic alliance with Kaufhof during these six

Medium Term, which would mean from the end of the short term to a year from
now, will witness Hudson Bay to be purely established in Germany with majority
of its employees being local and a few from US units who would effectively
cooperate with the local employees and customers (London Hart, 2004). This period
will also see a good amount of transfer of skillsets from Hudson Bay to Kaufhof and
vice versa.
Long term, which is over a year from now to probably the next three years, the
company will now become fully adept with the local issues and any kind of
problems. Effective solutions with the right employees can be implemented to
overcome any challenge. Kaufhof and Hudson Bay can together witness a growth in
profits and share them efficiently amongst each other. By the end of the second year,
Hudson Bay can also propose to acquire Kaufhof if need be to run independently and

THE CHALLENGES OF CONDUCTING UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE IN
INDONESIA
Introduction
Indonesia is making health sector reform to all its citizens by enacting the
universal health coverage starting from January 2014. This program will be under
the agency known as Social Security Provider or Badan Penyelenggaran Jaminan
Sosial (BPJS). Every Indonesian citizen and foreigners who have lived in
Indonesia for a minimum of six months shall be a member of BPJS. This is in
accordance with the article 14 of Law BPJS. Each company must register its
workers as a member of BPJS. Each participant will be levied on BPJS dues which
is determined later. As for the poor, BPJS dues will be paid by the government
through the dues assistance. Being a participant in BPJS not only mandatory for
workers in the formal sector, but also informal workers. Informal workers are also
required to be a member of BPJS. Workers must register and pay the dues in
accordance with the desired level of benefits.
Universal health insurance is expected to start gradually in 2014 and by 2019, all
Indonesian citizens are expected to have the health insurance. Indonesian health
minister stated that BPJS will cover all kinds of diseases with the efficiency efforts.
However, conducting this program is not without challenges. Many challenges and
lesson learned from previous health insurance systems that must be taking into

Dickens s Conflict In Relationships In Hard Times By...
Dickens s conflict on Hard Times relationships:
The conflict in relationships due to family and class conflict can also be seen in
Charles Dickens s Hard Times. The central theme of the novel, that of fact versus
fancy, is dramatized through the Gradgrind family and Louisa s longing to find an
imaginative escape into a world not conditioned by economic thinking (Dickens,
1854). Due to the expectations on Louisa and her life, she is bound to certain
behaviors, and her desire for something else in her life contradicts those
expectations. Only after Louisa marries Bounderby and is led, for the first time, to
an encounter with Stephen Black pool, is she given a new perspective of the world
around her (Dickens, 1854). Prior to this, Louisa had no conception of individuality
in connection with her family outside of the ideas of supply and demand (Schor,
2001).
One of the most significant elements of the relationship between Louisa and Mr.
Bounderby is the role that compliance plays in their relationship. Louisa immediately
complies with Mr. Bounderby s request to marry her, largely because she sees an
economic opportunity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Pride and Prejudice, social class guides decisions in that Mr. and Mrs. Bennett
wish Elizabeth to marry into a relationship that is beneficial for the social standing of

Louisa s imagination is brought dramatically into reality when her marriage to
Bounderby opens her eyes to a life beyond her upbringing. In this way, both novels

Joffrey Dance Essay
Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance, recounts the tale of the revolutionized
American dance by consolidating advanced customary dance to make another brave
work of art. The Joffrey Ballet was an group that effectively went out on a limb that
changed the dance form for eternity. As the title indicates, the film depicts the

Hydrogen Powered Vs Electric Powered Vehicles
Hydrogen Powered Versus Electric Powered Vehicles The human race is in the
midst of an energy crisis. The gasoline used around the world is currently a non
renewable resource. As the title suggests, the gasoline will eventually be totally
consumed in part by the gas guzzling vehicles common today. For this reason,
scientists have spent decades researching and developing alternative sources of
fuel in order to power daily life on Earth for many years to come. There is a wide
array of renewable fuel sources in use presently. These alternatives vary in efficiency,
affordability, and many other aspects. Hydrogen powered and electric powered
vehicles are two comparable alternatives that have increased in popularity and
functionality in recent years and will continue to do so in the near future (10
Reasons, 2015).
History
Hydrogen powered vehicles initially became a reality with the invention of the first
internal combustion engine in 1806. The engine was powered by a mixture of
oxygen and hydrogen gases. This led to the first hydrogen powered car in 1908.
Hydrogen powered vehicles were further advanced in 1935 with Henry Garrett s
electrolytic carburetor which allowed the cars to run on tap water. In the 1970 s,
Archie Blue created and patented a new carburetor that produced enough H2
(hydrogen) gas to power a car motor (History of Hydrogen, n.d.). Today, most
commercial hydrogen vehicles use fuel cells to power their engines. Electric powered
vehicles had a slightly later

In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the
horror humanity faced during the outbreak. We were put through a trial. Some
passed and some failed. The worst traits of humanity were exposed during the
outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly that the darkness
of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who
had these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with
different ideals, to fight back or bringing out the best in people because I inspired
them. That was not true. It was thanks to true humanity. The humanity I always
knew existed. It s just that it was always suppressed by the darkness of humanity. If
you said to me a year before the outbreak that this would happen, I would send you
to a mental asylum. I guess the joke is on me, so to speak. I wasn t, what some
would say, a confident person. I would just follow others and just do my job. The
outbreak changed all that. It changed everyone, especially me. Some people got
stronger due to the outbreak. Some became weaker. Being leader of the survivors?
This idea would be absurd to me before the outbreak. I never wanted to be a leader. I
just wanted to get by life like any other person. I didn t believe that I would make a

Henry II And The 19th Century
Times started to transform in the 12th and 13th century with how the government
ran in England. Henry II was King at this time and had developed a government
system where he had professionals work for him. These professionals had
schooling and got paid salary by the King. The government was very
institutionalized with royal officials administering both revenues and law. The
king did not have to be present much, in place, he had his officials do
administrative work and record keeping. The king traveled all throughout the
European continent because he was able to, while his working officials did his
work in place. Henry II extended and strengthened the institutions of the English
government. He became king during a horrible civil war between two royal
claimants. The chaos had benefited the English barons and high churchmen, who
gained new privileges and powers as the monarchs authority waned (355). Henry II
s father Henry had built new castles and when Henry II took throne he confiscated
the castles and regained the crown land. He then extended monarchical power by
imposing royal justice. He built it on an already well developed legal system. The
Anglo Saxon kings had royal district courts: the king appointed sheriffs to police the
shires, muster military levies, and haul criminals into court...to these established
institutions, Henry II add a system of judicial visitations called eyres (357). With
proceeding this system, royal officials went all around Englandto judge
Rudyard Kipling And Ray Bradburys Comparison
The Oxford Dictionary describes Self Fulfillment as: The fulfilment of one s hopes
and ambitions . Kipling and The Traveling Wilburys both share their wisdom on
personal fulfillment in the inquiring If and the approachable End of the Line .
While the poems are similar in their purpose and occasion, they differ in their tone
and attitude. The Occasion and purpose of the two works is very similar. In his
poem to his son Kipling talks about what it takes to be a Man, this is years of
wisdom and experience he has gathered and puts together in this poem. The
purpose of this poem is to give his son and the reader moral advice on how to live
your life. Even though end of the line is not directly addressed to one of the

The tone of Kipling s if is one of need and inquiry. In his poem he lists all the if s
that he thinks are required to be a man. you ll be a Man, my son! He makes it clear
that only if you can check all of this of your list, you ll be a man, which basically
means make him proud. In contrast to the harsh tone of Kipling s poem the
wilburys song End of the Line has a very mellow tone. Well it s all right, they start
of every sentence of every second stanca, making it very clear that while they
advise us to do the best [we] can if we don t it will be all right. The attitude of
Kipling has towards live is a harsh one, something we can see in his poem. He
demands enormous tasks of his son/ the reader like: watch the things you gave
your life to, broken ... and build em up with worn out tools , while most humans
would give up after such a misfortune he expects of his son and the readers to move
on, which is great, but hard advice. While the Wilburys almost say the opposite:
even when the sun don t shine ... we re going to the end of the line , which basically
means no matter what happens it doesn t really change anything, at the end we all
end up at the same stop,
Manipulation And Ruthlessness In Ender s Game By
Orson...
In Ender s Game, written by Orson Scott Card, manipulation and ruthlessness are
common themes in this novel. Peter is the big brother of Ender and Valentine and is
gifted with sharp thinking and an extreme lack of compassion. Being a ruthless
character who is driven solely by power, Peter eventually takes over the worldand
establishes himself as Hegemon, the leader of the world. Manipulative by nature,
Peter also uses other s weaknesses to his own advantage. Although he is driven by
evil motives, Peter s genius along with being ruthless and manipulative are the traits
that eventually allow Peter to be Hegemon and establish world peace. In the entire
book, Peter is shown as a ruthless character who lacks compassion for all other...

As Valentine puts it, Peter is a husbandman of pain, planting it, nurturing it,
devouring it greedily when it was ripe. (89) However, taking out violence on a
squirrel is still better than taking out violence on a person. This change in nature
can be largely attributed to Ender being away from Peter, which allows Peter to
feel like he is the best because there isn t living proof that he wasn t good enough.
(17) As long as there is no one around that makes Peter feel inferior, he stays
relatively calm and clear headed. However, being ruthless is a simple task that
anyone can achieve given the right mindset, manipulating others takes talent and
skill. Furthermore, verbal manipulation is one of Peter s greatest talents, as shown
when he uses it many times in the story to obtain more power. One way Peter
manipulates others is by using their weaknesses against them. For example, when
Peter threatens to kill Ender, Valentine reveals that she has a secret letter that would
be opened in the event of her death saying, Peter killed me, and if he hasn t already
killed Andrew, he will soon. (10) Peter has taken advantage of Valentine s weakness
for Ender to gain more information about some of Valentine s tricks, which could ruin
his chances of gaining power. Peter also gains more power through this manipulation
because it causes Valentine and Ender to be afraid of him, therefore giving him more
control over their actions. As Valentine states
Personal Impact On The Water Cycle Essay

ENVS 1301 PERSONAL IMPACT ON THE WATER CYCLE
Although I live in the United States, contrary to the image given through
Hollywood movies, less than one percent of Americans live in wealth akin to kings
or queens or other monarchies. For example, as a child I lived in a home sans
modern plumbing. Such homes were called dry homes , which were built during the
depression era. As children, my siblings and I transported water from a faucet in the
front yard into the house for drinking, washing dishes, and bathing. The sole
plumbing indoors was the toilet; and, similar to those depicted in western movies,
we had a wash pan and water pitcher inlieu of a bathroom basin. For winter months,
we were always careful to insulate the faucet pipes to prevent freezing so we would
have water during the cold seasons.
Needless to say, as an adult, I have a respect for water and an appreciation for
modern plumbing. In light of these facts, I would reason that my personal impact on
the water cycle are at most minimal. In our home we are careful not to waste water.
For example, a filled half gallon BPA free bottle displaces about one third of the
water in the toilet tank, which conserves water with each use. Another example
would be the use of a dishpan instead of the dishwasher that conserves substantial
quantities of water. (However, the dishwasher is utilized weekly on an energy
efficient setting, to sanitize clean dishes.)

The Gathering Decision Making Body
The meeting in which I attended was put on by BikeShare, which is a small Start
Up business based in San Francisco about to drastically expand their operations to
the East Bay, as well as increase their footprint within San Francisco. What they do
is provide publically accessible bikes that can be rented from one of several locations
and returned to any of the BikeShare locations. The purpose of the gatheringdecision
making body is to determine preferred Phase 1 BikeShare instillations within a
specific grid of Berkeley. The objective of the meeting was to gather information from
the residents of Berkeley as to where they think do and don t want these installations
installed, in addition to obtaining detailed comments. BikeShare itself doesn t have
any actual jurisdiction, but they were gathering information in which two city council
members that attended the meeting reside over, which whom spoke during the
meeting and promoted the proposed installations.
The main topic of this meeting was where to put the Phase 1 (of 3) BikeShare
installations. Since the 1960s many counties have made some form of public
participation mandatory for major transportation projects and policies (Schiller
p.201), which means this meeting may have been more about fulfilling a legal
requirement than seeking the publics opinion. Issues discussed in the meeting were
whether on or off street stations were more ideal, if certain locations were in optimal
locations for the stations solar panels,
Space Exploration
The Apollo 11 mission captivated the country and won the attention of the world. The
successful mission provided many answers but also raised a myriad of new questions
that humans had never before thought of. The triumph of achievement and intellect
left the new consequences unnoticed, however it is important to discuss the
ramifications of space explorationfrom all angles before deciding on a course of
action. While curiosity and the expansion of scientific knowledge are significant
factors, the ecological impacts and financial implications of space exploration are the
most important factors to be considered when taking up space exploration, as they
will have the largest effect on our future.

Similar to the virtual destruction of the Aztec s by Spanish disease, humans could
transport harmful bacteria for which terrestrial organisms have no resistance against
and effectively wipe them out. Although unintended, the consequences would still be
severe.
Perhaps more disturbing than the ecologic consequences to space are the potential
bacterial organisms that could be introduced to the Earth s atmosphere as a result of
backward contamination (Source F). This is of special concern, because the
pathogens and microbes that are in space are foreign to humans, so there is no
developed immunity. Potentially, an infectious extraterrestrial germ could be
introduced to the Earth s environment on a return trip and spread rapidly before a
cure could be found (Source F). The threat of infectious disease is a serious one; the
potential for the introduction of potent microbes needs to be recognized, and
comprehensive measures put in place to prevent a catastrophic epidemic of an alien
disease.
Ironically, the very act of going to space itself is destructive to the Earth s
environment. Launch pads need flat land, which needs to be manufactured by
machine, destroying the surrounding environment in the process. The construction of
the gigantic steel trusses needed to support the rocket were likely manufactured
across the country and transported by

Throughout this semester, I have demonstrated a basic, multi dimensional health
assessment. I completed a multi dimensional health assessment on my resident as
demonstrated in completing part G of the RCP. Throughout this semester, I learned
that as a nurse you will be constantly assessing the patient as soon as you walk into
their room. I have implemented the habit as soon as I walk into my patient s room,
I assess his skin, his status of alertness, asking if he has any pain, as well as listening
to his heart and lungs; then I do the focused assessment that is required for that day.
As demonstrated in my weekly self evaluations, I have improved on my
documentation skills and will continue to improve on this skill throughout my career.

Aeration pumps have successfully been used in many rivers and dams to lower
algal blooms, they work by reducing nutrient load in the water column and mixing
algae deeper into the water so that they are deprived of light, other methods such as
algaecides are also used as these are toxic to the algae or cyanobacteria, but using
algaecides can come with great risks and may cause more problems. As a part of a
redevelopment plan, the city of Adelaide has been looking at potential ways to
remove the algae and rubbish in the river, the plan is to lower the weir so that there
is a flow of water. This means that nutrients will be moving through and not
concentrated in a singular spot, reducing the likeliness of algal blooms. At the
moment the most that are being done on carp is a ban on releasing them back in
the waterway, however, many people are working on an alternative. One of these
alternatives is the release of a carp herpesvirus this acts as a biological agent
introduced to the waterway, wiping out large majorities of carp in one swift go.
However, there are issues with this once in the waterway it cannot be removed and
carp may develop resistance and there would have to be a massive clean up

Baron Monstesquieu and His Idea of the Separation of Powers The separation of
powers, originally established by Baron Montesquieu in De l Esprit des Lois (1748)
can be seen as an integral part of any constitution. Montesquieu voiced the necessity
for a separation of the primary three bodies: the executive, the legislature and the
judiciary.
In Lord Woolf s statement: The separation of powershas never been part of the
framework of our unwritten Constitution. He is clearly stating that he believes that

This of course is a clear breach of Montesquieu s doctrine.
This led Lord Hailsham to refer to the arrangement (A Government with a majority)
as an elective dictatorship . However, although it is a clear breach, it may be noted
that out of 659 MP s only approximately 100 are Cabinet Ministers, so the
Government are outnumbered in any case.
To a large extent, the judiciary form a separate body from both the executive and the
legislature. It has been said, that as the United Kingdom has an unwritten Constitution
we have a need for trust and accountability in our public bodies and another need to
enhance the credibility and effectiveness of our public institutions. This is further
recognized by Lord Steyn: Central to the Rule of Law in a modern democratic
society is the principle that the judiciary must be, and must be seen to be, independent
of the executive. However, although this has been firmly established, judges are

Elie Wiesel Reflection
Elie Wiesel details his experiences being deported to different concentrations camps
in the book Night. He lived in Sighet, Transylvania and at the age of 15 he and his
family were sent first to two different ghettos and then to the camps. His story is
breathtaking and can really teach someone important lessons. In Wiesel s memoir
one idea that is presented is that when one questions his faith in God, he begins to
lose hope in life. Scary experiences can change a person in lots of ways. SS officers
ordered everyone from the ghetto including Elie, his mom dad three sisters into
cattle cars 80 per car. Mrs. Schachter in the dead of night screamed at the top of her
lungs Look at the fire! Look at the flames! Flames Everywhere... (26). People
looked in every direction and saw nothing. After Mrs.Schachter screamed about fire
a couple times, young men bound and gagged her. They started to strike her and
people shouted their approval. Elie still had faith in God but that was before he got
off the train and witnessed the fires Mrs.Schachter was talking about. In Auschwitz
Elie witnessed kids being thrown into the fires and families being burned alive.
Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul that turned
my dreams to ashes (34). When Elie thought he was going to walk into the fire
himself this was the first real time he questioned his faith in god and humanity. This
moment he began to question and lose hope, which is a bad thing if you are in a

Light chooses white sails , the bellies of gulls , uses a metaphor to demonstrate
how when the light of the sun shines onto the sails of a boat appears to be white.
Michaels compares these sails to a seagulls white belly. In the 4th stanza, Your three

The Power of Rebuilding
Warwood was still in shambles, and normal kingdom life had been suspended until
essential repairs were completed. Since Xavier couldn t physically lift and move
things due to his injured hand, his father had assigned him to one of his most trusted
friends, General Loren Hardcastle, who was organizing telekinetic citizens. Today,
their task was to clear out rubble and assist masons and construction workers in
rebuilding the gatehouse, which had been demolished during the initial onslaught of
LeMasters invasion.
Rebuilding of the gatehouse would be a simple task and Xavier was looking forward
to doing something constructive, regardless of how tedious or boring it might
become. Although his powers could be intense at times, he felt confident that he had
a secure command over them and could summon them without difficulty. He didn t
like to brag, but there were few kids in the kingdom who could rival his
empowerment level and strength.
However, there was one power that still proved challenging for Xavier: that of
impediment. He struggled to block telepathic advances, especially when faced with a
strong, capable telepath. His confrontation with William LeMasters only punctuated
this deficiency. Although he had made gains in impediment and could, at times,
hoodwink Uncle Mike, his father was a different matter altogether. The king was the
most powerful telepathic alive. For this reason, when the new school term began,
Uncle Mike would no longer be teaching him telepathy; his

The Flea John Donne
This quote is from John Donne s The flea .
In this quote, it stated in the beginning, lines of 1 7 exemplifies the flea sucking
the blood of the speaker and his wife. The action of the flea to suck the speaker and
his wife s blood inspired the speaker to invite his wife to engage in physical love.
The poem displays the couple s relationship before they were married, showing the
wife s refusal to interlock in physical love with him because she was afraid to lose
her honor and reputation. Her innocence jilted before marriage would cause her to
lose her acceptability and dignity. She also believed engaging physical love before
marriage was illicitly wrong and would be seen as committing an act of sin.

Islam Is A Progressive Religion
Despite popular assumption, Islam is actually quite a progressive religion. Bioethics
are not set in stone, although some scholars as well as Muslims do have strong
opinions about certain bioethical subjects. In the twentieth century, there was a very
limited amount of resources in the field of Islamic bioethics. The twenty first
century has marked an influx in research on Islamic bioethics from both Muslim
religious scholars as well as studies conducted by academic researchers (Ghaly 592).
In the field of religious bioethics, there tends to be a significant amount of coverage
on certain topics. In Islamin particular, scholars and the public alike readily discuss
abortion and euthanasia (Brockopp 3). Although Islamic customs emphasize the
importance of community, Islamic theology in general promotes the individual, not
communal, salvation. This means that in many situations, there are guidelines for
how one should act, but individual circumstances can differ therefore warranting a
private and individual action. Westerners often overlook this aspect of Islam, as there
are a lot of misconceptions revolving around Islam and the Muslim identity. In this
sense, despite there being general rules or guidelines Muslims tend to adhere to, there
is still a heavy balance between the general rules and individual circumstances;
meaning that bioethics can not be approached from only one view.
When looking at any issue, it is important to know whom exactly you are speaking

No, I don t think that the consumers are really the king. According to my point of
view actually only those consumers are king who have huge amount to spend or
you cn sy that who have more time n money to waste. A local consumer cn never
be the king. Here is an expl: like if a person purchase a refrigerator. After some days
he/she noticed that the refrigerator is not the 1st one it is a second hand machine n
also not working properly. Then the person goes to that stor from where he/she
purchased it. Guess what! the stor man refuged to take that machine back, and instid
of taking back he is blaming the customer.
After that the person goes to the company of that machine. Same thing happens with
him/her at that place. At last after no option is avilable he/she goes to the consumer
court and after all complains and enquiries the store man found guilty. Now the high
amount of 20, 000 rs goes into the consumer court

Storm Water Pollution In The Chesapeake Bay
One of the recurring problems at Howard County is the large quantities of stormwater
runoff that flow into nearby streams. This is due to meteorological factors and
physical characteristics including: land use changes. The more impervious surfaces
there are the more surface runoff there will be; thus, placing adverse effects upon the
environment. To be exact, these stormwaterrunoffs carry car oils, fertilizers, pet
waste, litter, and sediment to the Chesapeake bay. Hence, 20% of the chesapeake bay
s pollutionis due to stormwater runoff. However, not only does storm water
contribute to pollution, but it also harms wildlife and its environment, as well as
cause floods, erosion, and property damage. To address such issue, Howard

According to the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, these rain gardens are
composed of 50% sand, 25% topsoil, and 25% of compost (Alliance for the

replaced with a more permeable soil this facilitates water absorption. Moreover, due
to their deeper roots and low maintainence, majority of plants placed are native
plants such as, buffalo grass, common ninebark, prairie dropseed, etc. In the event of
a rain, these gardens obtain water that flows from impervious surfaces. Once this
occurs, the slight depression of the garden sustains the water, permitting it to
penetrate slowly into the mulch, plants, and soil all while removing pollutants from
the runoff. At HCC, there are plenty amounts of green spaces that aid in the
reduction of stormwater runoff. However, rain gardens have proven to be one of the
many effective measures placed by HCC to reduce stormwater runoff and the effect
of its pollutants. As of April 2016, there has been over 20 rain gardens planted
throughout HCC campus; however, after the SET building was complete, more rain
gardens have been added since
Symbolism In The Little Prince
Erica Wang

ENGL 360

What Is Essential Is Invisible to the Eye
The Little Prince is among the most translated books on Earth. The French tale is
narrated by a stranded pilot in the African desert who recalls his friendship with a
young prince from a different planet and showcases his illustrations throughout the
text. The fantasy of the book with simple illustrations that help to tell the story along
with a biography of the author make it a potentially useful transition from historical
picture books to George MacDonald s The Princess and the Goblin. Much like the
young princess s journey, the little prince s journey glorifies a theme of child like faith
and innocence to point out the nature of different perspectives. Through the
relationships between powerful symbolisms and themes throughout the story, Richard
Howard s translation of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint ExupГ©ry cleverly
expresses the importance of maintaining wonder and exploration in life, making it a
significant work of children s literature worth adding to the course.
The very presence of symbols in a story illustrate to the reader the idea that there is
more meaning to an object than meets the eye. In The Little Prince, symbols such as
stars in the sky, the desert the protagonists are lost in, and the water that they seek
and find each have their contribution to delivering philosophical ideas about human
nature. These symbols help to complete major themes in the book. Noteworthy
themes to focus on in this lyrical journey include child like view vs. adult perception
and enlightenment through exploration.
A child like view often implies innocence, hopeful curiosity, and simple emotion. The
little prince s character traits parallel with the princess from The Princess and the
Goblin when they both get emotional in an uncomfortable situation, much like any
young child would. For example, the princess cries in distress when she is lost and
frightened in the hallways with never ending doors (MacDonald 21). The little prince
cries when he realizes that his rose on his home planet is not unique and that there
are five thousand of them that are all identical in just one garden (Saint ExupГ©ry

nullifying or impairing the right of a person to full and equal recognition and exercise
of his or her human rights and freedoms. (1). Unfortunately discriminationof

environment. Hence laws are set up to protect employees from discriminations based
on: national origin, religion, age, sex, race, sexual orientation, harassment, marital
status, family status, disability, employer retaliation and enforcement. Based on the

the discrimination lawsuit filed by their ex employee was to be dismissed, because

Dale Chihuly is an American artist, born September 20th, 1941 who is known for
his glass sculptures. One of his most well known pieces is the blue and green glass
sculpture hanging in the front entrance of the Victoria Albert Museum in London
(figure 1). His work has included over 200 museum collections worldwide, and I
visited his exhibition in the Halcyon Gallery on New Bond Street in London on the
23rd of January 2012.
The entire exhibition was made up of glass sculptures fitting into several different
genres created by the artist; for example Seaforms , Persians , both created in the
1980 s, and Fiori , which he created in the 2000 s. Chihuly explored a variety of glass

As the pieces were 3D, standing out from the wall, interesting coloured shadows
and highlights were created with the lighting on the white walls. The viewers could
walk beneath the pieces to view the underneath of each bowl like disc, and see the
detail of different coloured glass swirled into the piece. The curving edges of the
discs created a natural feel to the piece, softening it.
Another part of the exhibition that I found visually stimulating were the Basket
themed pieces, created in the 1970 s, as I thought their smooth edges and insides
captured and reflected the lights really effectively (figures 8 and 9). I also really
liked the multiple baskets stacked inside one another, showing how Chihuly can
handcraft the basket shapes on a variety of scales. The lip wrap on each basket is
often a contrasting colour, developed from the tradition of Venetian glassmaking,

Character Analysis Of Stanley Kowalski s A Streetcar...
The roles of women and men through the mid 1900 s were vastly different. Women
tended to be restricted to a single major societal role housewife. Whereas most men
occupy two such roles, head of household and worker. Thus, a man has two major
sources of gratification, his family and his work, while a womanhas only one, her
family. Men worked and paid the bills while women were expected to stay home to
cook, clean, and take care of the children. Men were typically dominating,
demanding, and harsh and their wrong doings were frequently ignored. Women were
submissive and tolerant which often led to abuse. In the dramatic play A Streetcar
Named Desire written by Tennessee William s, the way Stanley Kowalski depicts a
ghastly control and power over the women throughout the play symbolizes that he is
the victim of the societal roles men play during the post World War II times.
Stanley Kowalski is a man of habit and structure who has three main desires
represented throughout the play, which include his sexual relationship with his wife,
maintaining stereotypical gender roles in the household, and spending a large amount
of time with his male friends. Throughout the play, he falls victim to the culture
during the post World War II times through his actions, dialogue, and friendships. In
the article, Critical Contexts: A Streetcar Named Desire: A Consideration of Select
Criticism, a critic named Benjamin Nelson refers to Stanley Kowalski as the
following, a rough and ready brute,
My Research on Initial Public Offerings
As I began to do research on IPO s, I wanted to make sure that I had a clear
understanding of what exactly an IPO was. Initial Public Offering can be defined as
the first sale of stock by a formerly private company. An IPO (Initial Public Offering)
can be used by either small or large companies to raise expansion capital and become
publicly traded enterprises. Many companies that undertake an IPO also request the
assistance of an Investment Banking firm acting in the capacity of an underwriter to
help them correctly asses the value of their shares, that is, the share price. http:/

After going through the hurdle of using GAAP and some non essential accounting
format Groupon needed investor before going public. To my surprise, while the
country if going through a recession, Groupon had several companies/ individuals
lined up too invest in this endeavor. It appears without hesitation the investors came
running in. The following paragraph is an excerpt from the edition of the Wall Street
Journal. In January, Groupon announced it clinched a whopping round of fund
raising that gave Groupon a cash cushion (and money for early investor to cash out
some of their shares). Remember this cash flotation device came after Groupon gave
the back of the hand to Google and its acquisition deal worth up to $6 billion.
The fund raising round, according to people familiar with the matter, valued
Groupon at $4.875 billion. A ballpark valuation number has been reported
previously by TechCrunch. Here is a partial list of firms that invested in Groupon in
the fund raising round that closed in January, according to Groupon s IPO filing,
and their estimated paper windfall based on Deal Journal s reporting. We don t know

The American Dream Essay Intro
The best aspects from my essay were the intro and the use integrating quotes in the
essay. I believe that the intro was one of the best part because it followed the parts
of a inverted pyramid and that it grabs the reader and makes them want to read
more. In the essay when it states Everyone has one dream or goal in life and there
are certain characteristics one must possess to achieve that dream, but things might
get in the way of being able to achieve that dream , it makes people think how is the
american dream not achievable and what are the characteristics needed to try to
achieve the dream. This makes the reader want to continues to read. The use of
intergrading quotes was another thing that stood out in my essay. In examples such as,

When I said Although these pieces of evidence show that the American dream is
achievable with perseverance they are misleading because the American dream is
not always achievable as proven in the previous paragraphs , I was trying to make
this my although claim and I felt as if I could have made this a more prominent
part of my essay to create a strong opposing paragraph. In my conclusion i feel like i
could have created a stronger closer by tying all the pieces of evidence and saying
something about how all of the show why the american dream in not guaranteed.
Instead I simply said The characteristics needed to achieve the American Dream such
as ambition, opportunism and perseverance may help one achieve their dream, but it
does not guarantee that they will achieve their dream I still think this is a pretty
strong statement but it could have been
Analysis Plan For The Chi Square Approach
The chi square approach includes four steps: Hypothesis, analysis plan, sample data
sample already provided in milestone 2 and results.
Hypothesis
Once the data was processed and displayed in excel, observations of data and
pattern were obtained. By just looking at the display of data the relationship among
variables are perceived; the type of class can be the independent variable and the
dependent variables are the number of participants that might be influenced by
another variable that can be unknown for us. However, We tend to assume and
expect results based on what is observed in the data which can take us to wrong
conclusions. According to Sharpe, N.D., De Veaux, R., Vellerman, P. (2014), you are

point of views: from the no shows count, instructors popularity, class patron count and
patron count by the instructor. however since the main concern are the no shows,The

The data above will be used to accept or reject the null hypothesis. This analysis plan
includes a significance level of 0.05 and the Chi square test for independence as a test
method. The primary goal is to determine the relationship between the two categorical
variables, in this case, month and the attendance (shows or no shows).
Sample Data Analysis According to Stattrek (n.d.), Using sample data, find the
degrees of freedom, expected frequencies, test statistic, and the P value associated
with the test statistic (para. 4). Degree of freedom. According to Stattrek (n.d.), DF =
(r 1) * (c 1) Where r is the number of levels for one categorical variable, and c is the
number of levels for the other categorical variable (para. 4). So, C will represent the
number months: May, June and July (3) and R represents two type of attendance
(show and no show). DF = (r 1) * (c 1)
= (2 1)(3 1)= (2)(2) = 4. DF = 4 Expected

How Does Robert Heinlein Use Solipsism In All You Zombies
Robert Heinlein was an American science fiction writer often known as the dean of
science fiction writers . Though sometimes his works were controversial, he was one
of the greatest science fiction writers for many decades. The most twisted time travel
paradox was arguably imagined by Heinlein when he created the classic short story,
All You Zombies . In All You Zombies , Heinlein uses symbolism and solipsism to
expand on his usage of paradoxes within the story.
There are many paradoxes that Heinlein touches upon in All You Zombies , one being
the ability to travel through time. Time traveling would allow a character to arrive at
a time that the character is already in, causing there to be two of the same character
at once. This scenario occurs in All You Zombies when the bartender approaches a
young man who appears to be feeling very sorry for himself. The paradox is revealed
later in the story when the same young man discovers he is all the characters
mentioned within the story. The time travel paradox in All You Zombies is
symbolized by the ring that the bartender wears. The ring consists of a snake
consuming its own tail, symbolizing the time travel paradox. With no ending or
beginning, like the ring, time through time travel ... Show more content on

At the end of the story, Heinlein uses the idea of solipsism when he writes, I felt
headache coming on, but a headache powder is one thing I do not take. I did once
and you all went away (9) and You aren t really there at all. There isn t anybody but
me Jane here alone in the dark. I miss you dreadfully! (9). This shows that the
bartender is completely aware of the fact that he is all of the characters in the story.
Solipsism creates a lonely life for the bartender and causes him to travel back in time
to tell his sad story to someone. Being that only he himself could understand, he
traveled back in time to relay it onto
The Nature Of Mt Wellington
I am honored to have opportunity to address my opinion about the nature of Mt
Wellington after delving the affairs from your letter. Before making any judgements,
some problems are being worth paying closs attention to here, such as profitability of
Mt Wellington, transfer of ownership. Enclosed with this letter is a detailed
explaination in which you may find the constructive comments.
Relating to core issue, there are two scenarios need to be classified, which will result
different conclusions:
In the first place, the present situation is some areas in Mt Wellington are privately

Similarly, we could use the same standard to measure the other part in Mt
Wellington. The rest area that no one has way to claim could not be addressed as asset
. The reason is there is no entity to manage that area. According to the Australian
Accounting Standard Board AASB138, it falsifies one of the essential characteristic
of being asset, asset must be control by the entity . Hence, this area could not be
accounted as asset. When we make an intensive study of this unowned area, it should
be put into a category of natural resource since it is out of management. According to
Comstock (2016), a natural resource is something that is not made by humans but is
necessary or useful in their lives . To some extent, the landscape, water resource and
wild forest in this area have enriched the biodiversity and are helpful to the local
environment construction. As local communities said, any activity within Wellington
Park has the potential to have an impact upon natural and cultural values, and the
Council s assets, within the reserve . In fact, no one has the right to possess himself
/herself of the unclaimed area.
At the moment, the whole Mt Wellington could not treated as an asset, even the
current status is in good condition. However, there is another possibility that State
Government or Commonweal would make Mt Wellington nationalized regardless of
the approval and support from the Hobart and Glenorchy city councils. There is
evidence that this

Essay On Emergency Student Loans
Let s continue Student s Growth through Emergency Student Loans
An emergency is defined as an unexpected need that could not have been reasonably
foreseen. In today s tough financial climate, more and more students are facing
difficulties with increasing cost of tuition fees and living expenses. Sometimes
student s ability to pay can change drastically. For example a parent may get fired or
suffer a pay cut. As a result, many bright students are at risk of having to quit their
study due to financial crisis.
Emergency student loans are short term loans that are geared towards helping
students cover education related costs living expenses. The uncertain financial
environment may cause sudden changes in the costs of tuition or other expenses and
emergency student loans are the best way to cover any unexpected costs. These loans
are processed almost instantly and are disbursed to students within a few hours. The

The students can apply for an emergency loan before the semester begins, but in that
case he or she won t get it until semester begins. These loans are also available under
less stringent conditions, since the amount disbursed is usually lower compared to
other loans. While these loans may not be ideal for funding an entire degree, they
may be beneficial when any unexpected costs arise. As their name suggests, the
primary objective of emergency student loans is to allow students to work their way
out of unexpected or hidden costs without having to put a stop to their entire
education. And there are fewer restrictions on the use of the money that is borrowed,
meaning that you can spend money on what you need, when you need it. So

Life in London in the 1600 s
Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in London in the 1600 s? What
did people learn? What kind of jobs did they do? I know you probably don t ever

children in London. The boys would be at a school getting a public education; the
girls would be at home getting a private education from a tutor. Although a girl s
education would usually include reading and arithmetic, most of her schooling was
learning how to become a proper lady. If you were wealthy though, girl or boy, you
would have a private tutor at your home with a more broad range of topics. There are

You might think that being a servant isn t too bad, but most servants only make
two to five pounds a year. This brings me to the topic of money. All of the coins are
silver or gold. There is no paper money. You cannot have, for example, a five pound
note. The basic denominations of money are pounds, shillings, and pence. Twelve
pence make a shilling, and twenty shillings make a pound. A sovereign is a gold
coin worth one pound. Pounds weren t invented until after 1583. The angel is one
of the most common gold coins. The angel is worth ten shillings or half a pound.
The crown is the most common coin. It is worth five shillings, and can be made of
either gold or silver. Half a crown is worth is worth two shillings and six pence,
sometimes called two and six. The shilling is a silver coin worth twelve pence.
The sixpence is a silver coin worth sixpence. A groat is a silver coin worth four

worth two pence is called tuppence. A half penny is called a ha penny. The farthing
is a quarter penny fragment so small that it was only in circulation at times when
money was low. Now that we know about how the money works, let s talk about
spending money. Money back then bought a lot more than it does now. Don t
substitute pounds for dollars; try substituting as little as shillings or pennies for
dollars. Twenty pounds for a pair of gloves means

According to Merriam Webster.com, cryptocurrency is, any form of currency that

The Power Of Religion By Chinua Achebe
The Power of Religion
A religion to some is the basic world views for a person, to some it is the basic
behaviors and practices and to others it is an order of existence. Throughout history,
the world has witnessed a religions power to guide a society, but many have also
witnessed a religion destroy a society as well. Within the novel Things Fall Apartby
Chinua Achebe, the world witnesses many religions, for example the Ibo religion
and Christianity. We are able to get a delightful insight on their ways of functioning
and beliefs. For the durations of the book, we observe the destructive power of
religion. Religion can absolutely destroy a society and break it into pieces because
religion creates fear within the people who follow it, ... Show more content on

This fear does not allow people to do things they want and is against the basic
fundaments of a healthy society. In a healthy society, people would be free to go
outside during night and kids would be free to whistle. If these fears do not
change, then the society will be destroyed because freedom is a basic necessity for
a health society. Continuing on, another example of fear being fabricated in the
minds of the people is during the appearance of the ancestral spirit, during the
funeral of Ezeudu. The ancestral spirits have a sickly odor hung in the air
wherever he went, and flies went with him. Even the greatest medicine men took
shelter, when he was near. (122). The Ibo religion once again is able to fabricate
fear into the minds of its followers. The religion places a fear of ancestral spirits
thus making the society sacred of walking around during the appearance of spirits,
which once again violates the freedom of the people. If a religion is implementing
fear within the society, it is slowly killing itself because people deserve freedom.
Fear leads to destruction. In addition, a religion can unquestionably destroy a
society due to class divisions. Osu s are the outcast of the Ibo religion. An osu [can]
not attend an assembly of the free born and they, in turn, [can] not shelter under his
roof (156). With a religion like Ibo creating class divisions, it

What Are The Similarities Between North And South Korea
The two governmental structures that I have chosen to analyse are those of North
and South Korea. Despite being in very close quarters their governmental structures
differ greatly. North Korea is a Communist state with a one man dictatorship (CIA

North Korea is the subject of one supreme leader, Kim Jong un. The executive
branch involves the head of government, Premier PAK Pong Ju and vice premiers,
and the cabinet also known as Naegak both are elected by the Supreme People s
Assembly (SPA) (CIA World Fact Book). The SPA is North Korea s rubber stamp
legislature , with 687 delegates (Inside North Korea s Supreme People s Assembly,
2015 ), they come under the legislative branch and are also known as Ch oego
Inmin Hoeui. The Judicial branch is headed by The Supreme Court, here the
judges are chosen by the SPA. Despite this three way division of power, balance
and checks have no meaning in North Korea a country characterised by a one party

Namioka Character Foils
Mortifying occurrences at a birthday party or at school as a child can haunt a person
until they are an adult. What made the experience traumatizing? Was it the way they
handled themselves? Potentially, yet, it s usually because of the reaction of the
people surrounding them. Others ignorance is key to swerving away from
humiliation. Which explains why people can find themselves more comfortable

Authors use character foils to convey major differences between various

ended up confused about how the theri evening meals. We never ate raw celery, or
any kind of vegetable raw. We always had to disinfect the vegetables in boiling

us unprepared. (55) Mrs. Gleason announced that the dinner was served and
invited us to the dining table. It was lavishly covered with platters of food, but we
couldn t see and chairs around he table. So we helpfully carried over some dining
chairs and sat down. All the other guests just stood there. (57) Instead of adding to
their embarrassment, Mrs. Gleason politely informed them by whispering how
dinner is conducted in their household. Although there may have been of few stares,
the dinner scene was incomparable to the happenstance in the Lakeview restaurant.
The Lins found themselves victim of another cultural difference. The Lakeview was
a French restaraunt which contributed to the family s helplessness. Ordering four
meals at random, the Lins received a plate of soup each as an appetizer. Knowing
that soup generally comes in bowls, the siblings were puzzled. Fortunately, wanting
to adapt quickly, the two elder members of the family prepared by reading books on

still followed. As any respectable Chinese knows, the respectable way to eat soup is
to slurp. This helps to cool the liquid and prevent you from burning your lips. It also
shows your appreciation. (63) Hence their untraditional behavior according to
American standards. The shock

  • 2. Who Is Adolf Hitler A Tyrant Long ago a wise man once stated This inspirational quote analyzes the world we live in. A Tyrant is a ruler of a cruel and oppressive character; someone who is remembered, but has no power and is dismissed by many. On the other hand, a Martyr is the one who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a belief. This clearly depicts that when a Tyrant reaches his death, he will only be known for the moment, whereas a Martyr who will be missed and remembered for decades for his positive characteristics. In life, your character will be judged for your legacy, therefore, those who give a positive message to the world, and those who fight for what s right and those who sacrificetheir life for others are the ones that will never be forgotten throughout history. This quote plays an important role to our history. Back in the late 1919 s, Adolf Hitler came into power. Hitler was a man of cruel character; he was unsympathetic and racist to mankind. As a brutal dictator, he put Jewish people, Black people, anyone that didn t match his perfection in concentration camps. There he put them through unbearable torture as each one was forced to work until they nearly passed out with little or no food. As a result of his actions, more than million lives were lost. In this case, Adolf Hitler is known to be the Tyrant. In the early 1960 s Martin Luther King Jr gave a speech; a speech of what he believed in and what he fought for most of his life. As a result of his phenomenal
  • 3. Hudson Bay Failure Essay Walmart, one of the top retailers globally entered Germany in the 1990 s by acquiring two local retailers. It was not quite successful and the inflexibility and inadaptability of Wal Mart marked its end in the Europe s biggest economy and the company had to pull off in 2006. It was seen that Walmart was extremely rigid and stubborn and did not make any attempt to learn the culture, rather they forced English language and American way of doing business as the official culture which was one of the major causes of failure. Hudson Bay Company is also entering Germany with almost the same strategy, by acquiring the successful German retailer, Galeria Kaufhof. It will also focus on forming a strategic alliance with Kaufhof during these six months and market and advertise about the same using social media. It can come up with great offers and early discounts in the initial few weeks so as to draw more customers and form an attractive image. Medium Term, which would mean from the end of the short term to a year from now, will witness Hudson Bay to be purely established in Germany with majority of its employees being local and a few from US units who would effectively cooperate with the local employees and customers (London Hart, 2004). This period will also see a good amount of transfer of skillsets from Hudson Bay to Kaufhof and vice versa. Long term, which is over a year from now to probably the next three years, the company will now become fully adept with the local issues and any kind of problems. Effective solutions with the right employees can be implemented to overcome any challenge. Kaufhof and Hudson Bay can together witness a growth in profits and share them efficiently amongst each other. By the end of the second year, Hudson Bay can also propose to acquire Kaufhof if need be to run independently and increase its investments in the

  • 5. Dickens s Conflict In Relationships In Hard Times By... Dickens s conflict on Hard Times relationships: The conflict in relationships due to family and class conflict can also be seen in Charles Dickens s Hard Times. The central theme of the novel, that of fact versus fancy, is dramatized through the Gradgrind family and Louisa s longing to find an imaginative escape into a world not conditioned by economic thinking (Dickens, 1854). Due to the expectations on Louisa and her life, she is bound to certain behaviors, and her desire for something else in her life contradicts those expectations. Only after Louisa marries Bounderby and is led, for the first time, to an encounter with Stephen Black pool, is she given a new perspective of the world around her (Dickens, 1854). Prior to this, Louisa had no conception of individuality in connection with her family outside of the ideas of supply and demand (Schor, 2001). One of the most significant elements of the relationship between Louisa and Mr. Bounderby is the role that compliance plays in their relationship. • 7. Hydrogen Powered Vs Electric Powered Vehicles Hydrogen Powered Versus Electric Powered Vehicles The human race is in the midst of an energy crisis. The gasoline used around the world is currently a non renewable resource. As the title suggests, the gasoline will eventually be totally consumed in part by the gas guzzling vehicles common today. For this reason, scientists have spent decades researching and developing alternative sources of fuel in order to power daily life on Earth for many years to come. There is a wide array of renewable fuel sources in use presently. These alternatives vary in efficiency, affordability, and many other aspects. Hydrogen powered and electric powered vehicles are two comparable alternatives that have increased in popularity and functionality in recent years and will continue to do so in the near future (10 Reasons, 2015). History Hydrogen powered vehicles initially became a reality with the invention of the first internal combustion engine in 1806. The engine was powered by a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen gases. This led to the first hydrogen powered car in 1908. Hydrogen powered vehicles were further advanced in 1935 with Henry Garrett s electrolytic carburetor which allowed the cars to run on tap water. In the 1970 s, Archie Blue created and patented a new carburetor that produced enough H2 (hydrogen) gas to power a car motor (History of Hydrogen, n.d.). Today, most commercial hydrogen vehicles use fuel cells to power their engines. Electric powered vehicles had a slightly later

There was problem about fleeing from infested areas. Everywhere was infested. There was no where anyone could go without encountering the walking plague. You know that phrase War is Hell ? In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the horror humanity faced during the outbreak. We were put through a trial. Some passed and some failed. The worst traits of humanity were exposed during the outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly that the darkness of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who had these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with different ideals, to fight back or bringing out the best in people because I inspired them. That was not true. It was thanks to true humanity. The humanity I always knew existed. It s just that it was always suppressed by the darkness of humanity. If you said to me a year before the outbreak that this would happen, I would send you to a mental asylum. I guess the joke is on me, so to speak. I wasn t, what some would say, a confident person. I would just follow others and just do my job. The outbreak changed all that. It changed everyone, especially me. Some people got stronger due to the outbreak. Some became weaker. Being leader of the survivors? This idea would be absurd to me before the outbreak. I never wanted to be a leader. I just wanted to get by life like any other person. I didn t believe that I would make a good leader. But I was wrong. What was that quote by Umbert...? Umberto Eco! It was, The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest
  • 9. Henry II And The 19th Century Times started to transform in the 12th and 13th century with how the government ran in England. Henry II was King at this time and had developed a government system where he had professionals work for him. These professionals had schooling and got paid salary by the King. The government was very institutionalized with royal officials administering both revenues and law. The king did not have to be present much, in place, he had his officials do administrative work and record keeping. The king traveled all throughout the European continent because he was able to, while his working officials did his work in place. Henry II extended and strengthened the institutions of the English government. He became king during a horrible civil war between two royal claimants. The chaos had benefited the English barons and high churchmen, who gained new privileges and powers as the monarchs authority waned (355). Henry II s father Henry had built new castles and when Henry II took throne he confiscated the castles and regained the crown land. He then extended monarchical power by imposing royal justice. He built it on an already well developed legal system. The Anglo Saxon kings had royal district courts: the king appointed sheriffs to police the shires, muster military levies, and haul criminals into court...to these established institutions, Henry II add a system of judicial visitations called eyres (357). With proceeding this system, royal officials went all around Englandto judge
  • 10. Rudyard Kipling And Ray Bradburys Comparison The Oxford Dictionary describes Self Fulfillment as: The fulfilment of one s hopes and ambitions . Kipling and The Traveling Wilburys both share their wisdom on personal fulfillment in the inquiring If and the approachable End of the Line . While the poems are similar in their purpose and occasion, they differ in their tone and attitude. The Occasion and purpose of the two works is very similar. In his poem to his son Kipling talks about what it takes to be a Man, this is years of wisdom and experience he has gathered and puts together in this poem. The purpose of this poem is to give his son and the reader moral advice on how to live your life. Even though end of the line is not directly addressed to one of the Wilburys sons, it s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tone of Kipling s if is one of need and inquiry. In his poem he lists all the if s that he thinks are required to be a man. you ll be a Man, my son! He makes it clear that only if you can check all of this of your list, you ll be a man, which basically means make him proud. In contrast to the harsh tone of Kipling s poem the wilburys song End of the Line has a very mellow tone. Well it s all right, they start of every sentence of every second stanca, making it very clear that while they advise us to do the best [we] can if we don t it will be all right. The attitude of Kipling has towards live is a harsh one, something we can see in his poem. He demands enormous tasks of his son/ the reader like: watch the things you gave your life to, broken ... and build em up with worn out tools , while most humans would give up after such a misfortune he expects of his son and the readers to move on, which is great, but hard advice. While the Wilburys almost say the opposite: even when the sun don t shine ... we re going to the end of the line , which basically means no matter what happens it doesn t really change anything, at the end we all end up at the same stop,
  • 11. Manipulation And Ruthlessness In Ender s Game By Orson... In Ender s Game, written by Orson Scott Card, manipulation and ruthlessness are common themes in this novel. Peter is the big brother of Ender and Valentine and is gifted with sharp thinking and an extreme lack of compassion. Being a ruthless character who is driven solely by power, Peter eventually takes over the worldand establishes himself as Hegemon, the leader of the world. Manipulative by nature, Peter also uses other s weaknesses to his own advantage. Although he is driven by evil motives, Peter s genius along with being ruthless and manipulative are the traits that eventually allow Peter to be Hegemon and establish world peace. As Valentine puts it, Peter is a husbandman of pain, planting it, nurturing it, devouring it greedily when it was ripe. (89) However, taking out violence on a squirrel is still better than taking out violence on a person. This change in nature can be largely attributed to Ender being away from Peter, which allows Peter to feel like he is the best because there isn t living proof that he wasn t good enough. (17) As long as there is no one around that makes Peter feel inferior, he stays relatively calm and clear headed. However, being ruthless is a simple task that anyone can achieve given the right mindset, manipulating others takes talent and skill. Furthermore, verbal manipulation is one of Peter s greatest talents, as shown when he uses it many times in the story to obtain more power. One way Peter manipulates others is by using their weaknesses against them. • 12. Personal Impact On The Water Cycle Essay WA 4 ENVS 1301 PERSONAL IMPACT ON THE WATER CYCLE Although I live in the United States, contrary to the image given through Hollywood movies, less than one percent of Americans live in wealth akin to kings or queens or other monarchies. For example, as a child I lived in a home sans modern plumbing. Such homes were called dry homes , which were built during the depression era. As children, my siblings and I transported water from a faucet in the front yard into the house for drinking, washing dishes, and bathing. The sole plumbing indoors was the toilet; and, similar to those depicted in western movies, we had a wash pan and water pitcher inlieu of a bathroom basin. For winter months, we were always careful to insulate the faucet pipes to prevent freezing so we would have water during the cold seasons. Needless to say, as an adult, I have a respect for water and an appreciation for modern plumbing. In light of these facts, I would reason that my personal impact on the water cycle are at most minimal. In our home we are careful not to waste water. For example, a filled half gallon BPA free bottle displaces about one third of the water in the toilet tank, which conserves water with each use. Another example would be the use of a dishpan instead of the dishwasher that conserves substantial quantities of water. (However, the dishwasher is utilized weekly on an energy efficient setting, to sanitize clean dishes.) When considering the human processing of grey water

BikeShare itself doesn t have any actual jurisdiction, but they were gathering information in which two city council members that attended the meeting reside over, which whom spoke during the meeting and promoted the proposed installations. The main topic of this meeting was where to put the Phase 1 (of 3) BikeShare installations. Since the 1960s many counties have made some form of public participation mandatory for major transportation projects and policies (Schiller p.201), which means this meeting may have been more about fulfilling a legal requirement than seeking the publics opinion. Issues discussed in the meeting were whether on or off street stations were more ideal, if certain locations were in optimal locations for the stations solar panels,

Similar to the virtual destruction of the Aztec s by Spanish disease, humans could transport harmful bacteria for which terrestrial organisms have no resistance against and effectively wipe them out. Although unintended, the consequences would still be severe. Perhaps more disturbing than the ecologic consequences to space are the potential bacterial organisms that could be introduced to the Earth s atmosphere as a result of backward contamination (Source F). This is of special concern, because the pathogens and microbes that are in space are foreign to humans, so there is no developed immunity. Potentially, an infectious extraterrestrial germ could be introduced to the Earth s environment on a return trip and spread rapidly before a cure could be found (Source F). The threat of infectious disease is a serious one; the potential for the introduction of potent microbes needs to be recognized, and comprehensive measures put in place to prevent a catastrophic epidemic of an alien disease. Ironically, the very act of going to space itself is destructive to the Earth s environment. Launch pads need flat land, which needs to be manufactured by machine, destroying the surrounding environment in the process. If you looked at the River Torrens now you could never tell that s what it was used for, and instead, you can see the unsightly weir restricting water flow and the murky brown green water plagued with environmental issues. Aeration pumps have successfully been used in many rivers and dams to lower algal blooms, they work by reducing nutrient load in the water column and mixing algae deeper into the water so that they are deprived of light, other methods such as algaecides are also used as these are toxic to the algae or cyanobacteria, but using algaecides can come with great risks and may cause more problems. As a part of a redevelopment plan, the city of Adelaide has been looking at potential ways to remove the algae and rubbish in the river, the plan is to lower the weir so that there is a flow of water. This means that nutrients will be moving through and not concentrated in a singular spot, reducing the likeliness of algal blooms. The twenty first century has marked an influx in research on Islamic bioethics from both Muslim religious scholars as well as studies conducted by academic researchers (Ghaly 592). In the field of religious bioethics, there tends to be a significant amount of coverage on certain topics. In Islamin particular, scholars and the public alike readily discuss abortion and euthanasia (Brockopp 3). • 36. Storm Water Pollution In The Chesapeake Bay One of the recurring problems at Howard County is the large quantities of stormwater runoff that flow into nearby streams. This is due to meteorological factors and physical characteristics including: land use changes. The more impervious surfaces there are the more surface runoff there will be; thus, placing adverse effects upon the environment. To be exact, these stormwaterrunoffs carry car oils, fertilizers, pet waste, litter, and sediment to the Chesapeake bay. Hence, 20% of the chesapeake bay s pollutionis due to stormwater runoff. However, not only does storm water contribute to pollution, but it also harms wildlife and its environment, as well as cause floods, erosion, and property damage. According to the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, these rain gardens are composed of 50% sand, 25% topsoil, and 25% of compost (Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay) and contain small amount of clay. As the impermeable soil is replaced with a more permeable soil this facilitates water absorption. Moreover, due to their deeper roots and low maintainence, majority of plants placed are native plants such as, buffalo grass, common ninebark, prairie dropseed, etc. In the event of a rain, these gardens obtain water that flows from impervious surfaces. Once this occurs, the slight depression of the garden sustains the water, permitting it to penetrate slowly into the mulch, plants, and soil all while removing pollutants from the runoff. At HCC, there are plenty amounts of green spaces that aid in the reduction of stormwater runoff. However, rain gardens have proven to be one of the many effective measures placed by HCC to reduce stormwater runoff and the effect of its pollutants. As of April 2016, there has been over 20 rain gardens planted throughout HCC campus; however, after the SET building was complete, more rain gardens have been added since
  • 37. Symbolism In The Little Prince Erica Wang Dr. Robinson ENGL 360 October 23, 2017 What Is Essential Is Invisible to the Eye The Little Prince is among the most translated books on Earth. The French tale is narrated by a stranded pilot in the African desert who recalls his friendship with a young prince from a different planet and showcases his illustrations throughout the text. The fantasy of the book with simple illustrations that help to tell the story along with a biography of the author make it a potentially useful transition from historical picture books to George MacDonald s The Princess and the Goblin. Much like the young princess s journey, the little prince s journey glorifies a theme of child like faith and innocence to point out the nature of different perspectives. Through the relationships between powerful symbolisms and themes throughout the story, Richard Howard s translation of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint ExupГ©ry cleverly expresses the importance of maintaining wonder and exploration in life, making it a significant work of children s literature worth adding to the course. The very presence of symbols in a story illustrate to the reader the idea that there is more meaning to an object than meets the eye. In The Little Prince, symbols such as stars in the sky, the desert the protagonists are lost in, and the water that they seek and find each have their contribution to delivering philosophical ideas about human nature. These symbols help to complete major themes in the book. Noteworthy themes to focus on in this lyrical journey include child like view vs. adult perception and enlightenment through exploration. A child like view often implies innocence, hopeful curiosity, and simple emotion. The little prince s character traits parallel with the princess from The Princess and the Goblin when they both get emotional in an uncomfortable situation, much like any young child would. For example, the princess cries in distress when she is lost and frightened in the hallways with never ending doors (MacDonald 21). The little prince cries when he realizes that his rose on his home planet is not unique and that there are five thousand of them that are all identical in just one garden (Saint ExupГ©ry 54). Both of these

The curving edges of the discs created a natural feel to the piece, softening it. Another part of the exhibition that I found visually stimulating were the Basket themed pieces, created in the 1970 s, as I thought their smooth edges and insides captured and reflected the lights really effectively (figures 8 and 9). I also really liked the multiple baskets stacked inside one another, showing how Chihuly can handcraft the basket shapes on a variety of scales. The lip wrap on each basket is often a contrasting colour, developed from the tradition of Venetian glassmaking, and is a trademark of Chihuly s work. I feel the bold colour lip wraps help to draw the viewer s eye into the centre of the baskets, revealing the smaller baskets within. I really liked the contrast in the colour of the two chandelier pieces in the windows of the Halcyon Gallery (figures 10 and 11). • 43. Character Analysis Of Stanley Kowalski s A Streetcar... The roles of women and men through the mid 1900 s were vastly different. Women tended to be restricted to a single major societal role housewife. Whereas most men occupy two such roles, head of household and worker. Thus, a man has two major sources of gratification, his family and his work, while a womanhas only one, her family. Men worked and paid the bills while women were expected to stay home to cook, clean, and take care of the children. Men were typically dominating, demanding, and harsh and their wrong doings were frequently ignored. Women were submissive and tolerant which often led to abuse. In the dramatic play A Streetcar Named Desire written by Tennessee William s, the way Stanley Kowalski depicts a ghastly control and power over the women throughout the play symbolizes that he is the victim of the societal roles men play during the post World War II times. Stanley Kowalski is a man of habit and structure who has three main desires represented throughout the play, which include his sexual relationship with his wife, maintaining stereotypical gender roles in the household, and spending a large amount of time with his male friends. Throughout the play, he falls victim to the culture during the post World War II times through his actions, dialogue, and friendships. In the article, Critical Contexts: A Streetcar Named Desire: A Consideration of Select Criticism, a critic named Benjamin Nelson refers to Stanley Kowalski as the following, a rough and ready brute,

Though sometimes his works were controversial, he was one of the greatest science fiction writers for many decades. The most twisted time travel paradox was arguably imagined by Heinlein when he created the classic short story, All You Zombies . In All You Zombies , Heinlein uses symbolism and solipsism to expand on his usage of paradoxes within the story. There are many paradoxes that Heinlein touches upon in All You Zombies , one being the ability to travel through time. Time traveling would allow a character to arrive at a time that the character is already in, causing there to be two of the same character at once. This scenario occurs in All You Zombies when the bartender approaches a young man who appears to be feeling very sorry for himself. The paradox is revealed later in the story when the same young man discovers he is all the characters mentioned within the story. Hence, this area could not be accounted as asset. When we make an intensive study of this unowned area, it should be put into a category of natural resource since it is out of management. According to Comstock (2016), a natural resource is something that is not made by humans but is necessary or useful in their lives . To some extent, the landscape, water resource and wild forest in this area have enriched the biodiversity and are helpful to the local environment construction. Continuing on, another example of fear being fabricated in the minds of the people is during the appearance of the ancestral spirit, during the funeral of Ezeudu. The ancestral spirits have a sickly odor hung in the air wherever he went, and flies went with him. Even the greatest medicine men took shelter, when he was near. (122). The SPA is North Korea s rubber stamp legislature , with 687 delegates (Inside North Korea s Supreme People s Assembly, 2015 ), they come under the legislative branch and are also known as Ch oego Inmin Hoeui. The Judicial branch is headed by The Supreme Court, here the judges are chosen by the SPA. Was it the way they handled themselves? Potentially, yet, it s usually because of the reaction of the people surrounding them. Others ignorance is key to swerving away from humiliation. Which explains why people can find themselves more comfortable around friends for their purpose is not to laugh at them but with them. Meg Gleason never exposed the narrator s mistakes that she made or insulted her traditions, even when the narrator disliked her own traditions. With the All American Slurp, among differing themes, Lensey Namioka manifested throughout her story the theme of how friends understand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Authors use character foils to convey major differences between various characters; the technique works especially well when discussing cultures. For instance, the Lin family s behavior at the Gleason s dinner party in contrast to the assumed American born guests. Based off of their different backgrounds, the Lin s ended up confused about how the theri evening meals. We never ate raw celery, or any kind of vegetable raw. So we helpfully carried over some dining chairs and sat down. All the other guests just stood there. Although there may have been of few stares, the dinner scene was incomparable to the happenstance in the Lakeview restaurant. The Lins found themselves victim of another cultural difference. The Lakeview was a French restaraunt which contributed to the family s helplessness. Ordering four meals at random, the Lins received a plate of soup each as an appetizer. Knowing that soup generally comes in bowls, the siblings were puzzled. Fortunately, wanting to adapt quickly, the two elder members of the family prepared by reading books on western etiquette before they moved to America. Nonetheless, their cultural habits still followed. As any respectable Chinese knows, the respectable way to eat soup is to slurp. This helps to cool the liquid and prevent you from burning your lips. It also shows your appreciation. (63) Hence their untraditional behavior according to American standards. The shock
